"Uh?" While Thomas was struggling with the wheel, he was unknowingly released from the sticky situation he was put in. Before turning around, he could smell the gentle scent of rose, as this person was really close to the wheelchair. He thought initially to be a female, but the voice was a little weird. It was the type of voice that a normal male adolescence would be experiencing, as he goes from high-pitch to low-toned. And without much thoughts, he turned around, to see a...gentleman?
It really looked like he was wearing men's clothing. No, it was actually neutral gendered. But his facial feature was somewhat...erratic. Not that Thomas is a master at studying human biological features or anything, but he had rarely seen a face like that. His hair was fluffy indeed. Flamboyant would be the first word that sprang to his mind whenever a reference about this guy was needed. But hey, he helped Thomas, so he ought to give him the thanks.
"My goodness. Thank you..."
That's the problem.
What is the gender of this person before him? First impression was very likely a he, but what if he was wrong, and ended up hurting the guy's feeling. He knew that transgender can be quite sensitive, even though it is no longer a deviance like we used to see it. But he didn't want to address him as bluntly as just a 'thank you'.
"...mister?"
In the end, he decided to go with the more likely scenario, and hoped he wasn't wrong.
Strange. Aurelia had in contact with many people like him, but something about him really piqued her curiosity. But the question of how she felt so, and why, was unexplainable. His face, his expression expressed a hidden depth that was worth a thousand words. It was as if beneath that goatee and tough facial features were a story to be told, to be unraveled with great intrigues, or sorrow...
Her gaze was met with a playful wink. She was taken a little aback with the response though that she was stranger to these things. She, in fact, had met a handful of men who approached with the flirty attitude.
But in the end, he did not have much to do with her. The girl took one last glance at Sparks before turning to the principal.
”Ok, Mr Hisakawa. This is gonna be informations that I would not want anyone to know at the moment.” She had a nod of agreement with her other friends and comrades before making the statement. ”The students were targeted by a certain underworld hero killer clan, known by the name of the Shadow Clan.”
Mr.Hisakawa simply nodded signaling for her to continue with the briefing. “I see”, could it be that they’ve made their move on Takeshi and michiko already?
”It wasn’t a single villain, but a couple of them. We faced three, I don’t know if there is anymore.” She said. ”They are highly skilled in every aspects, both with their shadow quirks and physical prowess, with one able to create wolves and other living creatures. The other could use shadows like his limbs, or even weapons.” She turned to her brother, knowing that he also witnessed it.
”Yeah, it’s true. He can use his shadowy made tentacles to do various things. Hurl stuff around and even use it in conjunction with his sword.”
”The guy’s dead though.” Aurelia continued, as the other three was in shock for the statement. ”He committed a suicidal attack. I was alright, but that guy...if it weren’t for the help of this particular woman, he may have died for real. The other two left the scene shortly after we and another small group of heroes arrived.”
“I’ve encountered them before personally, it’s in your best interest not to pursue this group unless your well prepared. They’re an SSS ranked threat, highly trained assassins and to be honest. I’m surprised none of our guys died. The only explanation for that is they must’ve have had specific orders preventing them from going on a massacre.”
Mr.Hisakawa placed his hand to his chin before looking back towards the room in which Reina was inside. “Each member is essentially a one man army, what they lack in quantity they make up in quality of the clansmen they produce. As you all are now, it would be unwise to pursue them currently, especially you Acion.” He specifically pointed out Acion being the only one who wasn’t licensed out of the group
The name call made the one in question a little hard to answer. The boy glanced away as his sister replied.
”You’re right. But we’re the Sky Knights. We’ll have to face them at one point or another. I’m not completely certain but not many hero groups are familiar with these groups. So we’ll most likely have to be at the forefront of this. But not at the moment.” Then, she turned to her brother. ”As for him, I did not really expect a fight on his day of volunteering. But if there’s anything, I’d take responsibility for him. He did make a wise decision that helped us in the fight.”
”Oh, and you remember that moment when this guy was grabbing that girl, Kaida, away.” The dragon-spirit Sky Knight added.
”Ah, that. They seemed intent on taking the silver-haired girl, I remember her name being Kaida Beaumont, away, declaring that she would be under clan protection. And there is this guy who had pretty much the same type of quirk as them, but fought for us. They seemed determined to kill this guy.”
