I mean Billy has magic…

Yep, there is no limit on how many magic-users there can be on the team XD. I urge everyone to make the character you want and not worry about what other characters already have similar powersets. The characters are a random group of teenage Traveler Candidates who were rounded up by the Sentinels, and I doubt they made it a point to only put different power types in the same vessel. I'm not going to be anywhere near as strict as I was in past RPs, the most important thing is to just have fun XD.

I think the point is more that as it comes to assembling an Avengers team, a child of Hulk and Captain Marvel, who is also learning magic fills multiple roles. It doesn’t really leave much open for others.

Ah, you make a good point there, I hadn't thought of that angle. I didn't actually list their powers in that intro post, but Kid Hulk won't be like some demigod or anything like that :). He is quite strong, but nowhere near that of his father. He only Hulks-Out slightly to keep his powers under control, similar to going Super Saiyan. He gained energy absorption and projection from his mother, in a manner not unlike DBZ/DBS. When he Hulks-Out, he generates a green aura, and manipulates green energy.

Despite being trained by Doctor Strange, his use of magic is actually very limited. I'll put more info in his bio, but most of the Avengers - including his parents - died during his universe's Infinity War when he was a toddler. He received a fatal wound from flying debris, and his nanny, a Skrull sorceress, was forced to use her DNA to fuel a blood magic healing spell to save him. Eventually that will give him some shapeshifting capabilities, but those have not surfaced yet and won't for some time.

He went to train with Strange primarily to learn how to control the energy within him, and since most of the other Avengers were dead, there weren't a lot of other people to teach him. He learned how to solidify the energy into blasts, balls, strings, and basic shapes like that, as well as unleash it in larger waves. Again, very similar to DBZ/DBS, lol. Most of his training consisted of meditation and visualizing the flow of energy inside himself, as well as physical movements derived from various martial arts. Any use of actual Sorcery is limited to a few intelligence-based techniques, such as defending his mind from psychic invaders, detecting magic, seeing through magical illusions, etc. Though, like his father, he does need to be mindful of his anger at all times, otherwise he could end up like Broly, lol.

Loki will have use of magic, but he only recently became aware of his true origins, so it will be limited to casting illusions and cryomancy from his Frost Giant physiology. America's powers in the beginning are primarily centered on her ability to open portals, both to other universes and within the same one she currently inhabits at any given time. However, Teddy will eventually pass onto her the same teachings Strange passed onto him to help expand her powerset to include enhanced strength, flight, and starbursts.

And I would also say to anyone else reading this, please don't worry about "roles" in regards to various powersets. There are plenty of superhero teams that have multiple characters with similar powers, just create the character you want XD. This is less about how we all fit into combat and more about us collectively telling an awesome story together. I will make sure to throw out plenty of baddies during any combat sequences so that everyone has a plethora of enemies to fight.

On an unrelated, and more positive note:

I present Eugene Bloodstone. Son of a Peter Parker and an Elsa Bloodstone variant. He was raised by his mother to be a monster Hunter to survive in a harsh universe overrun by creatures of the night.

Sounds awesome!
sounds interesting, count me in! i have a few ideas i'm thinking on—would you prefer us to create wholly original characters, or create successors to existing marvel characters, like you have with loki and kid hulk?

Welcome aboard! You can make OCs or rework existing Marvel characters, whatever works for you.

I want to be interested in this... but you have basically an entire RP's worth of plot written out already, as well as six characters. I feel like you're probably better off writing fanfiction at this point.

I really only detailed the opening story arc and the ultimate conclusion we're headed towards, everything inbetween is open. As stated in the original post, I haven't set anything in stone between the intro and the conclusion. Since the RP is based around Secret Wars, it's only fitting that we eventually aim for Battleworld and a final confrontation with the Beyonder, but how we get there will be determined by everyone as a group as we play XD.

And I'm not sure where you're getting "six characters" from, I am using Doctor Strange as a mentor/NPC and then I have three main ones - America is central to the plot, and then I have Kid Hulk as my hero and Loki as my villain, though the latter is nowhere near as villainous as his other counterparts.

If you were interested, what characters would you want to play?

Idea at a glance:

The story centers around a group of teenage heroes and villains who have been kidnapped from different universes by forces loyal to the Beyonder, an extra-dimensional entity who is hunting for someone known as the Cosmic Traveler. This person is said to have the power to cross the Multiverse without a Quantum Shift Drive, and it is theorized that the Beyonder must seek to use this ability to reach some location he can’t get to otherwise.

The Cosmic Traveler has unknowingly left behind remnants of their Traveler Aura upon people they were in close contact with, marked as Traveler Candidates by the Beyonder. Furthermore, when the Traveler first manifested their powers, it sent ripples through the Spacetime Continuum, an event which was detected by the Beyonder. Through this, he was able to deduce it was a young child tampering with the barriers between universes, and once he finally managed to gain corporeal form years later, he concluded the Traveler must now be in their late teens.

