[OOC] Argus: Olympian Intelligence

In the world of today, organized crime, international criminal organisations, and terrorist cells are rampant and growing. Threats to countries and the international community have increased dramatically, but national intelligence organisations have been undermined. Through corruption, general incompetence, or an unwillingness to work with their counterparts, Intelligence organisations of individual nations have struggled to keep their countries safe.

Enter Argus.

Argus was established by Greek multi-millionaire and security expert Calisto Stavros as an independent and completely secret intelligence organisation, comprised of members representing each of the member nations to the UN's new 'Argus Doctrine'. Each of these member nations were tasked with finding a single individual, best-suited to the role of an elite secret agent, and with no prior experience within their countries' intelligence services, to represent their nation in Argus' ranks.

You are one of these agents, and as a member of Argus, you are now one of the best of the best. This may not be a James Bond film, but you might just save the world either way.

Gadgets
This section will provide a bit of information for those in the RP on the kind of gadgets/equipment Argus has and uses.

The Argus Suit

Visuals

Double-Breasted for males and One-buttoned for females, the Argus Suit is made from a specialized, prototype Kevlar Fiber weave which makes it bulletproof and generally shock-resistant. The standard garb of an agent, both in infiltration ops and off the field, the Suit is specially tailored to the agent, and can easily conceal a handgun, and all other Argus gadgets.

Stavros-Corp Olympian

Visuals

Your classic spy-watch, the Olympian not only tells the time and date, but it comes fully equipped with a pair of loaded sleeping darts which fire outward from the wrist. The watch is also equipped with a built-in lockpick and garotte.

Argus Signet Ring

Visuals

Worn by every Argus agent on their dominant hand, the signet on the top of the ring contains a lethal poison. When a tiny switch on the back of the ring is pressed, the poison will leak from the signet until it disappears, this poison is tasteless, odorless, and kills incredibly quickly.

Stavros-Corp 'Thunderbolt'

Visuals

The standard-issue handgun carried and used by all Argus agents, the Thunderbolt takes a standard 9×18mm bullet in a 14-round magazine. It is equipped with a shotgun barrel which can fire one slug at a time, fired by a second trigger on the handgun itself. It can be customized with a suppressor, flashlight and laser sight.

Stavros-Corp 'Aegis'

Visuals

As well as serving as a rather effective means of keeping off the rain, the Aegis umbrella is equipped with numerous applications which are useful to an Argus agent. A blade can be pulled from the handle itself, essentially serving as a sword, and if the bulletproof padding of the umbrella is removed, a trigger in the handle can fire the top of the umbrella as a grappling hook.

Argus Pen

Visuals

The Argus Pen is a normal, un-altered piece of equipment which can be used to write... It also has a timer built under the cap, which - once triggered by a switch on the back of the pen, causes it to explode with the equivalent strength of a stick of dynamite.

Personality: Len is a rather neutrally aligned character as far as good and evil are concerned. Whilst he's firmly aligned to the forces of good; he's not exactly unwilling to get his hands dirty and follow the thin line between good and evil to ensure that the scales are balanced and chaos and anarchy doesn't reign. Having gone through his fair share of cases whilst serving with the LAPD, he carries forward with him a set of skills that had been developed over his time in service with law enforcement; which supposedly have been advanced and mastered with his introduction to Argus.

Outside of his duties, however, Len has been considered a worthy friend, a good partner to team up with and the very occasional drinker. Unless he’s on a stressful task, some other circumstance that could sour his mood or you being the person on the end of his interrogation, Len is a usually friendly and well-mannered individual who wishes to respect other people’s wishes and wants. Len is also known to be unusually charitable, paying for people’s meals and gifts for special occasions.

History: Being born in Los Angeles, United States; Len was raised by a retired Police Captain and accountant who had settled down and wanted to start a family. Len being the first and eldest of three children; his two siblings being a brother and a sister, Len had the entirety of the family’s attention placed on him until his siblings were born a few years later. He went through school as expected of him; seeming to have a heightened IQ; though not considerably to make him a super-genius or anything of the sort. Whilst he grew up, he found himself watching a bunch of Science Fiction movies, which he grew to love the adaptations of what the future would be like. With his siblings being born as twins six years after Len, he found himself helping his parents out looking after his new siblings between socializing and studying at school.

