Name: Alexander Douglason
Age: 25
Race: Human
Class: Mage
Origin: Tormin
Appearance:
Weapon: Staff
Magic: Fire, Water, Blizzard, Lightning
Personality: Alexander would describe himself as a realist. Others might describe him heartless, cynical, and not worthy of trust. He would simply state they are ignorant to the world, though he would secretly agree with them. Alexander has focused his whole life on achieving one thing, power. His every breath is dedicated to gathering more power for himself. He gave up on the idea of political power, at a young age and instead focused on knowledge and magic, developing a deep and true love for the both. He often keeps to himself, not interjecting unless asked a direct question. When one does this though he wastes no time telling people what they want to hear instead giving them his true opinion on matters which are heavily based in the books and tomes he reads. This causes most people to let him keep his own company. Cunning and cruel when it suits him, Alexander prefers to sit back and watch events unfold until there is no other option to react in which case he tries to achieve the end result of said event as quickly as possible.
Loyalty: Imperium
Rank: Lead Mage Apprentice to General Faet Asharna
History: Alexander was born a frail and sickly infant into a family of magi in Tormin. Both his parents were white mages as well as his three sisters when they grew into their own. His family's magic carried him through his sickly childhood until his body became well enough to function on its own. His family was charged taking care of one of the many great forests and they had done so for generations. Magic ran strong in the bloodline and Deston was expected to become the head of his household when his father passed, though with all the regenerative magics surrounding the family this wasn't expected to happen for some time. Hi mother was doting, his father caring and tried to pass on his wisdom. His elder sister was nurturing and his two younger sisters looked up to him as though he were a hero. Alex found it all quiet smothering. The chirping of the birds, the calls of the crickets, the soft whisper of the wind all constantly tugged at his attention whenever he escaped his family by some miracle to study what books of magic he could get his hands on. He had heard stories of the great cities in the Imperium. Cities that were filled with buildings that stored vast wells of knowledge dedicated to learning, where no distractions would be. Where the use of destruction magic wasn't frowned upon (Alexander's secret guilty pleasure). As he grew into his teenage years his desire of living somewhere far from his ceaselessly doting family. And one day his chance came with the help of an Imperium Merchant.
The merchants caravan was traveling through a well cared for trail in the forest and had stopped by his parents abode offering to trade in supplies. As they conversed the merchant mentioned that the Imperium was in short supply of all things magic. And Alexander decided to take a chance. He was nearly a man and if he had to spend the rest of his life taking care of this forest he would surely burn the whole place down in a fit of madness. After the merchant departed Alex waited an hour before giving chase, his figured his family would simply think he had gone off to study like he often did. He was able to bargain his mediocre skills at dark magic as a body guard in return for being able to accompany the man back to the Imperium.
Once they arrived in one of the great cities the two quickly went their separate ways, the merchant finding Alexander a poor traveling companion. The city was far different from the forest that Alex was used to. There were no easy pickings for food when he was hungry finding that he at first had to settle for stealing from street vendors for a meal once a day. He eventually was able to receive a job as a cashier in small shop. The job nearly drove him mad but it allowed him to afford his own place to stay. His time in the city wasn't anything like he had thought it would be and he began to miss the comfort of the forest. But his desire to learn and ply his trade in black magic wasn't so easily extinguished. One day on his way to work he stumbled across a recruiter for the Imperium military. It not only paid far better than his current job, but once the recruiter discovered Alexander's talent for magic the man assured Alexander that he would not only be allowed to use his craft they would actually help him study and train in it. The young lad immediately agreed to join.
