Serafina 'Ariel' Gray
&
Elizabeth 'Lizzy' Jones

A darling collab between @HaleyTheRandom and @SouffleGirl123

Currently in the kitchen of her house, Ariel would be with one of her best friends, Liz, while, of course, making cookies. With the last batch already out of the oven, she would open the drawer and grab two spoons. "Liz get your ass over here and help me eat this cookie dough," she said jokingly. Elizabeth rolled her eyes in the same manner as she seated herself upon the table the pair had been making cookies on.
"Unbelievable, I can't even leave you alone for two minutes to go to the bathroom, are you my friend or my daughter I don't remember having," she jokes, "Now gimme a spoon would you? I can't help you eat this cookie dough otherwise!"

With a joking glare, Ariel handed the girl a spoon. Grabbing her phone out of the back pocket of her shorts, she would the go through her contacts and pick out the groups names, Lizzy peering over her shoulder.

To: Jar Jar, The Blonde, Mister Music, Trouble, Asshat, Cheese-Steak
From: Kitten

Guys, its time. get over here. me n Lizzy have cookies.
~*~Kitten~*~

"'It's time'" Lizzy quoted in mock mysteriousness "You sound like we're going to go kill someone or something and as the self-proclaimed responsible one, even if the youngest, I advise against that."

"Oh please, they know what I mean."

After doing this, Ariel would get a scoop of the cookie dough and pop it into her mouth. When she was done chewing, she would speak to Lizzy again.

"After this, we gotta get the map and everything."

"Everything? You weren't ready for today were you? You would've written some sorta list or something, right?" Lizzy asks, fixing her hazel eyes on Ariel's face.

Looking at Liz in order to return her look, Ariel would roll her eyes lightly. "I meant things like leaving a note for my dad and loading our luggage in the car and getting a playlist together, silly. Besides, my list is in my brain."

"Is your brain that reliable though?" Lizzy points out, pointing at Ariel with her spoon full of cookie dough before eating the cookie dough off of it. "Doesn't... doesn't your father know you're about to go across the country to who-knows-where?"

"Probably not," she replied, getting some more of the dough for herself. When Lizzy brought up her father, the girls face simply became stern, her lips pursed. "What he doesn't know won't kill him. Besides, i-it's better if he didn't know."

"Ariel..." Lizzy says gently, pursing her lips and lowering her spoon to the table, "Not telling him isn't a very good idea. You're gonna freak him out Ariel. It's not going to do either of you any good if you just take off,"

"Apparently I used to freak him out a lot," she mumbled. "Look, I brought it up, he didn't take me seriously, and now here we are. I know your trying to be responsible or whatever, but honestly, what more can any of you guys expect?

"There's a difference between a few hour freak out and what you're about to do. We're gonna be going for weeks, maybe a couple of months at that," Lizzy points out, a small sigh expelling from her pale lips.

Ariel shrugged it off. "Okay, good for us. While were gone he'll have time to think it over and I'll probably end up with my phone taken for a month or something. Who knows? She paused for a moment. "The point is, we have to finish the cookie dough," she said with a hint of a laugh in her voice. Of course she would try and change the subject now. Lizzy sighed making it very clear to Ariel through her facial expressions that she did not approve of what her friend was up to but left the topic alone, not doubting the fact it would probably come up later.

Theodore James Lincoln

A long winded solo post between me, myself and I.

"This is a bad idea." complained Tommy as he shoved his glasses further up his nose.
Theo tossed another bag into the back seat of his car and replied "It's a great idea."
Tommy sighed before saying "He's not going to like it."
"He's fine with it." replied Theo, sounding exasperated as he slammed the car's door and came around the other side towards his older brother. "We already talked about it and it's happening."
"Yeah, see he says he's ok with it but did he say it in that passive aggressive way where he says something's ok but secretly he's judging you for it?"
Theo thought about that for a moment before replying "It's....whatever!" He threw his hands up and and quickly back down in annoyance, knowing full well that Tommy was right. Their dad probably wasn't ok with Theo going on this trip. A thought in his head that was echoed by Tommy.
"If I took time off from my studies to go travelling around the country with my friends, dad would disown me."
"Well I guess it pays to be the favorite." Theo joked, playfully punching his brother on the arm.
"Oh ha ha." groaned Tommy.
"Look," Theo began "I'm going whether dad's ok with it or not. I need some time to..." He trailed off, rubbing the back of his head and looking to the ground as he thought of how to explain.
"To what?" asked Tommy, not giving him any time to think.
Theo kicked at the ground with the toe of his shoe before answering "I've just got a lot of things to think about, ok? Got a lot of things going on."
Tommy snorted derisively and smiled. "What do you have to think about? What to do with this nappy hair?" He stuck his fingers into his little brothers hair and tugged gently. Not enough to actually hurt but more than enough to annoy. Theo swatted Tommy's hand away and made a 'Tsk' sound in complaint.
"Leave your brother alone, Thomas." came a third voice. Both Theo and Tommy turned to see their mother emerge from the house, carrying two plastic wrapped bundles of something. "If Theo needs time then he can have it. It's his life after all."
"Yeah." agreed Theo, pinching Tommy's arm for good measure.
Tommy recoiled his arm in pain and said "Ow! Stop that!"
"Both of you stop it!" sighed mom. "Honestly, I thought when the two of you got old enough, you'd stop bickering."
Both Tommy and Theo hung their heads and said "Sorry mama." but as Theo dropped his head, his eyes landed on what his mom carried. "Is that for me?" he asked with a smile.
"Yes. Sliced banana bread. Your favorite."
Theo's smile only grew as she handed them to him. She was always trying to feed him, which he was totally ok with.
"Psshhht." said Tommy from the corner of his mouth as he crossed his arms. "Mama's boy." He stood for a moment before asking his mom "...You got one of those for me?"
"In the kitchen." his mother confirmed. Tommy smiled just as much as Theo. "Don't forget to share some with your friends." she said as she turned her attention back to Theo.
Theo grasped the banana bread close to his chest and looked positively offended by that idea. "Those animals? Nuh-uh!"
Mom chuckled gently, knowing he was joking, before reaching out and locking him in a tight hug. Theo did his best to reciprocate while holding onto the banana bread. "Be careful, ok?" said mom. "And I mean actual careful, not your own unique brand of sort of careful." She released him from the hug and gave him a look that meant she was deadly serious.
"Yes mom." he said quietly. He looked back at the house for a moment and noticed his dad standing in the doorway. The old man didn't bother to come out but gave him a small wave and at least tried to smile. Theo half-heartedly smiled back at him.
His mom looked between both of them, clearly sensing the tension. "Now go on and have fun." she said, spinning him around towards the car. "And call me...Every day."
"I will." he said, rolling his eyes as he walked away from her.
"I saw that." she called after him.
Theo half spun around and complained "How!?" His mother only giggled as she waved. Theo gave them all one last wave before getting into the car, dropping the banana bread onto the passenger seat and driving off.

It didn't take very long to drive to Ariel's place. Not the way Theo drove anyway. He pulled up outside with a sudden stop that caused one of the neighbors watering his lawn to shoot him a look. Seeing this, Theo jumped out of the car and did his best to look like a ghetto thug just to mess with him but there was only so much he could do while carrying banana bread. Theo was a lot of things but thug was not one of them. He sauntered into Ariel's house, not bothering to knock, and immediately adopted a much more casual walk. He made his way into the kitchen, led entirely by the smell of cookies, where he found Ariel and Liz eating cookie dough. This caused Theo to scrunch his nose up in disgust. It was almost like blasphemy around here but Theo didn't like cookie dough. He much preferred the end result and there was much of that around. He barely acknowledged the girls and only gave them a head jutt by way of greeting before he handed Liz the banana bread and headed for the cookies. He shoved a full one in his mouth before turning his head and mumbling something completely unintelligible through the delicious goodness.

Alex Hill

brrzt brrzt brrzt From down the hall, "Alex. Turn off your alarm!"

"Yeah, it's to loud." Alex's little sister and brother walked into his room annoyed that he is somehow sleeping through one of the loudest alarms that one could have. Sadie shuts it off then hands Micky a squirt gun, "Payback time." The two started spraying Alex with water and the once sleeping Alex became a really alert and annoyed Alex. "Ahh. What the heck. Come here." Alex said as he jumped out of bed and bolted for the little buggers that were his siblings.

The chase had begun and they were running through the house until Alex caught Micky. He took him to the ground and they rolled around laughing. Sadie walked over to them to spray Alex again, but he quickly grabbed Micky's squirt gun and shot it at Sadie, "Booyah. Gotcha both." As Alex stood back up their mother walked out of the kitchen and said, "Alright. Stop making a mess in my house. Sadie, Micky, go get towels to soak up the water. Alex, did you forget something?"

