After the rage of frustration that escaped from her mouth, all Kana wanted to do now was get to school. To make matters even more ridiculous, another student had sprayed canned coffee all over himself. But after someone gets up to help, she didn't pay much attention to that matter. But then the girl she was scolding completely ignores her words and instead pretends that they're best of friends, which irritated her even more. She picks up the book off the table before saying "Nishikori Kana. Look, just try to be more respectful? Or at least mindful of others." This time the tone of her voice was more tired than anything. She was new to the area and now she just realized what a bad impression she gave off in front of students from the new school she was attending. Not wanting to cause anymore drama, Kana takes her stuff and leaves. School was going to start relatively soon, she might as well get there a little early and check out their tennis courts.

Upon stepping outside she hears the revving of an engine before watching a car speed away.
What's with this town? She thinks to herself. She was making a decent pace toward the school, stopping every now and then to familiarize herself with the area. Midway through her walk she gets a text notification from her cell. It was her best friend back home, Yuumi.

'Hey Kana! Everyone misses you over here ;3;
Tennis club ain't the same without you
Hope your first day is going well. Don't forget to smiiile Queen RBF!
(And let me know if there's any cute boys over there. I might just move up there myself.)
Love ya <3 '
- Your homegirl

Kana sighs at the text. She misses her life in Kyoto, with all her friends and classmates. She couldn't help but try and attempt a smile at the mention of her nickname "Queen RBF".
Kana types out a response, hesitating whether or not to tell Yuumi about the foreign boys from America that she'd fancy. Instead she sends a simple 'love you too'. Kana then reaches over to get a water bottle from her tennis bag. That is, if it was on her.

Realizing in the rush to get out of the resturant, Kana had left her precious tennis bag in the booth.
"Fuuuuuuuuuuu-" Was all she could manage out. Taking a look at the time, she knew that she'd be very much late to school if she turned around and got it now. All she could hope for was the staff setting it to the side and she would stop by later that day.
Hopefully the benevolent tennis goddess, Serena Williams would forgive her for this act of treason.

Family Restaurant, Fukushima City
7:35, April 2nd

Kotone sat in relative silence as she listened to each and every word her new companion had to say. It was clear Kuroko would dominate the conversation, being more energetic to begin with, but Kotone made sure to pay attention while she snacked on her light breakfast. When all the distractions were done and dealt with, Kuroko began rambling off her phone number, offering herself as a person of advice to Kotone.

Initially, Kotone wasn't sure if she should accept Kuroko's offer right out the gate. They had just met, and such close contact between near strangers made Kotone hesitate to write down Kuroko's number in her phone. Still, Kotone promised her father that she would attempt in some way to make friends this year, and despite her beliefs that it would be no different than last year, a solution presented itself.

"Sure, Koumori-san."

Digging her phone back out of her school bag, Kotone pushed a few buttons to input Kuroko's phone number. Taking a second to double-check if the number was saved in the address book, Kotone soon froze in place as she read the time on her phone. Whilst it was only around an hour before school started, Kotone needed to get going or else she wasn't going to make it in time on her first day of school. "I... I have to get going. I'll talk to you later!" Kotone exclaimed, hastily pulling out enough money for the cost of her meal.

Throwing her bag over her shoulder, Kotone nearly speed-walked to her chained up bicycle. Unlocking the chain, Kotone slid the bike lock back into her school bag, and begun to pedal in the direction of Uesugi Senior High. On a normal day, Kotone's thoughts would have been empty, yet which each push of the pedal, her thoughts were buzzing. It was her first day of her first year of high school, and Kotone had likely made a friend for the first time in forever.

A smile graced Kotone's face as she pedaled down a street. It was to be the year of Kotone.

Jonathan Harper&Thomas Dircks

Jon watched the room explode with movement as cans and people blew up. The green haired athletic girl was lecturing what looked like two first years while another kid had his coffee explode. Slightly stunned Jon started laughing out loud and held his stomach. Almost crying, Jon tried to stop laughing, but couldn’t stop himself. Loosening his tie so he could breathe better, Jon finally got some air in his lungs. “Oh my god, that was great. The quiet peace in this room just shattered in half a second.” Brushing any crumbs he had off his uniform he stood up and grabbed his bag. Fixing his tie he grabbed his money and made sure to count it once again. “I wanna go check out the baseball facilities before school starts, wanna come with me?”