As time passed, when Len reached eighteen years of age he signed up for law enforcement in the Los Angeles Police Department; undertaking training and being graduated through the academy and starting out as a Officer within the hierarchy that was the LAPD. With his service record growing with time, Len found himself promoted to Detective for effective conduct in the line of duty and his clear talent for police work. He would remain in service as a detective for the LAPD for several years; earning a steady flow of income to support his family and supporting the community with his skills; giving him a good sense of righteousness and justice the longer his service spanned out for. Sure, it wasn’t everything he wished or asked for but the position sat well with him for both economical and financial reasons.

After what could be considered a prestigious service to the LAPD, whilst Len had wondered about his future career, the Government had other plans. With an Agent being introduced to Len and offering him a job higher than Los Angeles, with some serious consideration and debate between family and being able to protect and serve on a global scale, Len accepted the agent's offer. After some testing and evaluations, which Len would have passed with ease putting all of his skills from his service in the LAPD to use; he was introduced to his new employer; Argus.

Quick to laugh, and quick to knock someone on their ass. She had a gift to be able to tell someone to go to hell and make them look forward to the journey. History: Risa was born to the Couri family; her father a linguistics professor and her mother a former national champion in Tae Kwon Do. This created a unique home life; her father teaching her to use her words, her mother teaching her what do to when words where no longer effective. She took to both at a young age.

Risa loved seeing what she could get away with at a young age; if she couldn't sweet talk her way out of a situation she would fight her way out. If that didn't work, she would need a quick exit; girl had a knack for getting in over her head from time to time. Being able to free climb became key in keeping her pretty little head on her shoulders.

She excelled in school and was set to join the Finnish Air Force after she turned 18; due to her mastery of several languages by this time she was recruited by her government to work as a translator for their various Embassies. They would assign her to various diplomats as a liaison when traveling.

She enjoyed the work and travel, quickly working up the ranks to Language Coordinator for the U.N. in Geneva due to her leadership skills, mastery of the official U.N. languages and ability to calm hostilities between nations thanks to a quick wit and smooth talking game. This plus her past times brought her into the focus of Argus and she has been with them the last year.

Personality: Dori is loyal. No other word describes him better. When he sets his mind to something , he will work tirelessly to see it complete. In himself he expects perfection and it pushes his nerves when he is unable to complete a task. At the same time he expect that same strength in others. He doesn't mind someone being more able than him, so long as he is still able to complete his work.

Dori is tough and sometimes severe, it was all part of his upbringing. And because of this he is not very trusting. But when someone does earn his trust, it is unbreakable and he will follow anyone who has done so to the ends of the earth. In regards to drugs, drink and women he is incredibly disciplined, again from his upbringing. He does not touch the first two and the last interests him but he suppresses it.

History: Dorian Peters was born on the 1st of December. His mother and father were property developers in Jerusalem and so he has grown up in comfort. However comfort and care are two very different things. Dori rarely saw his parents, they were out working, socialising, in bed sleeping. Never paying him the slightest attention. Instead he was cared for by a 'nanny' of sorts. She sorted his meals and made sure he went off to school. School was private and so he avoided large classes, but the teachers were even more brutal. He was beaten as punishment for failing. Teachers verbally abused and shouted for poor uniform. This, shared with his distant childhood might be what developed Dori into the distant and unsmiling man he is.

Following his schooling Dori was determined to get away from his parents. And so he joined the police force. His pay checks weren't great, but he was able to afford a tiny apartment and pay his own bill. After following the usual paths he took a number of extra training programmes and was designated to an armed response unit. His usual work was keeping Palestinian nationals away from the borders and keeping the peace in more violent parts of Israel. Soon notice was taken of his record and he begun to be tipped for more exclusive branches, however following an incident in Jerusalem, Dori was forced out of the Israeli police force and his career prospects collapsed. His parents passed away a few years prior and he inherited all of their work, but despite his new found wealth he chose to remain in his own apartment and only live with the bare minimum, allowing a board to run the business and pile the money into another account to stockpile.
