This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.
My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.
No problem. Although, after looking at the roller, I got a question: Can you do the rolls in like a series of tens, like they do in Exalted? I feel like there's a chance to potentially Nat One when someone using - say, for instance - a power 100 attack, and it shouldn't do just one to a potentially weaker opponent. If possible to do it with a series of d10s, you'd roll at least a better minimum damage if you rolled horribly.
All attacks do a guaranteed 20% damage. So if you're attack was a 40 power, worst case scenario, if your roll is under 8, you're attack will still do 8 damage. I'm thinking of other methods as well, but a series of D10s isn't the way... Once we get into much higher power levels, it will become awkward.
And I would like to see one more post from each of you before I post again. Maybe your characters can meet, or maybe not. Then we'll move on to the final round of the preliminaries.
So I'll let you finish the battle between Niko and Anthony, because I'm sure there would be more to Niko's attack than one sweeping kick (unless you think that kick would send him for a flip, land him on his neck, and knock him out or something... which is entirely possible). So I'll let you add on to a longer combo move, or describe the damage of that one kick better.
Also, you can control Anthony's moves too, if you don't think the few hits I described would account for the 19 damage his attack caused.
Anthony's Attack = 19 (roleplayerguild.com/rolls/17220) Eclipse's Attack = 21 (roleplayerguild.com/rolls/17221) Notes: * Eclipse takes 4 recoil damage from his attack and 19 damage from Anthony's attack. He has 77 Health left. * Anthony takes 2 recoil damage from his attack and 21 damage from Eclipse's attack. He has 0 Health left.
Anthony's heart skipped a beat as his opponent stepped forward, but his resolve hardened just before Anthony made his move. Watching carefully, Anthony was able to anticipate Niko's attack. Of course he would go for my legs. He thought.
Still, seeing it coming, and being fast enough to react are two different things. All Anthony could manage to do was step forward, dip low, and land a few hits on his opponent's upper thigh and abdomen. Unfortunately, this did very little to slow down his opponent's kick...
Ivan's Attack = 14 (roleplayerguild.com/rolls/17218) Angel's Attack = 10 (roleplayerguild.com/rolls/17219) Notes: * Angela takes 3 recoil damage from her attack and 14 damage from Ivan's attack. She has 83 Health left. * Ivan takes 2 recoil damage from his attack and 10 damage from Angela's attack. He has 8 Health left.
Ivan landed on the ground with a thud, clearly caught off guard by Angel's powerful kick. She did it with such grace and ease. His vision was blurry, he could taste blood, and fragments of teeth swam around in his mouth. To his left, the referee had stepped between them, one hand held out to signal the young woman to pause.
"Do you wish to continue?" The man in black and white stripes asked. Ivan could barely make out his words through the ringing in his ears, but he got the point. Even from his siting position, the girl wasn't that much taller than him. Where did she get that much power? He wondered to himself. Then he noticed something. The blow he landed on her jaw, he could barely see any damage at all from it. Sure, some people were slower to bruise than others, but that hit would have broken the jaw of any other person he'd ever fought before, perhaps even snapped their neck. His decision was easy.
After spitting out a mouthful of blood, the large man hung his head and spoke softly. "No. There is no point. I see now."
Niko's next opponent stood across from him, a man wearing a boxer's uniform (minus the gloves). He must have been proud of his boxing prowess when he decided to come to this competition, but now his confidence was wavering.
He glanced over at an adjacent ring, just as a large Russian man hit the concrete floor with an audible thud. His opponent was a small wiry looking girl. He would not have expected that out of her. He then turned his attention back to his opponent. This young man had taken down his last opponent with one attack. Actually, "took down" would be putting it easy. He had nearly killed the man.
"Fight!" Screamed the referee, as a bell rang in time with his announcement.
Taking a nervous gulp. The boxer known as Anthony stepped forward slowly, cautiously. He would have to give it all he had, and watch out for his opponent's grappling maneuvers. Chin tucked, hands up, he inched closer and closer into striking distance.
Anthony's Stats Health: 20 Base Power: 20 Attack Power: 20
@Balthazar007 Will that work for a post? I don't want to seem like I'm controlling the scene too much
I literally just saw your post. It looked good to me. It would be too much if you were going against another player controlled character, but not against me. All good. I'll role dice and post again tomorrow.
@FalloutJack and I'll also address your last post in my next post.
@Darkmoon Angel So the way battles work, is that you have your Health (which lowers as you fight), your Base Power (which usually stays the same and is equal to your character's full health), and your Attacking Power.
Your Attack Power is the key here. For now we're learning the basics, which is that any time you attack, you can use up to or less than your Base Power to attack. The thing is, you will automatically take damage equal to 10% of your Attack Power used. So right now, Ivan the Russian is already going to loose 2 health points.
In your response post, you will decide how strong your attack will be. You can do anything from 10 to 100 (in multiples of 10 to make the math easier). Then, I will roll two dice equal to our characters' Attack Power (doing at LEAST 40% of your Attack Power in damage to your opponent). EDIT: Upped guaranteed damage to 40%
If that doesn't sound easy to understand, don't worry about it. Just pick a number between 10 and 100 (divisible by 10) and watch what happens.
The preliminaries were going fast. It was now apparent that talk of more people being invited to compete in this tournament didn't exactly mean higher quality fighters. But after the first round of the preliminaries the massive crowd was now cut in half, making it much easier to breath in this giant room.
After the medics used their high speed healing technologies on the injured victors, it was time to continue.
@Darkmoon Angel "Hello little girl." Said the large Russian man as he stepped up onto the stage, opposite of Angela. "I saw you fight. It was good. But you will loose now." The man gave off an intimidating aura as he slowly and confidently raised his fists in front of his face. It was clear by his stance. He was a grappler of some kind, and a good one at that.
The bell rang, and he began walking forward. "You will get no mercy from me little girl." He said from behind the cover of his fists.
You can go ahead and make your opening posts. In your opening posts, I want you to show us what's going on inside their heads. Your post can start whenever you like and end with defeating your first opponent in the preliminaries, with ease I would assume.
Then you'll both have to beat a stronger (but still "easy") opponent controlled by myself. Then we'll time skip to your last preliminary battle, also against a character controlled by myself. Then we'll move on to the next day.
Once we move on to the next day, if we have more people wanting to join this RP, they will be able to join at that time.