Thomas who had been stunned by the sudden outburst of noise in the room just sat there for a mount before beginning to laugh at the whole ordeal. “I swear your bad luck. Everything is fine and then you show up for not even a week and a nice family restaurant turns into a madhouse just by your presence.” He ended by giveing Jon a playful punch in the arm before standing up from the booth and counting his money. Getting the right amount out he walked over towards the counter to pay for his food. “Sure I probably should show you around a bit so you don't get lost and break something.” He said with a grin still somewhat laughing at the whole ordeal and at himself poking fun at his friend. As he made his way to the counter the green haired girl that he had been looking at rushed past him clearly in a bad mood.

Once Thomas paid his bill he looked back at the restaurant that was starting to get back to normal he noticed the green haired girl had left her athletic bag at her seat when she got angry over the noise. Thomas walked over and slung the bag over his shoulder. ‘I'm sure I’ll see her, at the very least I can take it to the office.’ he thought to himself with a smile on his face as he put his sunglasses back on before stepping outside.

Walking down the road Jon watched as cars rolled by, looking for one he liked. Turning to face the houses he began to see other kids in the same uniform as him walking the same direction. “Looks like we aren’t the only ones to not wanna be late.” As they came upon the front of the school Jon began to feel a bit nervous. It was strange to him to be going to school in a different country, especially one so different than from where he was from. Walking through the entrance he looked around with curiosity at the large buildings around him. “Now where is practice held at?”

“Well practice is usually held on the Diamond on the other side of the school but we are in the weight room during the off season or running on the track.” Motioning for his friend to follow Thomas began off towards the sports areas. “Maybe we'll be able to introduce you to the coach or maybe one of the players.” It was nice that just about all the practice areas were right next to each other. He thought to himself as he headed to the baseball area while walking past the tennis courts.

"I... I have to get going. I'll talk to you later!"

Kuroko blinks, watching the brunette quickly leave the table. She sighs, leaning back and running a hand through her golden locks before pushing herself to her feet. An hour until class and still panicked about being late, huh? Yeah... definitely not like her little sister. Kuroko chuckles, pushing in her chair politely and carefully tossing her phone between her hands. Either Kotone was just pretending to type in her number, or she just made a new friend. Either way, it was worth the effort!

...

Most things are.

Kuroko shrugs to herself with a gentle grin, pulling her phone back out again as she walks out the door.

I'm heading to class, sis! (* ^ ω ^)
Good! You better not be late!

I won't be! ( >д<)
Yeah yeah. Send me a picture when you get there!

Okaaaay. I love you! ♡
Love you too, little sis

Kuroko chuckles, pocketing her phone and shaking her head as she slowly strolls to school. She can take her time.

Restaurant | 07:35 | April 2nd

"Please pay my bill for me. Keep the change, thanks, man.."

The stained student thrust the money into Jun’s hand and pushed around him before Jun could even utter another word to the guy. Watching him leave, Jun shook his head. The poor guy. All he wanted was a nice coffee in a nice restaurant and instead he got a ruined morning and a ruined uniform. It didn’t help that a few of the other people in the diner were even laughing at the guy. Not cool. Quite frankly, Jun couldn’t blame the guy for wanting to be literally anywhere else.

He continued to wipe down the coffee until a waitress crossed over and relieved him. He handed her the money then shrugged, telling her to keep the change for the guy’s order. He wouldn’t feel right keeping a stranger’s money. With that taken care of, Jun made a trip to the restroom to wash his hands. Some of the coffee had soaked through the napkins and his now sticky hands were irritating him to no end.

When he returned to Yuuki’s table, the girl was sitting there with a rather dejected expression on her face - one that quickly disappeared once she saw Jun. He raised an eyebrow but she simply shrugged, put her hands together, and said “Itadakmasu!”

He followed her lead, then sipped on his tea as Yuuki enjoyed her meal.

Restaurant | 07:35ish | April 2nd

Yuuki, however, wasn’t enjoying her meal. That’s not to say that the food wasn’t delicious - it was - but she couldn’t shake an unpleasant feeling. Was it...was it guilt? She was thinking about the girl who had just scolded her. Yuuki frowned. Nishikori Kana, eh? She sounded so...tired. It wasn’t Yuuki’s fault, of course! She hadn’t forced her to come over and read Yuuki the riot act! ...but that excuse felt hollow. The girl wasn’t wrong per se. Maybe shouting in a public restaurant at seven in the morning was too much… ugh. No fair! This was supposed to be a good day!

“You’re making weird faces again.” Jun snarked in between sips of his tea.

“Am not!” Yuuki protested indignantly, her mouth full of food causing it come out muffled.

Jun scrunched up his face into a ridiculous caricature of her own thinking expression. “Am not!” he mocked in an exaggerated, high pitched voice that cracked on the second syllable. Yuuki had to cover her mouth with her hands to stifle her laugh and force the food down. It was much more of a struggle than it had any right to be. When it was safe, the laugh came out and Jun chuckled with her.

