❖ Brief HistoryBorn and raised in London, England, Lena Oxton always had an excitable and energetic personality. She would challenge her fellow classmates to races and sprints during the mild English summers. It was during her childhood that Lena developed an interest in airplanes, especially the sound barrier, top speed air crafts. Her room in her childhood home was dominated by planes and fast cars, foreshadowing her future job within Overwatch.
Joining Overwatch near it’s prime, Lena, now dawning the call-sign of Tracer, was the youngest person ever in Overwatch’s experimental flight program. She was ecstatic nonetheless. Helping those in need, hanging out with friends, all while flying her childhood dream, who could be more content than Tracer.
Due to her expert piloting skills, Tracer was picked to fly the glorious Slipstream, an almost dangerously fast jet. The woman accepted the job with leaps and bounds, and felt her heart racing while being seated within the jet. As the menacing blue jet ascended into the sky, a painful knot tied in Tracer’s stomach. Something felt... different.
Tracer’s gut turned out to be correct. As her finger lowered onto the button labelled ‘Teleport’ and pressed in, a deafening boom could be heard from around the cabin and high in the sky. The Slipstream’s body crumpled and imploded with a fiery orange explosion that fell ungracefully towards the earth. Tracer, not found among the rubble or ejected outside of the plane, was presumed dead on implosion. Overwatch members alike mourned for their young, lost pilot.
Waking from a comatose-like state, Tracer reappeared new Overwatch’s base after a few agonizing months. Her steps were not heard, and her body flickered in and out of reality. The woman’s body would disappear completely and re associate a few seconds forward or backwards in time, or for more extreme cases, for several days Tracer would not be seen around the base. She was a breathing ghost, out of the grasp of time.
Her mood spiraled downwards, wanting to be over with this constant moving and disappearing. It took an immense toll on Tracer’s mental health. Believing she was a lost cause and would remain a ghastly figure of Overwatch, until a figurative light guided her in the right direction.
A profound scientist in Overwatch’s ranks, Winston, developed a chronal accelerator for Tracer to ground her in the present time. It took weeks of physical training for Lena to learn how to control her own time, allowing the agent freed movement and abilities to rewind her clock. Tracer is forever grateful for Winston. If he had not shown up when he did, the woman might’ve completely have fade into the fabric of time.
❖ Combat Role & Sub-ClassOffense – Rapid-Fire
❖ Abilities❖ Ability 1 – Blink
Blink teleports Tracer a short distance in the direction she's currently moving. This allows Tracer to move unpredictably: she can Blink past an enemy to attack their back, or Blink to the side to dodge an enemy's attacks. Multiple Blinks can be chained back-to-back, allowing Tracer to travel across gaps that normally can't be reached with just her jump.
❖ Ability 2 – Recall
Tracer bounds backward in time, returning her health, ammo and position on the map to precisely where they were a few seconds before.
❖ Primary Fire – Pulse Pistols
Her primary fire rapidly shoots both pistols, dealing heavy damage. These pistols have a large cone of fire and heavy damage drop-off, making them ineffective beyond short range engagements.
❖ Ultimate – Pulse Bomb
When activated, Tracer tosses her bomb forwards a short distance. If it impacts an enemy, it will stick to that enemy. Otherwise, the bomb will stick to the first solid surface it lands on. After a short delay, the bomb explodes, dealing a heavy amount of damage to enemies in a small area around the bomb. Note that this explosion will also damage Tracer. Pulse Bomb is devastating on clustered groups or static defenses like Torbjorn's turret. A common ability combination to safely bomb a target is to use Blink to get in close, toss the bomb on them, and then Recall to get back out of danger.
❖ StrengthsShe is extremely mobile, quick, and makes good hit damages. Her primary fire rapidly shoots both pistols, dealing heavy damage. These pistols have a large cone of fire and heavy damage drop-off, making them ineffective beyond short range engagements.
❖ WeaknessesHer low base Health and lack of regenerating shields means that she must make good use of Blink and Recall to avoid or reverse damage.
