♦ Outgoing ♦ Unlawful ♦ Resourceful ♦ Greedy ♦To put it simply, Grant doesn’t care about anything but having fun. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep a party going for as long as possible. He happily provides drugs and booze to his friends, never really specifying how he obtains either substance. He’s a bit of a ne’er-do-well, not caring about the law and happily, often breaking it. He knows that something might eventually catch up with him, and maybe, when it does, he’s screwed. But so far, so good. He thinks as long as he avoids the law he’ll be fine, and that’s working for now, but eventually his willingness to break the law will land himself in something he can’t deal with, either with the law or with fellow criminals. It’s rumored, however, that he has some kind of ‘dirt’ on the local police, which is why he gets away with everything so easily.
He’s very outgoing, and is often the host of the somewhat crazy parties he and the group get into. He invites anyone and everyone; his ultimate dream is to have a Project X-esque party, where it gets on the national news and the consequences of it are felt throughout the town for ages afterward. It’s a bit of a pipe dream, and Grant realizes that, but he’s been slowly building a massive storage of the necessary supplies for such a get together:
thousands of dollars worth of drugs, and gallons upon gallons of booze. Only his closest of friends know about his plan to throw the party to end all parties, and only they know of his ‘storage.’
Grant is incredibly resourceful. It seems that he knows everyone in the town they’re from, and that everyone owes him a favor. Even the older folks, who don’t normally associate with people his age seem to owe him for something, which has prompted ‘I know a guy.’ to almost become his catchphrase. He cashes in on his favors whenever he needs to, and always does his best to quickly earn another favor.
He’s greedy. He’s known to have a different get rich quick scheme almost weekly. He’s not scared of the consequences, and will screw almost anyone to get a bigger reward for himself. Nearly everything he does that isn’t party-related is focused around his ultimate goal of striking it big and getting rich, and getting the fuck out of this boring, small town.
He’s fiercely competitive, and spends hours of his time trying to get his name to the top of every machine in the local arcade. He used to do sports, but as he got a little older, he lost interest in them, and now fuels his competitive side through drinking contests and videogame playing.
Grant loves his friends and would do almost anything for them, always clearly expressing how he wouldn’t trade a single one of them for the world.D E F I N I N G M Y P A S T
History:
”Ain’t a good story, but it’s mine. His parents split up when he was really young. He was the product of adultery, with his dad cheating on his wife with his mom. At first, his dad tried to make a good impression on him, showing up when he could and spending time with him and his mom, but then there was an argument; Grant was too young to understand it, but the gist was that his father’s wife had realized the situation that he had with Grant and his mother, and he couldn’t see them anymore. His mother had sobbed and begged him not to, but the man was adamant in his decision. The only way to make sure that his wife stayed with him was to abandon Grant and his mother, so that was what he was going to do.
Grant’s mother was crushed, it sent her into a spiraling depression. She had truly, with all her heart, loved the man that had fathered Grant. She knew, or chose to believe that Grant’s father was perfect, and that he loved her back. That his real wife was a witch that had convinced him to abandon her and her son. At times, she would blame Grant for the love of her life running away, and in a drunken rage, she would hit him with whatever she could get her hands on, ranging from frying pans to flip flops. After Grant got bigger than her, though, she stopped playing that game. His mother rarely, if ever left the house, choosing instead to simply live off of the child support checks she luckily still received.
At around age thirteen, Grant decided that he didn’t belong in the tiny town he was growing up in, and that he had the potential, drive, and vision to lead him to greatness elsewhere. This was the age where he decided what mattered was his get rich quick schemes and escaping the boring town he’d grew up in. He was exposed to drugs very early by some friends that he was hanging with at the time, and found that he very much liked them at fourteen. He became an avid user by the age of fifteen, and by the time he was sixteen, he’d tried nearly everything under the sun, and was a frequent face at parties and raves all over the town and the surrounding areas. By seventeen, he was throwing his own parties and planning ‘The Big One.’
At seventeen, he moved out of his mother’s place, and makes a conscious effort not to see her, ever. He has no idea what his father’s name is, but also has no intentions of finding him. His apartment is a tiny, single bedroom deal, but he loves it. It’s home, after all, and home is where the heart is. He still attends high school, with an admittedly flakey attendance record, but when he’s there, he does his best.
He drinks almost every day and spends as many of his waking moments as physically possible stoned.