“You’re such a dork.” she managed to spit out before taking a drink of her own tea to wash everything down.

“True.” he agreed, nodding solemnly before shifting his gaze across the room. “So how’d things go with your ‘NEW’ best friend?”

“Jealous much? We’re going to sing karaoke after school. No boys allowed, so you can come if you want.” she teased, taking a bite out of her toast.

“Sounds good! I’ll even do our makeup this time so we don’t look like clown hookers.” he fired back, unfazed. To be fair, she had not exactly been blessed by the make-up gods and Jun...well, he was like Michelangelo with a powder brush.

“Ouch. Fair, but ouch. she replied. A few moments passed as she enjoyed some of her soup. “I should probably tell her I’m sorry. I feel kind of bad.

Jun stared at her, mouth agape. “Are you sick? Are you dying? As your best friend, you have to tell me if you’re dying. I’m pretty sure that’s a rule.”

Yuuki waved away his dorkiness. “I’m serious! You should have seen her eyes, Jun!” she urged. “Her face and mouth said ‘Fuck off’, but her eyes said ‘Love me.’ Jun...she needs me.”

“Ooooh…” Jun started, dragging out the ohh for emphasis before continuing with what would undoubtably be one of his sarcastic comments. “I see...you’re just insane. Like actually, literally insane. Listen, she needs you to stay far, far away from her.” Jun warned.

“We’re gonna have to work really, really hard to break through her shell.” she muttered, looking off into the distance.

“Yeeeaaah, no. Don’t say we. We means me, and me ain’t doing this.” he protested. Yuuki just grinned and nodded, slowly mouthing the word ‘yeah’. Jun responded by shaking his head and mouthing ‘no’, but the girl knew him better than that. He would whine and whine and refuse to do it...but she would ultimately win. She always did.

A moment of silence passed afterwards, with Jun leaning back in his chair, occasionally checking the clock. Yuuki stared at him intently for a moment before frowning. As he began to open his mouth to say something else, Yuuki interjected.

“Why didn’t you order anything?” she quizzed. Caught off-guard, he raised both an eyebrow and his drink. “To eat, dork.” she clarified, regarding him cautiously.

“I ate before I left.” he replied, to which Yuuki gave him a look that more or less said cut the bullshit. “Seriously. I did. You can ask Granny if you don’t believe me.”

“No, no, I believe you.”

She didn’t believe him, of course, and most assuredly would be asking Granny later. Jun was notoriously bad for skipping meals, but it probably wasn’t a good time or place to push the issue, so she let it drop.

A few more moments of silence passed in which Yuuki more or less finished her meal. She might not be able to walk fast, but she could certainly eat fast. Jun made good on his promise and paid for the meal. She had only been joking about that and insisted on paying, but Jun wouldn’t have it. His treat, apparently. Afterwards, the pair made like a number of the other students and left the restaurant, making their way to school. They would be cutting it closer than the uptight Jun liked - Yuuki could see that on his face - but tough tiddies.

A girl’s gotta eat.

As they walked, Jun leaned over and whispered something.

“Could I borrow a skirt for karaoke night?”

Yuuki chuckled and playfully slugged him on the arm. Maybe it would be a good day after all.

Kurogane Kiichi

[[05:26am]] A slight tune starts playing, it is Kuroganes alarm. A few minutes later it stops as Kurogane gets up and stops the alarm. "A new day, but more importantly a new year of school. I wonder who of the people of last year I'll be with"
He took out his usual school attire from his dresser. A white shirt with a darkblue blouche over it, the normal well kept pants, prepared for later. He was ofcourse the first awake an thus he decided to make himself a nice breakfast and a good lunch. He started baking some eggs and took some bread. He made some sandwiches for his lunch and for his father who has to work. After he is done with that he walks over to his dads room and wakes him. As a responsible youth he tends to have to look after his father cause his mother passed away when he was 11. Kurogane is usually the one doing all the household chores.

Then he leavese for a nice early bike ride in the woods around his place. From a young age Kurogane loved these rides, he could put his mind on it and would just cross through the wilds. Today was a very nice morning, the birds were singing and there was a slight breeze. The calm forest had a very calming influnce. After a while Kurogane returned home took a shower and packed his school stuff.

He took the bike to school as usual, and once at the school building he parked his bike. He was early as usual and just made a slight look around, nothing to special

7:35am

Eventually, Hiroshi was able to contain her laughter, and another student came over to clean up the mess, but the guy that created that mess just wanted to get out of there, promptly paying the guy who helped clean up, telling a nearby waiter that he'd pay for his meal and drove off in a hurry. The exact sound of the engine that was roaring had caught Hiroshi's attention.

