Story
The College of Ikazaki City has always provided magi with a sanctuary; it's very existence was to teach such magi how to become skilled summoners. Such magi were trained to summon familiars within the College's very walls. These familiars fell under seven classes: Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. The pairs became lifelong companions, for if one perished, so would the other.
The magi's futures were drastically changed when the Flower of Eden reappeared after one thousand years. The glowing ivory flower was said to grant a mage superior power above all else and grant their every wish, but at a cost-- their mind would be clouded with corruption, and eventually, they would become something entirely different.
A group of magi decided that they would take the risk, and set out in search of the mystical blossom. After a long amount of time searching for such a thing, the reached it before the College could, and kept it in their possession. As lore dictated, the magi were granted extreme amounts of power... enough to take over the whole of Japan. Within just one year, their reign covered the entirety of the nation, replacing the island's government with their own trusted.
While the rest of the nations struggle to deal with the traitorous magi's coup in the most discrete way possible, the other magi are ruthlessly persecuted by the new rulers' followers. They are driven underground in a last attempt to flee, but unfortunately for them, many beasts roam beneath the surface of the earth. The magi and their familiars must find a way to survive both above and underground as they figure out how to solve the chaos that has enveloped their very way of being.
Plot
You are either a mage or Servant struggling to survive underneath Ikazaki City. You must find a way to work together in order to survive against the numerous creatures dwelling within the shadows. Dragons and basilisks may be encountered, as the Underground holds many things other than the dwelling that the magi and Servants have made themselves. At the same time, you must find a way to regain your home and your very way of living... or die trying.
Setting
Ikazaki City is a metropolis, to say the least. This city is much like New York City or London; there are several waterways and canals, and buildings that scrape the sky. You can find anything here, from bookstores to schools. The College of Ikazaki City once made its home within the very heart of the metropolis, but is now empty and being rebuilt.
The Underground, or so the magi call it, is an extensive labyrinth of tunnels and rooms directly beneath Ikazaki City. The magi and their Servants make their home here-- they have carved entrances and exits to several parts of the Underground after some time. Deeper underground lies the Uncharted Area, where most of the monsters roam and brood. Several monsters, however, often make their way into the Underground and attack the magi and their Servants.
Mages and their Servants
Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Berserker, Assassin-- these are the seven classes of Servants that make themselves known to the magi. They are Heroic Spirits, past lives that have fought for a cause, no matter what it was. A magi summons one of the classes once they are strong enough, which was marked by the passing of several exams within the walls of the College. Now, the magi decide who is strong enough to perform the summoning ceremony.
The larger amount of mana, or stronger life-force, that a mage has, the stronger the class they summon. Once the Servant and their Master come into contact, a bright red brand appears on their right hand. The brand, called a Command Seal, is made up of three parts-- these three parts are used to give three orders, one at a time, they cannot refuse. Once the Command Seals run out, the Servant has free reign whether or not to follow their Master's command. The Command Seal also bonds the Servant and Master together for life. If either of them dies, so does the other.
The Servant, being a paranormal force that has begun to live a new life on Earth, has several abilities. Firstly, they are able to sense if their Master is in danger. Secondly, they are able to appear and reappear by will, much like specters. Finally, they have a variety of powers ranging from summoning a mount to summoning a storm of hellfire, all depending on who they were when they were living for the first time. The most powerful of these abilities are what is called a Noble Phantasm, which is the Servant's ultimate ability. Some examples of Noble Phantasms are King Arthur's Excalibur or Gilgamesh's Gates of Babylon-- the power reveals their true name to any foe, but also reveals a variety of weaknesses... for if another Servant or magi knows their true name, they could use it to their advantage.
Magi have several powers, but are relatively weak. They must focus on one field of magic as they usually store their mana for summoning Servants; they are able to summon flames (and other elements), illusions, or smaller, weaker familiars to defend themselves when their Servant is not around. Magi are also trained in hand to hand combat and the use of weapons, such as guns or daggers.
