Delta Green: Whispers in the Darkness

I haven't yet tried my hand at this sort of thing (CIA, Espionage mystery thing, not being descriptive..) but I am most definitely interested. I read that you didn't have to be a tier one agent, and I was possibly thinking of playing a female American, ex military, possibly a background in South America, or the middle east, Africa. Drug war related most likely. Not high ranking, but seasoned military field operator of some form or other?

I like to do a good bit of researching so I'm sure I could a good character together.

I also updated the Premise a bit to give everyone a bit more of an opening to run with. A brief description of Guillan and the corruption therein. It can be found in the first post on this board as well as at the very top of the zero post on the IC board.

THE PREMISE

The premise thus far is an ongoing, ever changing, open ended adventure for a group of underachieving, less than par, or just down on their luck thieves that are from a guild or come together through some mishap in the story and embark on adventures set upon them. These characters will all have to deal with some sort of "major flaw" that is unique to each player that will hinder them constantly. My character, for example, is a lush and addict.. These characters seem to have hard time, or are just plain unlucky. A haphazard and motley bunch. They are all underdogs, the underachieving, and will either get their shit together and persevere, or fail in epic proportions.

The story starts off in Guillan is a huge capital and port city, and is the crowned jewel of the Lands of the Nine, and home to the high King. All the subsidiary kingdoms must answer to him as the top authority. Guillan is a grand city, sure.. but it is dense, and dirty, and extremely corrupted. There is a major divide between the rich and the poor which is very disproportioned, and acts very much like great bellows, only fueling the fires. As a massive port city, it is also a great trading hub, and almost anything from even the furthest bits of the Nine's can be found here, if you have the coin for it.

It's crime syndicates are plenty, and range from petty criminals to vast, and infinitely powerful groups. The Black Hands are at the top of it all, and are all but untouchable.. Pirates and cutthroats, scoundrels. All manners of outfits. The streets are constantly soiled robbers and pickpockets, piracy on the trade routes, rape and murder.. even rumors of slaving and human traffickers from the very bowels of the city. Nothing is off limits to those consumed by greed, and everyone seems to have an angle, or a finger in something. Mind you keep your wits about you, or as best you can..

The plot is open ended, and can be entirely driven by the group how it sees fit, through various avenues provided by the extensive environment of the Lands of the Nine. It is a mid-to-low fantasy setting, as in slim on dragons and mythical beasts, but still outside the realms of reality. This RP will also have a success and mod roll system which is entirely optional to use. Mainly comprised of some success rolls and skillset rolls, mods for injuries, etc., but only to augment or direct the flow of your post and the successes of your characters during certain situations and should only be used to add a certain unexpected flair for your characters. The big driving force here is their flaws, which they are constantly having to deal with..

Appearance:

Margarette has extremely beautiful features. Wild black hair that flows in big curls around her face. She has deep green eyes and a smile adorned with dimples that could take a man for all he's worth. Soft and radiant skin, voluptuous curves and a taunt body. Y'Vanna is extremely fit and athletic and fairly tall. She also has a certain grace to her gait and movements, all very calculated, but seamless and effortless in appearance.

Flaws:

Margarette is a lush, and is also known to indulge in a variety of other illicit substances.. It could be said that Mag is passionately wild, and she is a bit reckless, but she was definitely more than skilled or proficient. Her lethality, and her persistence aren't the only things she's been noted for.

Background:

Maggie comes from a port city called Avondy'llac, which is located in the southern most regions of the Lands of the Nine. Her father was a merchant and skiff sailor there in Avondyllac, and he was murdered when she was 17. He was rather keen on gambling and his debts had finally caught up with him, costing his life. She was also taken, kidnapped as means to compensate for the loss and she was used most accordingly. Repeatedly beaten and raped for nearly a full cycle.. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months.. She was eventually incorporated into a brothel under this same racket's thumb and was made to work as a prostitute for the remainder of her days. Having been hardened like a wooden stake by flame, and as sharp as blades that had tasted her flesh, had devised a plot with a wooed client. It was a rushed and hurried affair, but somehow she and her accomplice had managed to pull it off.

She had no home, or no one left to hold her there so she decided to take up with a band of pirating sailor merchants who were a vivid and vibrant bunch. They took her under their sails and mentored her in every possible aspect they could, and they were very honorable by her. She would use these new talents to develop and refine incite her own voracity and would one day plan to use these skills to get her revenge . She soon became quite the duelist, and an avid lover of the sails and seas. She remained with them for the better part of a decade before she was caught and charged with multiple acts of piracy, and was incarcerated and branded, but she managed a hasty escape which has brought her to the area some 3 years prior.

Mag is an opportunist to the fullest extent of the term.. Aye, she may be a mercenary and a thief but she is an honorable one, if there's any to be had amongst the likes. She is very loyal and protective to those she considers close, and often by morality will take up for those who cannot fend for themselves. She is extremely hard on herself, and judgmental to a fault, though she is anything but lenient to those who oppose her. She is extremely smart, and her charisma and charm are devastating. Because of her "pleasant traits & assets" she can be highly manipulative, getting what she wants quite often from the opposite sex, and sometimes even her own. Making any sort of eye contact should be avoided, if at all possible.

@Jarl Coolgruuf Splendid. Feel free to make a character for submission when you have the time. There's a small bit of information in the zero post on this OOC thread about how to set up your character and skill point allotment. If you do not wish to use the roll system you do not have to, but the skillset bit will definitely be used during character creation. Please submit in a hider in this thread (OOC) before moving them to the character roster.

UPDATE:

I've added a set of Campaign dice that can be accessed on the ZERO POST on the IC board for those of you interested in utilizing rolls. Rolls have been made entirely optional and you may choose to use them or not, as often or as sparsely as you see fit. @Kassarock I know you said that you were rather interested in the system so this should give you some ease of access.

@Kassarock Very well done. I love this guy already. I could definitely see him doing a lot of business with Vargas, and could perhaps have some sort of forgery scheme going on between the two of them and the Black Lion Trading Co. that could provide to be somewhat lucrative to both parties involved, so long as though you kept it sparse so that it would go unnoticed by the books. That would give you almost endless ways to procure small amounts of loot, and would at least afford you a spot at the Faded Lantern as one of Vargas' cohorts. Of course this is just a suggestion, and you don't have to use any of that if you don't want to.

The only thing I would possibly change is if you could make the picture size a bit smaller, or crop to portrait size like my character Y'Vanna as I like them left out of the hiders so that the faces of the players are there, along with their current money status and ammo.. Other than that feel free to move him over to the characters list, and you can begin posting whenever you like. Take your time with your own agenda, as all of the players will eventually cross paths and form a group, but this does not in any way need to be rushed, and collaboration between players is encouraged.

Fantastic job.

As for your starting cash ( since you said you liked the roll system) just hit a d100 to determine your current currency.