"Huh. That sounds just like that Honda I saw earlier," she mused aloud. Either that guy who just left was the actual owner of said Honda, or he was so desperate to make himself scarce that he decided now was the time that would mark the beginning of his criminal career. Of course, both of those scenarios would just as sad as one another, but what could one do?

In any case, it was back to waiting for her coffee to arrive. Personally, she never understood why it would take five minutes or longer to make a single cup of joe, and now she was beginning to understand why Koryusai never went out to get coffee; after all, he always said that if you want it done fast enough, you have to do it yourself. Sure enough, her coffee finally arrive.

"Your coffee, ma'am," said the waiter who'd brought it over, "Sorry for the wait,"

"You're welcome," Hiroshi sarcastically quipped, implying that he was supposed to be thanking her for her patience. Well, at least the coffee didn't actually have that bad of a flavor profile. It was strong for her usual taste, but that's how she ordered it, and she needed it to be strong anyway... if only so she wouldn't outright crash during class. She wondered how long it would take for whatever else she'd ordered to get to her table at this rate... only to roll her eyes when she looked at the time.

"Um... yeah, I'm gonna need something to go, if that's at all possible," Hiroshi stated, "I've got a train to catch,"

With that, she slid her cheque from Koryusai forward, downed her coffee and left, making sure she had everything she needed along the way.

Uesugi High School, Gates
7:30 AM

Aya pressed her foot against the base of the wall that separated the premises of Uesugi High School from the streets of Fukushima. It was still thirty minutes until the school opened its gates and Aya was stuck flipping through her phone as she waited for the new school year to offically begin. She had been sure to be perfectly ready when she arrived, so it was just a matter of waiting and dealing with any of the students that decided it would be a good idea to talk to the sixteen year old girl at seven thirty in the morning. Fortunately for the green-haired girl none of the other students who had arrived early had taken the initiative to bother her so her mood was rather content. As she continued to wait for time to pass and the day to begin she pressed her fingers down on her phone, cycling through the albums she had downloaded to her cellphone, trying to figure out what particular band interested her at the moment. She smiled warmly as she found a record that she hadn’t listened to yet and was in her queue.

For the last two or three years this was Aya’s “ritual”, a choice made to make the first day of the school year something different and something she’d remember for the rest of her teenage years. Perhaps it was a silly thing to celebrate a mundane existence with fresh experience. But Aya, despite being the cool and likeable baseballer that she was at Uesugi High School, she still had her silly moments just the same.

Tennis Courts :|: ~8:00 :|: April 2

Upon finally reaching the school (finally), Kana wishes she had taken a bus or maybe rode a bike. Her mother wasn't certainly going to drive her to school at the state she's in. And her father's job requires him to come in to work early in the morning. Her birthday is in a few days, maybe then she'll ask for a different mode of transportation as a gift. Kana heads straight to the tennis courts, eager to see how Uesugi treats their athletics department.

Upon reaching the courts Kana takes a look around.
The tennis court consisted of 6 courts, with 2 of each different types of surfaces: clay, acrylic, and cement. Kana drops her bag near the fence and walks to each court, bouncing around to get a feel of it.

Kamoi Lee had 8 courts, 6 for main matches and 2 exhibition but I guess this will do. Kana thinks to herself. Nevertheless she was glad that Uesugi treated their athletics department well. After a another few bounces she stops and remembers what this year will be about.
Because of a prior injury that had happened to her last year, she won't be in the same shape she used to be. Still, she wasn't going to let people know about her wrist, especially her opponents who will take advantage of that.

I wonder what the other girls in the club are like. Kana was the tennis captain at Kamoi Lee just in her first year. It made her the youngest captain in school history (usually that position would be occupied by a third year).

Kana spends just a few more minutes at the courts, wishing she had her tennis bag with her so she could practice a few swings.

Uesugi Senior High, Fukushima City
8:00, April 2nd
@Jade113

Pedaling in the direction of the high school, Kotone arrived shortly around the time the school gates were to open.

There were a few students arriving around the same time that Kotone thought she had seen before. In the diner, perhaps? Regardless of who they were, they were gone as soon as Kotone saw them, disappearing somewhere in the direction of the various playing fields and courts that Uesugi Senior High hosted for their sports clubs.

Chaining her bicycle beside an orange-black mountain bike, Kotone approached the school gates. As she walked past, Kotone had noticed a green-haired girl—a different student from the one she had seen in the restaurant—pressing her foot against the school walls, smiling to herself as she drifted off to "musicland." Kotone thought the girl appeared rather pretty, being quite well-dressed, yet she didn't want to be caught staring again. It seemed Kotone had a problem with staring, but hey, at least it led to a new friend.

