Personal Style: Comfort is Owen’s priority, and it certainly shows in the way he dresses. Baggy t-shirts, sunglasses, and shorts at almost all times, with a black, zip-up hoodie for the cooler months and early mornings, and a beanie that he wears whenever he feels like, temperature notwithstanding. He also has a couple of jerseys from when he was younger and played sports, some of which fit, and some of which don’t. For the most part, he only wears the jerseys when he plays basketball with the locals, though he often just plays shirtless.
For shoes, Owen likes sandals, and that’s basically all he wears. In his closet, he has one pair of combat boots, covered in dirt like they were used all the time(though they aren’t, he just hasn’t cleaned them in literally years), and a pair of sneakers for when he decides he wants to wander around the surrounding town. He will only wear one brand of socks, always crew. He has to special order them from the states, but he’s very clear when he says that anything else simply wouldn’t be good enough.
Relaxed * Strong-willed * Less-than Ambitious * Adventurous
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Relationship Status: Single
Personality: Owen has changed a lot over the past few years. Where he was once incredibly driven and ambitious, he’s now relaxed and thankful for the position he already has in life. Events in his life have changed him, and now he’s focused mostly on staying alive and staying happy rather than succeeding and being better than the best. He’s still as focused and strong willed as ever, but for the most part, he likes to take it easy and focus on staying happy. And so far, he’s doing a pretty good job at it. He’s almost always happy, usually always smiling. No worries, that’s his outlook on life.
The only real remnants of his life in the military is the intense physical training he still forces himself to do every morning(he doesn’t want to be totally useless when they inevitably call him), and a ‘one more’ philosophy on challenges. Whenever he finishes a set of lifting weights, or pushes himself to a limit where he feels he can’t go any further, he says it aloud ‘one more.’ And then he does it. Whatever that means; one more rep with weights just a little too heavy, one more mile running. Whatever it takes.
Even with as chill as he is, he can’t shake a feeling of wanderlust that’s seemed to bore it’s way into his bones ever since the incident. He calls it ‘being adventurous,’ but the truth is, Owen is simply running. Running from a past that he knows will catch up to him, running from the nightmares, running from the memories. And he can’t escape; it all always catches up to him. He knows his time in India may very well be cut short, so he spends a lot of his days riding a beat up Honda 650 XRL throughout the streets and whatever wilderness he can find, exploring and seeing whatever there is to see.
When the phone call comes, he won’t want to answer it.

What Brings You To India: Owen came to India after receiving an honorable discharge from MARSOC. He wasn’t sure where he was going to go, and ended up wandering around the world a bit, spending a few months here and there, before finally winding up in the hotel and deciding it was the place he wanted to stay for now. He’s been there almost 2 years and doesn’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
History: Born to a flyboy and an aircraft technician, both members of the Air Force operating on the Osan Air Base in South Korea, Owen was almost
destined for military service from birth. For the first 11 years of his life, he grew up on the Air Base, learning Korean and English simultaneously. At this time, his parents returned to the States, both retired now and Owen had a relatively normal life for the remainder of his childhood. Excellent grades, excellent sports accomplishments, excellent everything. It was no surprise that he was simply destined for greatness no matter what path he chose, but he knew from the year he was sixteen that there was only one path for him: the United States Special Forces. He took the ASVAB at 17, and was promised he could join any section of the war machine that he chose straight out of highschool. His parents couldn’t have been prouder if he’d solved world hunger.
The day after graduation, he was happily shipped off to bootcamp. Again, the same results. Excellent physical fitness tests(warhawk levels), excellent preliminaries(slightly subgenius levels). The super soldier incarnate, Owen hadn’t even decided which branch he would choose, and he was already a hot commodity. Eventually, he made his decision, and he joined the Navy SEALs at the ripe age of 18 years old.
For five years, he served with SEAL teams 1, 4, and 7, participating in and driving the success of many black ops operations(all classified still, even now, of course). Quickly rising through the ranks with a virtual rocket strapped to his back, at age 23 Captain Owen Masters had an excellent track record.
Excellent, but not perfect.
In the one X on his sheet, the one failure, Owen lost his entire team. Naturally, he blamed himself for the failure, and spent many long nights considering suicide among other things, before finally requesting and receiving something that was officially marked down as an Honorable Discharge, and given a few more medals and awards. Both Captain Masters and those in charge know that the discharge given to him is only temporary, and that when he’s really needed, he’s only a phone call away.
Now, Owen spends his days in the hotel, lounging in a hammock he purchased himself, sipping beers, and occasionally smoking a very specific herb. The US military continues to add a monthly officer’s salary to his bank account, and Owen is just waiting.
Dreading the day the old, outdated Nokia phone(that he calls his ‘business phone’) rings and signals his unwanted return to the past he’s tried so hard to forget.