"Uhh, I don't think so. Fed the dog last night, took out the trash, if you're talkin' about breakfast I can just eat brunch."

"You will eat breakfast, but that isn't what I am talking about." What? Then what could it be? Alex had done all his chores and even helped Micky and Sadie with theirs. What did he forget? Then he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. It was a text from Ari. Wonder what it is,

Guys, its time. get over here. me n Lizzy have cookies.
~*~Kitten~*~

"Oh, crap. The road trip." Alex quickly ran back to his room and got ready. He did last minute packing by just shoving random clothes into his bag. He had already put essential things in his truck last night and bolted down the stairs once he had everything, "Bye. I'll call at stopping points. Later." From in the house could be heard the usual things one would hear from family before going on a trip. Alex chunked his stuff into the back of his truck and hopped in.

When he arrived he saw that Theo was already there. He parked the truck off to the side and walked over to the door. He entered the house and followed the beautiful smell of fresh cookies. In as serious and monotone a voice he could make he said, "Alright, children. I need to see your permission slips now." Then he reached for a cookie and stuffed it in his mouth keeping his usual straight face the whole time.

Philly “Cheese Steak” Iverson frowned at his phone.

Why did she- as in Ariel [and occasionally Lizzy]- insist on referring to him as Cheese Steak? Of all things? Why not Phil, or Philly, or How, or the rarely-used Ivy?

He shook the thought away, and pocketed his phone. It was a message that didn’t warrant a response, in his opinion- it was a summons, not a conversation. He turned to his bed, where he had his black duffel bag sitting, open and waiting. Next to it was the already-packed backpack of his, one that most anyone would recognize from school- he wore it everywhere, really.

He unzipped his tan-colored backpack anyways, rifling through it to ensure that his laptop, tablet, charging cords for all, and his wall and car plug was inside. Then he made sure his four books, sketchbook, and his small collection of random knickknacks were still present. Zipping the main pocket back up, he checked the front pocket, ensuring that the store-bought plastic ‘medkit’ with various bandages and medicines was still inside, and then his home-made plastic-baggy ‘medkit’ was present, which included some amount of alcohol, bandages, water purification tablets, and more. Next to that was a box of matches, a military-grade utility knife (nestled safely in its equally-black holster), and a lighter.

He had once gone to a geographic ‘show’ of sorts, with dozens of people with a dozen different ‘exhibits’ of rocks and Native Indian tools and such. A ex-Marine survivalist there had given him, and a dozen others, some tips and tricks- such as to always carry a way to create fire. Call him paranoid, he didn’t care.

Backpack check finished, he started throwing in clothes- pants, underpants, shirts, socks, even a pair of swimming trunks and swimshoes, just in case. He shoved in a sweatshirt on top of that, a hoodie, and finally, a thicker, waterproof leather jacket.

Having ‘packed,’ i.e. shoved everything messily into his bag, he zipped that up, and went to the closest bathroom.

Whipping out a plastic baggy he had in his pocket for this purpose, he started dumping his toiletries in it- deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, a brush, some shampoo and body wash (both the deo and the body wash being OLD SPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE because their commercials are funny).

That finished, he retreated back to his room and tossed the toiletries, in their sealed bag, in his backpack.

That finished, he slung his grey [possibly synthetic] wool-lined jacket on- which hung about halfway down his upper legs- and checked his pockets for all his goodies- pencils, headphones, random pieces of paper, wallet, and too much change. Satisfied that everything was in order, he took a moment to reflect on why he needed all this.

Fuck.

There were going to be other people.

He didn’t exactly hate any of them… or really dislike any of them at all, not really… but some of the ones that were invited aggravated the shit out of him. He didn’t really like many people, and he only opened up to just one. At least Lizzy was going- he would’ve flat-out refused if she wasn’t involved.

He sighed, and took the next five minutes to summon no small amount of courage and strength, building up his walls again. He… sort-of let them down when he was home, and school was obviously an entirely different matter. This? He didn’t know how to cope with this. Didn’t know what to expect or what to do, exactly, so he’d just have to do it according to the ancient human tradition of ‘winging it.’

Throwing the backpack over his shoulder, he grabbed ahold of his duffel. He shut off the lamp that currently illuminated his room and shut the door behind him as he left.

Downstairs, his mom appeared out from the kitchen and wordlessly embraced him. When she withdrew, she raised an eyebrow- and he nodded back. She hesitated, then nodded in return and hugged him again.

“Stay safe. Call every now and then, if only just to keep me updated. And try to have fun.”

This time, she smiled when she withdrew, and he tried to smile back. As usual, it elicited a laugh from her- she always found his attempts to smile when he wasn’t feeling it comical. He found it mildly annoying, but kept his silence, as always.

With a nod and a “See you later,” he was out the door and on his way to… ‘adventure.’ Like in a book. He didn’t intend to take a vehicle over- instead, his dad was waiting just in front of the house in his more seldom used pickup- a black SS pickup, nice and shiny.

Twenty minutes later found him at Ariel’s house- a couple other people seemed to have already arrived, based on the cars sitting outside. After a short goodbye with his father- both of his parents seemed to approve of the social and lengthy trip, for building character in their quiet, introverted, yet fairly mature son.

Unknowingly unlike the others before him, he simply knocked on the door, and waited, backpack on back, duffel bag in hand.

Jarvis Hugo Moore

Jarvis, being Jarvis, had all his stuff packed and ready to go well before he got the text from Ariel. The wording sounded pretty ominous but he didn't linger on it too much. Instead, he grinned a bit as he hefted one of his bags over his shoulders. "Avengers Assemble," he mumbled to himself, almost forgetting that he was wearing a Captain America shirt, of the superhero's shield; only made the quote more fitting. He picked up his other suitcase, having already checked everything over thrice. He had plenty of clothes, his bathroom necessities, and even a few of his favorite comics and a book full of thought-invoking questions, because who knew? He might actually get bored. It'd be a good distraction for having to sit in the car for a while, too, because he hated sitting still for too long. He was probably going to annoy everyone with his constant fidgeting that was sure to happen. Because, he had to ride with someone; he didn't have a car of his own and his father needed his truck for work, obviously. Just because Jarvis was taking a vacation away, didn't mean his father was.

He was going to miss his dad. But... he felt like he needed this little get-away. He had been so stressed out and frustrated, confused and worried over something he couldn't control. He wanted to tell his dad but... not right now. He just couldn't. He came out of his bedroom, to find his father waiting for him, ready to drive him on over. His dad didn't say much at first and Jarvis did feel guilty. He knew he was much of a support beam for his dad and going away was hurting him. The ride over was quiet, only filled with the quiet classic rock coming from the radio, and out through the speakers of the old pick-up. Old rust bucket, was what it was. The truck, loudly, pulled to a stop behind a car that was already parked in front of the house. Jarvis almost cringed at how loud it was. He wasn't embarrassed but he knew it was bothersome to some people. He noticed they caught the attention of a man watering his lawn. They got the stink eye and Jarvis frowned at the attitude of some people.

"Have fun." his dad finally spoke and Jarvis turned to him, nodding. "I will... and I'll be careful." he added, because he knew his dad was worried, the man just wouldn't admit it. Jarvis leaned over the middle console that was pulled down and gave his dad a hug, which the man awkwardly returned in the small space, and weird angle. "I'll be back before you know it! And I'll call a lot, okay?" he said, pushing open the heavy truck door, it creaking loudly in protest. He hopped out, giving his dad a beaming smile. His dad sighed and nodded. "Okay, enjoy it." he said as Jarvis hefted his filled-to-the-brim bags out of the bed of the truck. "I will! Love you!" he said and, using his hip, slammed the door shut. The truck left in a puff of black smoke and Jarvis ignored the stink eye of that neighbor as he approached the house. He hadn't even noticed that someone was waiting at the door, since where his dad had parked, a bush had blocked his view of the front porch.

"Hey Phil!" he greeted excitedly; to be honest, he hadn't gotten to know Phil that well. Mostly, he heard about him from Lizzy, since he spoke to Lizzy a lot in their shared music class. He dropped his heavier bag as he waited for the door to be opened, assuming the other teen had knocked already. "Should be an adventure, yeah?" he asked kindly, just an attempt to spark some conversation, but he wasn't sure if it would work; if they got interrupted by someone answering the door or Phil didn't answer him, that was all right. Jarvis didn't take offense easily or hold anything against anyone at all.

CASS ROWLEY

Her bags had been packed and in the trunk of her car for days now. She was so ready for this.

