"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." ~Ephesians 6:12

Superheroes. The term evokes images of superhumans in caped costumes, battling against criminals and monsters to save the world. But, not all of the world's inhabitants are so distinctly placed on the ends of the moral spectrum. After all, one person's hero may be another's villain, and vice versa, while some may rest between the two extremes. All that can be said with certainty is that they are something more than human, and they are now real.

Why now? That is a mystery for another time. For now, the world must come to terms with the existence of superpowers, as daunting a task that may be. Will the masses cower before the mighty? Will they rise up to contain them? Will they try to convince them to work on their behalves? Will they lavish them with praises and curses, depending on their actions and notorieties? Of course they will, as people can be awfully predictable.

However, if you think this is a story where good triumphs over evil, you are sorely mistaken.
Rules
1. Have fun.
2. Whatever I say goes.
3. Do not be a douche.
4. Keep your smut private.
5. If you ghost on the roleplay, you will be kicked, and your characters will become NPCs. This does not apply to players held up by inactive players, those that give ample warning of inactivity, or those that experience real world events that prevent them from roleplaying. Should you be unable to roleplay for whatever reason, your characters will temporarily become NPCs.

@Classy I guess I should ask what kind of tone you are going for and what the average power level is; I know you said "anything goes", but what's the base line for how strong characters should be?

I am not aiming for any particular tone or average power level. Campy or serious, Black Widow or Superman, it makes little difference to me. I will simply build the plots to suit your characters.
I'm interesting in this. Is there an expectation that we will play heroes, or at least morally good characters, or would we be able to play villains as well?

I will allow characters that may typically be defined as villains, antiheros, and so on.
Very much interested, I was the last time.

Question, if we submitted a CS before or were in the prior version, can we resubmit our CSes? Asking since I can't recall if I ever finished mine for this.

Also glad to see you back, so sorry to hear about all that happened to you.

It would probably be better to wait until the OOC thread is up.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words.
Idea is promising but I'd like more info. What's the setting? What's the plot? Is it just gonna be made up as it goes along or are there prompts for the characters? Is it merely going to be a superpowered game of fortnite or are the characters motivations and backstories going to impact the starting prompt

The setting will be a large city in the United States of America, with the exact location to be determined.

The plot will be a combination of player character decisions, consequences to said decisions, background events, and events that will require agreement from specific players to develop. The world as a whole will be coming to terms with the existence of superpowers, which will result in various crises that are specifically unrelated to superpowers, and the varied reactions of NPCs will partially be shaped by what your characters do. Multiple plot lines may develop, such as the adoration, assassination, registration, and/or vilification of superhumans, among other things.
I'd love to play. Are there any guidelines on powers and the like, or is it sort of "anything goes?"

Anything goes, within reasonable limits. I should also note that making incredibly powerful characters will increase the likelihood that there will be one or more NPCs able and willing to take them on.

@Virani Our characters got their powers at the start of the roleplay. The roleplay can be set anywhere in the world, and Amanda Holder is currently in Los Angeles.
I'm interested.
