The criminal jumped out of the tall grass and shrieked. The ghost pokemon had given him a worthy scare. His face had turned an immediate red from anger. It was still hard to see his face due to the darkness and most of his face was concealed by his yellow bandanna. "You think that's funny? I'll show you something scary!" He quickly wiped the sweat off his face and snapped at his Houdour.

"Houndour, eat this creep! Use bite!" The criminal barked and ordered his dog-like pokemon to jump toward the Gengar. This was an effective strategy given the type advantage.

Edward made certain to look as if he had given up. He held his hands up and whispered to Xanthia. "I've never been in this situation. I'm not all familiar with these pokemon. I'll go ahead and take down the dog." Edward slightly lowered his hand. He hoped to see an opportunity and release one of his team members.

Before he could react, he noticed the dog jump towards Xanthia's Gengar. "Never mind, I'll go after the pokemon behind us," Edward used the opportunity wisely and shot his hand down. He slipped his hand into his laptop pocket and chucked it in the air. "Go, Secare!" The trainer was unsure of the Mankey's type; could it be a monkey type?

He figured Secare could take quick work of him. He was agile and quick enough for this energetic ape. A red beam had passed out of the pokeball, but the shape had turned into something else. Edward's eyebrows elevated as he realized he grabbed the wrong pokeball. From the pokeball, Rho had appeared. Edward was uncertain of what his new pokemon could do.

"Rho, use Absorb!" Edward prepared his battle stance. He watched his oddish closely; the grass pokemon looked back at its new trainer. He took a few steps back from the pokemon it was facing and shivered in place. "Oh, no. It has a timid personality," Edward's hand shook. The hesitation had costed oddish an attack as the Mankey had pounced forward and karate chopped the grass pokemon.

Xanthia just turned her eyes to Terra, and then to the Geodude. "Terra! Vine whip! Anubis, get back over here! Don't do that!" Terra turned to the Geodude, shaking her mane as vines streamed out of her body, crashing furiously against the rock type pokemon. Her mother and pokemon school had taught her the basics of type matchups. And with her mom constantly drilling her on the pokemon typings when she was at home.. she'd managed to memorize most of them.. enough to make an educated guess about the pokemon she didn't know. The only pokemon she'd never seen here before was the dog thing. It looked like a dark or ghost type. Her brow furrowed as it charged directly at her Gengar, a surge of unease. "Anubis!" she called again.

But it was too late, and she watched in horror as the dark type pokemon leaped at her ghost. However, his fangs collided with a rock as Anubis performed a substitute, giving a clever cackle as he appeared by the pokemon mid-air letting loose a bright light from his body. A rather impressive Dazzling gleam burst from his body, aimed directly at the dog pokemon. Of course, being trained by a member of the elite four, Anubis had been given a few TM moves to help with type disadvantages. Her mother had thought ahead of course.

Xanthia shielded her eyes as the light exploded from Anubis, lighting up the clearing and temporarily causing Xanthia to be unable to see momentarily. The light reached Terra as well, causing the young pokemon to startle, letting out a bleat as she stopped using vine whip and instead headbutted the rock pokemon with her horns.

Xanthia was shaking her head, trying to get used to the darkness again as Anubis' attack faded.

The geodude staggered a bit in the air after the brutal combo of vine whips; he wasn't about to let his opponent get the best of him. This was its mindset before a flash had emanated from the fields of grass. It caught the rock pokemon off guard and it then suffered a fatal headbutt. The geodude tried picking itself up in the air, but its body was too heavy. Collapsing onto the floor, it retreated back into its pokeball.

"What?! How dare you!?" The criminal clenched his teeth and formed a fist on both hands. He was not thrilled one of his pokemon had fainted. Looking to his houndour, he could see it was still conscious, but the attack had done a number on him. The houndour barely survived the fairy-type attack. "You'll pay for that! Houndour, give it all you got! Foul Play!"

The houndour straightened its back and growled at the ghost pokemon. Leaping side to side, it charged forward and readied its strike. Its plan was to direct the strength of its opponent right back to its target. The higher the target's attack, the greater the damage.

Oddish was airborne and landed at Edward's feet. The trainer was uncertain of how to battle with this mankey. His pokemon was timid and this monkey-pokemon was determined to fight. The best strategy Edward could think of was to keep at arms away from the fighting-type. "Oddish, hit him with poison powder!"

It might have been from the attack, or that it was a ranged attack, but there was a confidence boost in the Oddish. A slight of hesitation was present; however, the oddish succeeded in sporing out purple rain. The mankey had unfortunately breathed in the spores and began coughing roughly. It began turning a sickening purple.
