• Personality: Sumire is rather lighthearted and jovial for a feudal lord, and treats everyone she meets with the utmost respect. She is especially kind to her servants, treating them as her equals rather than her subordinates, thus ensuring their complete loyalty. To those she is more familiar with, she acts even more casual, and can be a bit flirty at times. Most notably, she barely even tries to hide the fact that she is in a sexual relationship with her servant Akako.
• History: The young feudal lord of a rather fertile stretch of land, Sumire... Wasn't actually supposed to be part of the party. Rather, it was supposed to be her mother, Hinageshi Masaru, a reknowned samurai whose skill with the blade was only matched by her immense wealth. As she grew up, Sumire idolized her mother, and would have tried her best to emulate her were it not for the fact that Hinageshi wished for her daughter to lead a peaceful life. Forbidden from training with any weapon aside from the humble naginata, Sumire was taught that it was better to be happy and respectful of others than to seek out conflict. But still, her mother worried about her, and so assigned a bodyguard for her; a young ninja named Akako. The two practically grew up together, and whilst the ninja was initially rather shy and insecure, Sumire was able to reach out to her and give her the confidence she needed to become a great fighter. And as the two grew up, they grew closer and closer, until eventually rumours began spreading that the young lady Masaru was taking Akako to her bedchambers on a regular basis. ...These rumours are in fact completely
true.
It wasn't that long ago that Sumire's mother was called upon to help escort the princess. Sumire was all prepared to bid her farewell and wish her good luck on her mission, but... On a stormy night, the unthinkable happened. Someone, somehow... They must have taken her by surprised, for Hinageshi was found murdered not far from her home, having only just set out to meet up with the princess the other day. Unwilling to let even this break her cheerfulness, Sumire swallowed her sadness and, alongside Akako and a few handpicked servants, headed off in place of her mother.
Someone needed to fill the role Hinageshi had been given, after all, even if it was mostly funding... And who knows, maybe she'd find out who killed her mother...
• Strengths:
•• Wealth: Sumire's family happens to be one of the wealthiest in the area, making money not be much of a problem for her. In addition, she is equipped with the highest quality weaponry and armour possible.
•• Undying Loyalty: Due to how well she treats them, Sumire's servants are immensely, unshakably loyal to her, even willing to die for her. She usually has a small contingent of servants with her; however, aside from Akako none of them are particularly skilled at combat.
•• Shibari: Due to her...
Experiments with her servant Akako, Sumire has become a master of shibari, the traditional Japanese art of rope bondage. She is able to firmly and securely tie up someone so that they cannot move (although it's far more difficult to do so if the subject isn't willing), and due to understanding how knots and bondage works she finds it much easier to escape any bindings placed upon her.
• Weaknesses:
•• Mental: Whilst she is usually rather cheerful, Sumire has a habit of hiding whenever she is upset, letting it eat away at her whilst she continues to wear a mask of false happiness. And whilst she usually treats everyone with respect, she is rather a bit too possesssive and protective of her servant Akako. She is easily angered if other try to flirt with her (although as stated before she will try to hide it), and if anyone seriously injures the ninja, she will drop all pretenses and enter a berserk fury.
•• Physical: Sumire lacks any real combat experience; whilst she is skilled with her naginata she has never actually been in a real battle before. In addition, she has focused solely on training with the naginata; she has no skill with any other weapon, and will be next to useless if she loses it. Sumire is also not as physically capable as the other samurai in the party; whilst she
can hold her own, there is a reason why she is mostly just there for financial backing.
• Likes: Giving others the respect they are due, treating others equally, happiness, Akako's backside, BDSM.
• Dislikes: Showing negative emotions, other people flirting with Akako, injustice, cooked mushrooms (they're disgustingly slimy!).
