Hiya, AChronum here! Although I'm relatively new to rping, I have plenty of writing experience and love trying new genres and styles. I absolutely love high magic fantasy RPs and am pretty much willing to do anything so long as I can create a charaxter, not play an existing one, and develop lots and lots of backstory! I'm perfectly comfortable with all mature themes as well, although smut for smut's sake is out of the question.

Interested in an RP? Send me a PM and have a magically marvelous day!

Volaris

Volaris watched the pair a moment more and considered Elizabeth’s question. Everything in this world was worth more than they could possibly imagine because everything here was beyond all they expected. They had no concept of what was happening in this world, how they held others, what their wars were about. What could be done to destroy everything they accepted as truth.

“I expect they have some information on the surrounding area at the very least. If they have nothing else, they will be useful for our experiments and rebuilding our undead defenses. As for this,” He glanced down at himself and turned to the demon, “I find people underestimate the elderly far more than than the young. There is a certain degree of...satisfaction in taking advantage of the ignorance of others.” He dragged his finger down slowly in the air and the gate flew open on his command. “We’ve waited far too long as it is. Let us not make our guests wait longer.” He stepped through, expecting the pair to follow.

The Gate opened in front of the exhausted soldiers and Volaris stepped out, ignoring them for a moment. It struck him as odd, the vibrancy of this world. How full and deep the greenery around him was, how loud and heavy the noises of birds and creatures in the underbrush were. His world was a nightmare compared to here. Even trees were mostly pictures in books, programs in games, and drastically restricted to specialized farms. In lessons, people were taught of the wonders and importance of progress, of development, of necessary evil sacrificing the world for humanity’s benefit had been. So why was his imagination so vivid? He shook his head and turned back to the injured parties.

“Lost are we?” Volaris asked cheerily, “And quite the worse for wear I see. Elizabeth, patch these sad souls up a tad please.”

Anna

“Decided to bring along the pet, Baron?” The older changeling rounded the corner, a few books in hand and an old scroll tucked under her arm. One book was open already, Spacial Magicks and Its Effects on Reality, and she thumbed through it after putting the other items down gently on the table. She settled in at the table she placed her things on and began pouring over the items she collected.

Xenos clicked his tongue irritably and brought his rifle again, waited for his buff, fired and repeated from his position. Hopefully, they’d level relatively quickly so he can increase his accuracy.

“Prepare your methods and do not worry about involving me in your research.I will make myself available to your inquiries after we have confirmed we have a few moments of respite. I trust the pair of you will exceed in this task. As tedious as it is, I will not have one of ours sacrificed to carelessness. And once we’ve established the existing rules, we can continue onto the fun,” the word was accompanied by giggles, cackling, and howling laughter, “part of this particular activity. Now go. I will return with what I discover to add to your data.” Volaris dismissed the pair. Once they understood how the world around them functioned, they could expand their field of research and keep the pair occupied with more gruesome inquires. The rings shimmered and he felt the now familiar tug as the Cathedral changed around him.

He floated alone in his personal quarters. He never did bother decorating much. Some musty and cobweb covered trunks, a few ripped books, and blood stains but nothing extravagant. Just the basics. It was refreshing to return to a quieter spot after wandering the Cathedral's extravagant halls. Volaris absently floated towards a hat rack that had seen better days. A single hat, dust and cobweb free, hung. Volaris picked it up and took of his glowing head piece, placing it gently on the rack. He took a moment to himself, contemplating his plans. If it wasn’t his imagination, his considerations for the future were rather disturbing. Or maybe that made it even more disturbing. Perhaps he should get a therapist when he woke up.

The specter reappeared in the Scrying Chamber and fit the hat on his head. It felt like a sheen of plastic wrapped tightly around him, over and over and over until his original shape could no longer be seen. He tested his fingers and his arms, turned his head and stretched. He moved forward and back, left and right. He was unable to move vertically however. The same as usual. He glanced in the still water and raised at eyebrow at the man staring back at him. Not his usual disguise but unassuming, plain, and very nonthreatening. He shrugged, satisfied.