”You mean-”
”About that girl too.” His brother’s words were cut short as Aurelia turned to her friend, Dragunov. ”Is it true that she is your nemesis? Or the daughter of your nemesis? If that so, then we may figure out why she is under the clan’s protection instead of being targeted”
The girl being asked clutched her forehead with her two fingers, ”I’m not entirely sure myself.” thus made Aurelia in a confusion. ”I heard the name is Beaumont, so I have had my suspicion. My assertion at that time serves to allow the guys to attack undetected. In truth, I’m really intrigued to find out.”
Wait what?
’Kaida has that sort of background?’
Acion was the only one not available when that detail was being displayed. Her parents were villains? How was that even possible? She looked so nice and delicate. It must have been some sort of misunderstanding or some sort of complicated circumstances. That kindness and gentleness couldn’t be linked with a background like that. But like Forte said, she wasn’t sure. And he too wasn’t.
He placed his hand on his chin as he tried to ept into the background, but was discreetly waiting for the principal’s answer to this great question in his mind.
Hisakawa was more than knowledgeable about all the information that the 4 was attempting to piece together. Kaida being the child of that French tyrant as well as Takeshi and michiko being apart of the shadow clan. He couldn’t tell his underlings just yet as they wouldn’t understand why we had decided to let them attend Komei. Though his eyes widened a bit at the thought that they’d declare her under the clans protection. Why exactly would they want Kaida? They have all the money they’d ever want so they’re wouldn’t be a point in kidnapping the girl. The group a large amount of prestige to go with that money, the last possible explanation is power.
But it didn’t make sense to him at the moment to kidnap her for power? He broke out of his deep thought as Forte asked if that was her nemesis.
“There is still not enough information left to create a concrete reasoning left. We have a lot of theories yet too little definites. Our best bet is to wait until all of the students recover from their injuries and questioning them before we take further action”
”Yeah. I second it.”
”But-” Forte tried to make her protest but Aurelia placed her hand on her shoulder as she looked into her eyes
”I know you’re very dedicated to your clan, but you can’t be hasty here. They had just been victimized, so it’s best not to do anything at the moment.”
”We’ll put the Shadow Clan matter on hold for now and focus on different threats in this city.” The psychic sighed dejectedly. ”I feel like we’re gonna be alone in this fight against them. The hero groups are having it too easy because the city has been too peaceful.”
”I have that same fear too. And it’s not going to be just a fight.” Aurelia added. ”It’s going to be a war...”
When the statement was given, the stakes suddenly got a lot higher. Especially for someone like Acion, who would be inevitably be involved one way or another. There was no way out. He could bail out, but it would just be a shameful thing. Knowing evil out there but did not take any actions against them would just be a nursery for them. But knowing that even his sister, a powerful pro hero was even outclassed by them, he knew he had a tremendous task to do.
That afternoon was just a glimpse of his future that he had chosen for himself. It wasn’t just any fairy tales he imagined for himself. This was the big league. Everyday would be an uphill battle that had to be taken with complete seriousness. His goals, thoughts and dedications had been changed abruptly swiftly.
”Anyway, that is everything that went on in that afternoon. Everything important at least. For the record, I think I should stay here. To see if the police has anything to say, and also to see how these people are faring.” Aurelia said, as all four of them nodded in agreement.
”If you guys want to, you can go h-” The Sky Defender suddenly noticed someone approaching her. A person whom she knew very well back in those days she was in Komei. Everybody knew her. The former supervillain who now serves for the cause of justice. Well, at least for her cause but it aligns with justice well. Reactions were positive, as they all respected the former teacher, though one of the Knights may still be poking at her stigma. But nevertheless, she was a welcomed and expected guest.
”No problem Miss. It’s a duty that had to be done.”
Following her was the sturdy man from before.
”Thank you, sir, though I think you should leave that to someone else. Another group of hero that was also there. One of whom saved his life when he was critical, and now he is still under treatment I think. You can ask directly if you’re more concerned.” Aurelia replied with a smile. In fact, she may just go and ask right now if nothing was up. He did, after all, saved her life.
”I’m fine for the day miss. They should be fine too, physically at least. But mentally...well, I don’t know.” Acion said as he made his appearance known to Mako.
