These interactions eventually lead to them developing a close friendship with one another. Among other things she has lost her ship body in a battle with I-401 and have also engaged in combat with the Japanese ground forces, nearly letting her own emotions take a hold of her. Afterwards follows an adventure with Makie, Kirishima and to a lesser extent, Maya since only Maya still has a ship body to put to sea among the three fog vessels. They eventually end up meeting with Japanese officials following tumultuous happenings behind the scenes of both humans and fog...
  • Personality:
    • "Curious, analytical, calm and predisposed to communicating with people" Describes Haruna pretty well.
    • She is among the most human like of all the Fog vessels with mental models due to her extended contact with humans.

Aside from a few differences owing to her being a teddy bear, her history is intrinsically linked with that of Haruna and Makie...
  • Personality:
    • "aggressive, loud, cynical and impatient" Describes Kirishima which looking back at her sister, is almost nearly the polar opposite...
    • She does display human like characteristics, although that's a bit more questionable since she has spent bout ninety-five percent of the franchise as a teddy bear...

VITA IS MY SENPAI!

EDIT:

I might actually just throw in Makie in there as well...

~RISA~

"Looks fine..."

Risa commented as she lead Shizuri and her two companions towards the Italian style restaurant... Once inside she lead Shizuri inside before turning around to face the two...

"Right you... get in"

She said as she pointed at Marza, to which the fairy grinned and continued inside...

"You... stay here..."

And that one was for Lisa... To which her special split just shrugged at and proceeded to grumble away...

Inside the restaurant Risa leads Shizuri and her fairy to a nice window table...

"Alright... What'd you have?..."

Risa asked Shizuri however she got an answer from her fairy as well..

"I'm gonna start of with that smoked salmon..."

"Look I wasn't asking you... but smoked salmon does sound nice..."

Risa then looks expectantly at Shizuri waiting for the girl's answer...

And that there is why I would preferably have the ship body included... Deterrence, It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it...

While that's going on I've decided that the backup plan of Kancolle, should I use characters from said universe I would opt for original ship girls or at least ship girl forms of vessels in WWII which have yet to appear in the kancolle franchise to give me a bit more leeway in explaining how things work... Though of course this would mean I'd have no picture of said ship girls and such will go against your prediction of such part always being a picture... Could always go the VitaVita route and draw em myself... But that would mean going through the horrors of actually drawing...

@PaulHaynek
Indeed a Morton's Fork... The people in select serieses/universes who would take notice of an Artificial intelligence, reconfigurable warship armed with graviton and photon weapons and composed of nanomaterials would also very likely also take notice of a girl that can induce localized gravitational anomalies and project barriers impervious to conventional weaponry and also made out of nanomaterials...

Though at least they eat normal food...

Instead of munching on mortar shells, aluminum ore and washing it down with black gold... Oh and then eating normal food...

@PaulHaynek
I'm actually curious as to how everyone else does their post building...

  • For no.1 There's only been one proper engagement in the manga that involved mental models... Essentially expect barrier based combat and local gravity shift shenanigans... However the ship/character is still able to utilize the equipment present on their ship body... So for example the ship body might be out on the harbor and situation dictates the need for offshore bombardment support on the Mental Model's position then that's perfectly within their capabilities...
  • For no.2 That's the part that you solve by hiding the ships... Because if anything the 80 or so chapters of the manga has shown, is that the FOG vessels are extremely good at hiding, submarine or not...
  • And as for the last part... I'm just not entirely sure how the things in Kancolle work in general I mean paper talismans turning into miniature warplanes complete with pilots, I'd chuck that one as magic but I don't know if it is canonically actually magic... Yes I should be able to roleplay them fine since I have made fanfics for it but what I'm worried about is that I might portray how things work in a completely inaccurate manner...
    If you're fine with it being slightly AU then yes Kancolle is a second choice...

~RISA~

"I'm not really in a position to criticize you but it's a big world out there, in fact, its too big... Might as well see as much of it as you can..."

Risa was silent for a while and her eyes go unfocused for a second...

"Anyways I digress... around here, it's actually more difficult to NOT find a place to eat at... Well that goes for everywhere in the city really... I've not been further than a few dozen meters from a vending machine of some description... Like that one..."

She points over to the other side of the street where a beverage machine was situated, it had the usual fair of cold sodas and teas, to the unusual, such as hot soda and soup...

"...Hmm, If you're done with your book shopping, we could go have a stroll about the foody places... And you'd just pick one you like... Whatd'ya say to that plan?"

Risa finishes with a light smile crossing her features...

Meanwhile on the opposite end of the store...

" Well 'The Major' has dropped a spot again on this poll..."

Marza points out as she does some illicit private reading on a corner...

"You do remember that Risa doesn't particularly bother much about this malarkey... And by extension, neither do I..."

"Oh come on... At least pour a bit of that pride into this... I thought you girls liked a bit of competition..."

"Yes but not this sort... And besides the only reason 'The Major' was in any way popular is because Risa's identity is public... When the 'non-secretive mahou shoujo' image gets old, naturally popularity would drop..."

"Well... Do something that would at the very least keep you on the poll's front page..."

"Like what exactly? As much as I'd hate to admit it, Risa's not that much of a looker to draw in the masses through her... aesthetic appeals..."

"Hmm... Well most of Risa's fans tend to be military otaku because... Well let's be honest, she and you, are... Also her fans like her petite and under devel..."

"You finish that sentence and you're the one that's gonna get served..."

Snapped Lisa as she glared daggers at the fairy...

"... Ehe he... Right, sorry... Anyways, you could improve your popularity by like doing service work... Like say find a maid cafe, arrange for a special 'Major's night' or something where you get a bunch of splits to be the waitresses and service personnel for a night... It's a lot of win in there... The cafe owners get a boost in patronage because of the customers you would attract... The customers would have their fantasy of being served by the Major... in a good way to be fulfilled... And Risa and you by extension should become more popular while at the same time earning some money..."

"Hmm... That is a brilliant idea... except for one thing..."

Lisa gestured to herself to finish the statement...

"... Right, You and Risa would make for terrible waitresses and service personnel... Still it is an idea to consider..."

"Should stick to something simple... A band, now Risa's not at all talented enough to do songwriting so we'd start with some covers first..."

"That's... a nice one..."

"Great... now would you please return that copy of Mahou Shoujo Ace back... Private reading is frowned upon you know..."

"Nah... I'm buyin this..."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah... So what's the band gonna be called?"

"The Company!"

"Yeah, nice try but that's dreadful..."

"You cheeky little bugger..."

@TheFake
They're perfectly fine with their ship bodies being far away from their human mental model so really could put the ships in any place which is convenient... For obvious reasons just living them in a suitably large body of water is ideal... Though in a pinch, underwater, dry land, or even in orbit would suffice...

@PaulHaynek

Just missed the GM by an hour from the looks of it...
Happily the characters I have in mind are those from Aoki hagane no Arpeggio... Which means they need not have to bring their ship bodies inside anything not built for something that large, could just use the normal human sized mental models to just have a stroll... And don't worry about going to places where there's no water, or even land to stand on, since they can fly just fine...
