  • Personality: Tanya is a sarcastic and short-tempered individual. She has nothing but scathing comments for people she dislikes, or people she sees as stupid. Tanya is quick to be irritated and quick to respond to her irritation, sometimes violently. At least when it's violently it's not bad enough to result in any serious injury. She has a sarcastic response to many, many things. Tanya also dislikes that she is rather small, at least to some extent, and has feelings of jealousy towards those who are not so small. In spite of her temper and sarcastic attitude, Tanya firmly believes in protecting those who need it and upholding the law. She seeks to punish all those who do evil to the fullest extent(at least if they are deserving of such treatment). She also has a deep dislike for undead, given that much of her duty is to eliminate dangerous undead. However, she will not harm them unless they give her reason to(or if they're mindless monsters). As a Reonite Paladin, she is deeply devoted to her chosen goddess and, and is also deeply anti-slavery.
  • Brief Backstory: Born to the Palayen family, nobility living in the richest quarter of Meridan, Tanya was encouraged from a very young age to become part of the Church of Reon's more active service. The idea of serving their Goddess enticed her to no end. As such, Tanya Tanya became a Paladin of the sun goddess, sworn to combat evil in her name. Aside from that, she was educated at the "St. Lilianna's Reonite School for Girls", a religious school for girls created by the Church of Reon. She also underwent combat training under other paladins serving Reon.
  • Equipment: Tanya wears a suit of heavy armor to protect herself. However, the armor is enchanted to feel exceptionally light, allowing her to move quite quickly. Similarly, her bastard sword, Repharion, is also subjected to enchantments that enhance her strength enough to wield it while holding the sword. Repharion is kept very sharp, and ignites with the Divine Solar Flame of Reon in response to the righteous fury of its wielder. This is chiefly intended for use against undead, but it's hard to deny the effectiveness against just about anything.
  • Abilities: Tanya is a skilled combatant, excelling in both two-handed and one-handed swordplay, though her favored style is two-handed. However, due to the enchantments on her armor and weapons which renders them far lighter than they should be, her physical strength is actually rather lacking, and instead she is more of a speedy fighter who nevertheless hits hard due to her training and choice of weaponry.

Appearance: Standing at 5'10", Vendrael's lithe body and light brown hair make him... Well, quite ordinary, all things considered. His hair, cut to about shoulder length, is left unkempt to cover his ears (which would probably stand out in this world of humans and other creatures). His eyes are an emerald green, a common color among his people, and a fact which he does not bother to hide nearly as much. More often than not, most people only see him wearing the robe that he set out with initially; he's not particularly enthusiastic about showing his hand by not doing so, all things considered. His staff also doubles as a walking stick and a rudimentary tool for self-defense, though he has absolutely zero experience in actually fighting with one. Regardless, he stands tall with dignity and pride, never mind what else comes his way.
Personality: While he may as well be a newborn in the eyes of Lethienvel, Vendrael is just as old as his apparent age would make him out to be; that doesn't mean, however, that he is as naive as the elves make him out to be. In the pursuit of knowledge, Vendrael has adopted a critical eye of the world around him; if he doesn't understand something that interests him, he'll dedicate his entire being to figuring out why it does what it does. Most who meet him, as a result, have dubbed him a 'lightning nut' or some variant thereof. As a result of his tendencies, though, Vendrael has adopted a strategic mind in order to make the most of his abilities in offense, defense, and support. Due to his "young" age and ignorance of conventional teachings in favor of his own pursuits, he also does not have the regular haughtiness and arrogance that his people have been stereotyped as having.
Brief Backstory: Vendrael had always been an 'odd' child by the standards of his peers; rather than calmly accepting the nature of magic as it was, the young elf spent much of his time trying to not accept, but understand the world that he lived in. This did not mean, however, that he abandoned the magic which had made his race so powerful; instead, Vendrael often experimented with magic, to see if the powers that he drew from nature itself could amplify itself further in his hands.
This curiosity bloomed one day during a thunderstorm, where the elven child watched a tree be hit by lightning during a stormy autumn afternoon. While the tree itself had been blackened and burnt, a sword in its trunk--a remnant of some story he could not remember for the life of him--was crackling with energy. Fascinated by the incident, Vendrael began to delve deeper into the world of electricity, often times experimenting with his own magic to see how well such a wild force could be tamed.
Many of the older elves in his town saw the interest as pure folly and laughed his efforts off, but Vendrael himself desired more than just what he could attempt at home. Hearing of the strangeness of the cultures past the Veil, the young elf resolved to journey out on his own to see if those strange short-lived men could aid him in his efforts to understand the world.
Equipment:
  • A simple brown robe, made of cloth spun from flaxseed fibers. The sleeves seem to be singed, but that's about all that sets it apart from other robes.
  • A simple white silken shirt and pants, kept in good shape during his journey... Somehow.
  • A wooden staff, carved from the branch of an old maple tree.
  • An array (~30) of long steel darts; these are sharp enough to penetrate flesh.
  • 5 steel stakes, each about the length of his hand.
  • A leather knapsack, large enough to carry his metal appliances and stakes, as well as some provisions and scrolls.
  • Two small leather pouches, one around each leg, within which he carries his darts.