“Create lesser magic item.” He held out his right hand and a magic circle descended. A simple wooden cane appeared in its wake and he hunched over as he leaned on it. He brought the image of the two soldiers scurrying into the forest. Still on track. Once Elizabeth and Megu returned, they would approach the pair.

Xenos acted quickly, loading the rifle and taking a knee. He took a breath and held it, finger resting on the trigger until the Keen Eye notification popped up in his peripheral. He pulled the trigger, grunting at the sharp press of the rifle into his shoulder but swung it down to reload as quickly as possible. He grumbled at the precious seconds wasted, almost triggering auto reload before he remembered Reylan’s command, and took another breath, got his buff, and fired once more into the boar.

Volaris

Volaris regarded the arrogant child with fond amusement. Despite his clashing nature or rather because of, Volaris couldn’t help but be reminded of Latada. “I see your creator bequeathed her hubris unto to you. Curiously, I find some small measure of solace in that. I pray it does not find you in the rather unfortunate situations it found her, as amusing as they were.” Hopefully, she didn’t program her recklessness into the child. That could become a burden the specter didn’t particularly wish to bear.

“Now, Tatter and Lexicon. We’ve come to a world we know nothing about. Its people, its traditions, its magics. I will not suffer to sit blindly by on any account and so I give a task to you, the dedication and ingenuity of a scientist and the brilliance of a prodigy. Magic is arguably our greatest asset and will always level our playfield and so it is our priority to determine the rules and regulations of this world. Does our magic still work as it should? What has changed, if anything, that will help or hinder us? And ultimately, how do the denizens of this world perceive and harness magic? Our goal is to discover what guidelines exist and then push them further than any mortal creature could possibly conceive. And once we have, their world as they know it will be redefined in our image whether they wish it or not.” Volaris’ mouths all twitched into grotesque smiles. A world where rules were a concept of the past, where nothing was fixed or certain, where anything could change on the smallest whim- it sounded like a dream.

“You two will work together on this project. Start by confirming the magics of the cathedral, the guardians-as they return from their missions-, our items, and myself still work with our expectations from Yggdrasil. From there, you will expand your searches into the outside world to study their magic and methodology and periodically bring back specimens for study. For now, establish a baseline method for consistent data collection. I will be sending the Guardians to the arena so you may observe them once I have returned from my task.”
Xenos

Xenos grumbled as they marched towards the dungeon. After having a short chat with Reylan about how much ammo he should bring since he couldn’t seem to remember how much he used before, Xenos hoped around 100 shots would be enough. He had to take out an 800 renn loan as it was since this guild’s vengeance fed desperation didn't allow those who used consumables to cut costs and just make their shit. Hopefully, he’d make enough in this dungeon to repay the loan since, if this Guild’s attitude was anything to go by, he probably wouldn’t have time to start circulating his grenade launcher orake a few other things he was interested in.

Xenos nodded as Reylan spoke and followed the man into the dungeon. He cleared his head, tucking the slight irritation he felt at the situation in the back of his mind. He’d figure out a way to convince them to slow the fuck down eventually.

Anna

Anna fumed as other Guardians had the audacity to do anything other than grovel beneath her Lord. They should be busy climbing over each other to serve Him rather than pondering and lamenting their home. Goodbye and good riddance. Those hypocritical, backstabbing bastards deserved their fates. A Supreme Being, her Creator, still existed to lead them and they should feel blessed rather than dismayed. At this point, they should be blessed Lord Volaris hadn't yet whipped them within an inch of their lives! This situation may be beyond their frail understanding but nothing could escape the wisdom of the Supremes. Lord Volaris certainly had a plan. All they had to do was bring it to fruition.