The pride of the Jot's technological advancement, Jotunheim is a ring-shaped installation designed and built to maintain the lives of over one billion citizens. The history of the ring dates over a hundred years ago, on the planet of Selo. The planet was among the most resourceful planet in the, at the time, newly formed Neutral Rim. Civilizations thrived under the gentle hand of mother nature. But among one of the greatest betrayals in the universe, the kids, the descendants of the generations who thrived on those planet, turned to send the entire planet into ruins and desolation. Jealous of each other's power and privilege (natural resources), while remaining ignorant to their own, the different nations on that world went on a long series of total war, against their own kind, their own brothers who thousands of years ago might have been brothers or sisters. It initially started as a small feud, but then spiraled out due to the above mentioned reason, from what may seemed to be able to be resolved in days, lasted nine years, claiming billions of lives. And by the time, there were no signs of ceasing, with billions more at their mercy.
At one point in the war, working for one of the superpowers at the time was an independent agency, tasked with development of civilian space program, as well as aeronautics research, but were converted into a weapon development department. The company was operated by scientists, engineers and professors, but was ran by an outside CEO, the workers in the corporation were also utterly sick at the president of the company for agreeing to sign up for an ignoble cause. They were employed to work for the cause of human development, not extermination. The motto 'for a brighter tomorrow' is not being followed. After some worker on strikes that didn't deter the leader's mind, the agency workers prepared for a coup de tat. Or in this case a complete declaration of independence from the nations of Selo, forming into a new nation themselves, ran by scientists, professors and intellectuals, working only for the common good. Disguised under a project of a weapon of mass destruction, Jotunheim was the result of these bonds, slipping silently through the eyes of the governing elites.
Jotunheim is a super-megastructure with a radius of nearly five thousand kilometers, floating in space. The ring-shaped installation is the greatest fruit of the Science Movement by the Jot people, with the ability to create and sustain a small-sized artificial sun in the center, monitored by an energy ball surrounding it, providing substantial heat to the citizens living within the ring. Oxygen and other necessary elements are all created by talented magicians and their successors (mostly children of them). For those that could not be self-supplied, they would import it from other systems. The installation is also protected from small to medium-sized asteroids thanks to a shield system.
The installation was built in three years, a few months faster than reported to the ministries. During the weeks leading up to the completion, the agency offered, mostly in discreet, their hands to the small numbers of progressive intellectuals in Selo, and a small number from other systems, and to millions of refugees living on the planet, inviting them to join the new nation, to work together and build a new world. They only managed to gather five hundred million people, with the majority from neutral countries and the refugees that reside in it, and a small number from other systems in the galaxy, but nevertheless, it was a good start. Once this is done, they publicly announced its independence. The superpower they used to work for was completely in disarray and outraged. They denounced the leaders and threatened to destroy Jotunheim once the war is over, but this was never the case. The nations left on Selo crippled each other to the point of nigh-irreversibility. With most intellectuals leaving the planet, their advancement were nearly stagnating. They are now considered one of the least developed planet in the universe
Back on Jotunheim, for the next few decades, the scientists that headed the Jotunheim project, now voted leaders of this new nation, set up their government, establish law, social order and culture, distinguishing values, principals and mottos. A meritocracy built on science, intelligence and for the cause of human development only, one of the prerequisite for the president's chair is minimum fifteen years of research in any fields of science, social or natural. The leaders are very focus on life quality and education. Life on the worldship is a little tight, but peaceful. People are sick of conflicts, and war is considered a taboo word to a Jot. Every citizens on the worldship are mutually respectful towards others, even if their ideals and opinions are different. One of the most impressive social achievements out there is the total number of crime reports for all crimes in general hanging only around tens of thousands in five years. Those who visits Jotunheim will be astounded by the quality of life there, with the landscape filled with skyscrapers and modern buildings, powered by renewable energy. But perhaps the greatest thing about the place is the education. The motto 'Today's Children, Tomorrow's World' emphasized how much the leaders care about education, especially the lower level. Every Jot's child born in this society is born with great intellect and taught with progressive methods, and are expected to finish at least college and university. Some other ambitious people continued on getting masters and doctoral degrees and proceeded to further the nation's scientific advancement.