Entering the high school, Kotone approached her assigned school locker. The locker was small and tiny, only big enough for a a pair of shoes or maybe a love letter in the future. Swapping her outdoor shoes with the school-issued uwabaki, it wasn't long before Kotone headed to where her classroom, 1-A, was located.

Taking her first step inside the classroom, Kotone noticed the classroom was mostly empty. Out of those that arrived early, Kotone didn't see anyone she knew personally. Likely, those already here were from other schools or, if they were from Kotone's previous school, she never had the chance to get to know them. Grabbing a seat, Kotone pulled out her phone in an attempt to kill time before school starts. After staring blindly at the screen, Kotone settled on texting Kuroko, to ensure she had the right phone number written down.

Hello, Koumori-san? It's Kotone. I wanted to make sure I put in your number in correctly.

Thomas Dircks

Thomas was showing John around the facility while they waited for school to start. Thomas was showing him around the different areas and their purpose. “Luckily for us the weight room is much better here than the one back home.” Continuing around the facility Thomas showed Jon some the trophies the team had one in its past years as well as the pictures of the team last year. Pointing at one of the boys towards the middle of the picture he said “That was last years pitcher, he’s already graduated so you arrived just in time.”

Looking around he was holding he could see the coach and maybe see if he could introduce him to Jon. Seeing that the office had the light on he knocked on the door and waited for a answer. Once the coach had opened the door and exchanged greeting he motioned toward Jon and introduced him. As they talked Thomas wondered outside to get some air while he waited for Jon to be done.

As he learned against the wall he closed his eyes for a bit to relax. While he seemed calm and collected he was freaking out on the inside. In all honesty he was worried about what this year would bring. Letting out a sigh Thomas looked up and over towards the tennis courts where he saw that green haired girl from the restaurant. Realizing he still had her bag with him he began walking over to her in order to return the bag. As he walked he thought about what he was gonna say. Man he hated talking to new people. “Maybe if I just smile a bit and give her the bag I won’t make a complete fool of myself."

“Hey, excuse me. You left your bag back at the diner this morning and I figured you would want it back.” Thomas held out the bag with a genuine smile on his face as he waited for her to take the bag.

Uesugi High, Fukushima

If you ignored the tiny car and blue hair, you could almost mistake the speeding blur down Route 70 for his elder brother. Aviator sunglasses, oversized leather jacket with the sleeves pulled back to the elbows, muffled, high-tempo music a passer-by would only be able to hear for a fleeting moment, before the roaring vehicle sped away. Now all Ryunosuke needed to do was park, blast 'Take My Breath Away', and wait for girls to run to his arms. Ah, perhaps he got caught up. Parking will do.

The sound of his Beat zipping around the streets, heading towards the school would be faintly audible over distance, slowly growing louder. Eventually, he eased onto the brakes, shifting down and turning into the lot (thankfully, not enough to drift it around- now that would be a scene). Finding a spot around the middle of the rather small lot, Ryunosuke parked his car, grabbing his bag and locking the doors with the convertible roof up. He plugged his headphones into his own phone, browsing through his music library while silently walking to school, the new beginning of an unspoken ritual. Picking a song, he shoved the device back into his pocket, placing the earbuds in his ears and continuing his wordless stride.

After hastily changing his shoes and throwing his jacket, he eventually made it to his assigned homeroom, 2-C. Quickly darting his eyes around. Ryunosuke makes a mental map of the class, trying to visualize where his seat would likely be. After a couple seconds of deliberation, he comes to the dreadful conclusion that he would probably sit dead in the middle of the class. Curses. Having people look behind your back, having no source of hiding or security (perhaps insecurity to some), and being in the middle of all the chatter and crossfire- what could go wrong?

Rather than continue to grumble in his head endlessly, Ryunosuke opted to clear his mind, sit down, rest his head on his arms, and wait until someone passed by, completely ignoring him. Luckily enough, he had a spare change of clothes at home, but rather than the school-issued blazer that he had splattered brown caffeine over, he had to settle for his brother's jacket which he had put away, leaving him in just a white shirt with a school tie. The sunglasses matched, but he could barely see anything in front of him, so he switched back to his thin, red prescription glasses. Since there was nothing better to do, he sat there, listening away, hoping nobody would notice him as usual.

Mother told me, yes, she told me I'd meet girls like you
She also told me, 'stay away, you'll never know what you'll catch'
Just the other day I heard a soldier falling off some Indonesian junk that's going round

Mommy's alright, daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away...

