This story is about a world called Libra, which has been torn asunder by war with extraterrestrial creatures called Mordrem. Twenty years ago, an ambitious research facility experimented with teleportation technology in order to extend its reaches beyond the planet, but accidentally opened a gateway to another dimension through which the alien threat invaded. This incident is known as the Calamity.
Libra is unique in that all life is of an energy called Gaia, and each life has a spirit. Through their existence, the spirits gather experiences and memories with which they return to Gaia upon destruction, adding to the enrichment and cycle of life. Alas, the Mordrem thrive on the consumption of all organic matter of Gaia and spirits. This has caused the world to slowly wither away, and its remaining spirits to seek sanctuary in superior entities.
The war with the Mordrem is spearheaded by individuals known as Guardians. These are men and women who possess high spirit density in their bodies, allowing them to grow incredibly strong and harness the natural power of the spirits within. This power is widely known as magic. Guardians are crucial to the war effort, but they need to be trained just as any other soldier. In this roleplay, your primary character will be a Guardian who has recently completed his or her training at Oakridge Academy.
The gateway caused by the Calamity remains open, maintained by something on the other side. As long as it persists, Libra can never be liberated. It has taken the armyβone of the few remaining institutions of the former governmentβmany years to prepare for an operation that will attempt to close the gate. One way or another, your primary character will be selected for the horrific task of exterminating whatever slumbers on the other side.
The story begins at the dawn of these events, the final preparations.

This story will be told through episodes and seasons, like a TV show. Because of that, you are encouraged to roleplay several different characters along your primary one. It also means that the story will be dynamic and less linear. You are also free to come and go as you please, create new characters at your leisure, and add to the lore if you wish.
There will be a codex with plenty of information about the world, which we will expand upon together. The character sheet will be lightweight: it will include a realistic picture of your character, basic measurements such as height and age, an 'ideology' section that replaces 'personality', a background section, and a section for your primary character's spirits. As the story has a heavy focus on action scenes, such endeavors will be slightly moderated, so that things are fair and square.
The influences for this roleplay include games such as Final Fantasy, Half-Life, Dead Island, The Division, and films such as Edge of Tomorrow, Alien, and Interstellar. My ambition is to create a fluid roleplay that anyone can join, at any time, and that can possibly last beyond me. Any player that has shown dedication can request to be a co-GM and subsequently get all of my private notes.

β‘ Standard forum rules and such apply. Be courteous to each other, compromise instead of complain, and communicate with me no matter how trivial the matter.
β‘ A thousand words the is magic length for posts. I don't mind lengths below that (within reason), but anything beyond must be accompanied by a summary. The language should be fairly concise and easy to understand. I realize that writing is an art to some people, but there are certainly better ways to practice it than here.
β‘ You can come and go as you please in this roleplay. There is no need to apologize for absences or otherwise. However, if you are active in the roleplay, please be consistent with your posting so that others do not have to wait for you.