However, there are some dark sides to the seemingly peaceful society of Jotunheim. The citizens sometimes look down on some of the leading and governing class people outside of their society, especially poor and war-torn planets, as the direct result of them leaving their home planet Selo was because of the combination of greed and stupidity. The other downside to the society is the lack of investment for the military. The word called 'war' is a word that is taboo but without understanding. As a result, the citizen's fate in this large universe is dependent on the wills of other larger factions out there to not wage war on them. There are, however, the recent and newer generations of Jots are more aware of the current situation in the universe, and had been making subtle movements to adjust.
Appearance
"Are you quite done yet? If so, then let us proceed."
"Shirada before combat"
At 5'7 but the wheelchair pushed him down to only 5'0, and 158 lbs., An looks frail comparing to his peers. His condition pretty much prevented him from gaining much weight. The man prefers to wear formal clothes above every other choices of clothing at all, aside from the mandatory school uniform of course. In fact, nobody actually knew the An Shirada wearing something that isn't a suit and a tie. His hair is silky white, straight and trimmed neatly, reflecting his formal nature. He wears a very thick glass, which is also his MAID, which is surprisingly, to anyone who discovers it, is a zero prescription glass. His eyes doesn't have any problems at all. His eye colors are a mystery to nearly everyone, except for those close to him.
In conclusion, An Shirada is an embodiment of what culture usually depicts rich and nerdy people: overly intellectual, introverted and pedantic.
Personality
Anyone strangers to An approaching him will most likely end the conversation with a long yawn.
The reason? He does not talk much. Not because he can't talk well, but because he doesn't want to. Especially from strangers, one reason because they are just plain stupid and uncivilized. Silence is the best answer to those fools, he says. It is also because he is already fine with the friends he has. Due to his disability occurring a little too early for a man like him, which very much limited his ability to move, he is confined and isolated on his wheelchair. As a result, he usually spend a great deal of time alone by himself, with either his book or computer, as his mind wanders elsewhere in this world. However, those who manage to bear such boredom and manage to break into his inner shell, this white-haired genius turns out to be quite a warming and dedicated friend. Those who did him great favors like helping him when he is in great needs or even saving his life would be met with utmost respect and hospitality from him. He is also the type of person to sympathize with a person's struggle, especially in terms of personal physicality, because he too had been through such difficulties himself.
As a result from his upbringing, An ends up being a very formal person. He is always seen wearing a suit and tie and speaking with politeness and elegance, even if he is not returned with such attitude. And, a little frighteningly, he also retains such formalities even in battle or critical conditions, as he sits firmly on his chair, speaks very formally and calmly as he delivers his most powerful to the enemy.
An is also an efficient person, preferring to solve problems with the least resources and effort as possible rather than trying to blindly punch his way through using brute strength. He is straight-forward and quick to the point, but not at the cost of his formality
Background
Shirada came from Jotunheim, a large worldship flying around the Neutral Rim, to a wealthy and educational family. The ship is all run by scientists and researchers, as the requirement to rule the civilization is through an election, but the candidate must have over fifteen years of research in any field of social or natural science. The place is very peaceful, with pretty much no wars or conflicts at all. All competitions are conducted in the names of science, and people are very committed to the cause of scientific and technological advancement.
As a result, the expectation of any family is to have an intelligent and clever child with high degrees of education. And this young man, An Shirada, the only son of the family, follows the tradition well. The family is held in very high regard but is considered eccentric; every meal was spent in relative silence, with everyone reading a book of their own, or if they ever talked, it would be entirely about academic.
Bearing all the expectation that people ask of him, An studied with great intensity. He was curious in many subjects, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, philosophy, history, politics, psychology and many more and proved himself a great mind. He spent a few years in a prestigious middle school, it was also the time in which he discovered his rare magical power to manipulate the inner power to create billions of highly energized atomic particles, in which can be used for mainly combat purposes, and partly civil purposes. By the time he reached high school, he was already proficient at this power that he could be considered a worthy combatant despite his disability. His father initially was concerned over the use of his power, as he wanted his son to have a more civil career. But An saw further. He is, after intensive studying, relatively concerned over the state of his planet, or worldship, as there were not enough emphasis on military funding, and that if either factions decide to declare war over Jotunheim, or the entire Neutral Rim in general, his people would be doomed. So he decided to spend a fraction of his time in furthering his own power, and studying more about politics.
