(I couldn't decide on a fair cooldown for my artifact...little help?)

America 2225

.::It's the year 2225 and America has become a hellhole. Due to a massive spike in national criminal activity many years ago, the prison system had become extremely overcrowded. The financial burden of keeping up the prisons was so heavy on the government that a number of the nation's largest corporations had decided to step in and acquire nearly all of the prisons in the country as assets. Though the prisons were now privately owned, that did nothing about the surplus of inmates.

A few of the more eccentric owners saw a unique opportunity for a bold and exciting endeavor. The idea was for a contest held for inmates to win their freedom. And so, in 2150, the Absolution Wars were born. Every five years, fifty inmates are selected by lottery to participate in the Wars. Entry is eligible to lifers and death row inmates -- both male and female -- who have served at least ten years in confinement.

Participants in the Wars are given a small team to build a mech for a battle to the death on a massive deserted island. The last surviving person wins total amnesty and a home on Redemption Row, a private and secure archipelago owned by the sponsoring corporation where liberated inmates can live out the rest of their lives outside of confinement::.

Reaper Island

.::Reaper Island's specific location is undisclosed to the public for obvious reasons. At around 70 square kilometers, the island is quite large. The island was once inhabited before the corporations bought it and evacuated the population. The structures were left intact and over the years have fallen victim to the destruction of the Wars. New structures are built for each Wars (mostly for looks). Among these are supply stations equipped with fuel and ammo for the mechs and food for the competitors. The island is also surrounded by a massive impregnable electric forcefield to prevent both escape and entry::.

Redemption Row

.::A remote archipelago that most people would kill to live in...but that's kind of the point, isn't it? The winners of the Absolution Wars reside here in semi-freedom. They are each under a contract with one of several companies as indentured employees. They are free to do and own whatever they please but are not permitted to leave the Row::.

Characters/Mechs

The Absolution Wars are open to both male and female inmates of all ages.

Background (a few paragraphs about personal history both before and during confinement)

There are three mech configurations and three battle classes. The configurations are Bipedal, Quadrupedal, and Vehicular while the classes are Omega (Tank - heavy armor, slow movement, brute force), Delta (Speed - light armor and weapons, quick attacks, possible stealth), and Gamma (Power - versatile weapon systems, mid armor and speed, lots of utility)

Each mech is allowed a special ability which can be of one of the following types:
Enhance (amplifies mech or weapon for a short period)
Disable (impairs enemy for a short period)
Blast (large explosive ability that does a ton of damage at once)
Transform (changes the form of mech)
Shield (increases defenses for a short period)

The RP is aimed at being rather dark, twisted, and intense...feel free to ask anything
*bump*
Definitely a WIP, but I wanted to get this up to show progress

Currently at work on my CS...so excited!
@CaptainSully
So how do stats and status effects work in-game? Can you get poisoned or sick? Do the characters sustain realistic damage or is everything sort of superficial? And if it is realistic, does it last until it's fixed?

For instance, let's say someone is shot in the leg with a bullet. Would they (a) only take damage to their leg which would hinder their ability to walk until it's fixed or (b) take overall damage to some overall HP?
I'm definitely interested, but I'm already committed to a lot of RPs right now so I might not have time. But I'll be watching this progress and if I can I'd like to join!

I've been there! It'll be open for a while so if you end up jumping on board, you're more than welcome!

How much can a person be legally be bionic or robot?

Any bionics, cybernetics, or robotics are fair game at long as it makes sense. The tech in this world is pretty advanced so a few bionic body parts are perfectly plausible.
As a side note, I should mention that there aren't any hard limits on tech, so use your imagination. If I feel like it doesn't fit into the setting, I'll let you know.
They look like normal humans just with violet eyes. Some Noetics wear contacts to change their eye color to hide the fact that they have abilities.
I figured someone might ask :)

And the answer is no, unfortunately...Aetherians only copy the appearance even though a Noetic's abilities are a part of his/her DNA. Also, Aetherians copy the current appearance, so the form doesn't age. They can slightly alter the appearance (hair/eye color, skin tone, etc.) but that's about it.