The text message was like a message from above, even if she took issue with the little 'nickname' that was so associated with her in the group text field. Cass had been waiting for such a message for days now, knowing only that a supposed road trip was coming but not the exact day and date. Because she couldn't schedule her work schedule around this, this meant she still had to suffer through the indignity of holding down a thankless job carting around food and taking orders for people. But the message came through. And with it Cass had to let out a smirk.

This trip was just the excuse she needed to do what she wanted to do from the first day she put on her little apron and didn't get tipped by stingy customers. Cass Rowley was going to quit her job. It wouldn't be the first time and she doubted it would be the last, assuming she took another job again. Who knew what the future held, let alone if she would even come back after the road trip. A lot could happen on the road.

As soon as the message was received, Cass removed her apron and tossed it to the side. As she did, another waitress was heading out to the floor with a tray of food. "Hey, let me take this one, yeah?" Cass stopped the waitress, relieving the poor girl of her responsibilities. Cass didn't care if what she was going to do would reflect badly on her co-worker; she hadn't even remembered the girl's name and she hadn't exactly tried to befriend Cass either. No harm, no foul.

With a tray of food in hand, with one plate containing a burger and another a patty melt, Cass stepped out onto the floor to the couple that had just wanted a nice lunch. "Patty melt?" Cass asked the table, setting it in front of the one who ordered it. Except the food didn't get set on the table. Cass mishandled the plate 'accidentally' and the patty melt slipped off the plate and dropped wholly into the guest's lap. There was an outcry, as expected, with voices being raised and the aggressive partner of the patty melt wearer getting in Cass' face. "So you don't want your bacon cheeseburger, then?" was all Cass said as she tuned out the verbal assault being levied at her. With a shrug of her shoulders she took the man's cheeseburger and bit into it herself. "Still gonna have to charge you for it, though," Cass spoke with a mouthful of meat, bun, cheese, and bacon.

At this point, drawn by the shouting, the manager came rushing out to see what the commotion was all about and he sighed as he saw Cass making a scene. Cass, however, simply turned to the manager and smiled with a meaty mouth. "There you are, Mike. Just wanna let you know that I quit. Just wanted to let you know so I could do this," Cass turned back to the angry couple, took another bite of the burger, and then just dropped the rest of the contents on the plate onto the floor. Burger, fries, even a pickle. The condiments splashed on their feet, with ketchup staining the man's fancy looking leather shoes. Cass was cackling like a banshee as she fled from the scene, hurrying out onto the lot and into her car before anyone was able to restrain her.

She was driving towards Ariel's house while still enjoying the lingering taste of a shitty cheeseburger.

When she pulled up and noticed that she wasn't the first to arrive, her moment of triumph turned to a bit of disappointment as she noticed that Philip would be joining them on this little trip. It was bad enough that Miss Stick in the Mud Liz was pretty much the co-conspirator, but now she'd have to deal with this clown. There was just something about him that Cass hated, and it might've been because she figured he was 'too good' to hang with the salt of the earth like Cass, given how he spoke about as much as a mute.

"The hell are you two doing out here? Making out? Can I watch?" Cass announced her presence to Jarvis and Philip as she walked up towards the door. But rather than stop and wait with them, she simply turned the knob and opened the front door. "Careful if you two are gonna get hot and heavy, this is a very WASPY neighborhood and you know how they are." With yet another cackle, Cass stepped inside, spotting Theo, Alex, Liz, and Ariel.

"Which one of you invited Philly Steak and why? I thought this was supposed to be fun." Cass didn't even grab a cookie, instead hopping, literally hopping, over the back of a couch to take a seat, propping her feet up onto the coffee table as if she owned the place.

Jamie Wolfe

Getting up was always the hardest part of the day for Jamie Wolfe, even though it was into the afternoon when he finally woke up. The first thing he noticed was that he wasn't alone in his bed, which was odd. The second thing he noticed was that he definitely had too much to drink the night before. He didn't remember who he had been with or even how many drinks he drank. James turned over and came face to face with a girl he barely recognized. Images came back from the night before, he had been at a party and this one girl had been flirting with him, that's all he remembered. Turned out he had taken her home with him apparently. She stirred and finally opened her eyes to meet his. Unlike him, she must not have had enough to drink because she smiled and bit her lower lip, saying how amazing the night before had been.

Jamie decided to bullshit it and he grinned back, saying he had a great time too. The girl who's name he did not remember seemed like she was going to continue what they had been doing the night before when James' phones went off on his nightstand. Wolfe sighed and separated front the chick and squinted at his cell's screen. It was a text from Ariel, saying it was time to meet up for the road trip.

"Aw shit, sorry, uh-" James wasn't able to recall the girl's name. "You're gonna have to leave, I'm leaving town today and I totally forgot about it." The girl;s face dropped and he could practically feel the disappointment. Yeah, it was kind of a shitty thing do to her. Most of the girls he brought home weren't happy when they left his house in the morning.

After the girl collected her things and stormed out, Jamie took a shower and dressed himself in black shorts and a black and red tank top. Ending up in the dining room, he noticed his Grandma was home. She told him that his friend Katie had just left and that Grandad was out golfing with some of his friends. James kindly reminded her that the girl was not Katie. Katie had been an old childhood friend who he hadn't seen in years. Grandmas was slowly losing her memory, sadly. Jamie smiled through it and gave her a hug and reminded her to take her pills that he left on the kitchen table for her the night before.

Wolfe was glad he had packed the weekend before and his bags were waiting in the trunk of his r8. He slid into his car and took a moment to breath, which was rare. Thoughts of what was to come during the trip, the people he would be acquainted with and the decisions he had to make afterwards. It could seem like a small thing really, considering the whole big picture. But really, it was huge, the job path he chose would altar his life indefinitely. Marines or mechanics, the question drummed in the back of his head as he drove quite speedily to Ariel's house.

Pulling into the driveway, he noticed that pretty much everyone had arrived before he had, oops. Not that it was a big deal really, he wasn't exactly known for his punctuality. Before he left the car he fumbled around in his glove compartment until his hand found purchase on a pack of cigarettes and dragged it out. He used a lighter taken from his pocket to light a cigarette and exhaled a cloud of smoke. He returned the pack into the glove box and vowed this would be the only time he would smoke that week. Sure, smoking occasionally calmed his hyperactive and overthinking brain, but he knew the shit was bad for him.

James didn't bother knocking on the front door and instead just let himself in. Once in clear view of everyone he cleared his throat and took a bow, smoke curling around him from the cigarette. "Ladies -especially the ladies- and gentlemen, you lives have just gotten better, James freakin' Wolfe has entered the building."

Straightening from his bow, he noticed a few people he didn't recognize. In fact, the only people he did recognize were Cass, Ariel, and Lizzy. There were four other guys, although he was pretty sure one of them was Phillip since Lizzy was here. Well, at least he wouldn't have to introduce himself to each of them individually, as if he actually would spend time doing something as boring as that. So he made sure to keep a straight face so they would think he was being serious, he nailed it, even adding a devilish glint in his eyes.

He glanced at Jarvis- a kid he heard a little about from Lizzy. He knew him from a couple classes, but he doubted the kid recognized him from them. Either way, the kid was making an effort to talk to him, and the kid knew his name, so he knew that it was more likely that he wouldn't respond. He was going to be spending a lengthy amount of time with him, among others- might as well try, for the sake of comfortable silences instead of awkward ones.

"Uh, hi... Jarvis. I suppose this could be an adventure, yeah. I'm feeling a bit anxious, to be honest..."

That was when he found a distraction- one that let him not talk anymore. It was uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, that distraction was Cass. While he did envy her ability- the opposite of his- to say whatever happened to wander through her head- was it self-preservation to say anything and everything, earning her the ability to effectively ignore anyone, just as his was to push everyone away?- but she was... not exactly nice.

Philip was, without a doubt, aggravated beyond words. Which was good, because he didn't talk much anyhow. He didn't say anything, though, and followed mutely behind Cass as she charged into the house.

He didn't say anything, at first, when Cass asked why he was invited. The assholery of the statement did give him a bit of fire- enough for him to get a little snarky. So, quite coldly, he parroted from right behind her-

"Alright, which one of you invited Trouble and why? I thought this was supposed to be fun?"

Not a minute later, in came another member of their impromptu group, and he felt more dread than needbe knot in his gut. But he still had that fire, so turning on him, well aware of the guy's reputation- people seemed to assume that because he didn't speak, he didn't listen- he shot at him as well.

"Oh good, now we can get on the road. No one'll ever lose us with a breadcrumb trail of angry, womanized misled girls."

