We're not candidates, and the fact it's not candidates was what originally made me think we had flame abilities already, or could have flame abilities.

Well to be fair the 10th generation were all chosen and the only reason their were other "candidates" was because of Xanxus replacing the Ninth with a fake. So just because your already chosen and know about it doesn't indicate that you'd have flame abilities yet.

Well, technically everyone is a candidate until the new generation is sworn in or whatever. If another candidate is chosen, then there will be a ring conflict. At least that's how I understood the way the vongola worked.

The ring conflict occurs when the current boss and the external advisor have chosen different people as boss and guardians using the Vongola half-rings. It's a rare thing though.

Yeah. It's like a power struggle between factions in any crime I believe. If another faction with the right requirements rises up, they can also vie for the spot.

Sounds okay, though I would say it's less of someone he can be less cautious around, and more of this strange friendship where he can just be more tolerated, since he can be quite insulting at times, sneaking in subtle insults in his dialogue sometimes.

Though for a strange friendship, they would also have had to have met on strange terms.

Hisaki's uncle did that thing parents/guardians do when they give invites to the whole class. Ayumu was the only one who showed up/stayed. He also ate half the cake.

Ayumu was looking to research the art of 'being thug' and went to the most convenient, least-inclined-to-beat-him-up-for-fun person he knew of.

They were groupmates in a class project that nobody ever speaks of. There's nothing particularly weird or sinister about it; they just don't.

They frequent the same seafood restaurants. One day they independently visit a newly-opened restaurant. They get hospitalized for severe food poisoning and end up sharing a room.

The restaurant has, of course, hired a partially Italian chef who was very excited to implement some rediscovered recipes* made by his grandaunt that are, quote-unquote, "totally delicious I swear".

*which, for some odd reason, come out purple.