“As you wish, Lord Volaris.” The woman crooned as teleported both Rule and herself back to the main hall. She stepped back to her tower, casting layers of illusions and glamorous over the Cathedral and the surrounding area, replacing it with an image of the forest and heavier than usual undergrowth.

Rule

Rule slipped through the door after the talkative Guardian. The ooze rarely left the tower, content with the squishy and screamy preys his Lord always provided. And as much as it would prefer to stay somewhere it could feel everything, it was an order from a Supreme Being and Rule wasn’t about to disrespect the Lord. Rule only existed as it did because of its Lord and Rule would not pay back that kindness with ingratitude. Rule settled at the bottom of the cathedral steps and focused on feeling the area.

The ooze was slammed with sensory information. The twitch of hundreds of things on the ground, the long movements of things above, tinier things scuttling about beneath the other hundreds of things, the cool sensation of the wind, the other Guardian flailing about and chattering incessantly, stronger vibrations suddenly swelling- it all cascaded over the ooze and Rule was frozen, malleable form barely twitching as it attempted to process. Irritation bubbled, literally, on the outside of the ooze as it sorted and acclimated. Jack’s incessant prattling didn’t help.

“You… much… Know as…” The words, normally issued from an artificial orifice the ooze created, came out sharp as they burst from individual bubbles. Rule didn’t have the mental capacity at the moment to keep a mouth in shape. “Distrac… Attackers while… Kill you… I bait…” The outside was a bad place, Rule decided quickly. Why any of the Guardians ever wanted to leave the Cathedral was beyond it.

Volaris

Volaris wanted to run a hand over his face as more of the Guardians made their way in. It almost felt like he was back at his old job, his employees up just after morning meetings were concluded. He needed to get out more or something if his subconscious was twisting his escape into a mockery of the real world.

“I expect those of you arriving late while strive not to do so again.” Volaris’ said cooly as he address the latecomers. “There are many lessons to be learned from failure but tardiness teaches the least. In light of the severity of our current condition howver I will overlook this issue once. I recommend it not happen again.”

“Skout. While your forward thinking is appreciated, make sure you check in with myself or Baron before investigating new or unusual phenomena. If you were to be injured or compromised, we would have never known and you could have put your other Guardians at risk.” Volaris let his tone return to neutral as he continued. “Since you have some knowledge of what lays outside, you will be acting as an intermediary between the three scouting parties sent out. Helena, Samael, and Morningstar and Garlock are searching the East, South, and West respectively. You will be their point of contact and communication between them. Magical communications are forbidden until I understand more about this world. Inform the others as you meet with them.”

“Baron, bring Kat with you to find Anna once she has completed her task. The three of you will investigate the Akashic records for anything that may have caused this. Legends, rumors, items, spells. If it is even mentioned within the realm of possibility, bring me the source information as quickly as possible.” He nodded at Baron and Kat briefly before moving on. “Xirphi and Sagi, you two will stay in the Grand Dome Room. If anyone other than a Guardian walks through the Cathedral doors, destroy the way further into the Cathedral and then kill the intruders.”

He took a second to contemplate Ladata’s youngest creation and sighed inwardly. Children were alway a struggle for him. Questions and curiosity he could handle. Poor judgement skills combined with an unreasonable amount of energy not so much. Adults understood hierarchy and logical progression, following orders most of the time. But children were a natural disaster, difficult to control and intent on bring hell on earth. Volaris’ mouths frowned as a realization came to him. Not only Lexicon but Elizabeth, Tatter, and Kat, who was technically an adult but Frankly Volaris failed to see him as one, were all children. So four children locked in a horrifying building, two of them twisted beyond belief. When he wakes up, maybe he’ll try to hunt these people down and offer to pay for proper therapy.