Thoroughly regretting ever telling Lizzy that he'd come, he strode off, the picture of calculated passivity, despite his words. He had been over once, in recent memory, when Lizzy managed to drag him her for one reason or another. So, ignoring Cass and Wolfe, he disappeared into one of the hallways, back to the entryway to the living room, and leaned against the wall. He wouldn't let himself do anything- not even clench a fist, not even clench his jaw. He just needed a minute to himself. There was no backing out now- not because of anything or anyone but his own honor, and Lizzy.

But he wanted to punch those stupid idiots so much. Maybe they'd do something to really provoke him.

Elizabeth 'Lizzy' Jones

It hadn't suprised Lizzy one bit when Theo entered without knocking."Why, hey there Theo," Lizzy greeted him. She watched him scrunch his nose, obviously in disapproval of the pair's snack. He gave only a nod of a greeting as he handed Lizzy a plastic-wrapped bundle and made a bee-line for the closest rack of cookies and said something inaudible, cookie in his mouth "I'm assuming that means they're good?" Lizzy chuckles before looking at the object in her hands to quickly identify it as banana bread. "Did your mother make this? Tell her I said she is amazing and I love her!" the orange-haired teenager proclaims, she'd always had a love for Theo's mum's banana bread, she'd tried it on her first visit to his house and since then could never say no to it. She peels off some of the plastic wrap to take a slice and take large, well large by Lizzy standards at least, bite out of it. She chewed it thoughtfully, allowing the taste she loved so much to last as long as it could as possible in her mouth as she readjusted the plastic wrap to cover the delicious golden loaf before giving Theo a thumbs up to tell him it was as amazing as always.

"Alright, children. I need to see your permission slips now." came the voice of Alex who had, while keeping a serious face, entered the house and headed toward the cookies before eating one in his usual serious.

"Hey! I'm the responsible person on this trip I have no need for a form," Lizzy jokes, putting on an equally serious face and jokingly glaring down Theo before turning an accusing glance to Ariel. Lizzy was still not content with Ariel's plan to just up-'n'-leave but chose it better to not say anything.

Before Lizzy could say anything more a knock from the door caused her to literally jump from the table in surprise. She was getting used to this 'don't knock- just enter' thing.

"I've got it," she proclaim cooly, placing the banana bread on the spot on the table she just jumped off. Just when she was about mak e her way to the door she could hear it being opened and, before long, Cass appeared in the room followed by the guys. Great. Lizzy thought to herself, sarcasm ever-present in her thoughts. Both Ada and Cass were going to be on this trip. This would be... interesting... to say the least.

"Which one of you invited Philly Steak and why? I thought this was supposed to be fun." she called toward them, Lizzy turned to her, the smile fading from her face.

"Hey! Be nice! He doesn't usually do things like this," Lizzy said defensively, tugging on her orange ponytail. She walked over to her beanie-clad bestie. It surprised her when he decided he would tag along. The group of people, even if the closest to friends he had despite Lizzy, were still a decently sized group of people of interesting sorts and being with them for weeks? Not something Lizzy would imagine Phil volunteering to take part in, but he did, and Lizzy was more than happy to have him in her company. Before should could say anymore, which she was about to do in the form of greeting her best friend, the distinct scent of tobacco waltzed into the room causing Lizzy tto all most gag, she hated that scent, but she knew who came with it and she didn't mind him.

Taking no noticeto his greet Lizzy simply greeted Jamie before Phil's muttering caught her attention. She'd missed his exact wording but when he took off into the hallway she knew something was wrong and she could almost undoubtedly guess what. She allowed him to move partway down the hallway before striding in his direction with almost seemingly perfect assurity in what she was doing.

When she approached Phil he was leaning against the wall. She slowed and strolled toward him, placing a hand on his arm. "Philly?" she cooes, gazing softly into his brown eyes through his glasses with her deep hazel eyes. Suddenly it hit her. She knew this wasn't Phil's thing but still, somehow, convinced him to come along. Phil's parents had both sang their praises at her for it but what if he really didn't want to do this? She felt terrible. "Are you alright?" she asks softly. "I didn't force you into this completely did I?"

Serafina 'Ariel' Gray

Good. Excellent. Everyone was here and accounted for. Everyone except for Ada, of course. Ariel didn't know where on Earth Jay was. Oh well. If the didn't hear the rules, they didn't hear the rules. "Theo, tell your momma I said thanks. I know that stuff is going to be great." When Alex walked in and asked for permission slip, the girl couldn't help but giggle. "Oh please. Your chaperone isn't that strict." Next thing you knew there was a knock at the door, and Ariel decided not to answer. She knew it was Phil. He was the only one who ever bothered to knock at all. And here came the one and only Cass. Jarvis and Phil right behind her. Of course the girl would literally hop over the seat. What better way to get comfy? She couldn't help when her fellow trouble maker -Jamie- came in, but to give the boy a fast hug. Practically jumping up and down with excitement she ran into the living room, her feet bare on the soft carpet. Grabbing the map from the table beside Cass, she would spread it out on the coffee table on which her feet were propped.

She didn't bother with Jamies comment. Phil was one of the group, and that was that. Besides, Head-Over-Heels-Lizzy had this taken care of.

"Okay. Here's the thing guys. I put all of our names into a randomizer and the person who's name pops up gets to close there eyes, point there finger at the map and that will be where we go. It'll happen the whole time through the trip, and everyone will get to pick one destination. So..." She pulled up the randomizer, clicking enter. Holding up the phone so everyone else could see the results she would say: "Cheese Steak, get your ass over here and pick the destination. Eyes closed."

Ada "AJ" Juliette Weston

"MOM! We're two seconds from the house. Go around the car!" Currently in the car with her mother, waiting for another to move out of the way with the whole other side of the street clear, Adas mother wouldn't pass. The house just a few yards down the street, the young woman grabbed her bags out of the back seat. "Screw this. I'm walking."

"Aww.. Addy, don't be like that."

"Don't call me that," she responded, slamming the car door shut.

"Call me sweetie!"

"God, she's a ditz." Jogging to the house in just under thirty seconds -literally, they were that close- she opened the door, her heavily makeup-ed eyes, scanning the room. "Cheese Steak, get your ass over here and pick the destination. Eyes closed."

"Hello loves," she said, heads turning her direction. "Mother was her usual ditzy self this morning." Walking over, she gave Jar a peck on the cheek and flopped down in the middle of the couch beside Cass."Well come on, Sandwich man. Pick a place."

It seemed like once everyone had entered Ari's house, all hell broke loose. Cass had said some half hearted comment aimed at Phil and the poor guy took it to heart. Phillip snap back at Cass, looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day. Lizzy immediately got defensive about her best bud, as per usual. It was kind of sad in Jamie's mind, the two were so close and Phill still wasn't hitting that. Maybe he was gay? Who knew, James didn't judge. Wolfe also noticed that poor Lizzy was making a face like she might puke any second and he remembered how much she hated the smell of tobacco. He put the cigarette out by pinching the tip with his fingers quickly and tossed it into a nearby trashcan. He would be fine without it, right? Then, Ariel bounced up and gave him a quick hug, but Phil whipped around and turned on him. As Ari left, bustling with excitement, Phillip snapped at James.

"Oh good, now we can get on the road. No one'll ever lose us with a breadcrumb trail of angry, womanized misled girls."

James put a hand against his chest and expressed mock sadness. Just because the guy was going out of his comfort zone to go on the trip, didn't explain why he just went after Jamie like that. Phil stalked off to go sulk by himself or whatever, but James made sure to raise his voice so the guy could hear his comeback. Jamie wasn't the type to just let people try and talk shit and not do anything about it.

"Don't be mad 'cause you haven't been in pussy since the day you came out one bud. It's not my fault girls go for me, they know how I work and they still fall in love and shit," James called out loudly.

Before the situation could probably get out of hand, Ariel came back in and changed the subject. She told Theo to thank his mom for the banana bread which looked pretty appetizing, honestly. Now his memory was coming back to him, he had talked to Theo a couple times in school, the guy was pretty chill. Ari spoke up then and Jamie turned his attention to her.

Wolfe took this time to grab a couple cookies, stuffing them into his mouth as he looked over Ariel's shoulder at the map.

"Ya know, I've always wanted to go to Cali, The beaches, the girls, that'd be a good time right? Now that I think about it, anywhere on the west coast would be cool. Hell, we could go have some fun in Mexico too while we're at it. Although I heard you aren't supposed to drink the water cuz it's ass or something." Realizing he was getting distracted, Jamie shut up and waited for Butthurt Phillip to pick the first place they'd head to first. When Ada arrived he made sure to wave, and roll his eyes when she called her mom a ditz, classic Ada.

