True to his word, Al caught the Hundi monk in his arms, a neat bridal carry. The girl's light weight didn't even phase him or cause his legs to buck. He gave a brief smile, then set her on the floor, preparing for the next member to drop down.

Seeing that the man with far too many swords was catching people, Olivie turned around and focused on the rest of the stairs. The headless skeleton was concerning; without seeing the head it was hard to tell what to actually expect. Whilst some sort of head-targeted spike would probably hit her hand instead, doing less serious damage, if it was a decapitating axe then she'd get a far more serious injury.

Whilst being so large obviously had its downsides--her lack of armour attested to that, and she was a major target when a fight broke out--it meant that if they needed someone to test a trap, she was probably the best choice due to the sheer unlikelihood that any immediately fatal blows would get her.

Plus her sword was big enough to function as the other adventuring staple: a ten foot pole, which she carefully used to test the nearby stairs for any moving parts... and hopefully gently enough to not set things off.

Tanya hesitated a great deal above the hole. Seriously? Someone catching her? That was just... just embarrassing. And stupid. But... unfortunately, it seemed to be her only option. Making sure to position herself appropriately, and averting her eyes, Tanya hopped into the hole.

When she was caught, it would be easy to tell the only weight was a small girl and the bastard sword. None of her armor appeared to weigh, well, anything. In any case, once she was put down, the short girl absolutely refused to even look at the man who had assisted her landing and instead determinedly headed down the stairs, towards the half-giant who was inspecting the lower stairs by prodding at them with her sword. None of them seemed to do, well, anything. Some were loose, but that was because of age rather then any hidden trap. It seemed that, in order for the mechanism further up to function, the rest of the stairs lacked any sort of function. The walls, however...

It could be an avenue of investigation, at least. If they could not trap the stairs more, was there perhaps something placed to kill anyone who idly placed a hand on the wall for balance while moving down the steps?

"... Judging by how you haven't disturbed anything, I would guess the rest of the stairs aren't trapped," Tanya commented, looking down to the hall below. What had killed the now-skeletal figure lying on the stairs? The skull wasn't even in visual range, as far as she could tell... the purple-haired paladin headed down the stairs, carefully, avoiding any crags.

As she stepped down onto the floor below, she heard an echoing clunk. For a moment, Tanya was worried she had set off a trap(wouldn't that look stupid?) but then she realized it was the floor beneath her. There was a hollowed space?

It didn't take a genius to put two and two together. The trap on the stairs must have made them smooth out, and slid the victims into a pit below.

Of course, her attention was swiftly claimed by a chattering from the darkness. Sighing, she placed one hand on Repharion's hilt and pulled out the blade with the sound of metal on leather.

From the darkness, she could see the faintly glowing eyes of several sets of what were, presumably, Great Rats. Currently they weren't attacking... currently.

After being caught and let down, Haruka casually made her way down the stairs until she came upon a dead body. Or the bones of such, at least. There was no skull, but everything else seemed to be there, along with some leather armor and a bag of tools. Haruka briefly clutched her pendant, and said a short prayer in her native language as the small paladin passed her by.

Haruka silently gathered up the available bones, using a length of rope to tie them up in the suit of leather armor.

"We will send you off properly soon," said Haruka, placing the bundle in the pack where she kept her wide variety of medicines. She then took to examining the tool pouch. Perhaps this adventurer would assist them from the afterlife.

"What's this?" Al said, ceasing his duties as catcher. "A menagerie of mice? And here I was thinking I'd be using these swords to test for wall spikes all day."

The warrior drew a hefty claymore, and pointed it at the mice.
"I'm gonna be honest, it's been a while since I've had meat in my belly. I was hoping for mutton, but you'll do."

Al raised the greatsword over his head, and then, dropped it into an underhand position. He brought his arm back and strained his muscles before tossing the chunk of iron like a javelin. The eight or nine pounds of metal rocketed towards the rodents like a large, shaftless arrowhead.

Vendrael looked on as the other members of the group hopped down into the hole, one by one. There weren't any sounds of pain, at the very least... And given how things sounded, there wasn't much threat in following after all.

With that, the high elf jumped down, thanking the scruffy man after he had been let down before turning towards the paladin girl. Checking for traps, huh? Well, she was probably better suited to the task than he was.

The unnerving sounds of chattering beasts, however, pulled hit attention towards there source.

Rats. It had to be rats.

The elf took a deep breath before rapidly chanting an incantation, a ball of lightning forming within the gap of his tented hands. Noting how the man who had caught him earlier was now launching his metal blade at the creatures, Vendrael quickly shot the weapon with lightning, causing electricity to arc around. Just to be safe, the elf charged and fired a second shot, hoping to exacerbate the effects of his magic on the enemies ahead.
