@A Tattooed Girl For me, it's not that I'm too busy. >has all the free time in the world. For me, it's the fact that I sometimes become disinterested in reading books. I know it sounds weird since I'm a roleplayer and want to be a writer, but I go through moods where I just don't feel like reading books. Oppositely, there are times where I go through moods where I can read 200+ pages in one sitting.
Also, about Arrow real quick: they got renewed for a fifth season, which should be interesting since that's the last season we'll be seeing the flashbacks. So, either they'll continue the show w/o the flashbacks or the fifth season might be it's last. I guess it just depends on what route they go in the fifth season. xD
@Nallore Haha, it's honestly SO worth watching! I love the show. Felicity is my favorite character<3 #OlicityIsOTP
@Altered Tundra Haha, yeah I know what you mean! I get the same way, most times but the days I actually wanna read I cant! It sucks majorly!!
o: No way! ..hmm. Well, honestly I don't see it going much further. I think they should cap it off after this last season and leave it on a good note :P
Ooh, what's this? I've never ventured outside of the main categories much despite my many years of being here, so I might as well. So, hello, denizens of A Tattooed Girl's Place to Hangout. How are you all today?
@A Tattooed Girl Hyenas can look so happy Even if they're swimming in the gore inside a dead giraffe or something.
If I had two hyenas that loved me and wouldn't eat me, I'd name them....
Anubis and Osiris! ...since they're both Egyptian gods of death. More or less. Osiris judges, Anubis is just death. I think. I dunno, I think I'm gonna have to shore up my knowledge.
@Dynamo Frokane YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS! I already have plans for my little protagonist ^_^ I look forward to it. Hopefully we can lessen the extreme themes this time around :3
@MyCatGinger Oooh, hello, Ginger! Long time no see! :D
On a less undead note, hello everyone. It's a pleasure to return to your society. I must admit to a certain degree of eagerness at the mention of a season 3. This is especially since... well... my little businessman didn't even get a chance to buy a business yet. *grumble*
Anywho, if anyone insists on further catastrophic atmospheric drama... have a foreign country invade and occupy the city. That would be entertaining if romance somehow loses its edge. Personally, I'm hoping that such a thing does not need to happen. But, love in an occupied city could be a twist on existing tropes since there would be less hedonism and more enjoying the stuff that isn't rationed. Anyway, tangent. Bah.
Hyenas are some scary powerful beasties.
Ooh, unrelated tangent... maybe. Anyone played Valkyria Chronicles? There are a number of setting, technology, and social themes that could be interesting for inspiration or adaptation.
@Dynamo Frokane I've actually been playing with the idea of a far future setting, though I haven't finished the game yet. I'm also working on a three way class evolution breakdown. It's still incomplete but I'll include what I have so far to give additional inspiration to interested people. The basics can easily be adapted to various points on an AU timeline or to a different group set in the Canon Universe.
This is based on musing on the game's balance more than anything so it really would be more of a general guideline as opposed to anything like an actual game balance.
The three factions are; Military, Militia, Colonist
Military Scouts = Recon Troopers (RT) [ex. RT Williams], emphasis on poor visibility spotting methods [ex. thermal/low light/ragnite emissions] with a more powerful rifle with modestly reduced accuracy.
Shocktroopers = Stormtroopers (ST) [ex. ST Williams], greater emphasis on armor and suppressive fire with a large number of shots (30-40) available between reloads. Also, 2 spiked stick grenades.
Lancers = Arc Lancers (AL) [ex. you get the idea.], having a reduced number of shots (2) but far greater power and also modest obstacle piercing capability, these have abandoned any semblance of projectile technology and fire blasts of concentrated electricity (think of a bunch of lightning bolts braided together and bent into a thin oval. That's the general look I had in mind for the shot.)
Snipers = Sniper (S) [ex. some things don't change.], the military has embraced alternate munitions wholeheartedly with its snipers, going so far as to accept reduced range and power, their snipers are now trained to avoid headshots in favor of delivering status altering rounds more consistently with shots into the center of mass.
Engineers = Maintenance Trooper (MT) [ex. yep, all jokes get old], due to the ridiculous rate of engineer casualties over the generations, the military decided to add additional armor and remove the ragnaid. These more powerful ragnaid modules are now attached to the rear of most armored vehicles and can be accessed by any soldier, especially the MT hiding behind the tank in an effort to keep it running. They share the same rifle characteristics as RT.
Militia (Denied the title "soldier" by Imperial Decree some hundred years ago to preserve the inflated ego of the "Ever Victorious Imperial Legions", these forces are spread thinly and serve to protect the civilian population and more significant colonial settlements and infrastructure from local threats and, on occasion, popular unrest.)
Scouts = Scout, with an emphasis on range and accuracy, this class of militia is also equipped with transmitters and com-links along with the best in light fabric armor. While their rifles only have three shots per reload, their power, armor piercing, and accuracy are notably increased for dealing with large predators in remote areas.
Shocktroopers = Gunners, armed with long range, accurate, LMG type weapons, these militia fighters carry no other equipment but have the mobility to almost keep up with scouts.
Lancers =
Snipers = Sharpshooters, denied access to true sniper rifles, these fighters carry customized versions of scout rifles. they have reduced range but still can reach farther than standard scout rifles. They fire projectiles similar to a HEAT shell, but smaller, effective against light vehicle armor.
Engineers = Engineers, these infrastructure and support experts are now equipped with deployable repulsion beacons which generate hard cover from a ragnite radiation field. This field lasts only ten minutes but the device can be collected, charged, and deployed again. Militia Engineers still carry ragnaid and scout rifles.
Colonist (A combination of hopeful pioneers, minor criminals, social undesirables and undiplomatic prodigies, colonists come from almost everywhere and spend the rest of their lives taming the wildest and most dangerous territories for the Empire. Their children can never enter the Empire's "Civilized Lands".)
Scout = Hunters
Shocktrooper =
Lancer = Prospectors, using modified versions of Arc Lancer weaponry, these rough individuals blast deep holes into stone to check for the presence of ores more valuable to the colonists than the Empire.
As a realistic and logical person, I feel obliged (just as you were to post anime shtuph in the first place) to point out that two squads of Marines, a Stryker MGS (Mobile Gun System with a 105mm cannon), and two Stryker ICVs (Infantry Carrier Vehicle, armed with a M2 Brownings and 40mm grenade launcher) would be able to eliminate that entire group of a couple/several dozen people, what appears to be a large-caliber light tank, and what appears to be an AFV armed with an autocannon or large-caliber gun. I'd say 130mm on that tank, and a 40mm gun on that AFV, disregarding the item above it.
There's also the fact that none of those look to be in a prime fighting condition, experienced, and without armor, proper clothing, or tactical gear to speak of.
