[IC] Forgotten History

[Thorned Hammer]

"ah, I was wondering when is get to meet him.". Sighed Marcus, mostly to himself. He hoped the others hadn't over heard as he made his way further into the living room while staying close by Rin.

[Rose]

Rin stepped into the edge of the living room. "I'm here to see my family, who I love. So much so that I'm willing to put my life on the line to protect them and their freedom. That's why I joined the military." Rin said as calmly. Her explanation wasn't necessary, and she knew that. Rin felt her heart race as Henry stood and walked in her direction. The burly man's stature was intimidating but Rin stood her ground. "How dare you abandon your family then call yourself some hero" he said then slapped her.

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten... she counted off in her head. It was a trick she had learned to calm herself. Her first reaction was to turn her head to Marcus. "Don't" She said simply, knowing he was about to try and attack Henry.

He had indeed been about to attack the man, his bag having made a loud thud as it hit the ground and in two strides he had been in front of the sour elder. Already his fist was cocked back and ready to hit him across the jaw, but he stopped.

[Rose]

Rin moved her hand onto Marcus arm. "Just don't. Please." She whispered in nearly a begging way. Piper moved to Henry's side. "Darling, please sit back down. I'll make you something to eat." She said in her calmest voice possible. Henry looked at Marcus with anger and disgust. "Who's this little piss-ant? Your boyfriend?" He grumbled. "Let's just go to my room." Rin said to Marcus as she pulled on his arm. Rin looked back and saw Charlie crying and holding Tank close. Quickly she walked over and scooped up her little sister, trying to comfort her.

"who you calling a piss ant, jackass". Scowled Marcus, lowering his arm though at Rin's insistence. He continued to glare at the older man but followed after Rin. Reaching out he awkwardly patted Charlie on the head as if to comfort her. It worked with Tucker at least.

[Rose]

Rin walked to the back of the house where a stairway led into the attic, where her room was located. Quickly, yet carefully, she made her way up the stairs, still holding Charlie tightly in her arms. Once at the top of the stairs she opened the door, having to put some extra force behind it. It would seem no one had been in the room in quite some time. Glancing around Rin saw that everything was as she had left it. "Why don't you and Tank play for awhile." She suggested to Charlie and set her down. The little girl held the pup and went to the far side of the room, sitting down on the floor and playing with the young dog. With an exhausted sigh Rin sat down on the bed.

Marcus stayed by the door, still looking a bit pissed off but seeming to have mostly relaxed. Looking around curiously, he stepped further into the room and set his things done. "Is that normal." He asked eventually, looking to Rin.

[Rose]

With glassed over eyes Rin looked at Charlie. "Hm?" She said absentmindedly as she turned to look at Marcus. "Oh, yeah. It is." She said quietly. She felt ashamed, that she was strong and independent, until she was around him. Then she was helpless. "Just don't threaten him, or strike out. It will only make it worse for them after we're gone." She said glancing back at Charlie.

"What if we just, put him in his place a little...". Suggested Marcus quietly, sitting down next to her now.

[Rose]

Rin sighed and leaned against Marcus, letting her head rest on his shoulder. "Thank you for being here with me. I don't know what I would do without you." She said softly. Her bright blue eyes looking up at him.

Marcus felt a red flush creeping up his face, looking down awkwardly before putting an arm around her and hugging her to his side. "I don't think you'll have to find out for awhile.". He heard himself saying,

[Rose]

Rin repositioned where she could get a little closer to him, more comfortably. Her breath was a little more choppy and her eyes full of hurt. "I don't think I could stand anything else to happen to the ones I love.." She said quietly. Realizing how he might take that her cheeks blushed.

That tugged at him, and he wrapped his other arm around her and ran his fingers through her hair. "Don't worry about that.". He mumbled,

[Rose]

Rin could feel herself giving in to him. All those walls she had built to protect herself, Crumbling. She had never felt like this for someone. The safety she felt with his arms wrapped around her was comforting beyond compare. what is this feeling? she thought silently.

Marcus chewed his lip, shifting on the bed to get more comfortable but not letting go. This was, nice he decided. It was trust and understanding, just good friends supporting one another. Nothing more, right? Right....Marcus blinked a few times to clear his head before resting his chin atop her head lightly

[Rose]

As seconds began to feel like years Rin contemplated her life, family, and friendship with Marcus. Heart racing yet perfectly comfortable. "Hey! Look what I taught tank! " Charlie exclaimed. The sudden noise jerked Rin and Marcus back to reality, and caused them to distance themselves. After a few more hours spent in her room the three went down for dinner. The meal was awkward and full of Henry shouting at his family. Afterwards it was time for bed. After bathing and putting on a pair of shorts and a tank top Rin got in bed. "you and tank gonna be okay down there?" she asked Marcus as she looked at the couch across her bed room.

"I think we'll manage.". Sighed Marcus before stretching out in the couch and setting the pup down on his chest. At full length his feet still hung off the end though but he didn't mind. Marcus had had a tough time during dinner, having excused himself early and with a mumbled apology to Rin's mother as a way to keep himself from flooring Henry. Now though he was at ease again, in a loose fitting t shirt and some long pajama pants with a dozing puppy curled up in his chest.

[Rose]

Rin tried to sleep but only tossed and turned. She was haunted by the all to familiar sounds of Henry beating her mother, and her mother crying. Thankfully though it was over soon. A few hours passed but she was still unable to sleep. Frustrated and sleepy she stood. Sneaking over to Marcus she dropped down on her knees beside the couch. "Hey" she said quietly.

Marcus turned his head to the side, blinking sleepily at her. "Wassup?". He asked, voice slurred by sleep.

[Rose]

Rin folded her arms on the edge of the couch then rester her chin on them. "I can't sleep." she said with weary eyes. The truth was she was also lonely, but couldn't admit it. The room was barely lit by the moon light shining through the windows.