By the time he was sixteen, there was a nation-wide competition for fifteen to sixteen years old students for a ticket to the Asterisk. The winner would represent the entire planet to study there, both in combat forms and academic knowledge. The idea really appealed to An, as he could utilize such environment to harness all his necessary skills. But competitions were tense. An pretty much passed the combat test easily, to the surprise of many. But the written test was a lot more competitive. He was on par along with three other potential candidates, all of whom had passed the other tests with flying colors. As a result, an oral examination was conducted. When the examiner asked what is his plans for the future, An replied: "If you give me the ticket, I'll go to the Asterisk. If you don't, then I'll stay and attend a moderate school. So I expect you to give me the ticket." He was held in higher regard than he thought. The examiner said they were dealing with a person cleverer than most, so they gave him the ticket.
And so the disabled genius left his home to the Asterisk, where he would spend the years there trying to perfect his own power, while learning more about the universe he live in, in the hopes that he could use such powers to not just further the development of his home world, but to protect them from any potential threats in the future.
Disability
When on a first year middle school field trip, when he was eleven, to a forest moon somewhere in the galaxy, An was subjected to a heavy and incredibly dangerous infection, which came from a poisonous creature, which caused one's muscle to lost strength very quickly everywhere the poison passes through. The creature was listed among one of the most dangerous out there on the planet, and arguably in the entire universe. The one bitten by such creatures can die within two hours, with the muscles that controls the breathings and other vital organs seizing to operate. There are no 'complete' cure. The school teacher and friends manages to bring him quickly to medical help, and the doctors manage to extract the poison out but the damage had been done. There was no way to bring back the muscle strength that was lost. Consequently, An lost the muscle control in his legs entirely, as he was bitten there. His torso was also severely weakened, being able to move slightly. His arms were not that much affected, but the effect was also apparent. However, and thankfully, almost, if not all, of his vital organs remained intact, and his face muscles were spared. As a result, he is capable of eating, breathing, speaking, seeing and maintaining some basic physiological needs.
When faced with the disease, An was hit hard, but after a lot of encouragement from his family and instructors, he continued his studies while he learnt to adapt to this new condition. The isolating process of treatment led him to become a lone wolf and extreme introvert like how he is today. Around the same time, he discovered his magical ability. Fortunately, and probably also a merit, for this genius, his family was wealthy enough to handle this sudden change of lifestyle. A robotic nurse was hired to take care of some of his physiological needs that he could not help himself, and was given special permission in the Asterisk, as soon as she remains only in the vicinity of his room. An electronic wheelchair is also bought, using the latest technology of 'air petroleum', the technology that converts air into energy. It takes around fifteen minutes to fully charge from 0 to 100 percent, and can be used 3 hours straight. The wheelchair is controllable via a small rotatable ball on his armrest. Thanks to the good treatment from his family and people, he is ready to study again, with as much efficiency as he used to before the condition.

M.A.I.D.
The glass that An is usually seen wearing is also the M.A.I.D device that he uses in battle. What better a MAID device for this young man than something that he uses every day, 24/7 and is always on and with him all the time. The magic powered by this small device is a specialized innate and highly-energized power of a person. The ability to utilize this power is rare, and requires a great deal of concentration. This power can be utilized into many different techniques (References only). The three below can be used at the same time, with the shield able to be maintained as long as he is not exhausted, with the final move being the only one that cannot be used while at least one of the other are being used:
+Aegis's shield: One of the trademark ability of this power is the ability to create an impassible shield that surrounds An in his wheelchair, and potentially other allies if need be. The only way through this shield, and arguably to win, is to hit it as hard as you can, as the shield is directly connected to his stamina. The harder you hit, the more fatigue he feels. If you manage to struck down the shield with your power, congratulation, you have won, because he is completely vulnerable without it. Another path is to make him lose concentration, as his power requires significant amount of it
+Collider Bomblets: He is also capable of materializing this energy into small round balls the size of a soccer ball and super heating it to magma level. A touch of this ball can melt. The ball is slow but explodes when in contact with a solid surface.
+Wave-force Lasers: A highly energized beam of energy that is a lot faster in terms of velocity than the collider bomblets, but is not as collateral or deadly. However, these things can be fired with a fast rate.
+Collider Decimator: One of the deadliest moves, but the most costly. It is the same principle as the bomblets, but instead of multiple bomblets, he concentrates the majority of his strength and stamina into one gigantic bomb, engulfing the impact area with a boiling bath of energy near ground zero.