Abilities:

  • Lightning Bolt- A simple bolt of electricity; one is enough to cause burns on an enemy. If fired at one of Vendrael's darts or anything else made of metal, the electricity will run through the object before dissipating. He can fire multiple bolts and compound the effect, if necessary.
  • Lightning Barrier- If allowed to set up his stakes, Vendrael can create a barrier of electricity that hops from stake to stake. The elctricity moves as such a quick pace that it blurs together, generating what looks like a series of glowing golden arches around whatever the barrier is encasing.
  • Lightning Flash- Vendrael can also use his electricity as both a light source and a disorienting stun grenade of sorts. If allowed to detonate, this ball of electricity generates a flash of light not unlike that of a lightning strike in a full-blown thunderstorm, but only for a quick moment before it dissipates. It can also be held in hand for a few minutes to work as a temporary light source.

  • Name: He merely goes by 'Segi'. He doesn't tend to share his surname with the people around him, but not due to some misguided attempt to make him more mysterious - he merely dislikes his full name.

  • Class: Inquisitor
  • Appearance: An imposing figure.
  • Personality: Segi is the image of composure and discipline. He remains in control of his emotions at almost all times, rare to show a hint of anger, fear, happiness, etcetera unless he means to, often putting up a serious and somber person. He at least feigns friendliness to the people around him, although it's hard to hold a conversation with him unless they do all the talking, as he shares little about his thoughts and less about his history. His position necessitates that he takes note of the small details so little escapes his notice. He's adept at reading people and adept at detecting a lie, and very good at looking intimidating. He's incredibly focused and can complete any task he puts his mind to with little distraction. He's very smart and knows much about many topics, a natural investigator and questioner. He remains at all times calm, cool, and collected. The moments where he drops his guard are rare, although if he does it means one has earned his respect and trust. Although one should be warned that his trust does not come easily, as his past and his training have taught him to always be weary of a knife in the back. Segi is naturally a pious individual and seeks to root out all evil before him.
  • Brief Backstory: Segi was born to a family of little consequence, which held a legacy as little more then impoverished farmers. It was only due to great fortune that a passing Mayonite Paladin became indebted to his father. To pay back the favor owed the Paladin took Segi to the city, where he began training him as a Paladin. However it didn't take long for the shrewd Paladin to recognize that the boys talents were better suited for another. Instead he saw his value as an investigator and knowledge-seeker. The Paladin redirected Segi onto another path, that of the Inquisitor. Segi was a natural and picked up his lessons quickly, becoming a full fledged Inquisitor of the Church of Mayon in no time. He serves the church as a seeker of evil and heresy, delving into the forgotten parts of Velt to root them out. In the interest of safety and efficiency he has decided to go along with a group of fellow adventurers, although he tends to keep his companions at arm's length.
  • Equipment: Segi's armor is light, preferring to not be weight down by heavy plate. Instead he wears simple leather tanned white, adorned with a long flowing white cloak which he wears over it. Besides his armor he wield a claymore, enchanted so he can wield it in one hand with ease. As for his other hand Segi isn't afraid to play dirty, holding a number of small daggers effective as an offhand or throwing weapon and bolas to surprise and trip up his opponent. He does not name his weapons, assigning little more significance to them than that of a tool.
  • Abilities: Segi is an adept swordsmen, although he doesn't quite match up to the veterans in his company. He fights well enough, contrary to his roots as a Mayonite Paladin he adopts a style much more similar to the Reons- fast, quick, aggressive. What he lacks in skill he makes up with strength and speed, focusing on overpowering his opponent so he isn't caught up in a lengthy skirmish. Although Segi holds up well in combat his skills lie in his ability to analyze, observe, and apply his vast knowledge to situations. As an Inquisitor he is a very persuasive individual and is very good at being intimidating, amplified by the fact that he hold the clout of the Church.

