"I wonder why they had the gate closed," Liam thought out loud. Isn't that kind of sabotaging the trainers?"
"That's the point," Said a voice from around the corner as three Yell Grunts came around the corner.
"Why did you let these losers into our town lady!?" spat one of them. "I guess we will have to have a little chat." He started approaching the Joy, but Liam got in front of her. He wore a glare that he hadn't worn since he dealt with Erik, the poacher who had abused Smaug back when he was a Charmander, as well as Smaug's now deceased mother.
"I will not let you lay a finger on her." His glare eventually made the Grunt back down.
"What are you three doing?!" said a voice as Marnie walked up. "Leave them alone!" The Grunts looked distraught and walked away.
"Thanks," Liam said.

The door opened to a Joy there with her trademark smile. Liam walked up and the two shared a brief hug. She explained that she had a Rotom hack the door open, but they had to hurry before someone noticed.

"Hold on, I have an idea." Liam said he pulled out his Rotomphone and a little notebook that said "Galar" on it with a medical cross. He flipped to a particular page and punched in a set number. It rang twice before hold music started playing*. After a moment, Nurse Joy appeared on the screen.
"Hello Liam, how have you been?"
"I'm fine, Aunty. Listen, I know you're probably busy and I'm sorry to bother you, but my friends and I are hear to challenge the gym, and I was wondering if you knew how we could get in since the gate is down."
"Oh, that will be simple enough. I can leave Teresa in Indeedee on charge of the Pokemon Center for a moment while I come help. I'll be there soon." With that the phonecall ended.

sadly, Jen's words of encouragement went unheard by the person she was talking too as they had already ran too far away and would have been unable to hear them over the sobbing anyhow.

Liam also felt bad for the kid, but there wasn't much he could do. They just had to deal with getting into Cerchester for the next badge. Liam noticed the gate was down on the town. "Reminds me of Po Town in Alola, Liam commented." He saw Marnie sneaking through nearby grass and silently pointed her out to his friends.

"The Aether Foundation are the most knowledgebale on the Ultra Beasts, I trust that they will know the best way to deal with it." Liam said. His Rotomphone chirped informing him of a nearby particiapent in the World Coronation. It was a young boy who was hopelessly wandering around, looking for the entrance to Spikemouth. He saw that his Rotomphone was indicating toward Liam and pressed "Accept" without looking at the name or picture on his phone. He then sent out a Galarian Lineoon before realizing who he was facing. Liam sent out Beckham who once the battle started, oneshot the opposing Pokemon, pushing Liam up to 101. The kid ran away in tears over his blunder as he saw his number plumit to the mid 500's.

A random idea popped into Liam's head. "You guys think Stern is going to be another situation like the Joys and the Jennys?" Liam asked. He disembarked the boat where Jenny anchored the boat to let the heroes off. She saluted the heroes as they disembarked.

"You have a call from Lusamine. You have a call from Lusamine." Liam's Rotomphone chirped. Liam pressed the button to accept the call. Lusamine and Lillie appeared on the screen, both wearing heavy winter coats.

"Alola, Champion Coleman," Lusamine said with a smile.
"Alola Lusamine, Lillie," Liam said in reply. "Is something wrong?"
"On the contrary," Lusamine said. "We were calling with good news. As you may recall, my kids and I went to try and find my husband, we found in the Crown Tundra!"
"That's great!" Liam said. "Now you guys get to be one big happy family."
Lusamine's Rotomphone pivoted to show Gladdeon with his father. A Zoroark hugging the dad a something that made Liam do a Double Take: A Shiny Nhilego. Lisamine then explained the story of how they found Mohn before wishing the heroes luck and hung up.

"That is great news," Liam said.

Liam thanked her as well, recalling his Pokemon, and having Sherlock teleport back to where it was. Jenny mentioned she could at least get them to the gate. As Liam climbed in, he looked back at the truck Finizen was loaded into. "I hope it will get back home safely,"

One lone pirate managed to avoid the combo attack and grabbed Beckham, ready to use him for a bargaining chip, Beckham kicked the guy in the gut, making him drop the rabbit Pokemon. Beckham began to glow with the white light that signaled evolution, becoming a Cinderace. He then used Pyro Ball to knock the pirate onto the ship with the rest of his crew as various Jennys pulled up, alongside other officers. The Poachers were handcuffed, and the Jennies saluted the heroes, thanking them for the help. A coast guard named "Stern" approached the heroes and asked the heroes to get the Finizen into a tank of warm water so it could be taken back to Paldea.
Liam instructed Sherlock to do such. Finizen came over to the edge of the tank and gave Liam and Sherlock a look of gratitude. Liam gave Finizen a few Orren Berries.
"Here you go, Take care Finizen." Liam said. Stern loaded the tank onto his speeder boat, and promised Liam that he'd get Finizen to a Joy to patch him up before heading back to Paldea.
One Jenny offered a lift to the heroes to the next town while the others were dealing with the pirates.
