I don't mind filling the position and make both sheets if you are willing to accept me of course. If @PaulHaynek also wishes to partake then perhaps we can compete with character concepts that will fit the roleplay?
@vancexentan Sorry, I have been adjusting to a new schedule that I recently got into so its been a bit wacky this week. As for my Master, I believe it should be done by this weekend if not Monday the latest.
I'm not opposed to druidism and a Celtic/Irish Witch, but I don't foresee faeries and other supernatural spirits/entities fitting well within the theme of this roleplay. Though, druidism isn't limited on faeries and such, many having abilities and spells that resemble the wild, the fire, and other things revolving around nature and of the sort. I believe necromancy does fall under druidism as well.
Hmmmm, I planned to make a Witch that intruded on Werewolf territory in a innocent way with the nature dynamic that I was going to run with. If this is the case then, I'll just make a Native American Witch which should be fairly more mundane that the previous two ideas that I had going. Hopefully thats fine ^^
@Lionhearted@Alfhedil Its fine lol, the huge thing was a bit iffy so thats why I placed it here first~ Since that is off the table, I'll make a druid who is a Celtic/Irish Witch coming to town.
A question that comes to mind: Are there other Supernatural races than the ones you listed? Because with this idea, I was thinking of bringing in other creatures of the night if that is fine with you (like faeries and other spirits of the land since it revolves around what my Witch does).
@Alfhedil I was simply think that my character would be a member of the Christian Church and the basis behind it would be that the religion has a duty to mediate both the Supernatural and Mundane world. Of course, they would have a bad reputation and stereotyped but isn't that what everyone does to each other supernatural race that they are not a part of?
While the Roman Catholic Church is the largest church, it could be generally declared that in Christianity, Saints were powerful witches that have been recorded in history while Prophets are essentially off the scale in their reach and regarded as special. Together these people helped guide the world in a better way and were given these special titles of Saint and Prophet not only for their power but dedication. Ordinary Priests who have been ordained vary in their magical capabilities but at minimum are capable of casting the simplest spells of magic by how the Church and Religion works as they attract similar-minded individuals even if they aren't aware of their talents.
The headquarters of these faction of witches would be Vatican City but their reach and influence is world-wide that has been ingrained in history. These priests would be considered to be Witches first before Hunters, since most do not proactively go on missions to deal with small-time threats of the supernatural. They ultimately act as a peacekeeping force to keep order in the Supernatural world for everyone's interests.
So in the end, yes. In this world, Christianity is based on magic that has been disguised and has its connections to all parts of the Supernatural world is what I am getting at.
I have a question on whether you would allow witches to be 'priests' as I have an idea of bringing a church to Salem. If this initial idea is fine as 'priests' are essentially witches performing a different branch of magic and calling themselves different names, I'll add a little more lore for you to review if it is fine.
Hopefully this idea is fine but just running it through you two first before starting anything~
I'll bury the hatchet and just let you keep the mind's eye thing at B rank which is C until studied. In my personal opinion it shouldn't be there but I'll give you some leeway.
Hmmm, upon further debating on myself I just decided to lower the rankings to what you suggested earlier which makes sense for Assassin. So in the end it will be [ D Rank ] at base line that has the possibility of becoming [ C Rank ] in combat after studying.
Guile and Subterfuge (B-) // A skill that Assassin had picked up during the years that they operated, moving through the many different courts and echelon of power made them accustomed to the many different natures of people. With eyes in every shadow and tongues carefully held, they learned the unspoken language that people communicated even if they didn't recognize. It is a more sophisticated version of [ Human Observation ] that came from the training granted to Assassin allowed insight not only during socialization but applying to things outside of it as well like combat if given time. Upon studying an individual for a day, Assassin gains [ Eye of the Mind (True) ] against them at [ C Rank ] within combat. However, if preparations for this skill is not met for a Servant or individual, the buff they have against them does not trigger and their [ Eye of the Mind (True) ] is lowered by a single rank to [ D Rank ]. Outside of combat though, this skill shines as Assassin's own political savvy and experience allows him to keep this skill at its original value of [ B Rank ] when it comes down to talking or socializing with others. Allowing him to see the possibilities of guiding a conversation to the desired result that he wishes, it allows one to escape a discussion or engage in one with much more finesse.