Appearance: Al's taller than average, with decent muscle tone, but his long body makes him look leaner. His hair is a messy, unkempt mop of muddy brown hair, and his facial features are surprisingly soft. Albeit, he's usually got a bruise or bandage marring them.
His dress style is pretty comfy; he mostly wears loose fitting traveler pants and untied boots, with a cotton shirt and dingy longcoat up top, with the sleeves rolled to his elbows for a can-do look. His right hand and lower arm is wrapped in bandages for better wrist support and also so he doesn't lose his grip. On his back he typically keeps one or more large greatswords, of varied make, kept in a sling. He made a necklace out of a a beast's fang, and wears it as a lucky charm.

Personality: Al is by all means a kind, well-meaning person, with an understanding of the importance of friendship. He just happens to have a wild streak, and that streak just happens to be rather good at hitting stuff really hard.
He's not so much caught up in a balance between right and wrong as he is between right and fun. This poor impulse control, combined with a poor danger sense, inevitably means he's often the first to dive into a dangerous area or do something stupid for fun. It's great in a dangerous line of work, though.

Brief Backstory: It's not precise to say Al's forgotten his past due to amnesia. It is, however, accurate to say he's forgotten where it is. However, when growing up, he was always considered a strong boy, even in a rural community where the pastime was wrestling wild animals. Al, however, couldn't be content living a life of mostly farming and whiling away the hours on the porch. He was the sort of child who liked to wander. One day, the year he became a man, he wandered a bit too far, and ever since then has gotten increasingly lost. Determined not to let that get him down, the then fifteen year old began a new life, the life of an adventurer, sellsword, and treasure hunter.

Equipment: Al's weapon of choice is the greatsword, and he's currently carrying six of them. If one breaks or gets tossed, he has a handy backup. These particular ones are made of steel, but he's not picky when it comes to replacements.

Abilities: Al is strong - much stronger than his frame would even suggest; he can crumple metal with his fists, throw heavy objects, and lift big things. He's durable to boot- It's pretty common for enemies to take a sledgehammer to his face, because anything less probably won't phase him.
Naturally, his self-taught fighting style takes advantage of this, and focuses on Al throwing his momentum around to deliver maximum impact haymakers. Drop kicks are common, as are wild punches, suplexes, and throwing whatever's handy, up to and including the enemy. Additionally, Al carries around several greatswords, since he finds their length and mass are good for slinging around. Also he thinks they're cool.

Perhaps the biggest downside is that his muscle mass isn't proportional to his strength. A fighter with the same strength levels but more muscle mass, for example, has an easier time throwing Al than the other way around, and naturally has an easier time putting more force behind blows.

  • Race: Half-Giant--question not the mechanics of that. The other half is high elf, so magic may have been involved.

