Shiranui was confident he'd make the top 32 and while he made his way back to the room he heard a giggle in his mind. He stopped to look around and did not see any psychic Pokémon in his vicinity.

Liam and Jiriya walked back to the room he was sleeping in earlier, which Joy arranged for Shiranui to have as well. They got separated form Shiranui in the crowd. They eventually caught up to him while he was looking in their direction.
"Something wrong?" Liam asked.
"Ninja?" Jiriya inquired.

"I heard a giggle in my mind and I couldn't see any psychic Pokémon around at that time," answered Shiranui.

"Well, We will find out what's going on eventually." Liam said. "For now, me and Jiriya are going to clean up and get some rest."

"Alright," replied Shiranui, deciding to put his psychic hunt on hold for now, "I'll do the same after you."

Soon after, Liam went to bed. In the morning, all of the trainers gathered at the smaller arenas around the main stage to begin prelims. (insert montage set to Advanced Battle theme youtu.be/7pkIVd9w9x4)

After all of the prelims, the top sixteen included: Liam, Shiranui, Nando, Morrison, Harrison, Ash, Tyson, Liam's rival Trevor, and some others.

"It's time for the first battle of the top eight!" The Announcer called. "In the Red corner, we have from Eckurteak City, Johto, Hoenn's new Top Cordinator, Shiranui Tuskiko!" The announcer waited for the cheers to die down. In the Green corner, from Vermillion City, Kanto we have Trevor Walton!" Once both trainers were in position, The Ref called for the trainers to call out their first Pokémon.
"Arcanine! Let's go!" Trevor called.

"Sunakaba, I choose you!" Shiranui sent his Hippowdon out and a sandstorm immediately started blowing.

A Sandstorm was tipped up. "Sunny Day!" Trevor called. The Sandstorm ceased and intense sunlight beat down on the battlefield.

"Sunakaba, Stealth Rock!" After Arcanine changed the weather, Sunakaba fired a salvo of rocks from the holes on his body. The rocks implanted themselves into the ground on Trevor's side of the battlefield, creating one of the most commonly-used entry hazards.

"Solar Beam!" Trevor called. A blast of solar energy barrlled toward Hippowdon.

"Sunakaba, return; Numeru, stand your ground!" Shiranui switched out his Hippowdon and sent in his Goodra. Numeru made no effort to dodge the attack and the Solar Beam connected. When the dust faded, Numeru was unscathed and in fact physically stronger thanks to her Sap Sipper ability.

"Dragon Pulse!" Trevor called. He wore a smug look, sure that Shiranui wasn't expecting that.

"Numeru, hit that Dragon Pulse for a line drive with Dragon Tail!" Numeru's tail glowed a bright cyan as the Goodra whacked the Dragon Pulse like a batter at the plate for a straight line drive.

Arcanine was hit with its own attack. "Arcanine, Aerial Ace!"

"Numeru, use Dragon Tail once more!" As Arcanine charged at Numeru, the Goodra's tail glowed again as she readied another Dragon Tail, this time getting ready to hit Arcanine for a home run.

Arcanine was forced to switch out, and was replaced by Lairon.

"Lairon, Metal Burst!" He called.

The Stealth Rock popped out of the ground and did a little bit of damage to Lairon before re-burying itself. "Numeru, Bide!" Shiranui was familiar with how Metal Burst worked and after Numeru started a Bide attack, there was no power for Lairon to retaliate with.

"Automatize!" Trevor called. Lairon built up his speed. The sunlight returned to normal. Goodra would be stuck gathering energy still. Trevor called for Roar right before Bide would have fired if Numeru had been hit by any moves.