If you take out the memory wiping, and just have him deal magical 'stab' damage against enemies (as long as it's not automatically fatal) along with the healing factor I'll be fine with it.
Okay that sounds fine, I'll just need to cut some things from what I originally put and adjust a little. In the end, the memory thing is removed~
This Noble Phantasm is a technique that opens the doorway to the 'soul' using the body as a medium. Being a two way relationship, the connection between Assassin and their target can be said to be very intimate with what it entails. One could damage it in order to affect their physical body, being a less mundane way of attacking that what others would suspect. A powerful enough technique to even scramble the Magic Circuits of those who possesses them in a short time as seen when [ No Name Assassin ] used them and when specifically directed Servants, could bring them down to their knees. It is in essence 'dealing magical damage' to his opponents that ignores the endurance of the flesh and instead competes with the magical fortitude of a character to see if damage is dealt through the use of any medium that Assassin chooses. The same can be said that through this way, a person can also be 'healed' instead of being harmed as Assassin can cut and remove the infected or ailing part of a person as 'healing' but requires much more control than the process of simply harming another.
@vancexentan For Guile and Subterfuge I looked at Chevalier d'Eon as a basis of what Assassin could do and decided to improve on it as compensation for the lack of combat capabilities. Along side the fact that it is Assassin specialty in acting such an area, I thought it would be fine giving base-line [ B Rank ] in that skill to him that could improve originally.
If that is not fine, then I am okay with making it at maximum be [ B Rank ] and become another skill that has a different rank within combat that suffers a decrease in rank to [ C Rank ] until he studies them. Allowing the skill to be raised back to its original value since he is intended to be more of a socialite along with the fact its based off on [ Human Observation ]. Making this skill rank to be a maximum of [ B- ] situationally and knock off the parameter decrease. Thoughts?
Lore wise, Assassin's Noble Phantasm is only seen as a killing technique and this view point is also supported by himself as well, being 'an entity made for killing' at one of its simplest functions. Allowing him to harm others not physically but on the spiritual level that prevents mundane protections from keeping them safe. That is all that matters for the other Hassans and Assassin himself.
In more depth, this Noble Phantasm works on information since it goes through the Soul/Records of an entity first and manipulates it, the changes written on the soul will then try to manifest and overwrite the present with the new variables recorded. An example would be using this Noble Phantasm to inflict a wound on a person, even though the weapon didn't pierce their body, by changing what is recorded in the soul is then reflected outside the body. The same can be said about healing as it restores a person to a previous state recorded within their soul as all the memories that have taken place are there, wounds can be overwritten within the soul that would be reflected on their body as they are 'healed'. My idea that if a person is less human, the nature of their soul would be more difficult for Assassin to handle due to its foreign nature plus the fact that it would inherently be stronger and more resistant to change than a human soul.
To erase someone memory with this Noble Phantasm is possible as it gets rid of it from the source, resulting in varying degrees of amnesia if a person cannot defend against it that could change them depending on how long Assassin dedicates himself to. However, to remove or change the foundation that someone is built on and has already happened is near impossible as they are variables that are more concrete and solidified beyond the grasps of manipulating as a principal to nature and would require much more power to budge them (like a wish from Holy Grail to accomplish, very High-level Thaumaturgy, or Magic to name a few). To do such a thing, the actions that proved their existence in the world would effectively have to be erased or changed before the soul twists the body to that degree which is beyond the capabilities of this Noble Phantasm. Think Grand Order when trying to erase the existence of something, as you must prevent the result from happening in the first place to cause disorder to the rest and pervert them or outright destroy them. These critical events can be reinforced however to prevent change in a being's existence or up to a point that even boost their abilities if Assassin should desire as it empowers their physical existence and standing to make a change to the world once again.
