Nolan is fairly hardheaded as an individual. She does things her own way and likes that. However, she's also rather family and friend oriented and will do anything to help her family and friends. She is a hard worker and most would think of her as a quiet soul, but when in the company of those she trusts, she will open up and speak her mind, often talking a bit too much.

A good fighter, Nolan has her head about her. She is calm in bad situations but when someone she loves is in danger, she tends to get less careful and will do anything to save them, risking herself in the process. She'd rather herself get hurt than experience the pain of losing someone again.

Nellie grew up in a serving family. Her father always protected the head of the family's son and when that son became the head of the family, nothing really changed. Cornelia, a twin, was often with her brother and the son of the family, whom her brother, Nolan, would be the future Knight of. A few months before they were both about to attend Saint Valerius, something happened to Nolan and he was put into a coma. Unwilling to let anyone know what really happened to Nolan, Cornelia and her father decided it would be best to trick the young master and send herself as his Knight, just until Nolan, the real Nolan, woke up.

Personality: Ollie is content. She is happy with herself and her choices and always lives knowing that she is fully aware of her choices and where she's come from. She is very accepting of others though when treated like a weakling, she won't back down. She hates being called a coward more than anything and will challenge anyone who dares call her such. She feels very protective of females she deems "Princesses" and will defend them as much as she can. Though, often after saving them she will then reprimand them and teach them a few things on how to save themselves next time. It is her aim to make all of the "Princesses" smile to the best of her ability.

Background/History: Ollie grew up rather normal, well, normal for... her family. With a family of artists, Ollie grew up around paintings and singing and... interesting personalities. Her family was so liberal that they allowed her whatever freedoms she wanted, including her spending habits. Her father is a famous painter, her mother a rather famous ballerina and her plethora of brothers and sisters are all either singers or dancers. However, Ollie never really enjoyed that lifestyle. She much preferred the life of muscles and often looked up to the strong princes she saw on Television and in books. (She's also a bit of a romantic bookworm). She never saw herself as the damsel in distress, however, but longed to be the Knight in shining armor. And so, she asked for training. Her parents agreed, but thought that also learning to dance would help her and so, in order to train herself with a sword, she also took dance classes.

Often while alone in her room (the precious time that it was) Ollie would dance with her sword, a technique she developed on her own. Which, when she uses against her brothers, it often confuses them but soon they caught on and performed with her, a swords dance. Since, Ollie has developed her Swords Dance (pokemon reference, lel) and chosen to dress as a guy and let others believe she is a guy. She isn't necessarily hiding it, but she loaths being treated like a weak girl which her brothers and sisters can atest to. She won't deny her gender but she won't go around telling people she's a girl either. She's more content to just be who she is.

Background/History:

Ezra, being a Noble, was born with everything. But not every Noble is fine with that. Her parents of course just wanted what was best for her, and that meant spending a considerable portion of their wealth on her. But Ezra was different...different than all the other Noble children who reveled in the privilege they were born into. She felt from an early age that she should earn everything she had. Her parents repeatedly emphasized to her that she didn't HAVE to as she was a Noble and thus guaranteed a cushy life. When she protested, they would gently remind her that going out and trying to earn things would not only be impossible (as she would be given things by the local populace, for she was a Noble), but also dangerous (because life outside of an all-expenses-paid indefinite vacation has actual dangers to surmount). Reluctantly, she would resign herself to her exalted existence and get on with her life. But as she grew older, it was more difficult to get her to relent due to puberty, more time passed, and more knowledge gained. Ezra would read books constantly, trying to learn everything she could about the world outside and why she was given everything when so many were given nothing. When she could never find anything, it troubled her more and more, and soon she began sneaking out to try to either work for things or give things she was given to less fortunate people. She was caught once early on, and that experience was enough motivation for her to get so good at flying under the radar that she never got caught again. She became crafty, having to think of reasons to tell the butler why she didn't need food when everyone else did. Eventually she went off to Saint Valerius Academy to continue her education. She was home free from the tyranny of her status...or so she thought.

She quickly discovered that the academy was just as coddling to Nobles as her parents were...and she now even had her own personal bodyguard?! Needless to say she remained uncomfortable with her surroundings, but soon gained a more positive outlook. With her parents no longer watching over her, she did have more personal freedom day to day, so she turned her education into a challenge. How many people could she help while remaining under the radar? It turned out not many, but through her actions around the campus (that nobody seemed to be able to witness firsthand) she became somewhat of a legend. Everyone in the academy really liked her, but couldn't really explain why and half the time didn't even remember she existed because she stayed hidden so much, performing random acts of kindness behind the scenes to people both in and out of the academy.

Personality:

Despite being a Noble, Ezra exists to help others, particularly those less privileged than her. She's learned to live with her status and to use it for good, and that's what she spends most of her day doing when not in classes. She is polite and courteous and loves following the rules, but is simultaneously always looking for ways to break them in ways that somehow help other people. She doesn't offend and her soft voice is welcome to everyone, but some wonder if this town really needs a Robin Hood.

