Exactly. You should reply with "I'm very interested, let's move this over to skype ;)" Anything less and it shows you're not fully committed.

I've read too many Isekai game-like novels. So I'm always spamming crappy jokes with the hope that with time my Humor Skill will level up and I'll start spitting good ones.

The only thing I'm "sad" about is that the way my life is going, it's going to be a hellride with a disappointing and unfulfilling end. My road is set ahead of me and I feel powerless to achieve what I desire or even have peace of mind. Time is taken from me whilst my by the day depleting will for change and something better is draining away with it.-Someone actually wrote that.

He didn't even register what the other wisp said to him, anger already boiling up inside him. Why was his hatred so persistent? As a verse dictates "Do to others as you would have them do to you.". He had done a number of things in his life so he shouldn't be surprised if a similar string of bad events happen to him but even as he understood this his anger couldn't be quelled.

He caught a glimpse of the fairy approaching from afar. After looking at each other the fairy seemed to have come to a realization and it started to charge at him.

"Don't screw with me you humanoid flea.(Curse Word I)"

To him, it looked like the whole purpose of those creatures was to make fun of humans. Small humanoid things with insect wings? Always flying around playfully? A complete mockery and abomination.

Charging up his projectile he thought about the time when he charged 2 of them and still couldn't manage to hurt a single monster. Primitive weaponry with no technological boost to make it viable. Maybe if he concentrated the spherical projectile and shaped it like a bullet. But would the shape affect the velocity or the piercing capabilities of the energy projectile? Maybe if he could crystallize it, like the crystals spread all throughout the cave, then maybe...but that would also require to give it a spin to stabilize the bullet. And that would also need to adjust his aiming accordingly in long range shots but the insect wasn't too far away for that to matter anyway.

Putting all these thoughts into his attack, he fired what he hoped to be something resembling a bullet.

Meh, sounds good. never liked music about love, connections or human emotions like that. That's why I prefer instrumental music or foreign music which I can't understand. Words just ruin it for me. But the beat is good though. 6.7/10

He saw the approaching wisp was carrying a healing herb, one just like what he consumed not a few minutes ago. Was it trying to help? Taking a closer look the wisp looked familiar. It is said that people recognize members of their own race better than others and maybe it was instinct but the identity of the wisp suddenly became clear. It was the one with the rats. As anger started boiling inside him again, he managed to suppress it enough not to attack him instantly. And as his anger rose the dark marks across his skin began to move around. They had gotten bigger than last time.

Why would it bring healing herbs if it was chasing him to finish the job? Maybe it was a deception or maybe it was just carrying it to heal during a fight. Surprisingly he didn't feel any intense hatred for the wisp, not like he felt for that rat anyway.

Maybe it was because they shared the same race, now and before, or maybe because he focused his hatred and blamed the rats rather then every monster. Just as you can't blame every human if one of them stabs you.

"Don't worry, I have a healing herb for you."

Oh? Now was it trying to help? Not when he actually needed it? He might as well be bluffing and waiting for Lorek to drop his guard yet again.

"Now you want to help? Staying silent and witnessing an act of cannibalism from a fellow human while doing nothing and NOW you come here pretending to offer help?"
He might've just been afraid. Many cowards aren't used to violence and their response is either fleeing or freezing. But that didn't make him any less of a coward, given that he wasn't pretending and waiting for an opening to finish him off.
"If you value your life turn around now and go back where you came from."

This was a mistake, he should just kill him now. But if he killed an innocent human again, what was the purpose of this second life then? If he could live with indiscriminately killing others, why even kill himself in the first place? All that he left behind would mean nothing if he just gave in to his anger.

"If you were really planning to help, just leave the herb and go on your own path. Maybe find another group of humans willing to help you. If you go back to those vermin you won't last long before turning to their next meal. Entering the body of monsters doesn't mean you have to turn into a monster. One of them has already done so."

Anger began to emanate from him as he said the last part. Monster, big filthy rats is what they are and he would kill them if it was the last thing he did. If not for revenge, then simply for the sake of others. Before losing himself in hatred again he said one last thing to the other wisp.

"And remember, we were all handpicked by a demon to come here."

What was this? A vegetation that he hadn't seen before? Could his luck finally be at a turning point? Unless it was poison but that would just be his luck keeping a straight direction in a highway. He was getting weaker by the minute so he didn't have the benefit of the doubt. With no help from anyone, if this wasn't it then...

After consuming it he could feel a tingle on his wounded area. All the pain vanished, the bleeding stopped and he felt invigorated?!?!?!
The things in this world are amazing.

Checking around once more to see if anyone was following or trying to ambush him, if no one was around he would find a target to test his power against. He felt weak when attacking the lizard with 2 of his shots but one attack from the rat almost killed him. That was a problem he needed to correct ASAP.

Your experiences have granted you a new skill!
Skill Gain: Curse Word I
The simplest form of curse, using your words to focus all of your malice upon a target. By channeling your power through these words you obtain a true “curse,” causing your opponent to take slightly more damage from a single attack that hits them afterward.
System:Lorek

Another notification? Same as before. If all it took to gain a skill was to curse loudly then maybe he should pray for a miracle to heal him. He couldn't do that, he had already renounced God and all the goodness of His Kingdom by killing himself. Fuck.

Looking back at the lizards to prepare to dodge another of their attacks he saw that their attention was now focused at the rats. Good, I hope they get scarred by that fight. The easier it will be for me to track them later on.
He refused to even think of the possibility of them dying before he got his hands on them.

