Um, regardless of how inexperienced they are, a White Lantern's sheer variety and scope of powers, the fact that they could easily screw up any other lanterns in the setting just by existing and have a large amount of potential for abusing other Lantern characters, and the fact that they only exist in response to Blackest Night and to stop Black Lanterns all means a White Lantern seems pretty blatantly unacceptable not to mention they have no reason for existing in this setting seeing as Blackest Night is not part of the game ATM. While I know I should probably leave it up to the GM's to decide it ultimately, I feel like I at least have to say I'm extremely uncomfortable about a player PC-ing a White Lantern unless it's temporary and in response to an event and even then...yeah.just thought it needed saying and will refrain from saying any more on the subject.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Well It might have been a good idea to bring this up before the RP started

...You posted the character last night and the site's been down for quite some time today.

There's also the fact that newbie characters will eventually have that "moment of truth" where they realize the potential of their powers, make full use of them, and kick everyone's ass.
Dblade is right, the White Lanterns arise exclusively in response to the Blackest Night, and they aren't even an established Corp like the Red or Green Lanterns. They're connected to the entity of life just like the Black Lanterns are connected to the entity of death. Also, don't the WLs only arise when all 7 corps have united or something?

Alright, after doing some research I've discovered something that kind of worries me.

Not only is there an extreme lack of super villains (character controlled ones, I mean), it also seems like we have an OVERDOSE on Lantern's. At this rate, we just need a Pink Lantern and a Black Lantern, then you guys can form the "Mighty Morphin' Power Lantern's". As of now, I'm putting out a ban on Lantern characters. I get its a large fandom (and personally, Green Lantern is a cool hero), but I'm noticing an abundance of them rather then other characters.

Also, Card Captor, I learned a bit more about the White lanterns because yesterday, I was just too tired to bother with anything like that. What I found made me seriously stunned. First off, White Lanterns, while useful in comic books, would be extremely broken in terms of an RP. Second, as much as I love Godzilla (who has appeared in comics before. Currently, the rights are held by Darkhorse), it doesn't make sense that your character would be fighting against the King of the Monsters ALONE. If Godzilla was on the loose, the JLA, Avengers, and possibly every super team in the world would be focused on that location to eliminate the threat posed by the 500ft Radioactive Godzillasaur. Third, even with the powers of a white lantern, your character would die if he created a giant robot mech for himself. I'm sorry, but I have a thing against giant robot mechs that can be used as tools to get around GMing. Fourth, it was made clear in the posts before that Doctor Doom was a primary character in the backstory of Princess Von Doom, so he's off limits. If you had planned with her before hand to use him, that would have been fine, but it seems like you picked a name and jumped into it. If you had other plans to possibly meet with her character and form an interaction, then again, should have discussed it with her before saying you're following Doctor Doom. Fifth, White Rings. I'm not gonna tell you to retcon your character by any definition of the word, but we seriously need to talk about this. Either I've gotta put EXTREME limitations on what you can and can't do (especially with how young Jason is), or you need to tone his powers down from over 9000 to 10. I'm not that familiar with the Lantern Corps, but I know that there are limitations on what you can and can't do. Making a gigantic mech to fight Godzilla would probably kill a Lantern of any kind.

And again, White Lanterns are a very elite group formed to deal with apocalyptic situations. Seeing as how Satan hasn't risen from the depths of hell in this world, I don't see the point of his creation. Maybe having him as a different colored lantern would work much better, seeing as how Blackest Night isn't anywhere CLOSE to what we're doing with the plot.

Also, those names were chosen at absolute random to showcase different levels of power amongst super beings. It didn't really mean that Doctor Doom was amongst those who escaped, it used him as an example.

I realize that some of these things have been clarified and even explained (such as the Godzilla thing) but I still feel that a White Lantern is defiantly the WRONG choice for this. Its mostly my fault because I didn't take time to realize what exactly was wrong with that type of lantern, but you also should have contacted me to ask about its powers. I understand that guys like Deadpool (while difficult to examine) don't really need permission for creation, but a guy who has the capabilities to control other characters at will, practically steal their powers, and nearly alter the physical reality of the world, the definitions between life and death, with a simple flick of the wrist.. Seems way too GM for me.

I get you put in a lot of effort to try and make the character look and sound good, but a broken idea in comics is still broken in an RP.

The closest thing to the Star Sapphires would be the Indigo Lanterns, who are fueled by compassion.

And card, nobodies getting angry or frustrated at you. You're not at fault, I am. I was ignorant of the fact and didn't help out when I could, but now we've gotten into this situation as we're just trying to casually fix it. No hard feelings meant, man. Just trying to help out ^^

I have never read a super hero comic book in my life. My knowledge of White Lantern's is limited to what I've read on the internet. I knew they had more powers then other lanterns, but I didn't realize how much stronger they were. I chose a White Lantern because I felt it had the best potential for character development. I was willing to take any nerf needed to make it work. I just thought a character who's super power left them vulnerable to mood swings had great potential

Also, I'm sorry if I'm sounding like a Red Lantern right now (were complaining about White Lanterns, so why not make the joke). It's just that this kind of thing has happened to me before; I make a character for an RP, and a few days after it starts, everyone gets on my case about them (I think it was a fantasy RP). I ended up just dropping out because we had gone too far in for me to change, and everyone was starting to get a little hostile.

I went ahead and replaced my opening post with a '.'. I'll fix it after I revamp Jason. It might take some time though, I'm not 100% sure what I want to do with him now

Dude, I said not to worry. The RP's just starting, don't worry. We'll work together as a group to help make your character better and give you some guidance. You made a mistake, plain and simple. No need to think about leaving over it.

Um, my first post is okay right? I was having trouble working out anything that directly dealt with the breakout to start with so I tried to excuse things by having Valeria miss the news, eh-heh.

It was good. I like how you keep starting them with really dramatic scenarios, but it turns out to be her just shopping for groceries or food XD

Eh-heheh, um, the idea is that Valeria hasn't experienced many of these situations before so it's actually kind of dramatic for her in a way.

She's not used to having to buy food or anything, eh-heh.