After talking with the coach Jon went out to the baseball diamond. Grabbing a baseball he took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeves. Walking out to the pitcher's mound he scuffed the dirt around with his shoes. Stepping back he stared at the home plate and pictured a batter there. A small grin came to Jon's lips as he brought the ball up to his chest. Naturally going through the motions he raised his leg and took a deep breath. Exhaling rapidly as he shot the ball towards the plate. With a crash the ball hit the fence behind home plate with rapid speed. Smiling Jon put the ball away and went to go find Tom.

He found him on the tennis court talking to one of the girls from the diner. Letting a grin come to his face he turned around and began to walk towards the classrooms, not wanting to interrupt his friend. Walking around lost for a bit he finally found his class, 2-C, and walked inside. Unsure of where to sit he leaned up against the wall in the back of the room. Closing his eyes and leaning his head back he tried to calm himself down.

Opening his eyes he realized he probably looked awkward standing at the back of the room so he went and sat down. Taking a chair near the back he decided to try and catch up on some sleep.

Kurogane Kiichi

Kurogane arrived at school early and after parking his bike he went around checking some of the other facilities. He had gotten word that he would be in class 2-C which didn't really bother him. After walking around and maybe checking some faces he went over to his classroom. Dressed in what most of the students would call a formal dresscode he stepped into the classroom. Scanning the classroom to see where he would like to sit he saw a empty spot near the window at the front and thus he decided to put down his bag there. He then checked for any familiar faces altough not any sprung to mind.

He then faced the other students. "Goodmorning classmates, My name is Kurogane Kiichi, a pleasure to meet you all. I look forward to be with you all" He said with a slight smile on his face while making a slight bow. He then awaited the responses of the new classmates he had.

Through his head went a lot of thoughts. Is this strange what I just did? I hope this works out? Atleast I tried

Uesugi Senior High - Gates | 08:??ish | April 2nd

The chirping of some rather late-rising birds mixed with the rumbling of cars cruising by made for an odd ensemble, but Yuuki liked it. It was a requiem of winter and an ode to spring. The warm glow of the rising sun cut through the cold morning air and gently hugged the young girl. She couldn’t help but stop and take a deep breath, enjoying the moment. She never was much of a morning person, always loathing the thought of getting out of bed before the sun did, but sometimes it had its perks. This had truly been a beautiful morning. It was a shame that she’d spend most of it cooped up in a building but…

Yuuki was ecstatic. That brief window before classes become routine and one day bleeds into the next was what drove her. There was a great allure to the mystery. Who would her classmates be? Would they get along? Could she find the people that would become her best friends for life? What about love? And how would the teachers be? A wave of nervous excitement toppled over her again. She’d find out soon enough.

Just ahead she could see the school, rising above the ground below like a solemn guardian of knowledge eager to bestow wisdom unto all who entered. Later, she might come to view the building as a prison, where hopes and dreams went to die...but she sincerely hoped that it wouldn’t get that bad.

At the gates, she saw a small group of students standing around having a chat. Catching up on lost time, maybe? Yuuki saw an opportunity. Might as well start the year off right. Surely they had some time to kill? She’d head over and introduce herself, maybe make a friend or two.

At least, that was plan.

But as Yuuki began walking again, passing a confused Jun who had turned around to see why she had stopped, she saw that one of the students had noticed her. Well...noticed her legs anyway. She could tell by the look on his face and the not-so-subtle glances taken by his friends. They shared a laugh then continued on with their conversation. Yuuki hadn’t been close enough to hear what they were laughing about, but it didn’t take a genius to put two and two together. The girl bit her lip and pivoted, now heading onto the school grounds rather than to the little entente. Jun followed close behind and the group erupted into another fit of laughter.

“Hey-HEY!” he called, having to awkwardly speed up to match her gait. “Are you okay?” he asked, concerned.

Yuuki paused. She considered this for a moment before flashing Jun the cheesiest, most phony smile she could manage. “Never better.” she lied. Jun rolled his eyes.

“Bull.” he called. He turned back towards the gate then looked back at Yuuki. “Did-did they say something to you?”

She considered this too, then shook her head. “No. Really, I’m fine! I just...I dunno. Nervous, I guess.” she explained, already cooling down. She had made herself a promise that she wouldn’t let her insecurities control her...easier said than done, obviously. Not even five minutes at the school and she had nearly had a meltdown. That was...kinda pathetic, really.

Easily upset at perceived slights. Projects insecurity onto others. Bah...maybe the doctor had a point? She’d work on it.

Jun was still using his best concerned parent stare, but Yuuki broke his gaze, first taking a few steps forward, then twirling around and walking backwards towards the front door.

“Seriously, Yuuki’s good! Maximum joy!” she cooed, throwing up two thumbs up before twirling back around and heading inside, leaving poor Jun to scratch his head and come to the realization that he’d never understand girls.