“Lexicon will be staying with me for the time being.” Given they knew nothing about their current predicament, Volaris intended to find out the extent to which magic worked here and if the rules of Yggdrasil still applied. With Tatter and Lexicon working together, he felt they were the best chance not only to illuminate the rules of this world but bend and push at them until they could get exactly what he wanted. The specter only hoped he wouldn’t have to put his foot down, so to speak, too often with the pair.
Xenos

Interacting with: @Conscripts

“Okay so dude I get you have the whole regal, formal, polite thing going on but sit down.” Xenos muttered to Stephen and kicked out a chair. “Fuck, why didn’t I go mage? Coulda sub-classed into alchemist and made a hangover cure because whoever designed this shitty game made hangovers a damned thing.” Xenos listen to the rest of the group with his face buried in his arms. Thankfully everyone felt that spending some time preparing was the smarter choice. Thank goodness because if they decided to charge in head first, Xenos would have been the first one out the door. He wasn’t friendly enough with any of them yet to be dying for a guy he barely knew. Xenos had one goal above all others, survive this hellscape of a game, and death wishing companions fell real short of that.

Xenos frowned at the mention of the letter. “And you don’t know Valentine at all? You’ve never come across him? We just got unlucky and Karma was the first sucker he stumbled across? Cause it sounds a lot more like he wants to fuck with you rather than the rest of us.” Xenos shrugged as he threw out the concept.

“As for the leveling, should we put together a plan for how we want to build our skill points? We are training for a specific purpose and putting points in something like mathematics or gathering right now probably wouldn’t be the smartest move. We probably ought to make sure we are optimizing and maybe having whoever runs the guild tactics work with each of us would help make us a more cohesive unit.”
Volaris

Volaris stared impassively at the Professor’s aggravated Guardian. Normally, he would feel some degree of remorse or empathy for the poor woman. She did after all just lose someone important to her. And yet he couldn’t bring himself to conjurer much of an emotional response. The specter put the thought away for later. His fingers tapped on the edge of the basin as the others spoke.

'Interesting. Far more expressive than Yggdrasil.’ The specter thought. ‘I may have to have to sit down with each of them to discuss current events.’

“Settle down Morningstar. Your question is not so simply answered. There is a tale to be told and it will take some time to tell. For now, we prioritize our safety. We know nothing of where we find ourselves and could be stricken down at any moment. I will not see my comrades’ precious creations annihilated when they have been granted a second chance. Once I am certain none of you are in any danger, we may sit and I will tell you our history.” Volaris looked back down into the pool, refocusing on the fort he found while waiting on the Guardians to arrive. It was in rough shape, walls missing chunks and bodies scattered around the gates still. Broken arrows and weapons littered the grass around the roads and evidence of fires put out recently scarred the insides. People rushed to and fro, some carting bodies, other bandaging the injurer, some wandering in a daze.

Volaris turned his eyeless face to the ghoul and didn’t speak for a long while. Yseult Concasseur and Volaris rarely crossed paths and when they did their exchanges were brief and polite. The demon’s personality reflected well on her creations if the other Guardians were anything to go by. Helena’s request fell easily into his plans. Giving her a goal would likely help distract from what the Ash Demon’s other creations were muttering about.

“Anna will make the first move, screening us from prying eyes. Once she completes her spells, restrict your scouting to the east of the Cathedral, Helena. Prioritize stealth but if you should be compromised, bring them back to us alive. Morningstar and Garlock will scout to the west and Samael will scout the South. Again, stealth is the priority but bring back anyone or anything that compromised you. Jack and Rule will maintain our perimeter in the time being. Finally, Elizabeth and Megu will accompany me to a fortified settlement not far from here. Once we reach the edge of the forest, Megu will stay within its boundaries and scout the northern section while she waits for our return. To those ends, Elizabeth and Megu dress in plain clothes. We will strive to avoid attention. And if I have not yet given you as task, prepare yourselves for battle. I would not have us blindsided while we work.” He turned his attention to the ubergiest.

“Except for you Tatter. I have a special task for you. Stay a moment.”