Safe. No one was chasing him and attacks couldn't reach him. There was no cover around for anyone to ambush him. No no, he wasn't safe at all he thought with a grimace, bearing the pain. He could feel the blood exiting from the wound, leaving a long snaky trail along his body as it dripped in the lake below. He needed to find something to fix this, but what would be the equivalent of a medical kit in this world? Here they had crystals which served as batteries, ammunition and there were greens that served as food and nutrition but what about healing? He tried to eat some wherever he found them but to no avail. But judging from the already discovered items he concluded that it would be something he could consume. But was it another mineral or a herb? Most likely a herb as articles like that were also present in his world. But what kind of herb was it? What did it look like? Where to find it? Should he just try to consume everything? What if he consumed a poisonous variety? Another pulse of pain almost made him fall in the water below. Whatever he had to do, he should do it now. Judging from the bleeding and the ever decreasing pain he didn't have much time.

And so he set out to find a healing herb.
I vote for Calle.

The story reminded me of one of those children's tales which aim to teach a moral or lesson. I completely missed the lesson unless it was that "There is no fucking golden fish and life is meaningless, be the first to turn back and don't try so hard." or to simply be prepared when you go to do something so you don't end up like that fisherman who reached the end but achieved nothing. Cringe.

To be honest, this story impacted me so much that I decided to follow the first fisherman's example and turn back after the first part of the trip.
As the globes of poison passed by him he could almost smell the toxic fumes. Looking back at the rats, all huddled up together, it felt just so easy to kill them. It would have been easy to do so if he had his gun but instead he had this fragile body with weak offensive capabilities. Fuck, fuck, FUCK! She had really pulled a number on him. It wouldn't be a lie to say he was feeling lightheaded but the usage of that word was probably rendered null on this new body. He was simply feeling light. Given he was light as he missed a portion of his body now. Just looking at him, the bite sized missing flesh which ruined his perfectly shaped round form would make anyone wince in discomfort, anyone human that is.

Even though the wisp looked like it was suffering a terrible pain, he barely felt it. Something else more dominating had taken its place.
Rhythmic pulses of anger and rage made his innards seethe. That fire was hotter than any pain he was currently experiencing. The feeling of being back stabbed, betrayed and left to bleed out. In a world of monsters, to finally find humans who were in the same situation as you, someone would feel relived, instinctively gathering together. But to have this misconception take a bite out of him, when he thought that a former human would be the last thing to perform such an animalistic action in this world of monsters.
There is a reason why Treachery is said to be the 9th circle of hell as depicted in the Divine Comedy.

The other thing that was almost driving him mad with anger was the fact that he was eaten, consumed by something else. For someone who had never been on the receiving hand of such action, for someone who had always been on the giving end of pain and death, he had never felt like this before. For all his talks of redemption and finally killing himself, this was on a whole new level.
To actually be taken something from you, for someone to actually STEAL a part of you, treating you like prey, like cattle...

They were all previously human he thought, they were all in this situation together, in a foreign land trying to survive against common enemies. How naive of him, who had seen the worst of humanity, been a part of it. It was funny actually. The reason he chose this creature, a wisp, is because it was the closest thing to being pure in his eyes. A literal spirit, a new beginning, a chance to be reborn and be forgiven his past crimes. And so, by trying to overlook his past he had also overlooked each of their pasts'. All those humans trapped in monstrous bodies, he had forgiven them as he had forgiven himself.
But to begin with, what type of humans would the Devil himself choose as his champions if among them he was also chosen?

He had been too careless. This whole thing felt like a dream. A floating glowing fur ball that shoots orbs of magic? Which can absorb crystals to replenish energy? He had been half asleep this whole time. The pain gave him a wake up call. This was all very real and very painful. Even the time when a bullet pierced straight through his shoulder couldn't compare to this, to this feeling of being eaten, consumed.

"WRETCHED VERMIN"
- the wisp yelled with whatever voice it had from wherever it came from as the rat ripped a chunk of flesh from his body. The shock almost made him drop his crystals but his mental fortitude and pain tolerance inherent from his other life were higher than that of the average person. That pain didn't make him black out or freeze in place unable to do anything. Turning around ,while a crystal in his grasp vanished, ready to attack he stopped once he gave a quick glance to his surroundings...
The situation was that he was surrounded by monsters. Each and every one of them. Humans? Don't make him laugh. Look at those filthy diseased looking rats with their stained teeth and mouths. Their mouths stained with blood, his blood...
Even before his mind decided, his body had already taken the initiative to make a hasty retreat as soon as the flesh and blood disconnected from his body.

As the lizards attacked him, throwing poison like it was spit, he made to dodge the projectiles while running. The poison globes had a visible arched trajectory which he would try to read and to dodge accordingly. He dashed off keeping a balanced distance between the group he just left and the attacking lizards as he only looked but for a moment towards the path that he would take before turning to look back and keep track of both groups of enemies. His only hope was to make it to the lake. Unlike other creatures which had to swim to traverse water, wisps simply floated above it. From there, even if hostiles were still chasing him, they would be significantly slowed giving him room to create a large enough distance in order to safely retreat. The only problem would be the ranged attackers, specifically the lizards.

As he was about to make another comment he caught a fanged lizard in his sights, trying to run away from them. Was it an enemy spy? Was it going back to report to its goblin overlord? He doubts that the ruler of this cave, if there was any, would appreciate another group of people usurping his power. If somehow this ruler got wind of their little rag tag group of ex-humans and decided that their presence was unwanted...well nothing good could come of that.

Lorek rushed between the group and got 2 crystals to replenish his mana and if one still remained unspent he would keep it as a backup battery. Maybe if he was a cop he would've told the creature to stop or might've considered the possibility of it also being from Earth and just running away out of fear and out of the ridiculousness of the situation. But alas, he was just a soldier and he would be twice damned if he also screwed this second life. Seeing the monster scurry away like that, he took but a moment to discern its movement speed, trajectory and distance, with years of practise behind his aim, to gather all the energy within him and shoot a mana ball aimed at the thing.