  • Personality: Brave, honourable, good with animals... and extremely susceptible to insults. You'd think that a half-giant warrior would be more thick-skinned or at least a bit less kind, but instead of starting tavern brawls over some comment on her size (big or small), she tends to go mope in a corner.
    She really wants a pet.
  • Brief Backstory: Olivie grew up with both of her parents on a farm in Velt, which is definitely one of the strangest households you could imagine to exist, and both were retired mercenaries who taught her the basics but couldn't really do much more. Having grown up on stories of knights, fighting, and dragons, she decided exactly what she wanted to be: a brave hero serving the kingdom, or the church, or maybe even a princess.
    She realised, however, that knights are expected to supply their own equipment... so she's adventuring to raise funds and get enough of a reputation that she can actually achieve her goal, plus to find someone who can teach her all the other little skills.
  • Equipment: Olivie's equipment is rather simple, since she can't exactly get the full suit of armour she wants: protection for her legs and hands, since they're the easiest thing for people to reach, and a sword her mother used to use, which she should really use two-handed given that it's as long as she is tall...
  • Abilities: Even given what she is, Olivie is scarily strong, swinging around her sword with one hand. Unfortunately, this makes her actual... skills lackluster, since there's few people of the appropriate size to beat proper form into her head. Dangerously exposed attacks and occasionally outright jumping, with the saving grace being that very few people want to risk getting that close.
    Especially when someone just over ten feet tall has done a backflip to get away from them.

Personality: Peri can be... impatient, to put it lightly. She has a tendency to rush into situations without bothering to think them through, and for looking for easy and quick solutions to problems. This over-enthusiasm is probably what led to her reading ahead a bit too often, which explains why her magic repertoire basically consists of "small-ish fireball" and "tactical nuclear strike".

Brief Backstory: A fairly unremarkable Meridan student, Peri travels the realm in the hopes of learning how to use magic beyond "set stuff on fire" and "blow stuff up". So far, she has been incredibly unsuccessful. Although she's gotten very good at all things combustion and conflagration.

  • Kitbag containing spell components and adventuring gear


Abilities:
  • Fireball: Basic Magic Missile spell
  • Megaton Bomb: Hilariously overpowered destruction spell in the vein of the Dragon Slave and other such giant explosion generators. Likely to result in strain-induced unconsciousness or worse if used. Also has a rather long incantation (somewhere on the order of six minutes) and liable to be as dangerous to the caster as the target except at long range.

  • Personality: As a Hundi, Benita is honest to a fault... With emphasis on "to a fault". Her honesty is rather brutal, and she never holds anything back when discussing the faults of others. If she thinks you've done something stupid, she'll let you know, and all in a cheerful, friendly tone. She does care about others, but as a healer she's well aware of some of the dumb things adventurers do and... Let's just say her bedside manner isn't exactly the best. Benita is rather reluctant to talk about her past, however, and will do her best to dodge the subject whenever it comes up.
  • Brief Backstory: A Hundi of common birth, Benita was always rather small and sickly as a child, making it clear she wasn't cut out to be a Hundi warrior. Dying of sickness at such a young age would have been considered a most ignoble death, but as her family were poor they couldn't afford to have a proper medic see to her... So instead, against all better judgement, they took her to a witch who lived near her village. The witch agreed to heal the young Benita, but on the sole condition that the young Hundi become her apprentice. Reluctantly, her parents agreed, and whilst the witch wasn't exactly an evil old crone and she lived close enough to the village that Benita could easily visit her parents when she wanted to... Well, the stigma of a witch still exists. Her coming of age quest had to be postponed due to her earlier illness, but now that she's headed out on it she's been advised by her master and her parents to hide the origins of her magic from others, lest they turn on her.
  • Equipment: Aside from her clothes, Benita has a wand she uses as a catalyst for her spells, as well as a few pouches stuffed with medicinal herbs. She's not exactly a fighter, but she carries a dagger with her just in case she needs to defend herself.
  • Abilities:
    • Unhurting: Heals injuries with a soothing blue light. Minor injuries are healed instantly, whilst other wounds take longer to heal depending on their severity. Of course, it doesn't work on those who are already dead.
    • Antitoxination: A curative spell that purges poisons and toxins from the body.
    • Redeadify: A flash of pale yellow light that undoes the magic holding together the undead, destroying the weaker varieties and causing immense damage to more powerful ones, although it notably does a lot less to the most powerful varieties. Naturally, this does not work on anything other than the undead.
    • Combat Training: As a Hundi, Benita has been trained in basic combat skills. However, since she's primarily a medic she's only really capable of holding her own against weaker enemies.