To sum it up, this Noble Phantasm works in the present and cannot change the far past. It can heal people as well as harm others and a whole lot of things if Assassin puts his mind into. His limitations are the predefined rules along with the general sense that Assassin cannot extend this ability effect to anything outside the area of the bodies of himself and the targets that he has in mind.
Moving on from that, this Noble Phantasm is only at its fullest potential against straight boring humans as they hold little weight in this world but even then there is a limit to what Assassin can do to them.
Resistances to this technique begin to build up so long as they have 'Mystery' and 'Presence' to them, which all Servants above the existence of wraiths should have a fair amount and results in a base amount of defense against this technique. When stacked up with Class and Personal skills plus the lore of other Heroes, they simply gain more defenses the older they are and how prominent they are.
Saber has [ A+ Magic Resistance] that prevents this skill from effecting in any massive way even if Assassin were to approach her via touch. The same with Lancer being blessed by the blood of Christ which would suffice in enough mystery to again prevent major changes added on top of his own [ Magic Resistance ]. Rider would have some resistance from his existence tying him closer to being an elemental spirit which would provide another layer of defense compared to other servants. Archer being the most mundane would preferably keep to being at range and use that bow of theirs to what Archers do best but resistances again from [ Magic Resistance] and what fame that poem has ontop of it. Berserker has dragon blood in her, she's practically immune to the serious effects of this Noble Phantasm even if its not stated on the Sheet with the [ Magic Resistance ] built into it and besides why would he want to get rid of his karaoke buddy? Assassin against Caster would be a chess game of one piece that he has and Caster having several other pieces to defend himself as king but that sword is whole different topic of hurt.
If you look hard enough, this Noble Phantasm is only dangerous against those who didn't deal with the supernatural world and those who are heroic spirits that have recently came into fruition. Even then, these Servant's best defense are the accumulation of their stories which is their Noble Phantasm that can provide solid defense as it is a representation of who they are in the present if there is significant connection between the two. Only Servants who are either low-tier of the spectrum or their existence being considered a wraith is capable of being significantly affected simply due to them not have enough 'presence' to solidify themselves to the world. It is similar to Nobunaga Oda's Noble Phantasm flipped around as it excels against normal people but is abysmal against those who have left a significant influence on the world or vice versa (the world having a significant influence on those Assassin is trying to effect).
So yes, he is perfect against Masters and the occasional Servant who are in the same tier-level as he is but outside of that there is nothing much he can do. In the end, like any other Grail War is to hide your Master against Assassin and you'll be fine!
Hopefully thats a good enough explanation, it took me some brain storming to spit out English rather than Nasu-talk. If this doesn't suffice then I can make it more concise and take out the fluff, so just tell me if you need it ^^ Sorry if everything is a bit confusing, Fate series does that to me!
@vancexentanNot sure what I made but its completed for the most part before the critiques have been given.
He's more of a politician that will be dancing around this Grail War, however, if push comes to shove then he can defend himself to an degree. His weakness is against targets who are resistant to magecraft, possess a strong mentality, and have mystery which are essentially the three criteria that make up the upper echelon of Servants. In exchange, he is more compatible to the mundane opponents that will be there but his stats as an Assassin balances him whenever it isn't cloaks and daggers.
Assassin
Alias: "Old Man of the Mountain" "Hassan of Depravity"
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Servant of:
Weapon(s): His Voice is the most prominent weapon he uses that most wouldn't suspect upon meeting him first Formally trained in daggers and other small blades for any of the unsavory business that he does Practical hand-to-hand combat as carrying a weapon in court isn't a good way to incite trust
Wish: Assassin's wish is to figure themselves out to see whether if they should repent their sins (But this wish should not be granted through the use of the Grail unless something changes)
Abilities: None
Class Skills:
Independent Action (A) - As a figure who always worked alone, it is not surprising for Assassin to take action without their Master. Moving through the shadows to set up a web of lies and deceit, it is a skill necessary for someone who schemes such plans and ideas. At this rank, it is possible for them to last a week in this world without any anchor but this is without taking account of any other method of sustaining oneself.
