@Gimple That's a pretty awesome map. What software did you use? I am being a total hypocrite and not reading all of our post because it is close to bedtime, but from what I saw, I really like the set up you did. I was just complaining to my boyfriend today about how I can never find a good group to tabletop with. In my usual one, we have that one person who takes over and doesn't listen to anything anyone says and makes it kind of miserable for everyone. Sidenote - I saw someone today who is new that may be right up your alley once he/she gets more comfortable roleplaying ... let's see if I can find the name ... *wanders off* ... *comes back from the greeting forum covered in cobwebs* TurntechGallows, that's their name. They might bite from what I saw they posted as greeting. I'll push them in your direction. :D PSS: I hate that post count ridiculousness too. I had a four+ year text-based roleplay running with two of my friends before I discovered this place existed!
I'm new to roleplaying and in table-top format all my characters end up dying.
Ah, the cursed trait one gets with tabletops. My curse is that I always join in right near the end. I can never start from the beginning, and if I do, then the game dies. Woe are the tabletop cursed ones.
I have ideas for the maid x nobleman. Tons, actually. It's been something I've been wanting to write on my own, but I've given up hope of doing that. Haha.
Hello, there! First, thank you for your mild curiosity and potential interest in writing a story with me!
18+ = RP Partner Must Be 18+ (preferrably older, but whatevs)
Female, plays all pairings (MxM, FxM, FxF) and either gender.
My Typical Response Time (minimum) = One to two days for OOC, RPs could vary but will respond at least once a week, maybe more.
Typically High-Cas, can do Casual or Advanced.
Roleplaying Limits = will not do torture or rape/molestation actively, though it may be part of a character's past.
I like romance. I like depressing romance with a happy ending the best. Slow burns are usually preferred, unless otherwise specified.
I appreciate a slow burn waaaay more than instant infatuation. In fact, instant infatuation drives me crazy - attraction is one thing, but immediately 'ride or die' is a bit ugggh.
If there is romance, I'm ok with fade-to-black or giving details. Whatever my writing partner prefers.
If romance is involved or even a possibility, I won't write a character under the age of 18 or agree to a partner's character being under 18.
Romance isn't necessary to write with me. Respecting the individuality of our characters is.
Savvy = Mostly do PM posts - so, my post count won't be reflective of how active I am - and
Have been writing as a hobby for over 15 years.
Looking for one writing buddy. Current craving: Pirate or outlaw scenario.
(I have ideas for both)
Below are genres I enjoy with pairings I'm interested in. I have vague plots for each, but am good with co-writing something new up. They all are for any gender pairing, and don't necessarily have to be romantic.
* = My Preference No * = I'm good with either
Since I've been asked to clarify: Non-descript on genders Example from below = 'expedition leader' is male or female, dependant on set up/up for discussion
Open for suggestions - this is the easiest for me to write and I enjoy it. Some suggestions are below with locations or scenarios rather than pairings, but feel free to propose your own. Only requirement is that the main characters are 21 or older, though I prefer 26+.
Vacation Resort (snowy or beachy; have ideas for pairing situation, but open to suggestions as well)
Deserted Island (stranded; boat malfunction or plane crash)
Lost in a forest (plane crash survivors; wandered from trail/chased by wild animal, or open to suggestions)
Expedition Leader x Planet Native (space travel, new world creation)
Survivor x Survivor (zombies around)
Scavenger* x Raider (have plot)
Also including scenarios here rather than pairings
Merperson x Coastal Townsperson
Royalty x Bandit
Lost in a forest with fantasy elements!
Note: doesn't have to be 100% accurate, but cannot be culturally offensive (if applicable). I have a plot for all of these suggestions, but can work finer details out.
Native x Lost Aristocrat
Frontiersman* x Lost Explorer
Outlaw* x Bounty Hunter/Marshall
Warzone nearby; outlying village/town (have a few plot options as well as receptive to suggestions; anything WWII or before)
Note: OCs only - rarely include canon, just like the setting
Walking Dead
Fallout
Dungeons & Dragons
Firefly
This War of Mine
Cyberpunk 2077
Hunger Games
Dragon Age
Red Dead Redemption
Mass Effect
Disclaimer on my disposition
If you have a specific plot on your own IC you really want to write, hit me up and I’ll check it out. I'm a sucker for slice of life. However~ please don't ask me to write the intro if it's your idea. Tbh, I'm kind of tired of writing intros for people only for them to disappear. I donno if it's that it doesn't fit their idea or what, but ... c'mon. I'm flexible on a lot of things and communicate ideas, so all I ask is mutual respect in that area. Alright? Alright.
I'm subscribed to this, so if you post here I'll see it - if you prefer to PM me, then go right ahead~ I look forward to hearing from interested individuals~
If you're an old partner who is worried I won't be up for reconnecting because you ghosted, no worries~ I know life gets hectic and the real world sweeps us away, it certainly has happened to me as well. Just putting that out there because I often don't reach out to people for that very reason. :)
My Writing Style for RPs
Another disclaimer. People either really like my writing style or really hate it, so boom, here goes.
