"My sons hated massages as children, even Avera wasn't fond of them until she met Caex and Alan met Bela but Bela has made sure that her children are well looked after," Danae said.

"Yeah, my stepson is like that too" Aerta replied, referring to Kos. "Still, maybe our grandchildren will be a bit more sensible about it. I doubt Caex would have the physique that so impressed your daughter if I didn't take care of him as I did." she added, smiling. "At least, not nearly as well-toned. Speaking of which, there is something we can use. I have a device in my place that can project what a growing being will look like when fully-grown. Maybe we can test it on your daughter here. It's totally harmless. It will only take me a moment to go and get it."

Jammy listened to them speak, trying out the tea. She seemed interested in what was being said

"Hmm... I've heard of such devices. I've always found them intriguing but never really had the desire to try it since my children were all grown. Sure, we can test it on the little one," Danae said, folding her legs under her.

"I'll be right back." Aerta put the tea cup down and teleported home. A minute later, she was back with a silver cube with a crystal in it. "It can be adjusted to give a different projection based on different factors, like diet or exercise. Keep in mind that this isn't a perfect device, but it seems to work well, in my experience. I made it a few years ago and have tested it mostly on goats and sheep. The projections were more or less what it said they would be." She handed the cube to Danae. "Just put your daughter's hand on it and it will give you a projection of what she will look like when fully grown."

Aerta turned to Jammy. "We can test this on your grandchild when he or she hatches too."

Danae went and picked her daughter up, waiting for Aerta's return and then did as she asked, smiling at the projection of her daughter. "She's beautiful, but I already knew she'd be," Danae said, kissing the top of the hatchling's head.

"Want to try out some of those other options? All you need to do is to put your hand on the cube while the projection is going and think about a changed factor, like more exercise, or different food" Aerta replied. "Think of it like heading off problems before they have a chance to start."

"I'm not sure if it will work on eggs, though. I suppose we can wait until Larek and Nyx's egg hatched before we have this family meeting" Aerta said.

Danae tried a couple of different options and then handed the cube back. "This is really neat, thanks for letting me try it out."

"You are most welcome. I'd like to see it be used on our grandchildren when we have the bigger meeting. Heh, that one with the extra meat was funny. I'm glad you aren't feeding her THAT much food. Your daughter looks better slim, if I may say so" Aerta replied. "So, I may be having some human grandchildren by Avera, I understand. Mind telling me a bit about that, as its your magic that does that, not mine."

"Probably better to wait, since how will it know if the hatchling is a male or female?" Jammy said

"She does look better slim, but that what's came up if she followed in my footsteps as a mage and adventurer," Danae said. "What is it you want to know specifically?"

Aerta replied to Jammy first. "Yes, it is better to wait. There are ways of knowing ahead of the hatching, but those involve magic and I don't want to disturb Larek and your daughter."

She turned to Danae. "Well, for one thing, Auryn came out blue and very large for a hatchling. That seems to be the result of magic. The other issue is what precautions should my son and your daughter take when raising a human child?"

"I figured they'd have a large son. Yes, that is part of the magic for the males, but females are born a great deal smaller. As for my daughter when she decides to have a human child, she can't teleport, at all. It may be different when there's an egg but somewhere in the teleportation magics it can go very very wrong for pregnant humans, it can cause the mother to miscarry, send her into early labor or it can do worse. I'll probably be with her for the last month or so of the pregnancy. But it's like raising a Dracon, but human infants can get cold much easier and their skin can dry out faster. They cry more as well, but at least they don't have the sharp little teeth hatchlings do when you nurse them," Danae said.

"Hmm. Do you think that we should get footwear for those children, like Avera has? I'd prefer that they not, but I'm not the expert on humans around here" Aerta replied. "And I thought just as much about the teleportation thing. And heat, humans aren't as well adapted to it as dracons are."

"They won't need it until they start working with Caex or start riding horses," Danae said. "So in about five years we'll worry about shoes and boots."

Jammy listened. It wasn't likely that she was ever going to have human children or grandchildren, maybe great-grandchildren, depending. Still, it was interesting. She had worked with humans before, and would pribaly work with humans again.

"Alright, that's fine. Maybe they won't need them or want them at all. The parents should decide and we should honor their wishes" Aerta pointed out. "Jammy, feel free to contribute anything you want. You've already raised several excellent children to adulthood. Say, do you have any plans for more?"

Aerta let Jammy think about that as she turned back to Danae. "Do you think I could talk to Bela too? I mean, she's a mother as well, and I can teleport to her and bring her here if she isn't busy today. Assuming she wants to come. I'd need to know where to go to, of course."

"Bela is having a day to herself, which is why her kids are here," Danae said, getting herself some tea.