Miscellaneous
He enters battle in his wheelchair, and is almost unable to dodge anything due to his slow engine. Also, he had a robot maid/nurse in his dorm room to help him with his needs.
Half a century ago, there is this American philosopher who asked the question: "What is it like being a bat?". Living consciousness is perhaps one of the great questions of the universe in the modern age. Where do our minds go when we die? What does it feel to take the brains of other creatures and live their lives? And perhaps most interesting of all: Can a robot be conscious?
Various movies and films were made with such ideas. The robots made to feel, to touch and to think, to grow attached or to destroy humankind. Now with the advancement of technology, the question was even more apparent than before. The concept was argued by many to be impossible, but who can say for sure. Science, after all, are very theoretical. One that used to be a fact could be proven wrong centuries later, and one everybody thought being preposterous could turn out to be an entirely new concept of the next Great Age.
Over fifty years later, that question is being asked repeatedly, in the mind of a twenty-four years old disabled man.
"And here we are. All necessary as you embark on your separate doctoral journey."
The professor, or to these living minds advisors, were handing out a couple of sheets of papers. One of them was passed onto Thomas, who was sitting on his wheelchair at the very back of the small table.
"Something to separate the men from the boys. The roars from the meows. And the strong from the moderates. Twenty questions. All about mathematics and computer concept. Each more impeccable than the last."
With that said, Thomas had a look through the questions, examining and analyzing them as quickly as possible. It was indeed impeccable. Each weren't just simple concepts that we could find in the books anywhere.
"Good luck. You'll need it next week 3 o' clock. See you then."
That was the signal for everyone to pack up their stuff and leave. The session is over.
"I'm seriously gonna die with all of this." One of Thomas's fellow friend grunted as he stood up.
Thomas returned the gesture with an amused grin. He too followed these men, shutting his laptop down, stacking his whole bunch of paper on it and stuff it entirely in his school bag. The only paper that was not placed in the bag...was the twenty 'impossible' questions.
"Thomas, you wanna go to the movie right now?" The same friend asked.
"I apologize but I'm not in the mood for that."
Thomas replied clearly but politely as he smiled lightly. Seeing that he was holding the 'impossible' questions, the guy knew exactly what he was going to do.
"As dedicated as ever eh?" He said. "See ya next week then"
Sol City Zoo
"Hmm."
The questions may not be as hard as it seemed.
On the way there, while sitting on the bus, Thomas could be seen staring intently at the paper he was given. He was going to stop by at a nearby café for comfort and tranquility, but before he arrived there, he felt that there was no more need.
The day is still long. The weather's warm, the sun's in the sky, the flowers are blooming and the birds were chirping. This made the man in his wheelchair regretted the decision to refuse his friend's invitation. He had a lot of time in hand now. He wouldn't want to spend all of it inside the confinement of his room in riverside doing relatively little. It would be lonely.
"Next stop: Sol City Zoo."
The automatic sound of the bus announced the next destination. Thomas lifted his head as he reached for the stop button. He could spend his time there.
The bus slowed down as it approached the stop. Thomas reached out for the controller placed on his armrest and held it firmly. It really felt like he was playing a game whenever he does so. A racing game, but in this case he was experiencing it for real, and sped at a much slower velocity. With a gentle push, the electric wheelchair gained its power and life again. The wheels began to roll, pushing itself and the passenger forward.
"Have a great day." The bus driver saluted Thomas as he lowered the bus door and the ramp. The wheelchair user simply saluted back as he casually rolled down the ramp and headed into the zoo.
The sight was a little odd to miss. A young man in his twenties, strolling down the zoo's walking path, all by himself, without any helpers. It was indeed a little risky, because if he somehow fell over or his wheelchair got stuck somewhere, it would be a sticky situation for him, since he could not walk by himself. But it was worth it. Firstly, he wouldn't want his nurse, Jeanie, to spend all her time around him. Secondly, because sometimes he just wanted to explore the world by himself. He goes everywhere he wants, he does whatever he desires. He would not be bounded by anyone else going with him. Life as a PhD student could be a little isolating, as students would have to spend long hours of research all by themselves. And this was not a weekly or monthly process. It took years, and each years are more difficult than last.
He came down the lake at the zoo, as something drew his attention. People were gathering around the plexiglass fence, watching over something. A gentle lift of the joystick stopped the wheelchair, followed by a right jerk made the thing rotate to the right, turning him facing the bear exhibit.