Personality:

Unlike Ezra, Charlotte does not object to her status. Rather, she basks in it. The world is hers to play in, and she knows it. She is very easily detestable, but if you can get past the rampant haughtiness, she can be a very sweet individual. Because she spends so much time spending all of her endless flow of money on the nicest clothes, shoes, etc., she doesn't have much time left in her very busy schedule to be arrogant at people. She instead resorts to quiet confidence, with a tiny grin (like in the picture) on her face most of the time. Her strategy, in her own words, is to "let my face do the talking, and my clothes do the walking." She figures that if she's always dressed to the nines for maximum stareworthiness, she won't even have to bother saying anything. People will just KNOW. Most of the time, it works, and she is well known for being the most stereotypically Noble Noble in the academy. Despite her extreme ego, she is never rude, and often quite nice to talk to. Condescension can creep out, but she will never blatantly talk down to a lesser mortal (i.e. everyone, according to her).

Background/History:

Charlotte was born to parents whose income would make even most Noble families jealous. From day one she was bestowed with every conceivable luxury, and her parents were so deluded from the overflowing wealth that they did what they thought was best for their child in the only way they knew how: spending the GDP of small countries on her. Charlotte ate it up, and her progression to her current personality was inevitable. That said, her parents' sensibilities weren't completely swallowed by their enormous wealth, and they taught her that she had every right to flaunt, but no right to be rude about it.

Personality: Elizabeth is one step away from being a tomboy- her love of beautiful dresses and feminine ballgowns. She often prefers the company of guys. She is not afraid to get her hands, or any part of her for that matter, dirty. Her parents used to joke she had a relationship with mud as a child.

She is a very bright young girl, her intelligence is what allowed her into the school. She is very strong-willed and quite stubborn, although she tries to keep an open mind she has teouble doing so, particularly on subjects she is really passionate about. She is very well-mannered around adults and people she doesn't know but she's not afraid to show some sass toward her friends and enemies. She loves joking around with her friends and never had much interest in girly things despite dresses, oddly enough she has a great love of those.

Background/History:
Elizabeth was born to as the third and youngest child, and only daughter, cattle farmer and his pianist wife. Having only brothers there was not much chance of her being very girly. Her father bred cattle for both beef and milk and the income from his produce was quite solid. When including the payments from her mother's occansional gigs at local cafes, bars and festivals the family were just toward the higher end of the lower middle class.

Elizabeth always excelled in her studies unlike her brothers, who both remained average students, Elizabeth was leaps and bounds in front of most of her peers, not that many over-achievers dwelled in mainstream schooling, particularly in her town but, regardless, her intelligence caught the eye of an anonymous noble who funds her education. The so-called noble has not revealed themselves or stepped forward but would not take no as an answer for funding her education. (happy to change that end part to her getting a scholarship if you want)

Personality:Confident and Loyal are under statements when applied to Evangeline. She is a woman of extreme self assurance, to whom respect is everything. Her opinions of people are entirely based on how that person treats her and the people she cares about. She's always quick to retaliate against a snide remark or derrision.

Background/History:

By all rights, Evangeline should have grown up to be a Noble. She comes from a long line of distinguished women. And if not for misfortunes surrounding her birth, she would have been one herself.

Her mother died in childbirth, leaving her father, a retired Knight, to raise her by himself. It wasn't long until Evangeline took interest in his line of work, and quickly excelled under his tutelage. Instead of learning to wield a quill, she learned to wield a sword, and instead of playing an instrument, she played battlefields and games of strategy. Before she even joined the academy, she made a name for herself with her quick wit and skills with both spear and rapier, earning the title "Viper".

Personality: Evan hates everything about being a "noble". He hates that people treat him differently because of his birth. he hates that he's expected to act proper at all times. he hates that even his childhood friend is duty bound to protect him. 

Evan openly rebels against his upbringing whenever he can, sneaking out at night, picking fights with other nobles, even refusing any money from his parents. The only thing about his past he doesn't hate are his childhood friends, Nolan and Nellie.

Background/History: Evan belongs to a familly of old blood, nobles who can trace their lineage back over two hundred years, and from a young age, he was expected to present himself with dignity and pride. over the years, he became increasingly dissatisfied with his life, having to take etiquette lessons and learn to play instruments, when the money for those lessons could easilly feed a starving familly instead. His acts of open rebellion started when he was twelve, wearing commoner clothing and sneaking out at night to walk among the common folk. 

After his most recent escape attempt, a trip outside the country that lasted two months, he was sent to the Academy in the hopes it would be straighten him out. His protector, Nolan, was sent with him to keep an eye on him.

Personality:
Raven is basically the embodiment of strong and silent. He is not one to show his feelings very well and he seems to hardly ever smile. He is a very focused person and prefers to always be vigilant rather to relax and have fun. He can be open at some times, but it is mainly when he thinks no one is looking. He is actually quite intelligent, very well versed in battle strategies and war tactics, but he can have a temper at times. He is working on his anger, but since he just barely realized he has a problem, it might be awhile before he can fully control it. He is loyal to his friends and employers but he tends to be irrational and goes based on instinct rather than based on the actual situation.

