I just love me some XCom. Brings me back to those days where my whole squads would almost get wiped and I'd complete missions with only one or two dudes left

...

I've been too busy to do anything about making a CS for the past few days, but I'll see if I can sneak one in before the IC starts.
EDIT: App complete and ready for review.

Tentative interest check is tentative.

...

Mondays and Tuesdays are usually a bad time for me in terms of activity (today is in fact Monday for me, just so you have an idea of my time zone), but I can easily shoot for getting a sheet done on a Wednesday.

It turned out Hiroshi's aim was off in hind-sight, but it didn't matter in the long run; all that mattered in the end was that she managed to get the boy's attention, which she ultimately got. As soon as she saw him get up off the seat, Hiroshi immediately followed suit, unhooking her bag from her desk and heaving it on her shoulder. She'd zipped it back up of course, before setting off. She nodded in acknowledgement of the boy's thanks... though in reality, she should be the one to thank him for complying without asking the slightest question. Hiroshi didn't know what kind of scene she'd be making over that one lousy seat, or rather, what kind of scene the Asperger's in her would've demanded the rest of her brain to come up with. But she was thankful that such a thing wouldn't come to pass.

In any case, Hiroshi moved quickly to regain her rightful seat, before anyone else would think to take it from her. She grabbed the chair in her haste and pulled it away, trading it with the one for a nearby desk. Hiroshi had a very particular thing against seats being "kept warm for her"; the only tush she wanted to know was on a chair each day was her own. In any case, the teacher eventually arrived, and announced that class was to officially begin from that point on.

"I am Kurihara-sensei, and I'll be teaching your class this year. I hope we'll all have a great year together, and that each of you learn something and become successful high school students this year," said the teacher, "Now, why don't we begin introducing ourselves to our fellow classmates?"

'Oh joy; even more time wasting,' Hiroshi faintly groaned as this thought came across her mind. She was expecting to learn a lot of things this year, but other people's names was not one of them. She did not want to sit there and wait for people to talk about their hobbies or their backstories... or even any pleasantries. She just wanted them over and done with. So, instead of the student that Kurihara-sensei had implied was to go first, Hiroshi decided that she'd take the initiative.

"Oshiro Hiroshi," she said in a matter-of-factly tone, "Let's just hurry this along, now; I haven't got all day to spend not actually learning things..."

One slow train ride later, Hiroshi was finally at school. She wasn't really in the mood for fannying about this time around, with what having no sleep, nothing eat since she couldn't eat her food on the train for some stupid reason (that being she couldn't procure a seat)... she just wanted to get to class and get it over with. She made her way to Classroom 2C where she was assigned for the year. Which was fine. Hiroshi wasn't expecting to be in the very same classroom this time around, and it saved her from having to walk up one extra flight of stairs anyway. Just so long as she got to sit smack bang in the middle of the class again, like she did the previous year.

...

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Another boy had long since taken the seat that Hiroshi had been eyeing up; in fact, it looked like that same boy that Hiroshi laughed at for spraying coffee over himself. Hiroshi hoped to hell this wasn't supposed to be his idea for exacting revenge on her, but now that she thought about it, she was skeptical of the prospect. There was no way the boy could've known that was the seat Hiroshi had been occupying that previous year (even if he cared, which she doubted anyone would), and Hiroshi herself didn't believe in Karma anyway. Furthermore, the boy didn't seem to be all that smug about his choice of seat selection... quite the opposite, actually. It looked as though he was dreading the thought of actually sitting there in the middle of the class.

Why the boy decided he'd sit there, in that case, Hiroshi didn't know. But rather than dwell on what he could have possibly been thinking, Hiroshi instead moved one row behind the boy, and as far to the left as she could possibly seat herself without moving any desks around. After some more deliberating, she opened her school bag and rummaged around for the most expendable thing she could write on. She eventually settled on ripping off a portion a spare page of an old exercise book that she forgot was even in there, and got out a pen.

'We could've easily swapped seats, y'know,' Hiroshi wrote on the segment of paper with a red pen, before balling it up and lightly tossing it in the boy's direction. She projected her throw so it would bounce off the boy's shoulder or something and capture his attention, before slowly rolling to a stop on his desk. Hopefully he'd take that as a cue to unravel this "ball" and read the note inside.
Decided to peg Hiroshi's age back a year.

