Powers
No Strength in Numbers - Eris' defining feature is that her strength scales with that of her opponents on an exponential curve. This means that while she loses strength for small numbers of opponents (and especially in duels), she gets stronger when fighting a group of adversaries. As a result, Eris is in more danger fighting one opponent than ten or one hundred. If Eris were to fight a large enough group of enemies, her power level would stretch to infinity thanks to the exponential nature of her power scale.
GoldenEye - With a flash of gold enveloping her eyes, Eris is able to "see" things her eyes can't normally see. She can "see" up to a theoretically infinite distance depending how much energy she uses, and is able to detect any living thing within her cone of sight. Eris can also project her mind's eye and voice to a target in her sight, in a jarring mental arrest not unlike a long-distance Vulcan mind meld.
Apocalypse Now! - Eris wields Apocalypse Manipulation (Apocakinesis) - the power to create and manipulate apocalyptic events. This is a charging power, meaning that the longer Eris gathers energy for an apocalyptic event, the more devastating it will be. If Eris is given enough time (24 hours) to charge an event, it will be powerful enough to potentially end civilization. However, a typical short charge is only enough to pulverize a small, localized area. Events that Eris can create include meteor showers, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and nuclear winters. The specific abilities necessary to ignite each one of these events can be extracted and used for traditional, non-charging attacks. For example, a volcanic eruption requires Lava Manipulation. While successfully charging and igniting and apocalyptic event is a devastating attack, Eris must channel cosmic energy to obtain the energy reserves necessary to trigger such an event, which means as soon as she starts charging it she becomes an easily-identifiable beacon, summoning a huge and infinitely tall beam of searing raw energy from the stars that screams through the atmosphere until it reaches her. This beam gets wider and brighter the closer she is to completion, and is eventually visible from hundreds of miles away.
Weaknesses
One is the Loneliest Number - As explained above, Eris' No Strength in Numbers ability is both incredibly powerful against many opponents and limiting against few. In duels, particularly, Eris operates far below her maximum power level due to the low amount of energy she has available to extract. For this reason, Eris avoids 1-on-1 conflicts as much as possible, which is problematic as she works alone. If she was fighting an extraordinarily strong single adversary she would have more power to work with, but it would still be far below even nominal power levels. NSiN's exponential curve crosses 100% power at four opponents.
Exposed Elemental - As all of Eris' offensive abilities are elemental and she has no spell/magic-based powers, Eris is weak to most types of non-elemental spells.
Eris Can't Read Roman Numerals - Eris can't read Roman numerals. Or anything that's not Greek.
Personality
"Fear? What use do I have for fear? I have no one to be afraid of."Unlike many villains who use their chaotic minds and extreme tempers to their advantage, Eris is serene in her ruthlessness. Her default state is unnervingly calm, and her silence can be far more intimidating than words. She
knows that she is very likely to defeat anyone who comes her way, and that she is immortal. As a result, she is not in a hurry to win any wars or accomplish any goals, and is never in fear of an opponent. She has all the time in the universe, and she knows it.
Background
In Greek mythology, Eris is the goddess of chaos, strife, and discord, who is also sometimes identified as being the same being as Enyo, a Greek goddess of war and destruction. In reality, Eris
killed Enyo to gain the war goddess' abilities. From her earliest years in the Greek parthinon, Eris plotted to be more powerful than even Zeus and overthrow Mount Olympus. She began killing minor dieties in secret, assimilating their strength. It wasn't until she killed Enyo that Zeus and the rest of the high gods took notice. Eris sprang into action. She had already formulated a plan to swiftly end her opposition, and all it required was the cooperation of a certain diety of the sun...
She killed Apollo first. Doing so unlocked her exponential power curve, as she had defeated a god who, among other things, was in charge of science and mathematics. Now, she knew, Zeus would be enraged and bring all of the other gods with him to take her down. And so it happened that the eleven Olympians left ascended Mount Olympus with dozens of lower dieties to find Eris sitting on Zeus' throne. She was surrounded by more raw power assembled in one place than anywhere else in the world, and all she could do was let a little grin creep onto her lips. The second all the dieties lunged to attack in unison, their fate was sealed. With Eris' power now scaled to unfathomable levels, the battle was over in seconds and after the dust cleared Eris stood alone atop the ruins of the Olympian temple.
She realized that defeating every last Olympian was not enough.
She needed the world.
And she determined that she would start in Lavanya.