TL;DR - don't steamroll our RP. Don't write for my character without discussing it with me first.
I consider role play writing as partner writing where I control my characters and make decisions for my characters and display actions for my characters, and my partner does the same for theirs. I get defensive for my characters when their reactions are assumed and a scene continues without my input. That being said, I write to allow my partner's characters time to react to what my character says or does.
That's the part that is aggravating to some - I don't and will not assume what a partner's character's reaction will be a majority of the time. It's primarily why I don't 'require' a post length. Quality over quantity. You'll never get less than a paragraph from me if you'd like to be my writing partner, I promise, but it's likely it will mostly be narrative. If there is dialogue, then I wait on a response before continuing on.
My characters never ask more than one question at a time unless it's natural to what's happening - as in, they're mad and yelling about something, firing off rhetorical questions. To me, role play writing is taking on the role of your character and giving life to them. I dislike having to 'fill in the blank' when a partner posts an entire apartment tour or date scene, it makes it seem like my character's reactions wouldn't matter. Honestly, it's probably just rushing to the juicy bits, but I'm not about that. Don't get me wrong, I can write some hellacious smut once the characters get there, but ... gotta give my characters reason to be interested enough for me to put in the effort. =P
Ah, I should say that it makes my characters all seem introverted and the silent type. They're not. Any bit of dialogue I do write is meant to continue on without interruption. Some people fill in or throw in a question by their character between the "Insert Sentence Here" - narrative describing what my character does while speaking because people don't stand stock still as they talk - "Another sentence". It kinda would dislodge whatever my character was in the middle of saying. - Also a reason why I don't have my character respond to multiple questions in a post. At least, fill-in-the-blank style. Don't worry, I'll let you know if my character has been 'boxed in' and I'd hope you'd do the same. I try not to do it, but I have and never mind re-writing something.
Lastly - for now, haha - I never mind re-writing something if I wrote too much or too little for my partner, or if I incorrectly assume or misinterpret something a partner's character does. Please let me know. I feel like my characters are a lot smarter than I am most of the time.
If you'd like to see writing samples, I have plenty to provide and will happily do so since this makes it sound as if I'm ridiculous. I know I am, but not for my partner writing preferences. If it's not your cup of tea, then reading this saved us some time. If it makes sense, you're cool with it, you have questions, hit me up. I like talking to people.
Again, Jude listened quietly while the friends talked, taking a sip from his drink or a nibble at his food. Upon Aiden mentioning his interest in being a medical researcher, Jude became curious. "What is it that you're interested in researching?" He'd often asked interns when they did a rotation in trauma where their future aims were pointed, and the habitual nature of his question surprised him a little even though he did not let it show. He did not let a lot of things show as he had lots of practice internalizing since expression was not good to have in the trauma ward. Often others mistake it as weakness, especially superiors, he remembered. That in mind, he had started trying to have more a kindness towards the newbies while off-duty. Perhaps that was more unkind for the shocking reality of his demeanor while on duty. In passing, he wondered if these two did not recognize him at first because of the drastic difference.
Levi had waited patiently on the business between the customer and the shop owner to conclude, folding his arms behind his back as was his custom when in an idle stance, each elbow clutched by the opposing hand. He stood straighter after receiving the glare, which he took as acknowledgement in the least form. As the woman received her change, turning and dropping it into her purse, Levi gave her a polite smile to which she return with a thank-you nod as she strode past him towards the exit. The movement for the previously stationary owner caught Levi's eye quickly, his head turning back towards the man's ire.
"Come on, she wouldn't have purchased anything if I'd not stepped in. I've seen tons of women browsing with that expression - passive, not entirely set on purchasing anything in particular," Levi released one elbow as he pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose smartly. "That's the only time you can lock them down on anything. It's good business. You don't really seem the type to want to deal with the customers, so it is a wonder you don't want someone to take that load off your shoulders."
Already, Levi was calculating his next approach. He had to get a lead, and he knew this was the only place to find it because the trail ran cold after entering this shop.
As Jude munched on his lunch, he watched the two friends in amusement as Annie wore Aiden down. Really, her points were entirely valid and obvious as exhaustion seemed to encompass the kid. As Aiden ceded to his friend, Jude had set down his bottle of water he'd just taken a drink from and smiled. "Good, you look as if you need the rest. I'll show you to my office when you're ready and then I'll go present to the board while you nap. You won't be disturbed." He could guarantee that since he'd actually never had anyone come inside his office aside from during consultations. The other doctors met in the conference room or their common area during shift downtime - something he rarely got between the paperwork and constant flow of surgeries. Around them, he noticed the atrium begin to fill more now and the noise level naturally followed suit. He had a little while until the board met - they were probably all eat together in here somewhere right now, or at one of the nearby restaurants. Typically they stayed close when it was a winter wonderland outside. The older ones did not care much for the cold, always complaining of aches and glad for upcoming retirement. But even those remarks had been political. Jude thought he much preferred his current company over where he could have gone for lunch.