Also, another CS may or may not be in the works; this time for a male char. (About time I made a man <_<)

"That's adorable...don't worry, we can talk all about it when we're done. I've read plenty of guides on how to make a date go smoothly for research purposes. And, women are tricky. I cannot say for sure, since this outer shell is really only made to look female, but I'll do my best to assist you. For now, yes, the mission takes importance."

"Oh thank goodness," Dimitri breathed a sigh of relief as Auriola added that last bit. Anything to delay talking about how spectacularly he failed with that one night stand, he could appreciate. Right now, though, he too should concentrate on the mission.

Now that he thought, Dimitri did send a swarm of bats to scout out the entire town prior to their conversation; with each one hovering around the outside of each building looking in. Not the most effective way to gain information, but certainly more subtle than homing the entire swarm on just the old library. On top of that, it covered the off-chance that Prelati would not be there at the library any more. Perhaps this time, Dimitri could actually spot the target before...

"Target found." ...perhaps not. The vampire could only shake his head.

"You beat me every time," he stated, before putting on his game face, "Alright, then; let's go."

...

About half-way into their sprint towards the old library, the bat that had previously stationed itself there returned to Dimitri, and perched itself on its shoulder. There, it was able to show him what it had saw; the first thing he noted being Prelati's new body.

"Wait, hold on... I strictly remember Prelati being male," Dimitri said, perplexity evident in his voice, before turning to Auriola, "Was that not what we were informed?"

There was additional, more important information that the bat relayed. Prelati had also managed to amass an army of autonomous suits of armor, all of various sizes. Most were about the size one would expect, but there were also some very small suits, and even one whose size the library was barely able to contain. It was likely Prelati made this army in response to having been discovered, in which case Dimitri and Auriola would be in for a fight the second they got there. Information obtained, Dimitri turned to the bat on his shoulder.

"Go now; contact Ixveria and let her know we've engaged the enemy," he instructed as he ran.

Sure enough, the bat took off, flying back to base.

...

Dimitri and Auriola managed to make it to the old library, and would already be staring down the brigade of armor suits. Hakuryu had also been there already by the looks of it, which as of this moment was probably a good thing; they needed all the help they could get.

"I've got this overbearing one," Dimitri informed the others, "Auriola, Haku, can I trust you two to cover for me?"

A simple nod of the head would've sufficed as an answer, but in any case, the fight was on. Dimitri looked up at the gargantuan suit of armor. He was easily the tallest of the three peerage members that were present, yet this autonomous suit that he was challenging was even able to dwarf him of all people. But he wasn't afraid; after all, the bigger they were, the harder they fell.

Dimitri began by gathering the swarm of bats that he summoned earlier, and having them converge at attack the giant suit's head and shoulder area. Their strikes wouldn't inflict much damage, especially not to a being that size, but it'd be more than enough to serve as a distraction. Then, while the suit would be futilely swatting away at the bats, Dimitri charged straight for one of its legs, and aimed his shoulder and Shadow Blinked just as he was closing in, his body turning corporeal again right when said shoulder would make contact. The idea was that, between his superhuman strength and the sheer speed his body was travelling at through the effects of the Shadow Blink, Dimitri would crash into the suit's leg with enough force to trip it over, where it would be infinitely more vulnerable.

Eventually, Hiroshi was able to contain her laughter, and another student came over to clean up the mess, but the guy that created that mess just wanted to get out of there, promptly paying the guy who helped clean up, telling a nearby waiter that he'd pay for his meal and drove off in a hurry. The exact sound of the engine that was roaring had caught Hiroshi's attention.

"Huh. That sounds just like that Honda I saw earlier," she mused aloud. Either that guy who just left was the actual owner of said Honda, or he was so desperate to make himself scarce that he decided now was the time that would mark the beginning of his criminal career. Of course, both of those scenarios would just as sad as one another, but what could one do?

In any case, it was back to waiting for her coffee to arrive. Personally, she never understood why it would take five minutes or longer to make a single cup of joe, and now she was beginning to understand why Koryusai never went out to get coffee; after all, he always said that if you want it done fast enough, you have to do it yourself. Sure enough, her coffee finally arrive.

"Your coffee, ma'am," said the waiter who'd brought it over, "Sorry for the wait,"

"You're welcome," Hiroshi sarcastically quipped, implying that he was supposed to be thanking her for her patience. Well, at least the coffee didn't actually have that bad of a flavor profile. It was strong for her usual taste, but that's how she ordered it, and she needed it to be strong anyway... if only so she wouldn't outright crash during class. She wondered how long it would take for whatever else she'd ordered to get to her table at this rate... only to roll her eyes when she looked at the time.