A variant of Ultron and his assimilated Sentinels loyal to the Beyonder have been commanded to seek out Candidates across the Multiverse within the specified age group (teenagers 15-19). They are captured and placed in cryogenic stasis aboard various prison ships made from the remnants of dead Celestials until an Inquisitor can perform a Soulgaze upon the Candidates.

Traveler Candidates who are discovered but fall outside the designated age group - or those who have been Soulgazed and shown to NOT be the Cosmic Traveler - are no longer considered Candidates and are sent to a place called Battleworld. Here, they are forced to participate in constant warfare while drones absorb Life Energy shed during the conflicts, which the Beyonder requires to maintain physical form in the Material Plane. It is theorized that the location he seeks has the key to attaining a permanent corporeal body.

A deeper dive:

So, to start, our teenage characters are aboard the Arishem-Exar (one of the prison ships made from remnants of dead Celestials), and they are released from cryogenic stasis to be ushered before one of the Beyonder's Inquisitors, who is arriving shortly. Then a variant of Doctor Strange (similar to Defender Strange from Multiverse of Madness) breaks into the ship and frees them, and they flee on a modified Quinjet equipped with a Quantum Shift Drive.

Strange explains the full scope of the situation to the confused teens, who only remember being pursued and captured by Sentinels before everything went dark. They hop to a distant universe and hide on a Dungeons & Dragons-like fantasy version of Earth, as the potent magical energies in the atmosphere will help mask their Traveler Auras. Unbeknownst to most of them, however, the actual Cosmic Traveler - America Chavez - is among their group. She suppressed her Aura to match the other Candidates when she was captured, and was hoping to fool the Inquisitor as well. She holds a deep-seeded guilt for everything her existence has wrought, but is terrified to reveal her true identity. For simplicity's sake, we'll say people were only touched by her Aura when she was younger, before she learned to properly control her powers. Thus, it's been a considerable amount of time since our characters encountered her, and at first glance they likely won't recognize some random girl they passed by a few years ago.

Doctor Strange discovers the truth relatively quickly and reveals it to our characters, and they pledge to defend America until the Beyonder can be defeated. They embark on a number of quests on this fantasy Earth to gather magical artifacts that can cloak their Auras off-world, with the ultimate goal of sneaking onto Battleworld. But, of course, events rarely go according to plan.

I’m not planning a rock-solid narrative for what happens, but rather going with the flow and seeing where it takes us. The road to Battleworld will be a long one, with many stops along the way. Once the characters have arrived there, the RP will enter its endgame, with a definitive conclusion following the final confrontation with the Beyonder. If there is interest and we’re still having fun, we could prolong the RP beyond the Secret Wars saga, but I don’t want to think about anything beyond it until we get close to the end.

I’d love to hear your ideas!

Characters Claimed

Doctor Strange: Played by me, as an NPC of sorts. He is pulled into the conflict when his apprentice is kidnapped by the Sentinels.

Teddy Altman/Kid Hulk: Played by me, a variant who is the son of Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers and received Skrull DNA from a blood magic healing spell when he was a toddler. His powers first appeared when he was 13, causing his skin, hair, and eyes to turn permanently green (similar to Beast Boy from Young Justice). He went to train with Doctor Strange, becoming his apprentice in the hopes of learning to control his powers. Upon pestering his mentor, he was given a glamour ring to look normal again when desired.

America Chavez: Played by me, very similar to her MCU counterpart.

Loki Laufeyson: Played by me, a teenage variant who aged like a human and thought he was one until very recently, when his sealed powers were released for the first time. He was raised in London but kept his birth name.

Wiccan: Played by Crimson Flame, details and images not yet solidified.

Speed: Played by Crimson Flame, details and images not yet solidified.

(Will update roster as new people join)

We’ll use colors for various character dialogues, with Khaki designated for all NPCs, including Doctor Strange. I'm claiming LimeGreen for Teddy, LightSteelBlue for America, and YellowGreen for Loki.
Okay, this will be my final post in this thread. Here is the link to the fanfic, right now only the first chapter is up, and it's mostly a revised edition of my intro post from the RP.

Figured I'd share my new logo here. I will post one final time to share the link to the fanfic once it's live, and then after that the thread will be closed, as Winds stated.

Okay everyone, I've added Winds as Co-GM, and I will also link my fanfic here once it goes live at the end of the month so that you guys can pull from it for story inspiration if you'd like. I've also given Winds permission to continue using my logo, as I am creating an updated one for the fanfic, which will be re-titled to Dragon Charge, and will feature the Energems as shards of the Zeo Crystal. In the fanfic, I am also re-envisioning the origins of Zordon and Bandora, instead having them be former citizens of Atlantis 10,000 years ago. Because the Dark Void exists on Earth and causes corruption issues when in close proximity to the Zeo Crystal, the Atlanteans decided to move the Zeo Crystal to Phaedos while relocating their civilization to the planet Eltar to escape the lingering Taint of the Dark Void.