Background/History:
Raven was born the only child to a dying family line. His father was the only son of his father and his grandfather's brother died less than a year ago. His father was a Knight at Saint Valerius, but was long retired. Being the only child, he was expected to follow in his father's footsteps, which was against what he truly wanted to do, which was become an engineer. His father is his only remaining relative, his mother dying when he was two years old, and he did not want to disappoint him, so he agreed to go and be a Knight at Saint Valerius. He does what he can to make his father proud, though his father hardly sees it at times. Ever since he was little, his father wanted him to be perfect, and somehow he only manages to still see the flaws in Raven, though he is highly ranked out of the Knights, which was something his father was not able to do at his time at Saint Valerius.

Personality:
Shaw is that guy that you see who looks nice on the outside, but a devil child underneath. He is a major flirt, and it really doesn't matter gender, sexual orientation, or preference of any kind. He will do almost anything to get what he wants. He has the mindset that if he did not put you in the situation, he should not save you, but manages to hide it very well underneath a curtain of lies with why he didn't save you. He is a compulsive liar. He seems to not have a good side, but there are a few who still believe he can change.

Background/History:
Shaw grew up in a seemingly happy family. At least on the outside of the house. On the inside, his father came home drunk every night and his mother worked three jobs trying to keep them afloat. Born very attached to his father, Shaw saw as if his father could do no wrong, which came a problem when he began beating both Shaw and Shaw's mother. Shaw knew it would be over soon and that his father would still love him afterwards, but his mother did not understand his blind love for his father. Worrying for both the father's safety and Shaw's, his mother (who is not an intelligent woman), thought it would be a good idea to send Shaw out with his father on his nights, thinking that if his father spent time with him, he would change.

Shaw was the one who changed though. He copied his father more often, and while the pair grew closer, his mother became increasing worriedly. She decided to send Shaw to become a Knight, as she felt if she could not save his father, she could still save him, which is not likely...

Conrad prefers to sit back and watch how things go. As a younger sibling, he was used to being forced to sit and watch while the ‘heirs’ debated policies and topics related to the local governance. This lead to his current habits. In social settings, he prefers to insert himself into conversations where he deems necessary, and just as easily slide away. He truly prefers smaller closed groups to larger ones, provided the participants are intelligent and interesting. In short, Conrad could be described as patient, quiet, and clever. Stupidity is off-putting to him, though he observes the traditional traits of chivalry as both noble and worth pursuing.

Background:

Conrad was raised with two older brothers in a wealthy family located in central Switzerland. His two brothers, as successors and heirs to the family company, were given special education under tutors and philosophers in business law. Conrad received a milder education, focusing more on reading, writing, and mathematics than business and relations. The result was a man who loved reading and philosophy. He took to independent studies when he could, focusing on the art of conversation, political theory, and law. He eventually was capable of debating with his brothers face to face, and his father, far from discouraging it, decided to send Conrad to Saint Valerius to make peace between the three brothers, and to allow Conrad an opportunity beyond what he would have received at home. After entering the school, he was content to sit in the back and watch and listen, learning from the mistakes of his peers, and from the clever antiques of the upperclassmen.

His goal is to make connections that will help him later in life, recognizing that the academy holds the future of countless nations on campus. Because of this, he tries to avoid social games, such as the knight ranking and the banter between the various cliques. Hold a neutral position, and remain friendly to with those worth knowing, and he may have a bright future in his countries politics on the Federal Council. He aspires to be Switzerland's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Personality:

Kelvin is not the passive type, and likes to make his opinion known. Ordinarily, this isn’t quite desired in a guard, but Kelvin also possesses a deep respect for social order, and defers to his employer in all things. He is incredibly loyal, and will not show any disagreement outside of private communications between himself and his superiors, unless he feels the situation is extremely dangerous. His first priority is the protection of his charge, the second the safety of civilians, and his own third.

Background:

Kelvin comes from a largely uneducated family in a small town. He was allowed to stay with his family until he turned fourteen, when he volunteered for training as security for the local leadership. His loyalty was his one redeeming trait that separated him from the other personnel, and Kelvin was favored for it, until a noble further up the command chain one day took notice of him while visiting his the area. Kelvin's family was offered a handsome stipend for his services, and so he moved away from his family and began advanced combat training as a bodyguard for his new employers.

This lead to his current role as a knight, and his attitude has remained largely the same- the safety of his charge first and foremost. To him, dueling is a necessary evil, and if his noble commands, he will fight.

Kelvin’s Equipment

Kelvin prefers lighter armor for flexibility, though with modern alloys it remains quite strong over the sections of his body it does cover.

Light Armor

For his blade, Kelvin prefers a weapon from his homeland called a Kreigmesser, a curved blade slightly longer than a longsword with a nail, or shelled guard. It is suited for cleaving cuts and slashes more than stabs, though it is capable of such. Despite its appearance, Kreigmesser’s possess excellent balance along with their cutting power. It is comparable to longswords in that it can be wielded with one hand, though Kelvin prefers a two-handed grip for aggressive combat. His combat style reflects his weapon, following that of grappling and firm stances rather than fluidity and lightning strikes.

Kelvin rather have a medium shield that is large enough to be useful, yet small enough to cast off quickly than a door or dinner plate sized piece of metal.