"Um... yeah, I'm gonna need something to go, if that's at all possible," Hiroshi stated, "I've got a train to catch,"

With that, she slid her cheque from Koryusai forward, downed her coffee and left, making sure she had everything she needed along the way.

April 2, 5:56am

Hiroshi Oshiro had been up all night, working on trying to old rust-bucket that was supposed to be an SUV up to a condition where Koryusai Oshiro, her older brother, could sell it off as per part of his job. The vast majority of the work that Hiroshi had done to the SUV was on the engine, and that was the most demanding since engines were always the most complicated back in the days that the SUV would've been made. Why Koryusai didn't just get a brand new engine for the cursed thing, Hiroshi didn't know. But she was able to fix it to the best of her ability, and had just been adjusting the suspension when suddenly, oil had leaked from somewhere along the chassis and splashed all over her chest. Thankfully, she was wearing some of her older clothes that she never cared about the exact state of, cause her top would've most certainly been ruined by that sudden oil leak. However, it was enough to catch Hiroshi by surprise... and put her in a foul mood while it was at it.

"Ssssoooon of a bitch!" Hiroshi threw her wrench to one side with all her might, before making one big heaving sigh, "That's it; I'm going to bed,"

"Too late for that," another voice could barely be heard through a yawn, the owner of said voice revealing himself to be a Koryusai that had evidently just been woken up, "You were up all night with that thing?"

"Yep. Apparently it takes that long to fix an engine..." Hiroshi rolled her eyes as she said this.

"Uh-huh. Well, you better get ready for school, now." no doubt it'd be met with yet another great, heaving sigh from Hiroshi. She'd completely forgotten that that was the day she was meant to start school again, and a part of her wished she didn't have to start until another week went by. But there was nothing for it; she could only hope that this dreaded sense of sudden lethargy wouldn't be the end of her...

"Tell ya what; you show me where this diner that you like so much is, and I'll drop you off there and give you some money for a bite to eat," Koryusai offered, "How's that sound?"

"...yeah, sure; I'll take you up on that," Hiroshi replied, before supposing she should get moving.

The first order of business was for Hiroshi to have a quick shower so she could change into her uniform. Even if that oil spill hadn't happened, she was certain the school wouldn't appreciate her wearing anything in such a tacky state.

7:14am

Sure enough, Koryusai and Hiroshi arrived, with Koryusai having driven a Nissan Fairlady Z to get there. While they were parked, Koryusai wrote out a check for Hiroshi, for ¥2500, and handed it over to the student in question.

"Seriously, Koryu? This is your idea of overtime?" queried Hiroshi.

"Hey; it's enough to grab a bite," Koryusai flatly stated, "I never said I'd let you sample the whole menu."

"You really are a cheapskate," Hiroshi quipped, opening the door and getting out, and she was just about to shut it again when she noted a peculiar yellow car all the way at the back of the parking lot, just being able to make out the badge, "Is that a Honda?"

"Yeah, looks like..." replied Koryusai, before looking back to Hiroshi, "Why, what of it?"

"Eh, nothing really. I'm just curious to see if it'd still be there when I leave is all..." Hiroshi stated before finally shutting the door, "Aight, I'll see ya round."

With that, Koryusai drove off, and Hiroshi entered the restaurant.

...

Hiroshi had made herself comfortable for the moment, until eventually a waitress came over to her.

"May I take your order?" asked the waitress.

"Hmm... gimme a cup of the strongest coffee you have." Hiroshi stated, "Black. No su-... actually, maybe one teaspoon of sugar. Small, teaspoon."

With her order placed, Hiroshi quietly observed the goings-on around her. Most notably, a girl had yelled something about finally making it into the school or something, which caught the attention of a bookworm. That bookworm had been scolding at the girl, who didn't really seem to have taken the hint. Hiroshi could only shake her head in disgust at the sad state of the two.

'Nice mothering there, lady,' she was tempted to say to the bookworm, but she figured she'd best stay out of this.

She turned away from them, just in time to see someone else spray canned coffee all over themselves. Having never seen someone fail so spectacularly at opening a can of coffee in her life, Hiroshi couldn't help but giggle snarkily at the poor guy. She usually despised being confronted about the prospect that she might be mocking someone, but that moment was hilarious enough to be worth it.