Uesugi Senior High - Classroom 1-A | 08:10| April 2nd

Once inside the school, Jun had to take a moment to really appreciate where he was. His old school was...well...nothing compared to this. The facilities outside looked top-of-the-line and well-maintained. His old school? Not so much. To be fair, Jun never was much of a sports guy, so it wasn’t really a big deal, but Uesugi had a good reputation for having good teams. Maybe this was the year he finally changed that?

Probably not, but hey! He could always catch a game or two. Maybe it’d be fun. His main priority, however, was to not flunk out. Honestly, it was sort of a miracle that he had even passed the exam to get into Uesugi in the first place. Academics weren’t his strong point. Nor were athletics. But at least he excelled at...err...uhm…to be decided?

Jun led Yuuki to her locker then headed off to his own. Once the two had changed their shoes, they set out to find their homeroom. It took a little bit, with a couple detours to completely the wrong area, but eventually the pair made it to classroom 1-A. Jun couldn’t help but say a silent prayer, thanking whatever force of the universe it was that allowed them to make it on time. He really didn’t want to start the year off with a delinquent's reputation. So far so good.

A number of students had made their way into the classroom by now, but it still wasn’t full. Apparently some liked to play it closer to the edge than Yuuki. Scary. Jun couldn’t help but scan the faces of the crowd, looking for at least one familiar one. No dice. A small pang of sadness hit the boy’s gut. He hadn’t truly expected anyone from his old school to have come to Uesugi, but...well, he had hoped to be surprised. Not that there was anything wrong with these new ones but...it was sad knowing that he might not see many of them again. Sure, they had agreed to stick together over the break, and they did! For a while...but slowly but surely, everyone began to drift apart. Jun probably could have followed the old crew, most went to a more local high school but...Uesugi was a very good opportunity. One he just couldn’t pass up.

While Jun was daydreaming about his old friends, Yuuki was already devising a way to make some new ones. She pushed by the dreamer and scanned the class for a seat. She found one by a brunette who was a bit preoccupied with her cell phone. Jun followed suit, taking the seat behind her. For a moment, Jun was sure that Yuuki was going to pester the poor girl on the phone, but she apparently decided against it last minute and instead turned around and pestered Jun. About one of their neighbors' cats.

Uesugi :|: ~8:15 :|: April 2 :|: @sly13

Classes were going to start soon and she didn't want to make a bad impression on her first day in a very new school. So Kana heads back to the fence and gathers her things. It was at this time another student approaches her, with Kana's precious tennis bag in hand. She looks up to see that it was one of the foreign American boys from the diner. When he reaches his arm out to hand the bag to her, Kana takes it with much gratitude.

"Thank you so much, I left in a hurry and completely forgot it. You saved me a lot of time." Kana's eyes beam and remembering the words of her friends back home, she gives the other student a slight smile.

"Ah speaking of time, we should probably head to class? My name is Nishikori Kana by the way." She slings both bags over her back and starts to head toward the main school building. While walking she asks him,
"Uh, I'm kind of new here... do you happen to know where class 2-C might be?"

Uesugi High School, Class 1-A
8:00 - 8:10 AM

Class 1-A.

It was a simple enough choice. After all, Matsutoya Nanako was A-Class material. The fifteen year old twin-tailed girl smirked confidently as she took her seat. Nanako wasn’t a girl who liked to be late to things and this being her first day at a new school she made sure to take the initiative to be one of the first students to arrive. Her parents had specifically told her to do her best and make a good impression; Uesugi wasn’t a school for people who didn’t give any less than one-hundred percent and they expected her to do just that and then-some.

But what could she do outside of meet her fellow students and contemplate what kind of club to join?

Nanako took a light, unanxious breath as she pushed her hands together and placed them on the top of her desk as she began looking around as other students began looking for their assigned seat in the classroom. Her eyes looked to one of the many students she didn’t recognize, trying to commit every face to memory.

Uesugi High School, Class 2-C
8:00 - 8:10 AM

Aya took her seat, taking her headphones off and ensuring to stop the music player on her cellphone.

Unlike some more “active” students, Aya wasn’t interested in conversing or engaging with her classmates as everyone got adjusted to being second year students at Uesugi High. It wasn’t that she was unfriendly, but rather that she didn’t really have all that many friends. Aya had made sure to keep up the image of a star athlete that was approachable and friendly; even if the image itself was a little bit of a façade. Besides, it was still only the very first day of school and things like love confessions and anything that really mattered was on a long list of “probably unlikely”.