Jarvis Hugo Moore

Jarvis had been a little surprised Philip knew his name. He didn't remember really talking to him before, so maybe Lizzy had mentioned him a couple times. Philip did look familiar. He'd feel really rude if he had him in a couple of classes and didn't recognize him. His smile dimmed a little when Philip said he felt a little bit anxious; he was going to agree, because he, himself, did feel a little nervous. He didn't exactly know everyone but he was also excited, because he was such a people person. However, before he could reply, a voice came from behind them. Oh no. He turned towards Cass, his smile dropping at her words, but he didn't make a comment. Sure, to some, it was a funny joke, but he hadn't found amusement in it.

While he had never exactly sat down and talked to Cass himself, he had heard plenty about her, and that was honestly enough for him. He wouldn't be purposefully rude to her, of course, but he had heard quite some interesting things about her. He decided not saying anything would be best, because he had heard that was how Cass was, and he needed to get used to it since this was going to such a long trip. He stepped inside behind Cass and Philip, putting his bags off to the side to shove in someone's car later - they hadn't discussed who was driving and who wasn't so it should be interesting to see who got paired with who - and looked at Cass in slight surprise at her comment about Philip. Jarvis didn't understand people's ability to be so outright rude and his disapproval of it showed on his face.

This, however, wasn't his fight and he slipped into the kitchen to avoid it. He wasn't going to start out as the peacekeeper of this group; he didn't want that to be his first impression at all. He smiled when he saw Lizzy, and smiled more when she defended Philip. He had expected it, since they were such close friends. He ignored the raising tensions in the other room as he spotted cookies and went for them. He, also, noticed Theo and Alex as he snatched up a cookie. "Hey Theo." he greeted before shoving half the cookie in his mouth. He had met him a couple times through Lizzy and he had thought he seemed like a pretty cool guy. "Alex," he added with a nod in Alex's direction; him, he didn't quite know as well, but he had seen him around school, and heard about him through Lizzy. It was always through Lizzy, wasn't it?

He decided to leave back into the living room just in time to hear Philip's comment directed at Jamie. He almost turned around but kept going, standing beside the couch and finishing off his cookie. He didn't like how some of the people were getting along already. It would make an interesting trip, that was for sure. He smiled at Ariel's excitement, going over and poking her in the side with a soft greeting; he had met her through Lizzy, again, and enjoyed her company. He liked the sound of just randomly picking a place on the map. It would make the trip even more exciting. When Ada was finally there, his face brightened. "Ada!" he said happily and, like the dork he was, presented his cheek to her. "Your mom isn't that bad," he chided her softly, moving behind the couch and beginning to teasingly mess with her hair as he awaited Philip's return. He glanced over at Jamie when he mentioned California. "I've never been to a beach," he mused, twisting some of Ada's hair around his fingers, and letting it slip through them, before repeating it, watching his own movements. He wondered where Jay was at but didn't let the thought linger; Jay would get there when he got there, he told hismelf.

JAREK ANTHONY WILHELM

CURRENTLY WEARING

From: Kitten

Guys, its time. get over here. me n Lizzy have cookies.
~*~Kitten~*~

ew. kitten. it was a loaded nickname. whenever jarek got a text from ariel he felt like he was some sort of daddy dom since she called herself that. in any case, his disgust was no matter right now - that text was what brought a ringtone from hell to wake him up. sure, it might be his fault for sleeping in so late through the day, but hey; no one was ever around to judge him for it. school was relatively unnecessary at this point, considering his parents didn't bother to enforce his attendance. he made fine enough grades when he did come in for testing and major exams, thanks to an abundance of personal books in this massive place's library. say, it might be appropriate to make a literary reference, then: the 'massive place' in question quite resembled a certain jay gatsby's home from a certain f. scott fitzgerald's jazz age novel, minus the gold accents. jarek could just hear that owl-eyed man from gatsby's libary peering through the pages of books with wonder: "they're real! they're real!" what a man. of course, jarek didn't trust half of the information from his parents' library since everything was outdated, but the books were all still real.

none of that was relevant. he was being summoned, and if he didn't come, he was likely to miss some grand announcement from the cookie girls. jarek flopped on his drama queen-sized bed to grab his cell phone and examined it suspiciously, jerking his head back once the bright light of his screen illuminated the dark room. it smelled faintly of marshmallow vodka, by his own fault. might have spilled some on the sheets once upon a time... once upon two nights ago. jarek scowled at the smell and then rolled again, sitting up so he could yank up the blinds of his window. christ! it was bright out, and he thought it was only morning. yet another roll and jarek was off his bed and on his feet, stumbling towards the wall, only just barely balancing himself against it. he hummed a nonsensical tune to himself whilst he yanked on a shirt, shivering in the freezing temperature that haunted his room, then a heavy jacket adorned with various unnecessary (but nonetheless collected and cared for) pins and buttons. his jeans, jet black, skinny, and almost too tight to pull over his jutting hipbones, were much less exciting, however.

without the heart to call for a chauffeur, either one of his friends or one of the many nurses under his parents' employ, jarek found that he was stuck with a bicycle. that was fine enough. it's not like he had a driver's license yet, like the majority of his friends - you're far too destructive, mr. wilhelm, or, you're a danger to the other drivers, jarek, or you totally wrecked my goddamn car, like hell i'm going to let you drive your own, asshole; you know how the story goes. jarek took that type of unfortunate news elegantly, though, and figured he could just look sick as hell skateboarding everywhere. all right, truth be told, jarek with his baby face and unimposing silhouette kind of looked like a seven year old riding to his friend's house to play pokémon, but still - it was a form of transport, and it worked well enough. he was terrible at it, though, so he stuck with his bike this time. thank god for the relatively short distance between his own monster of a home and ariel's - jay was never all that athletic.

quite literally sliding down the stairwell (indeed, ass on the railing and feet out so he could glide without getting caught on anything), jarek was downstairs within minutes. as usual, the bottom floor of his home was empty, leave for an ancient cat who he'd decided to name 'scratch' after a nasty old scar it gave him a year back. he thumbed the claw mark, still faintly visible, that ran down his arm, before lifting the cat in the air and rolling his eyes at the disgruntled hiss that followed. "old man," he mumbled accusatorily, then set scratch on the counter so he could feed him. and what of feeding himself? well... jay spun round, took a clementine from the fruit bowl, examined it, and then decided he didn't need any food this morning. afternoon, whatever. instead, he opted for a bottle of water, sipped from it, then shoved it into the inside pocket of his jacket. decidedly, this was enough nutrition to get him all the way to ariel's house - hey, there are cookies there, anyway. jarek grabbed his backpack, traipsed outside, hopped on his bike, and began his trek. evidently, he didn't need to leave a note. not like anyone would come looking, he thought cynically.

a familiar coupe was ahead of him, and jay decided to let jamie's car lead him so he could zone out all by his lonesome. it occurred to him that there was a myriad of things he'd forgotten to do in his haste to leave, such as, y'know, shower. he grinned to himself - of course he'd remember to feed that damn elderly cat and then forget to actually clean himself. no matter, he bathed last night; hopefully the scent of men's dove still lingered. just to be safe, jay held onto his handlebars with one hand and dug through his coat pocket with the other, struggling to free a stick of gum from its pack without dropping the entire thing on the asphalt. eventually he did, and a piece of spearmint was in his mouth soon enough. praise god for his seemingly fluid supply of chewing gum. there was plenty in the knapsack over his shoulder, lest his stash be stolen by a certain group of friends prone to habitual kleptomania. there's that cynicism again... but with good reason!

he'd lost the R8 simply because he wasn't as fast as the four-wheeler, but jarek made it to ariel's house anyway. and, apparently, last of them all. he didn't let that fact affect his mood, though, since that was pretty typical of him. it smelled suspiciously of cookies around here, and jay, a serial food-hater, disapproved heavily. he eyed the exterior of the house for a good spot to plant his gum just to make his hatred clear, but that seemed a little too evil. deciding against being a douche just yet, jay approached the door, raising his fist as if he were going to knock on the door... then just pushing his away through. i've never been to a beach... the first thing he heard was, of course, from jar jar binks himself. jay smiled, holding the door knob and very gently closing the door so that he didn't interrupt. his entrance was unusually clandestine this time around, but that was just to help his sneak attack be more successful.

carefully, jay approached the kitchen, following the scent of baking (which he assumed was only cookies, but now there was a hint of banana - strange). his eyes landed first on the one kid he knew best. jarvis moore, as he liked to say, 'cause what's better than disconcerting people by using their full name? completely unfazed by the population of the room, at least for now, he stepped up to jar and wrapped his arms around the other boy's waist. an innocent hug, no less! but not really - jarek continued to lean back, using his own gangly legs as leverage to try and lift jarvis up slightly into the air. "guess who-o-o," he cooed, obviously quite pleased with himself. these kinds of shenanigans were the type he only got up to with someone as timid as jarvis - anyone else would have retaliated by now, but lil' jar either didn't care or didn't have the guts to confront jay about it. while he assumed it was the former that was true, jarek wouldn't be surprised if jarvis felt the latter. people were, more often than not, afraid of triggering a little outburst in jay. god knows why - they're buckets of fun! allowing jarvis to touch the floor, jarek stood on his toes and aimed to rest his chin on his friend's head. decidedly, that was completely appropriate. "am i interrupting something? what's this about a beach?"

