they are what humans call genies, but a whole lot cooler

If you go by supernatural they don't grant wishes instead making the individual think they did while draining the person of blood to feed
and they are ridiculously powerful
djinn are awesome and were actually in the Arabian nights tales

Supernatural was kinda close, but now that you say it a wish granting Fae sounds much cooler. There is also the golden sun lore... But I definantly have to look up Arabian nights version now.

No you are correct. According to wiki, I know how wrong it can be, they are neither good nor evil and can be neutral. Though they can fly, take the form of smoke less fire or physical form. They listen to the heavens for secrets but no longer can, are invisible to humans and have the choice to reveal themselves. They are pretty much ultimate assasins, genies are considered the angelic version of them, but there are five different demonic versions. Some were slaves to Solomon for a time instructing his advisors. Crazy stuff.