Aya was fine waiting for everything to get going when one of the students decided to address the class and introduce himself. It was weird, especially considering nothing had called for it and such introductions tended to not be made before class started. The green-haired girl raised a brow as she repeated the boy’s name in her head a few times so she’d remember him for sure; though not remembering the weird boy who introduced himself to everyone before everyone was in class before the day really started was probably going to be difficult.

She broke eye contact from the boy as she began to swipe through her phone, browsing her twitter feed.

Thomas Dircks

@Sazama

“Thats a very lovely name.” Thomas said as they started to walk towards the classrooms. “Im Thomas Dircks by the way.” He added as they continued to walk. "Uh, I'm kind of new here... do you happen to know where class 2-C might be?" “Yeah I can show you where it is. We should be in the same class.” He said finishing with a smile trying to be friendly. He was trying to come off as calm but in truth his heart was racing and his mind was traveling in a hundred different directions trying to think of what to say and do.

As much as he liked being with friends and others he hated this part of that. He felt like he was going to trip on his words or do something to make her angry. “Why am I always like this?” He thought to himself as they continued walking. Realizing he had not really said much since they started walking and he didn't want to give off the impression that he was being rude. Once they entered the main building started pointing out places and things that Kana might need to know for her first year.

“So you play tennis I take it?” he asked her while mentally slapping himself over such a stupid question. “Of course she play tennis you idiot. Why else was she on the tennis court and having a tennis bag.” But instead he just held the expression in his face trying his best not to show what he was thinking. The two of them finally came to the class room where they were both scheduled to have. “Well here is 2-C. Until the teachers gets here you can sit where ever you want.” looking around the class he saw that there was already of few students inside the classroom including his friend Jon which had totally forgot about when he started talking to Kana. Turning back around to her Thomas asked “If you want you welcome to sit with me and my friend Jon while we wait for the teacher. That is if you don't already have friends in this class.” He finished with a sly grin as he was trying to play it cool.

Jonathan Harper

Jon had been enjoying his quick rest when he was jolted awake by someone speaking to the class. Looking around thinking perhaps it was the teacher, Jon tried to look like he was doing something. Coming to the realization it had been another student he watched the kid finish his introduction. As the kid stood there awkwardly Jon began to feel sorry for him. Thinking it over for a second Jon decided he had to help his comrade. Closing his eyes he stood up and took a deep breath. Forcing himself to open his eyes he looked at the other standing student. “Hey, nice to meet you. I'm Jon.”

Sitting back down he really hoped someone would keep the momentum going, otherwise this was going to turn even more awkward. As he was sitting he heard a voice he recognized by the door and saw Tom walk in. Next to him was the tennis girl from the diner. Not wanting to disturb them he turned back towards the front of the class. Wonder what practice is gonna be like?

8:23am

One slow train ride later, Hiroshi was finally at school. She wasn't really in the mood for fannying about this time around, with what having no sleep, nothing eat since she couldn't eat her food on the train for some stupid reason (that being she couldn't procure a seat)... she just wanted to get to class and get it over with. She made her way to Classroom 2C where she was assigned for the year. Which was fine. Hiroshi wasn't expecting to be in the very same classroom this time around, and it saved her from having to walk up one extra flight of stairs anyway. Just so long as she got to sit smack bang in the middle of the class again, like she did the previous year.

...

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Another boy had long since taken the seat that Hiroshi had been eyeing up; in fact, it looked like that same boy that Hiroshi laughed at for spraying coffee over himself. Hiroshi hoped to hell this wasn't supposed to be his idea for exacting revenge on her, but now that she thought about it, she was skeptical of the prospect. There was no way the boy could've known that was the seat Hiroshi had been occupying that previous year (even if he cared, which she doubted anyone would), and Hiroshi herself didn't believe in Karma anyway. Furthermore, the boy didn't seem to be all that smug about his choice of seat selection... quite the opposite, actually. It looked as though he was dreading the thought of actually sitting there in the middle of the class.

Why the boy decided he'd sit there, in that case, Hiroshi didn't know. But rather than dwell on what he could have possibly been thinking, Hiroshi instead moved one row behind the boy, and as far to the left as she could possibly seat herself without moving any desks around. After some more deliberating, she opened her school bag and rummaged around for the most expendable thing she could write on. She eventually settled on ripping off a portion a spare page of an old exercise book that she forgot was even in there, and got out a pen.

'We could've easily swapped seats, y'know,' Hiroshi wrote on the segment of paper with a red pen, before balling it up and lightly tossing it in the boy's direction. She projected her throw so it would bounce off the boy's shoulder or something and capture his attention, before slowly rolling to a stop on his desk. Hopefully he'd take that as a cue to unravel this "ball" and read the note inside.