his gaze was inquisitive, but he was curious about more than the topic of conversation. while jarek was a fairly popular kid, especially for being one of the youngest in the little group gathered here, he wasn't close to everyone - especially specific parts of his immediate company. the quietest of all was the one he knew as alex, although alex's appearance was completely mismatched to his personality. typically the dusty-blond kid with conventionally attractive features - angular jawline, brooding gaze, muscular figure - was the kind of kid to be brash and outgoing, but alex didn't seem to match up with that cliché. he was generous, for sure, always putting a smile on peoples' faces, but he also very rarely spoke and behaved in a rather reserved manner. perhaps it's just the fact that jarek was terrible at reading people, always placing his judgment on appearances first... what's that saying, 'never judge a book by its cover'? yeah, jarek doesn't follow that. he rather liked to make cut decisions. one of them was a little dream that perhaps alex wasn't as innocent as he seemed. to be fair, jay thinks that about every quiet kid. hell, he even thinks jarvis could kill a man.

equally intriguing was the 'cheese steak' kid, as everyone so lovingly had taken to calling him. jay personally preferred 'ivy,' or 'poison ivy,' if he was feeling particularly playful. nothing was distinguishing about his appearance necessarily, or at least not to the extent that alex was at, but phil met every conventional standard for beauty; why not be extra exuberant and ultra fun at parties? come to think of it, jarek was pretty sure he'd never seen phil having a good time by his own free will. he was almost surprised that phil came here in the first place, but not really - the friendship between him and liz was no secret. they were like two peas in a pod, literally. 'ivy' remained somewhat of a wet blanket, though, so why risk his own happiness by coming along? jarek realised this was a perfect opportunity to challenge both himself and phil's limits. this trip could be how he drags an unwilling and unprepared kid out of his shell. ha. jay made a mental note to give himself some more credit.

theodore - jay preferred 'teddy,' personally - was another story, but somewhat similar. he was quiet like those three, sure, but he was also obviously not shy. he was uninhibited in social interaction, almost constantly engaged, and, hell, he was holding banana bread. that was a sure sign of social success, right there. jay knew theo to be somewhat of a high-seeker, too, with all his nigh self-destructiveness (hey, sounds familiar) and his daredevil sportsmanship. personally, jarek envied that. he could only get physically wild in the same way theo did when he was having some sort of manic episode - which was kind of pitiful in itself. 'teddy' was admirable in more ways than one, though. most obvious was his insane height. six feet tall may not seem like a great feat in many peoples' eyes, but the average-height jarek felt it was a gift from god and looked up to theo - both literally and metaphorically. next was his confidence that bordered on even being arrogant. jay's famed for his self-criticism and persistent self-examination, but he's never given himself a positive score. it's probably for the best that he doesn't get too cocky, though.

a sweet girl lives in elizabeth jones. in jarek's eyes, she's somewhat trapped in a broken individual's body, peering through the cracks every once in a while but unable to completely wrench herself free. that's too poetic a way to put it, though, considering how ugly it can be to have issues revealing one's true identity. jay figured, since liz never addressed it publicly in front of this group of friends, that he was simply overanalyzing her. instead he paid more attention to that vibrant-ass to die for hair, or whatever; it's more like she's the only person younger than him here that he knew of. approximately four months younger, that is. jay likes to take whatever chance he can get to throw that fact in her and everyone else's faces. there's also the lovely fact that he's a full nine inches taller, so jay makes a point to stand near lizzy whenever he gets the chance just to look a lil' more like a giant and less like a dwarf in the presence of the rest of the males here. not that he got along spectacularly well with liz like she did with phil - in fact, he found himself far too obnoxious to mingle with her more delicate personality.

she's not the only one who bottles things up. he catches glimpses of it in ariel, too, when he takes the time to look at her long enough (it's just so hard - jay constantly tells her she needs to grow out of that emo/scene phase, lightheartedly of course, and always earns a little chuckle from himself at the least). ariel was more self-assured it seems, considering she sometimes has a bit of bite in her words, some might even say she's a tad snarky. it was admirable, honestly. ariel was more clever than jarek could be, with his probably lower-seventy intelligence quotient. her wit was quicker, her pace more jaunty; truth be told, jay knew he needed to stop comparing himself to his friends, but she was just a perfect target for self-criticism. dunno. the need to disprove oneself arises at the strangest times.

cassandra rowley was a different story from everyone, a completely separate entity in this room by comparison of personality. she was loud - which was why jarek was rather fond of her, honestly - and uninhibited, two traits you might associate with an obnoxious person, but cass was somehow able to differentiate. she had a way of making herself interesting, not in spite of her volume, but because of it. jay envied it, to tell the truth; he himself could get quite annoying after too long, unfortunately. maybe he'd just end up asking cass how she could pull it off. although... that might be a bit difficult, considering she intimidated him just slightly, and for no good reason at all. for two people who were fairly similar, he found it a challenge to spend too much time around the unpredictable girl - maybe it's just that he feared himself. how pretentious, he thought, a faint smile lingering on his lips.

ada was equally unpredictable, although jarek didn't observe her nearly as well to deduce the length of it. she was as reckless as he was - oh, but i bet they let her drive a car - and more antagonistic about it, too. like most of the others in the room, though, she seemed devoted to the little group they had gathered, always able to crack a smile in another kid with ease. jay wasn't nearly as generous. he's fairly certain he's seen her 'bad side' once or twice, however, and if memory serves correctly it wasn't the prettiest sight to behold. short tempers are never fun, obviously, but with ada that fact proved ten times worse. despite her diminutive size (she was just barely bigger than lil' bitty lizzy), ada could turn into something of a monster if you set her off. now, jarek had never considered himself a very careful person, but if his naturally annoying personality could set her off, he wouldn't mind taking his time to step over landmines.

the kid he'd followed halfway here was just as extreme, but in different measures. jarek based his knowledge of jamie off of secondhand word-of-mouth, which meant the most he knew about the kid was that he was a player (jay typically laughed off the rumour, citing that if you weren't sleeping with all genders, then you weren't truly a player; no matter, he could mess with jamie all he wanted). it was believable, in any case, because jarek couldn't see jamie in a long-lasting and serious relationship. his personality was something of a mess, as far as jay could tell; who would stick with that for too long? he was as in love with adrenaline and taking dares as theo was, it seemed, and didn't seem to have an 'off' switch. the one redeeming quality jarek could make of the male was the fact that he didn't appear to ever be actually angry, unlike a certain little blonde in this room. that was just as well, though - jay was certain that if jamie actually got angry, he'd live up to the wordplay in his surname.

it's not like his observations were always very spot-on, though. jarek raised an inquisitive eyebrow at the group once he was through with his scrutiny, eyeing the bowl of cookie dough in particular. that thing must have every kid's nasty saliva in it at this point. jay made a poont to turn his nose up at it to show his disgust.

Philip Howard Iverson

Philip just turned to face Lizzy, watching her face with a strained stare of his own.

Quietly, he added on to it, saying, "Um, just, a little. I don't really like half the kids here, so, well, you know. It's fine, though. I said I'd do it, and that's on me."

He took a breath- not even a deep one, but more symbolic than anything- and relaxed the tension of his shoulders, removing the strain from his face. He knew it wasn't exactly healthy, locking away any negative emotions into a jar, but it was... necessary. Otherwise, at this point, he would've slammed his fist into some conceited asshole's face a couple dozen times, by now.

So he gave Lizzy one of those smiles of his, and a brief one-armed hug. "It's alright, though. I'm sure I'll have... fun. And a couple idiots don't change anything, regardless of how annoying they are. Come on, before they decide to start rumors."

Taking the lead and re-entering the room- he was eavesdropping, and knew himself to be choosing their first destination.

So, approaching the table, he eyed the layout of the map, its position and where everything was. No one really knew him to be particularly 'smart'- maybe Lizzy knew, and that was about it. None of them knew, or had any reason to suspect, that he had borderline photographic memory.

It was somewhat easy to walk up to the map, closing his eyes partway to it. Gently bumping against the table so he knew where he was, he reached out and felt along the edge of the table until he felt the edge of the map. Tracing both his hands along the outside of it, he got a sense of the size of the map, and combined that with what he saw before he closed his eyes.

