Depending what the GM things, I'd be ok with having an enemy character in the mix, so long as they aren't overpowered and any fight with them leads with constant losses.

At least balance the scales.

@Doc Doctor
  • The recruits are your characters -- they have a variety of skills, backgrounds and reasons for associating with the Vigil; some are maimed veterans that want the implants and all the possibilities they offer, others have lost friends, family and lovers to the vampires. They are willing to undergo the dehumanizing and dangerous process of cybernetic implantation.
    ...
  • No thank you on half-vampires and daywalkers. This is about the victims.

Page 1 OOC.

You haven't exactly read through the OOC properly. Even the Character sheet template that HeySeuss put up doesn't talk about the ability to choose a Vampire, nor has he given any info on the type of vampires that he will be using. (Prob cause he has a design thought up and is going to keep the cards close to his chest)

I have no problem losing for plot.

@NuttsnBoltsPerhaps the GM might be accepting of various vampire breeds? Let's leave it up to the viss man.

Depending on setting, yeah I agree. However, as stated, I meant -constant- losses, as in never a chance to win. I don't mind RPing a losing battle but every battle can't be pre-determined. Which is why I suggested balancing the scales. If there is a vampire, he should be on par with the augmented people fighting him/her (in the player's case). In the GMs case, they are free to maky as many overpowered enemies as they want.

I'm sorry, but there is a guiding vision for the vampires and I don't want to share it because a lot of that is plot twist territory. I'm not accepting vampire characters.

The Eternal keep a close eye on the Catholics due to the Inquisition and previous history, but they don't fear it. The Vigil is not closely aligned with it, though it's possible they might recruit a person or two from Catholic institutions but they steer clear of leadership and any overt contact that might arouse suspicion. There is a history of manipulating the Catholic Church through thralls...the vampires have thralls in a lot of key points of influence. Not necessarily politicians themselves, but the bureaucrats and people who can make things happen and keep things under wraps.

Firearms and hand to hand combat each have their place here.

Niiiice. Second batch; I know there's alot of replacement of limbs, etc. , Cybernetics sorta shtick. What about subdermal implants though? Say, instead of replacing a lost limb, just adding or altering to what's already there? Wires under the skin, as it were?

And do any of the vampiric lore holds true? Silver, running water, counting rice, that sort of thing?

Yeah. Those augmentations definitely exist and are alluded to- bone lacing, fiber-reinforcement of muscle, subdermal armor and other things as you think of them. The limb replacement was an obvious case for someone dismembered by a vampire. Extreme case, basically.

As to the lore, I feel like that is something they'll have to find out with study of their foes.

In my character I didn't want to add too much in the way of replacement limbs, but more enhanse what's already there (eg:her heart). It seems a bit illogical to cut off a perfectly fine limb when it could be repaired and mended, but that would all depend on the damage that was taken. I just enjoy seeing how far some people go with the boundaries, how much human is left, and how much damage the character can endure.

"It's only a flesh wound"
"The arm isn't connected go the body!"
"So? Just put a band aid on it"

I would think for anyone taking a vampire on in hand to hand, significant enhancement is required. To land shots on them consistently, also significant enhancement if they aren't standing still at long range. Basically, there's a reason why humans haven't been able to take them on for a long, long time.

But limb replacement isn't the only route the Vigil took on enhancements is what I am saying. By the same token, survivors of vampire attacks tend to be maimed -- either the Eternal are toying with humans or they're trying to get them out of the way quickly and full force, which is lethal given the velocity they strike at.