Zordon, Bandora, and a handful of others remained behind to keep the Void Monsters at bay using the Energems. The gems were deliberately weakened to prevent any Void Corruption from spreading back to the Zeo Crystal, and in the end, they sacrificed themselves to chuck Bandora into the Void and seal it shut. Zordon's consciousness existed within his ship's AI, and he gathered the fallen Energems and hid the ship underground. Then, 10,000 years later, the teens discover the ship as they did in the RP and it unfolds from there.

To start, there will be only four teens present - Andros, Karone, Tommy, and Shelby. After Karone is taken over by Bandora, the other three - with Miss Morgan on comms in the Command Center - will be the only heroes in the first story arc. Karone takes the unbound Energems and tries to corrupt them, and at the end of the arc, a universal bonding process is triggered in which the unbound gems scatter out like Dragon Balls to find hosts. Thus, the second arc will be the heroes traveling the world looking for these new Rangers.
Alright, so it looks like everyone is good to continue. Captain, I will step in and keep the story going. Everyone, I will need your help to make sure it continues to be a fun experience for all. With that being said, do you guys feel like we should open a slot or two up for new players now, or get our four continued in? Captain, do you want your characters to be NPC or how do you want that to go?

You can keep them as NPCs or adopt them as your own characters, it's your call. Alternatively, to give you guys more room, Bandora could kidnap Tommy and Shelby after taking control of Karone's body, but it's up to you. Then you could kill off my characters at a future time to create drama for the story. I had also been toying with the idea of having Andros return home from college to try and save his sister, and orchestrating this large subplot wherein he tries to purge the Red Nanosuit of Bandora and then bonds with it himself, but a shard of her essence remains, and ultimately he blows himself up to take her out, but then the Dai Shi are able to summon the remnants of Bandora's soul and grant her a new physical body that looks something like Maleficent's evil form with dragon horns and a tail. Feel free to adapt all or part of any of that if you wish.
Does anyone want to continue? If so I will do my best with your help to keep this running.

You have my blessing :). Once I am finishing transferring my data (whatever I don't already have stored in Google Docs), I'll pass along GM permissions to you. I'm still going to be heavily immersed in this new Power Ranger continuity I've created, but my focus will be a fanfiction series that is completely separate from the RP. I'm going to post in on Archive Of Our Own later this month, once I've completed a few chapters.
Well, my idea in the "timeskip" was that it covered more ground to give you all a chance to have more to reply to. If it then required my characters to reply further to something that happened earlier, I could retroactively do so in my subsequent post, such as what I did with Tommy responding to Helia bossing around Bulk and Skull even though the story had already moved to the cafe. But I understand how having the sequence of events be slightly non-linear like that can be confusing as hell, since after all, this isn't a Tarantino RP LOL.

That being said, I think I desire too much control over the narrative to continue GMing this story. One of you needs to take over as GM, but I will share what I had planned for the overarching tale and you can pull what you want from it:

Shortly after finding the ship, Bandora takes over Karone and makes her presence known, creates an army of Putties from clay in the rocks and walls of the cave to fight the Rangers, and hijack's the ship's transporter to teleport to an undisclosed location. Once the Putties are defeated, the Rangers ultimately return back to the surface, but Zordon has them teleport back to the ship multiple times for Ranger Training over the following weeks while he is trying to scan for Bandora.

Meanwhile, Karone is seen in a shady hotel in Tokyo, and it becomes clear she and Bandora have been fighting for control of her body. The evil witch has been all over Japan, seeking out various Yakuza bosses, looking for someone in particular, whom she finally finds in Shinjuku. It goes something like this:

"Let me see your boss. Now."
"You need an appointment, little girly, hahaha."
"He's expecting me, but... I'm about four centuries late. Just take me to Zeddomaru-sama, tell him it's Bandora..."

Yes, Zeddomaru is my version of Lord Zedd, a centuries-old samurai who turned to blood magic and bonded with a Void Dragon during the Mongol invasion of Japan. In modern times, he sits on the council of a global crime syndicate with seven other Heads, each one bonded with their own Void Dragon. This group is the Dai Shi.

The story would have had the Rangers fight Bandora and her four generals, before Zeddomaru steps in himself, and then eventually, all eight Heads of the Dai Shi. But then similar to how Joker shows up at the Mob meeting in the Dark Knight, Ivan Ooze forces the Dai Shi to go on the defensive. This leads to the journey to the planet Phaedos to attain greater powers by bonding directly with the Zeo Mother Crystal, which is guarded within the Whitestone Citadel.

I hadn't yet developed the overarching narrative much beyond that, but I had hoped we could use your Venjix idea to be a back-door into a Machine Empire arc.

Feel free to use what you like from that, but I do feel it's best for us all if I step aside.
