Warhammer 40k is awesome because it's the root of everything. Or at least most of the things people care about. The xenomorph comes from the tyranid, starcraft is a blatant 40k ripoff, the idea of elite soldiers in power armour (and even power armour in general) comes from warhammer 40k. Pretty much every sci-fi series or game can be linked to it in some way. Including xcom. Tall psychic blue-skinned aliens who are incredibly powerful yet highly rare? Eldar. Among other things, of course.

Also, it has one of the most expansive and interesting lores in the world. Did you know that, to a non-ork, ork technology doesn't work? The weapons they wield literally don't do anything, the wiring doesn't actually function. They're literally scrap thrown together. The only reason their weapons do anything other than explode is because of their immense psychic powers. They work because the orks believe they work, and their belief literally reshapes reality. Which is an ability they gained because they were originally designed by the Great Old Ones, the most psychically powerful species in the history of 40k.

The thing I love about Orks (I'll build on what @thewizardguy said) is that they are almost underestimated by the rest of the Galaxy but they have the real ability to destroy them if they got their act together. Ghazghkull is currently under the process of doing that. The Warboss is uniting clan after clan and with their collective might, they would ruin the Galaxy (not including the OP nonsense that are the Tyranids). They are one of the more simpler races and I like that about Orks. Dakka is all they need and all they want. There are no other dreams, no complicated plans or overarching concepts. Unlike the rest of the Galaxy, they would survive on violence, squig meat, guns and nothing else.

@SgtEasy Okay, well I'm a fan of Bleach (not really), guess it's alright to use Aizen.

Anyway that wasn't my point.

I don't think anyone wants to see a ridiculously OP army steamroll through everything. The Imperium's severely nerfed numbers was enough to cripple the Conqueror's massive army, so we got the picture. I'm just not super OK with bad guys suddenly gaining OP shit everywhere (they have 2 God level characters and a bunch of super elite chars).

It's not my choice though, it's up to @Lmpkio really. Manifesting my man period here. I'll be more accepting tomorrow probably.

@SgtEasy
The orks are incredibly dangerous. However, the current orks are a mere fraction of their previous power. There were a group of orks that had maintained the power originally granted to them by the Great Old Ones, the Orks of Goro. These orks were so powerful a single Ork Boy was able to hold off a terminator. Their leader was a being of such immense physical and psionic might he was able to go toe to toe with the God Emperor, and broke the God Emperor's back. Their elite soldiers had the size and strength of PRIMARCHS. These orks were so much more powerful than standard orks, they're not even in the same league. And even then it's probable the original Orks were more powerful than even the Orks of Goro.

@Savato
Of course the villains will have OP shit. They always do. That's how stories work.

The point is that the villains won't work together. The tyranids are going to attack the Goa'uld, Outliners and Imperium in equal measure, and most likely they'll be responded to by a unification of both good and evil characters. Hell, even in 40k the tyranids are one of the few things that force everyone to work together. Even the Necron and the Blood Angels were forced to cooperate against the tyranid, and the Necron are literal soulless death machines. It's the reason the Tyranid exist.

The heroes, on the other hand, will unite. Nova is already starting to gather good guys, and is even trying to work with the Goa'uld. The art of cooperation is the greatest ability good guys have.

@thewizardguy I don't mind SOME OP characters, especially with baddies. We all seem to tolerate OP indviduals to an extent.

But a ridiculously OP army? This isn't a Nation RP. It'll kill all fleets, a few powerful people from othe factions will use the power of friendship or something convoluted to kill off the entire 'army' and voilĂ . Maybe some alliances will break or it'll end up being char vs char again.

Sure some big monsters from said army could serve as boss fights to the chars, but I'm mostly concerned about letting such a strong fleet in and doing what conquerors are already doing, but with unstoppable NPC's we'll get bored of fighting after 2 posts. Otherwise it's whatever.

The orks aren't that powerful. Every ork is basically half a space marine. While they are one of the most powerful factions in w40k, they spend most of their time infighting. Most likely an ork invasion would be defeated by a tiny bit of subtlety, rather than any real army-on-army action.

The tyranid can't be defeated by army battles. They just can't. Any time you destroy their troops, they just make more. Literally infinite armies, because they recycle the biomatter of the dead into new soldiers. The only way to defeat the tyranid is to destroy the source, to send an elite team of warriors to destroy either the hive fleet (with the norn queen), or the current hive tyrant, in the case of a smaller army. Once it's production and leadership is down, the hive fleet collapses. Head of the snake. Now if that doesn't sound like a cool story to play through to you, then I disagree with your tastes.

The Tyranids will be incredibly needed to ensure that they aren't OP. They will start off very small and build up. I have always had a slight lean towards weak characters (Banha for example, who for all intents and purposes, useless in a world of people who can destroy him in one hit).

The reason I created Das Jotunheimen is to have an organisation with no sense of good or evil and is entirely neutral. It really depends on the character. The Zombie Duo and Ghazghkull would probably just cause chaos because they hate working with other people. Nathaniel may side with the good guys but it all depends. They are all going to be slightly weaker than they were before by the way, due to some convoluted reason that I'll make up.

If the Tyranids really are a problem for people, *I am flexible and can make sure that I won't be the one Rp'ing them.

EDIT: that last sentence sounds too weird XD. *I can get rid of them

That's good to know about Orks I guess?

I didn't say it wouldn't be epic. I said I disagreed with giving so much importance to a massive group full of ridiculously strong NPC's. It just sounds like a boring experience to the not-so-elite characters that'll likely end up fending off NPC's. Sure they can interact, that's always a plus, but there's something I find VERY unappealing about this. It's a question of preference, not what I find cool and not cool.

Also I noticed a few people aren't fond of overwhelmingly OP shit. Flamelord manifested it with Apocalypse's death but I'm sure many were glad such a thing was gone. Not everyone agrees with OP stuff being abundant. Even if it can be fun at times.

@SgtEasy
Aye there's nothing against you or your choices, I'm mostly manifesting my concern toward letting supposed OP groups full of NPC's rob the scene. I don't doubt your ability of making it more appealing.

... You do know your group is best described as Chaotic Evil right? They give more of a common goal to everyone than the Conquerors with their chaotic and nihilistic behavior. Unless they actually don't destroy everything and it's all a bluff. Well anyway, they can be neutral if you want yeah, I just thought their motives were insanely psychopathic and batshit crazy.

I can't prevent you from using them. And hey, you could actually do something good. But yeah, I'm not fond of OP NPC's everywhere.

Kill the armies now. We have enough factions already. Perhaps later we can add them in but cmon guys. Let's not overload this RP with these factions.

Now grimlock is confronted with physical holograms of both autobots and deceptions that he knows. And every single one of them is attacking him. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to that.

Also, I will note. They are still holograms. Physical holograms, yes. They will hurt. But they are fragile and will not kill grimlock. Information your going to need @mtntopview