He thought, for a brief moment, of where he wanted to go. Raising his head to 'stare' at the ceiling, eyes closed, so no one could accuse him of peeking, he raised a hand and brought a finger down somewhere around the central Western Seaboard. Opening his eyes and glancing down, he raised his finger.

"I'd call that Sacramento, wouldn't you all?"

Elizabeth 'Lizzy' Jones

"Um, just, a little. I don't really like half the kids here, so, well, you know. It's fine, though. I said I'd do it, and that's on me." Lizzy felt terrible. She knew her friend took comfort in the fact that she'd never hurt, not intentionally at least, but what if she had. she bit on her lip ever-so-softly.

"Phil I... I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to force you into this... I'd never try and purposefully put you into a situation that makes you too uncomfortable. You know that right, I suppose I just did though... I'm sorry," she says gently resting her eyes upon his strained glare.

Phil gave her a smile and Lizzy couldn't help but think he really wasn't fine. She would definitely pull him up on that sometime later that day. He placed an arm around Lizzy in an awkward one-armed hug which Lizzy couldn't help but chuckle slightly at. Phil wasn't one for intimacy even in the form of hugs. Lizzy, in her natural love for hugs, wrapped her arms around her best friend's abdomen (as she was too short to wrap her arms around his neck without it being as awkward as Phil's one armed hug).

"I'm sorry for dragging you into this, Philly, I should've known this wasn't your thing. I guess some of them are bit overbearing.... I didn't mean for it to seem like you couldn't say no. It's my fault" she mutters, well aware she was, primarily, repeating herself, she wanted to make it clear she didn't intentionally force him into something so uncomfortable and... alien for him. The last thing she'd want to do is hurt a friend particularly Phil.

Rumours starting. Ha! Ariel had definitely hinted that both Lizzy and Phil both had crushes on each other and should be dating to Lizzy on more than one occasion, Lizzy wouldn't be surprised at all if there was a rumour or two floating around claiming the pair of buddies were dating.

Upon Phil removing his arm from around her shoulders Lizzy got the hint and unwrapped her arms from him before following him back to the loungeroom where the rest of gang sat or stood or whatever. Lizzy folded her arms and leaned against the wall. His movements seeming almost too calculated but Lizzy wrote it off as her mind giving her friend a little too much credit. Phil was a lot smarter than he showed, Lizzy knew that, but knowing exactly where his finger had landed she doubted.

"So now we've got that sorted, who's going with who?" she asks, leaning forward slightly.

Serafina 'Ariel' Gray

And now Ada was here. Everyone was accounted for and as she checked the map, Ariel could indeed see that the destination was Sacramento. "Well I guess you're gonna get your wish, Jamie. Cali here we come!" She paused for a second, walking over to the door and putting on her socks and Converse. She didn't mind if her friends stared. It was probably the most mundane thing she was going to do on the whole trip. "So.. I think Alex sent a text not to long ago and said that he was the luggage guy... I voulunteer my car, but we have to know who elses we're taking, because no way are we cramming into my Kia," she said with a small laugh.

Hearing Lizzys comment of whom was going with who, she shrugged her shoulders. "That's up to you guys. I could do a randomizer again, or you can all agree in a civil manner."

Ada "AJ" Juliette Weston

As Jarvius played with her hair, she laid her head on his chest. After all, why not? "True, darling, but really, sometimes I'm sure I'm the adult in that relationship." She watched as Philip picked a destination and hearing that it was California, instantly perked up. Then there was the decision of cars, just as Ariel had said.

"Well, Cass does have that sick Camaro," she responded.

Theo tried his best not to pay any attention to the drama that the likes of Cass and Jamie brought with them. Such attention seekers. He didn't want to indulge them but when Jamie, Cass and Phil exchanged words, he couldn't help but sigh and murmur "Are you clowns going to be bitching at each other the entire trip?". Theo didn't really know Phil all that well but he knew he didn't deserve the bitchy comment Cass had directed at him.

Shoving another cookie in his mouth, he watched Lizzy chase after Philly and wondered if that was another thing that was going to be a recurring event throughout the trip. As bitchy as Jamie and Cass were, Phil would have to develop a thicker skin if he was going to survive this trip.

While Liz and Phil talked in the other room and the others chatted amongst themselves, Theo sat on the kitchen counter, trying his best not to eat all the cookies until the others returned and Phil chose their destination. Sacramento? Interesting. He had never been to Sacramento and didn't know that much about it but it was in California and he loved California so he was all for it. When Ariel asked who was going with who, Theo chimed in, saying "Well my car's outside if anyone wants to ride with me." He reached into his pocket and and pulled out his keys, spinning them around his finger.

Jarvis Hugo Moore

Ada's hair was something Jarvis found to be very beautiful. The girl kept up with it, that was for sure. It was super long, an almost shocking color of blonde, with a slight wave throughout it all. As he twisted a long strand around his fingers and let it slip through, fall back to spill over the back of the couch, he acknowledged the softness of it, the shine it gave off even in the dimmer light of the room. However, his thoughts were more so distracted by the beach. He had never been out of the state before. Heck, he had rarely went out of town, let alone the state before. When you didn't have money... you didn't go places that cost a lot of money, simple as that. He had seen the beach on TV, of course, but naturally, that wasn't the same as experiencing it in person. He wanted to feel the sun-warmed sand on his bare feet. He wanted to hear the waves coming and going. He wanted to smell the ocean - he had read that it smelt much like salt and seaweed and wanted to know that combination for himself. So, going to the beach sounded really nice. He glanced around the room, wondering if just about everyone here had traveled to another place before. He felt like he stood out amongst them primarily because of his financial status. He had even been hesitant to go on this trip.

Jarvis had an issue with spending money on himself. It was very hard for him to do. Growing up in a household where money always went to things needed, rarely things wanted, caused a mindset in him that he couldn't make purchases that were a want. Sure, he bought himself things nonetheless. He still had those wants, and sometimes had to give in to keep his sanity, but it was always hard, and he had a tendency to belittle himself for it. The struggle to buy his used ps3 was real, and he still almost hadn't gotten it in the end. His dad had been the pushing force for that one. He loved the things he had, the comics and games and knickknacks, but sometimes, he hated looking at them. Money was a looming shadow over Jarvis, always hanging over his head dark and heavy, unable to shake. He struggled to spend it, to make purchases for himself. He almost backed out on going on this trip. He had been saving money for a long time, just a little at a time, more of a college fund than anything. When Lizzy first mentioned the trip to him, then Ada came along and mentioned it again, he had slept many nights on it, always eyeing that savings jar of his, wondering if he should do it. Just dip into it a little for a fun and freeing summer, try to escape the stresses following him around every and all day. He wasn't going to go, at first, in all honesty. He had counted out the money in the jar more than twenty times in the few days he was trying to make a decision. It was a good amount, too, and taking some for the trip wouldn't hurt it too badly. He could replace it over time... but replacing it was different than adding to it. Again, he wasn't going to go. He was going to tell Lizzy no, and give the disappointing phone call to Ada.

Then, he found out Jarek was going. Now, Jarvis considered that strange child his best friend. The bestest best friend of best friends he had ever had. Jarek was just... different. Jarvis liked different. Jarek was also weird and Jarvis liked weird. Somehow, the two had clicked quite quickly. Perhaps it was the way Jarvis had patience with him, never batting an eye at his strange behavior, and instead keeping his chill and just going with it. Jarvis was good at going with the flow and for someone like Jarek, he needed a best friend that could do that. Maybe it also helped Jarvis could be a calming presence; he understood Jarek's boundaries, respected them, but still pushed on them just enough to help Jarek out when he needed it. He adored Jarek, admittedly. He was his best friend, after all! Finding out Jarek was going... had sort of been Jarvis' push to go. And Ada, oh, she had called with a smile in her voice to announce Jarek was going. How did Jarvis not hear this from Jarek himself, he wasn't sure, but Ada knew that was the one thing to say to rope Jarvis into going. And, yeah, that rope certainly caught and pulled the young boy in. Not only because Jarek was someone Jarvis genuinely enjoyed being around, but also because of the amount of people going. He knew Jarek as well as the back of his own hand. He wasn't going to let Jarek go on a trip with this many people and not be there as some sort of buffer if it was needed. It wasn't for everyone's benefit, however, it was for Jarek's. Jarvis may be a tad bit overprotective of the impulsive young man; Jarvis mother-hen'd Ada, it was only normal he'd mother-hen his favorite person in the world. Which, Ada was his second favorite person, but... Jarek totally took up first place and probably always would.

