Ultimately the Golden Knight will let him go after some intense interrogation, with a good cop/bad cop ordeal. Assuming your honest and you say you're just there to investigate the disturbance, they'll let you go with a slap on the wrist, but warn that you should not interfere with Midgard business for your own safety. Also you're on watch now, so stay on good behavior.

In a nutshell, he basically has to keep his thoughts on the whole ordeal to himself, lest he be branded a traitor for such thoughts unless in relative safety and is completely sure there is no one from the Imperium watching him.

Awesome - Acerbus should basically hold up a huge neon sign saying "Come here for some trouble!" at this point, because basically everywhere he goes invites this sort of thing, lets be honest xP

Oh, and to add on to my previous statement about bloodborne WoWD, we will also possibly fight church guy.

I wonder if I can still get in on that, unless you two are pretty far ahead already, in which case I'll just work on those dual posts of catch up dialogue and join them on the hunt maybe?

I was thinking I'd throw some simple stuff at us to stall for time, but if you want to be in charge, I can dig. I was feeling a bit of a metroid-y vibe for this area, was thinking of some environmental hazards, some creepy critters, then a ghost-alien-warrior boss.

You can do small threats and traps for the most part. But I'll be controlling the boss in the dungeons. The alien-warrior cool be a mini-boss.

Then again, Exilia is a lovely place. Fight to the death tournament where students are pit against each other is a nice prospect, especially with the Puppet Masters presence.