To his vision, he could see this young girl with brown hair feeding this huge bear. It wouldn't have been much of a surprise if she was just giving the bear the bucket of fish and just let him, or her, eat it in peace. The girl, instead, petted him intimately. And he seemed a little happy about it. Interesting to see how close the zoo workers were to these animals living here.
The girl left shortly, as soon as the bear finished its meal. And also the time for Thomas to go. He wanted to see more, not just one exhibit. Strolling down the walking pathway, through the small park, in which was the place for visitors to sit down, relax and enjoy the scenic around them, Thomas realized something was not alright here. Just as he derailed from the pathway and into the grass area, one of the wheels suddenly sank into the ground, listing him to the right, and preventing him from moving.
"What the hell?"
It seemed like his wheel got caught in some unusual man-made trenches, presumably from some kids once playing here. And now he was struggling to get out of there. The wheel dug deep enough to counteract the power of the engine.
+Working: Work to him is a source of purpose and of meaning. Life would be meaningless without it
+Music: Most music genre in general. There are some particular he really enjoyed, like orchestral music. And there are some he doesn't, but the latter case is pretty rare.
+Hanging Out and Socializing: To an optimal degree, yes, he needed socialization. And he liked to do so, chilling out with people who he considered his friends and loved ones
+Moments of Solitude and Tranquility: Socialization has its limits. While he is a generous social spirit, he cannot be compared to party-lovers. Staying too long would tire him out.
Dislikes:
+Extremism: "Never deal in extreme. It will only cause harm in the long-run." - Thomas Lancaster
+Isolation: He enjoys working by himself and moments of self-reflection, but long period of isolation will prove detrimental to him, as he would be suspicious and cynical of people around him.
+Tasteless and Offensive Jokes: Especially aiming at his disability.
+Wasting Time: Every minute matters.

Personality:
It's pretty obvious that Thomas is a person of impartialness. He always seeks for a balance in his social and private life. He prefers to work by himself, and enjoys moments of solitude to comprise his ideas together, to reflect upon himself and simply to recharge from his social life. But overdoing it would mean isolation, and that would not do with him. He would easily get cynical and suspicious of people around him when it happens. The same goes with socialization. Thomas is aware of the emptiness that comes in his moments of solitude, so he would usually reach out to his friends, loved ones to satisfy his social life. Whether it is just a cup of coffee or at a dance party (even if he can't dance), he does not shy away from those activities when he needs it. But doing too much, and it would tire him out. And it will cause him great frustration and irritation. Those are the two areas that anyone who wishes to walk along with him in his path should know and avoid. And not many people can find the perfect middle point. Some nurses who took care of him had gotten into conflicts with him because they breach into either those two zones. That is why getting into a close relationship with him proves a little difficult.
When well-balanced, however, Thomas can be a charming, gentle and funny gentleman. A passionate man to his work, and compassionate to people going through hard times, and is very aware of the preciousness of life itself, as he had been through a rough childhood time. He can be the light to the party that he goes to, or the light that shines through the realms of technology and science, given that you give and respect the variables it takes for him to get there.
Background:
His early life has been far from being harsh. He grew up in a wealthy and intellectual family. His parents were successful financial investors in America, and was wealthy enough to ensure a thorough pursuit of knowledge to him and his two sisters. His oldest sister is a criminologist who had a PhD in victimology, now currently doing her research at a large institute. His other sister is a qualified doctor at a hospital.
From primary to middle school, he attended prestigious schools and proved to be quite a mind. He isn't at the top of the class, 'thanks to' the poor and counter-productive teaching method, but some of the kids looked up at Thomas for his quick perception, non-linear learning style and the ability to think up of unusual concepts.
The first giant rock standing in his life path is the faithful accident when he was only fifteen. He was on a visit to France, particularly he was on a hot-air balloon, flying around the countryside. The balloon, for some technical reasons, crashed onto the ground, along with Thomas and a few other passengers. While the passengers had a varying degree of injuries, Thomas took the worst of it. The height of the crash was not too high, but it caused a serious leg injury. Severe enough that it completely robbed him of the ability to use the legs forever.