So, after that bit of news, he had dug into that savings jar and got some money for this trip. He had broke the news to his dad, who had been surprised he was doing something so big for himself, but also happy for him. If not a little worried, because Jarvis had been bringing in money for a few good years now, and the summer would be a bit hard without that money now. Jarvis had felt bad enough to dig into his savings jar some more and hand over some of that, to try and help out with the summer expenses while he was away. His dad had outright refused but Jarvis deposited it into the bank account anyway. It had hurt a little, to take out a bigger chunk than intended from his savings, but he knew his dad wouldn't just blow it while he was gone, and it would be helpful and cause less stress for his dad over the summer. Jarvis also felt bad because he was getting a vacation and his dad had never had one his whole life. It was enough guilt to almost make him back out but his dad encouraged it and, after casually talking about it with Jarek (more like excitedly rambling like a happy puppy to Jarek), he couldn't bring himself to back out. He was super excited, not only because Jarek was going, but because he was going to get to see some of the country, something he had never done before. How dare he think earlier he might get bored? He'd probably be amazed to see an empty field because it would be in another state and that was still just so wonderful in Jar's head. He couldn't believe he might actually see a beach, too, if fate would have it. This summer was going to be pretty freaking amazing, if other emotions and thoughts could keep out of the way long enough.

As he was musing to himself, overthinking like he sometimes did, he hadn't seen Jarek's attack coming. It was called a sneak attack for a reason, wasn't it? He had just let go of some of Ada's hair, ready to begin a very bad braid because he couldn't braid hair worth a crap, when arms were grabbing onto his waist. He let out a surprised noise, arms flailing just the slightest when his feet went slightly off the ground, his heart fluttering in shock. When he heard the familiar voice, he wasn't surprised; Jarek was the only one in this group who would do this to him, for sure. He immediately calmed down, letting out a small laugh instead as he rolled his eyes. Jarek always kept his days more interesting, that was for sure. He was glad when his feet were back on the floor; he was afraid Jarek's little stick legs might break trying to pick him up. While Jarvis was fairly skinny from his high metabolism (and only from that), he still wasn't that light. He hunkered down just slightly, knees bending, when he felt Jarek's chin digging into the top of his head. When he spoke his question, it was as if everyone else disappeared in the room for Jarvis; actually, that had happened the instant the arms were around his waist, because no one else would do that to him but Jarek. "Jay-bird!" he announced excitedly to himself; Jarek always kept him entertained so to him, his excitement was necessary. He ducked away from his best friend's chin, turning to him in the tight space between the couch and his body, and leaned back against the couch, so he wasn't as close to him. Though, it still didn't leave that much room between them, not that it bothered Jarvis any. He could be a handsy person if the other person was, either way didn't bother him. His heart hadn't slowed down as he grinned at Jarek, blue-green eyes brightened. "Talking about how we shouldn't go to a beach or you might accidentally drown yourself... or someone else." he teased, reaching forward and thumping one of the many buttons on Jay-bird's jacket, making it give off a quiet rattle.

He noticed Jarek doing his rounds with observing eyes to the group, and he didn't bother hiding the fact he was openly watching Jarek, just because he could. He liked watching Jarek. Jarvis liked to call it bird-watching since he called Jarek jay-bird, ha. Jarvis also was the only one who called Jarek 'Jay-bird' and liked it that way so he hoped the nickname didn't pick up traction. So what, Jarvis could be a bit possession of his favorite things too. However, when he saw Jarek's disgust at the bowl of cookie dough - which Jarvis had avoided too, he didn't mind sharing food but only with certain people (read as: Ada and Jarek)) - he frowned and reached forward. He didn't quite touch Jarek, instead grabbing the flaps on his heavy jacket and shaking them slightly, readjusting them, almost like a mother would do to their small child. "Have you eaten today?" he whispered, even leaning forward a bit so Jarek would be the only one who heard his question; he wasn't going to openly pester Jarek, though he gladly would. He had no shame in how he treated and favored Jarek... to a point, at least. It helped he and Jarek were just about the same height, blue-green eyes flickering between Jarek's own before going down to his own hands, which were still grasping the flaps of the jacket and gently fiddling with it. Jarvis was a touchy person but he knew Jarek wasn't much of one so he found other ways to get his physical need out around him.

He was so distracted by Jarek, so focused on him (that happened sometimes, again, favorite person ever), he hadn't even noticed Philip's return to choose the place on the map. The thing that did perk his ears was the word 'Sacramento' being tossed out into the air. His shoulders straightened up, fingers squeezing the leather of Jarek's jacket (by the way, he did wonder, why in the world was he wearing this bulky ass thing when it was warm out?), as his grin returned. "The beach!" he said excitedly, to really no one but himself, though obviously Jarek would hear. Then, he overheard discussions of transportation. It was probably rude, him having his back to everyone in favor of Jarek, but he couldn't bring himself to care that much. "I'm gonna get stuck with you, aren't I?" he asked Jarek, giving a suffering sigh, but his smile and the way he playfully tugged on Jarek's jacket said that he did not mind one bit at all.

CASS ROWLEY

See, that was why she had her doubts about going anywhere with the eternal stick in the mud that was 'Philly Steak'. When she heard what his comeback was, namely that he was just echoing exactly what she said about him, her laugh was fake and loud and mocking, a single exclaim of 'HAAAH' followed by a rather rude gesture involving Cass moving her fist in a motion normally associated for the thing teenage boys do in their rooms when they were bored. The guy couldn't take a joke nor could he deliver one, as it turned out. He was rather low on her list of people she wanted to spend any amount of time with; yet another bore, yet another person who thinks maturity means being the most dull person alive.

At least there were some decent folk to be had. She had no real beef with the others, and she genuinely liked AJ, evidenced by her friendly little smirk as she sat on the couch next to Cass; and James was like a brother from a different parent with how much she enjoyed someone else that had a lust for just getting into whatever crazy shit came their way. If this little trip was to go anywhere, she would definitely prefer hanging around with them rather than the others. She was well aware that her reputation was probably what the others gathered knew about her, but if they couldn't get past that part of her then that was their problem, not hers.

"Man, fuck a beach," Cass said, practically dismissing the general vibe of the room, turning her head towards James for the moment. "It's not like some California tail is any different than the girls you leave behind here. Well, they won't know you so that might actually work out in your favor. Unless I swoop in and woo them away from your little ass." Cass was practically cackling at that, she was nothing if not extremely confident.

Cass' attention turned from James to Theo, giving the new target of her attention a bit of a sneer as she stuck out her tongue at him; childish, sure, but it got the point across. "Calling Phil a clown is an insult to clowns. At least clowns make people feel something. Phil is like a black hole. He sucks." She didn't even care if he heard her, she wouldn't apologize anyway. "I mean, Sacramento? That's like the asshole of California. Phil's probably gonna want to go to museums or shit the whole time. Fucking borrrrrrrrrrrrrrringggggggggg."

Cass was clearly not happy about their first destination, but there was little she could do about it other than accept it. "But whatever, anywhere's better than here I guess." Cass sighed, crossing her arms across her chest. Finally she turned her eyes to AJ, shaking her head furiously in denial. "Hey hey hey, it's a BITCHIN' Camaro, you gotta get it right. And anyone not named Phil is allowed to ride with me. But if you think of touching the stereo I will throw your freeloadin' asses to the curb."

Philip Howard Iverson

Philip's walls were already back up. He wasn't exactly expecting Cass to show up at his back- he did allow himself a brief moment of vulnerability to talk to Jarvis. The kid wasn't so bad, so... maybe. He'll consider talking to him more. He momentarily reflected about how ridiculous it was for a tennager to consider talking to someone like an adult would a life-changing decision- thinking it over carefully for some time beforehand before doing it. However, he was well aware of how ridiculous his mind worked, and mentally shook it off.

Externally, nothing on his face changed as he listened to everyone else- including Cass.

To which, he could only respond with a soft, pleasant smile in her direction, and a diplomatic, sarcastic approach- "Mmmmhm. You bet, Rowley."

Now ignoring her, he turned to everyone else, asking, "Sacramento doesn't have the ocean-side beach, but there's a common folk in the city that like to swim a whole lot in the lakes and rivers- not so much beach-side, but lake-side. Not the same, but might be friendlier for all you non-boring people. Might even get free barbecue if you make friends. But yes, there are a couple places that you more physical people might find 'boring' that I'd like to go to."

Having finished his longest communication to someone besides Lizzy or his family in about a year, and far more than most anyone in the room has ever heard from him, he retreated to one of the farther walls, leaning against it and observing.

He did sort of long to be like Cass- there was so much he restrained, so much that he did it unconsciously now. Whatever was on her mind, spilled out. A shame it made her so easy to figure out, and maybe, if he had such confidence, connect to in some way... even if he did want to throttle her. Just a little.
