MEMOIRS OF CHADRICK KNIGHT
Chadrick was around when it all began. He knew the world the way it once was, before the great war. He had recently graduated from college as a biotechnology engineer and began an internship with some of the world's most amazing scientists at a highly classified research facility known as Big Mountain. Though he did not get to work with the big names, such as Kline and Mobius, he did interact with them and often observed them inconspicuously.
On the day the bombs fell Chadrick found himself outside the safety of the unperturbed Big MT. Instead, cruel fate would have it that he had been asked personally by Dr. Kline to make a coffee and donuts run. In exchange for this minor favor he was promised an inside look at the facility's prized automated Y-17 trauma harnesses. As the bombs fell, Chadrick had only seconds to think of a plan of survival. The Poseidon gas station he was buying the donuts from had a basement hatch on the outside of the building, which Chadrick burst into as soon as the ground began to shake. Ducking under a table, face turned against the wall, Chadrick enjoyed Dr. Kline's damn donut. The last thing he remembers of that day is the most intense bright, white, burning light he has ever experienced, along with the sweet taste of Bavarian cream.
In some ways, awakening from years of an irradiated death-coma was extremely exciting. But in other ways it was terrifying. For example, awakening to find oneself already walking around is quite alarming. As it happened, Dr. Klein was so bent on getting his donut that he sent out a Mr. Handy unit with a Y-17 Trauma Override Harness for increased chances of Chadrick's return. The Y-17 Harness must've registered Chadrick as dead, because it took over control of mobility. He couldn't believe his luck. Not only had he survived the blast, but he had also been safely preserved in the very suit Dr. Klein intended to show him! It seems that he had been given an inside look at the suit after all. All of this, on top of the fact that the bastard Dr. Klein never got his donut. It took nearly an entire day of struggling and tearing to remove the harness. It would not have been possible at all, had it not been for several tattered areas in the suit. But at last he was finally free to observe where he had wound up.
After realizing that he was still wandering the Big MT Chadrick realized that he would need to leave this place.