Presence Concealment (B+) - At this rank, it is suitable for Assassin to spy on others. However, the skill is tailored more for Assassin to be seen while disguising their presence as a Servant, resulting in receiving an increase in rank to [ A+ Rank ] for this skill when used that way. With Assassin hiding essentially in plain sight, it prevents most identification from the senses of Servants unless they have other skills to say otherwise. Allowing Assassin to be seen as a normal person but it still retains the same limitations for when preparations to attack are made, the efficiency of this skill decreases to [ C Rank ].
The only exception to this is when Assassin uses Sound-based techniques. With the way that Assassin uses these attacks, it requires the target being [ willing to listen ] and [ not be cautious or wary ] of Assassin. If these two requirements are met, Assassin can use sound-based techniques to their fullest against them that would not register as 'harmful' or 'suspicious' to them that would normally out Assassin.
Personal Skills:
Espionage (A++) // So long as Assassin does not reveal their true nature or intentions on purpose, it is impossible to discern any hostility or alternative motive from them. With the combination of skills that Assassin has, the ability to detect their nature as a Servant or intentions are close to zero unless their opponents is able to see through it in some way. This skill is lost, however, when attacking a target under this effect and is permanently ineffective for that individual unless something were to change that.
Mesmerizing Presence (A) // A skill brought on from [ Self Modification ] that was intended less for combat and more for one's own appearance, resulting in Assassin to be simply charming to say the least. Its drawback is that the changes are permanent but allows him to manifest his appearance as a strong mental interference magecraft-like effect on others. With even his mundane actions being enchanted with poise that he simply has to him, it is becomes more prominent when exerting the specialized talents he has with his voice and movement if he so desires. One could call this a captivating force of personality and gravitas that surrounds Assassin that draws people to him. While partial evasion is possible with [ Magic Resistance ], as a skill surrounding his personality affecting others, a skill like [ Charisma ] or any other mental pollution could provide defense against this ability.
However, even without [ Charisma ] or any other protection, one can abate it to some extent so long they maintain a will to resist. Those who willingly fall prey to this skill receive a negative debuff when trying to resist this skill unless something otherwise changes it. At its core, this skill cannot go against the fundamental beliefs that an individual has but can try to persuade them over time, with the results varying, against the most fool hardy individual it can reaffirm their own beliefs even. Magical damage and effects can be transferred through his actions and even his words that latches onto them, being entirely focused on mental interference. It is a skill incompatible to improving on Assassin's physicality due to his focus unless converting ranks to [ Self Modification ] from this skill with partial efficiency.
Guile and Subterfuge (B+) // A skill that Assassin had picked up during the years that they operated, moving through the many different courts and echelon of power made them accustomed to the many different natures of people. With eyes in every shadow and tongues carefully held, they learned the unspoken language that people communicated even if they didn't recognize. It is a more sophisticated version of [ Human Observation ] that came from the training granted to Assassin allowed insight not only during combat but outside of it as well. Upon studying an individual for a day, Assassin gains [ Eye of the Mind (True) ] against them at [ A Rank ] and treats their physical parameters as one lower for Assassin so long it is not directly contested. If preparations for this skill is not met for a Servant or individual, the buff they have against them does not trigger and their [ Eye of the Mind (True) ] is kept the same rank as this skill.
Outside of combat this skill also as the [ Instinct ] skill when navigating social and diplomatic conversation. If the individual has not been studied before hand by Assassin, this skill becomes [ C Rank ] , that allows Assassin to roughly feel the way of how a conversation is going. Allowing him to get a general feel of the intentions of those that he is conversing with during this period of intermission between them. Should Assassin complete the criteria of studying his opponents before speaking to them, this skill increases to [ B Rank ] which allows an even finer sense of the flow between him and the conversation that is happening. Giving him the chance to preemptively change his own tone and responses to elicit the result that he desires or try getting as close to it as possible with this skill. After studying his target, it allows some capability to pass through mental defenses a person may have such as [ Mad Enchantment ] or [ Mental Pollution ] and have some understanding to a degree. Should any of his techniques of mental interference be used against opponents with these unstable mental states, unsavory and twisted results may occur for Assassin should he risk it.

