@Silver Carrot Looks awesome, classic babyface. I've made a slight adjustment to the CS template to include the wrestler's age, so once your sheet has been updated with the changes you can post it in the Chars tab.
@Deadlyrose9641@JamesMuddy I realize your sheets are still works in progress, just be sure to stick to the same format as the template so we have some consistency. Also for the "gimmick" section, try to add in some more details, a few more sentences explaining the wrestler's character.
Global Pro Wrestling, GPW, was originally founded as a regional wrestling promotion based in northeastern United States. Throughout the 1960s and 70s the company rose to the top of the professional wrestling landscape, centering it's business around the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City. Under the leadership of promoter Jack Flanagan Jr., who inherited the company from his father, the territory rapidly grew in popularity. Flanagan aimed to expand the promotion's reach, and began to cross the wrestling industry's sacred territorial boundaries, competing with wrestling promotions in other markets.
At the time, the New York territory was still a member of the World Wrestling Alliance, a committee comprised of the top promoters from around the world, recognizing a single World Champion that traveled between the territories defending his title. By encroaching on neighboring territories, GPW had violated the terms and conditions of World Wrestling Alliance membership. This could not have come at a worse time, as the WWA World Heavyweight Title was scheduled to be defended in Madison Square Garden against New York's top contender. The Championship match would end in controversial fashion, ultimately leading to Global Pro Wrestling's seccession from the WWA and recognition of their own World Heavyweight Champion.
In 1985, Jack Flangan Jr. plans to fully transform GPW from a regional wrestling company to a national sports entertainment juggernaut. Next month, he will take a major step towards this goal with Global Pro Wreslting's first nationally televised event, in prime time! "GPW Showdown Saturday Night" live on NBC! Flanagan has scoured to world to find the absolute best wrestling talent available, and brought them in to Global Pro Wrestling. In order to realize his dream, Showdown Saturday Night MUST be a success.
Jack Flanagan has offered you a golden opportunity, an opportunity to make history, an opportunity to revolutionize the wrestling industry, an opportunity to garner national television exposure and compete against the very best in the business...
Welcome to Global Pro Wrestling!
STRUCTURE OF THE RP
This is old-fashioned RASSLIN' RP, set in the golden era of professional wrestling, the 1980s. The RP would be built around an 80s wrestling territory, Global Pro Wrestling, stepping up to the national stage, with the players as the stars of the promotion. The advantage of the 1980s time period is not only that it's awesome, it also allows for a more RP-friendly structure. 80s wrestling relied less on action-packed 2-hour episodes of weekly television, making big angles and matches more rare. So our focus in this RP will be on the major television specials and pay-per-view events.
The RP will follow a simple format:
1. I will give a run down of the card here in the OOC section, listing all the matches and segments, along with the finishes. In the case of major SWERVES I will PM the relevant parties involved, in order to maintain some secrecy. You'll also always be able to see the lineup for the current show in the top post of the IC section.
2. After the card is announced, players can then go off to work on their match/segment and post it in the IC section.
3. Once all the segments for the show are done, I'll compile them together into a single post. The completed show. The show will be added to the archive, again located in the top post of the IC section.
CHARACTER SHEETS
The CS template is provided below, post your completed CS here first for approval before moving it to the Characters tab. Please stick to the format provided by the CS template. If you wish to play as a dedicated tag team you can complete a single CS for the team and treat the team as one character.
WRESTLER'S NAME IN DIALOGUE COLOUR
Height | Weight | Age
Name:
Hometown:
Alignment: Babyface or heel. There is no such thing as a tweener.
Gimmick: Are you an arrogant womanizer? A beer-swilling, foul-mouthed, S.O.B? A mysterious master of mind games? Give a description of your basic character and personality. Remember that the RP begins in 1985, so keep the tropes of 80s pro wrestling in mind while developing your gimmick.
Entrance Music: Post a link.
Wrestling Style: Are you a powerhouse? A high-flier? A wrestling technician?
Finishing Move: Only have one or two.
Signature Moves: - Armbar - Armbar - Armbar The main shit you will do in amatch. Feel free to list anywhere from 5-10 signature moves. Any more than that is redundant, it's not about having a fancy repertoire, it's about telling a story. Again, keep in mind the setting. A 450 splash probably isn't appropriate in 1985.
Gimmick: The Sexcellence of Sexecution. The Sexiest There Is, Sexiest There Was, and Sexiest There Ever Will Be... Sexton P.S. (Purely Sex) Love is the epitome of a sleazy, womanizing, heel. An over-the-top, larger-than-life personality and ego. Inspired by Superstar Billy Graham, Macho Man Randy Savage, The Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol, and of course Ravishing Rick Rude. Sexton Love wants the title on his waist and the camera on his face darlin', because SEX SELLS.
Wrestling Style: Despite the flashy tights and flashy women, the Lovely One's in-ring style is anything but flashy. A true student of the game, Sexton Love has developed into a highly respected ring general, working an old school heel style. During a match, Sexton spends as much time focused on the women at ringside as he does on his opponent.
Just wanted to see how many people on here would be interested in being part of an old-fashioned RASSLIN' RP, set in the golden era of professional wrestling, the 1980s. The RP would be built around an 80s wrestling territory stepping up to the national stage, with the players as the stars of the promotion.
The advantage of the 1980s time period is not only that it's awesome, it also allows for a more RP-friendly structure. 80s wrestling relied less on action-packed 2-hour episodes of weekly television, making big angles and matches more rare. So our focus in the RP would be on the major television specials (like Saturday Night's Main Event or Clash of the Champions), and pay-per-view events.
Before each major event I will give a run down of the card in the OOC section, listing all the matches and segments, along with the finishes. Players can then go off and work on their match/segment and post it in the IC. Once all the segments for the show are done, I'll compile them together in a single post. The completed show.
So let me know if you're interested, and feel free to post some ideas for gimmicks/characters here. I'll have the CS template when the official RP thread is made. If you want, you can probably have a couple of different characters, just to help pad out the roster.
Hey so just wondering what the status/timetable for this RP is right now. Because there was a new match posted a few days ago, but the OOC thread has been dead for a month.
I want to say R.I.P, but it seems like there are a few people willing to try and keep this alive.