His life took an abrupt turn in a span of just a few minutes. The accident really took his toll on him, both physically and mentally. From a well-abled person, he is now handicapped, and must rely on the use of his wheelchair to move around. That really was a lot of stuff placed on the shoulder of a fifteen years old. He had to go through tons of physical examination, in a hospital environment that could be really isolating. He initially was very depressed over the incident, and once thought that he may never make it through.
But he did.
All the medication, the examination and treatment eventually came to an end, and he was discharged. Knowing that the neighborhood the Lancaster family was living in doesn't really support handicapped people, they had Thomas move to Sol City. Initially, his parent moved there with him, but then left, due to several personal issues, leaving him a personal nurse to tend for him whenever he needs it. There, the money he was supported from the accident, combined with the assistance from his family, he is able to finish his general education and university. He attended university when he was eighteen. The first eighteen months of his life was relatively easy for him, so he could easily get lonely with his work. As a result, he developed a social habit, to hang out with friends and join various clubs that suit his interests. The only club he found passion in was the Robotic Club, in which he stayed for a few years until his doctoral years.
After university, he was given a pass to the PhD program where he studied, in which he chooses Artificial Intelligence as a subject for his graduate work. He is now into his third year of doctoral studies, and is working on a thesis about the consciousness of robots

It was certainly a great feats to meet the father of every Komei students again. The group of students would really much want to enjoy a few moments talking about old times, but by the tone of it, he meant business.
"Certainly, Mr Hisakawa. I was expecting you would say that."
The three Sky Knights stepped up. However, the girl in silver-white hair halted and turned around.
"Come on brother, you aren't excluded."
Turning back to the principal, to answer whatever doubts he had in his mind about that statement she just made.
"I'm not going to lie to you, but he's also in it. But unlike the other folks, he was in the right situation and made the right decision."
The boy scratched his hair at the compliment. She didn't really mean to criticize the others. They had no choice but to fight for their lives. But she couldn't undermine Acion's decision not to fight right there. And also the fact that he worked pretty well in conjunction with her team without any prior training was actually a good thing to consider in the future.
"I'm sorry if I couldn't help my friends much." To him though, it was his first villain fight. And it very much did not go as he had expected to be. In truth, it was way worse. His pride and confidence in his power was shattered when he and his sister was outclassed by that guy. The simple explanation to that was that this was reality, and that he was not as strong as he thought he would be.
"Anyway, let us discuss the issue, shall we?" Said the girl with the black ironclad armor as they approached the principal.
While the other three were looking at Mr Hisakawa, the Sky Knight leader was paying attention to this man right next to the principal. He looked significantly older than her, but was a lot younger than our old principal. For some reasons, she could feel an odd aura behind that charming look. Something...very intuitive, but could not be expressed through rational thoughts.
I wouldn't say that most were evil as far as the characters went in Chapter One. Some behaved worse than others though.
That many evils lol.
Though I'd say even if Thomas works for moral cause (like the thesis he works on), he had his concerns about the extremism that can come as a result. Though he is a genuinely nice dude. Gonna need some people to trigger that bad side of him
The door leading to the man's quarter in the hospital was a pull door, on Acion's perspective that was to say. As any person with common sense would know, inside was the patience's area, which should be in an almost silent state. As a result, so as not to disturb that, Acion opened the door slowly. And consequently he could not see his friend rushing at him at maximum speed...
"Argh!"
The door slammed right into his forehead. The edge of the door to be exact. The sudden pain rushed to his face was great enough that he let go of the door handle, allowing the door to swing wide open, giving Roy the way through. And he thought he was in grave danger
"He is such a rhino." The Sky Knight said as she took a side step, letting him pass, while Acion was clutching his head in pain. "Injuries that caliber and I would be on my bed for at least a day."
"He's heading for the girl's quarter. Must be worried about his girl."
'Damn it Roy...'
"Roy, wait!" The winged man said as he chased after him, turning right at the corner where he saw he turned.
But the moment Acion peeked into the hallway, he could see a familiar face, along with a not so familiar one. This is the face that had struck him in complete zero gravity just the other day.
"Mr Principal?" He uttered.
This struck the cord of the other three standing nearby.
"He's here." Though they weren't too surprised. He was always there whenever they got into trouble back during the days. Soon, the three heroes, or to the old Gravity Yarl, three Komei alumni, made their entrance to the two men standing in the hallway.
"Good evening Mr Hisakawa." And one of them spoke.
