well darkness is an absence, which is why I figured moving the particles in air to create shadows would be the most accurate

I don't know, I really don't see how Air particles would have an effect on photons,

If fire is light, then I like the idea of darkness being water, as 1, they are oppisits, 2. Water seems more like darkness to me then earth. Although, I agree with cucooruler, it would be simplier to just put them as their own thing. If fire is plasma, air is gas, earth is solid, water is liquid (although technecaly, air and water are both fluids), light can be spirit, and dark is 'dark matter' if we are going by forms of matter.

@OtomostheCrazy have you never seen a mirage? the density of air affects the direction of light, that means that particles in the air already affect photons,

@Crimson Raven I'm quite fond of the current setup due to the fact that before the periodic table THESE were the elements, light and dark were not included.