Description: Compared to No Name Assassin's application of this Noble Phantasm, there is more depth to it than being simply being the assassination technique for Hassan of Depravity. It can be said that her usage of this Noble Phantasm showed the inadequacy of her inheriting the title of [ Old Man of the Mountain ] but who are they to judge?
A similar technique to The Hundred-Faced Hassan in more ways than one, it was an inborn quality of Assassin that they had, but what is useful of a beautiful voice for a person who killed for their entire life? Not to mention what would make it worthy enough for the others to accept it as an technique suitable of being named [ Zanbaniya ] and compete with the others. The answer would be through a method only they would be able to do, a technique that utilized the soul of Assassin to not only harm but heal, it can be thought to be similar in a way to Spiritual Healing and Material Transformation.
This Noble Phantasm is a technique that opens the doorway to the 'soul' using the body as a medium. Being a two way relationship, the connection between Assassin and their target can be said to be very intimate with what it entails. As the soul is the record of a person at their core, Assassin if given time can read through the entire history of a person through this medium and if so desired, could alter it to affect their physical body. It is a powerful enough technique to even scramble the Magic Circuits of those who possesses them in a short time as seen when [ No Name Assassin ] used them and when specifically directed Servants, could bring them down to their knees. By altering the records that are pertained in a person's soul or the history in a object, the body that they are reside in are also affected by this fundamental change in their being. The reverse can be said that the foundations that a person is built on can also be reinforced upon that solidifies their existence or purpose that can change their capabilities.
Giving it the capabilities to potentially ignore the preset qualities of the flesh and body, it instead becomes harder to impose change on a object that is resistant to magecraft or have a substantial amount of mystery behind them that makes it incompatible to this Noble Phantasm. Making it possible be resisted with [ Magic Resistance ] to reject the attempted change or something like [ Divinity ] which offers resistances as they become less human. Making this Noble Phantasm working more against mundane opponents like humans or if they are servants, wraiths such as Assassin himself and those closer to modern day who lack substantial mystery.
In the right situations however, these setbacks can be mitigated with several criteria that can be met which improves the effectiveness of this Noble Phantasm if Assassin has the chance. It first starts off at [ C Rank ] with its potency, but allows multiple targets to be effected at the same time in exchange for the potency of the change. Should it target a single entity, the effectiveness of this Noble Phantasm increases by a single rank to [ B Rank ] as there is more precision and dedication involved to achieving the desired change but now limited in targets that it can affect. The final criteria which can allow Assassin to be at his full capabilities is when he touches another person's body which allows the most intimate connection. Allowing this Noble Phantasm to increase another rank to a maximum of [ A Rank ] that gives Assassin the opening should the conditions align.
The final limitation that this Noble Phantasm has is the chant that comes beforehand to use it, fitting into the magecraft system of being a Ten-Count aria. It is a form of self-hypnosis to acquire the potent effects of this Noble Phantasm but can change depending on what Assassin wishes to do. As the aria to cause harm is different to healing someone or changing the principal of an object/entity that is being targeted which allows Assassin to seamlessly blend it into conversation with his finesse so long as the depth in them are true. If this step is not followed, the maximum potential for this Noble Phantasm to reach would be a measly [ C Rank ] in the capabilities that is able to do.
True Name:
Hassan-i-sabbah
If its easier, just PM me the details that you wish to discuss and we can talk them over. This OC went a bit bigger than I originally planned once it got rolling... As for my Assassin's Master, I plan to make a character that is as close to being a pacifist as one can in a Holy Grail War that will make the dynamic for Assassin to take on a diplomatic role. (Or if someone wishes to make a Master in this stereotype/role then just tell me~ I won't mind if you make this character yours with your own twists and turns!)
