Name: Wafer D. Kite
Epithet: TBA
Race: Human
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Kites stands at 5'8" tall with a relatively lean, yet muscular build. Sporting a messy head of blonde hair and green eyes, he isn't generally one to stand out in a crowd. Furthermore, given the relatively loose fitting, fairly conservative clothes he wears, he doesn't give off an air of intimidation. On the subject of his clothes, though the overall outfits may change, two things remain constant. His look is generally simple, and he can always be found wearing the same overcoat. Supposedly this overcoat belonged to his father. Kite is a simple man with simple tastes.
Position: Marksman, Cook, Deckhand, Fighter

Quirks: In a world full of oddities Kite is most certainly know exception to the rule. The following are his primary "afflictions:"
Drunken Competence - For some reason or another, Kite is at a loss if he has not ingested alcohol. Those around him will find it difficult to believe he is the same person as he can barely accomplish the most mundane of activities. He cannot fight whether it be with his hands, his sword or his precious gun(s) if he is not under the influence. There is no explanation for this phenomenon. Before he had his first sip of booze he'd believed himself to be a lost cause.
Mythological Infatuation - Kite has a somewhat unnerving love of all creatures he has never seen or heard of, particularly creatures of myth. It is enough to distract him, make him do stupid things or just act like a curious fool. At the top of the list are dragons.
Additionally, he has a habit of sleep poking, which is a habit in which he will leave his bed or wherever he is sleeping in order to find and poke somebody or something. He is afraid of dehydrated fruits and vegetables. He believes they are unnatural and they are the only food he is okay with wasting. Though if he doesn't know they are there he won't care. His signature laugh is "Shooahahahahahaha."
Personality: At his core, Kite is a young man driven by a love of adventure, a need for freedom and a strong sense of justice (though justice is subjective). Regardless of his state of mind he is loyal, has a strong love for his friends and is fairly knowledgeable in regards to a number of areas although, on average he isn't one to brag (if he's sober).
However, although he is driven by these things it must be noted that he does indeed have two states of being, as alluded to prior. First, there is his behavior when sober. He is generally a well meaning guy, but one will see his more timid side. He prefers to avoid confrontation, he is typically nervous around women, and finds it hard to trust to "intimidating" people. Furthermore, he is something of a klutz. Physically, he'll trip over himself and mentally, more often than not, he'll trip over his words.
However, that isn't all there is to Wafer D. Kite. When drunk it can be said that the young man transforms. From a timid little fool to a confident fool. Free of his worries and inhibitions, Kite may very well be the first to head into battle. He'll stand up to anyone, he won't back down, and he'll keep movign forward the whole way through. Serious or not, his confidence won't waver, and neither will the grin which seems to hold an almost permanent fixture on his face.
History: Wafer D. Kite was born to a single mother who own a bar on a small island barely even noticeable on any map. The island, known for the crops it cultivated as well as alcohol said to be the finest in all of South Blue, was a cornucopia of pirates who needed rest. Its people could have been considered criminals, but most officials wouldn't bother stopping by and if not for pirates among other criminals and sea goers the people would likely be at a loss. It was their largest means of trade and currency acquisition after all. The people of this small island were rather content.
Kite's mother, Marisol Kline, owns the most popular bar on the island. In an island said to brew the best liquor in all of the South Blue, she claimed to make and serve the best brew on the island. This was a claim widely backed up by a multitude of patrons. One such patron, a pirate by the name of Wafer D. Solas, would often visit her establishment in the hopes of procuring a number of barrels of her particular brand of booze and in order to see her. At least that was what he said. He always made time to speak with her, to get her anything she might need before he was off again. Many people who knew the boy's father mention that it was only a matter of time before their infatuation grew into love and that love grew into Kite.
He was born under a full moon, the sky filled with stars, clouds seemingly nonexistent. He doesn't know much about the circumstances of his birth beyond that, and the fact that his father had indeed been there. Not long after though, Solas departed, setting sail as he always did. Mari awaited his return, but this time he didn't. No news of his death or capture had been reported. And yet, weeks, months, years passed. Kite's mother was dejected, worried, fearful for what had become of her love. These feelings were directed at Kite. She was protective of him, sheltered him, and pushed him to learn things that she felt would lead to various opportunities in life. She feared he would go down the same path as her lost love and did her best to keep that from happening.
When Kite was 7, his mother married a man who'd begun to frequent the bar. Kite came to learn that he was a bounty hunter, albeit retired. The man respected her feelings for Kite's father. He was kind. He cared for both of them and helped anyway he could. He was the one who began teaching Kite to defend himself. He defended his decision by convincing Marisol of it's importance. She agreed, but only if Kite kept up with the studies she had imposed on him. Kite managed, though he wasn't quite happy with the turn of events. Still he pressed on.
Around the time he turned 11, Kite began to help his mother in her bar. His stepfather, Lennox, kept rowdiness down to a minimum while she cooked and prepared drinks. More often than not, Kite served the orders as they came. As time went on he would begin to mimic his mother, helping her make drinks, brew alcohol and cook. He attempted to take over kitchen work when he was 13. His mother wouldn't allow it because of a certain problem Kite had displayed. He was a complete and utter klutz. Still, much to her dismay customers seemed to prefer his cooking, however simple the dishes served were.
It baffled her and Lennox. Simply put, he could understand, learn, memorize all their lessons. But in trying to demonstrate what he'd learned he always managed to screw it up. More often than not, he would hurt himself or somebody else. They were worried the boy wouldn't be able to do much if this streak continued. Kite himself, wasn't so much worried about that as he was about what he wanted to do. Things were good, he didn't feel a need for worry, but he wanted more than arbitrary lessons. He wanted more than to be restricted to the only place he'd ever known. And as he grew older he couldn't very well hide the feelings.
Kite had had just about enough around the time of his 16th birthday. He'd gotten into an argument with his mother. In his anger he stormed off, swiping a couple bottles of her famous booze. He hadn't actually planned on drinking it. He'd just wanted to upset her. But as he sat alone with the bottles he decided, "why not give it a try?" He drank about half a bottle. It was delicious, although he'd expected that. He would return home with two empty bottles and two still full, with a small fight breaking out. This was the first display of his prowess while under the influence. This wouldn't be found out to be the cause, however, until about two weeks after the incident.
Things carried on more or less the same. Kite wanted to leave, but he had no means of going. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father. Even to go out like his stepfather once had would be more preferable than staying where he was. He could only look towards the future, with hopes that it brought more than what he had already experienced, and more than he was currently experiencing.
Skills and Abilities: Kite boasts the following:
- Marksmanship - Training with Lennox has yielded great results in Kite's combat skills. Still, for some reason or another, while under the influence of alcohol, Kite holds uncanny skill in regards to firearms, or virtually any projectile. He nary misses a mark.
- Swordsmanship - Although he is by no means a master, Kite can handle a sword fairly well since he was forced to learn by his stepfather in case he could not use his guns.
- Cooking/Baking - Kite is fairly brilliant in the kitchen, a talent he was praised for above even his own mother by patrons of her bar. It is also to be noted that this may be one of the few skills he retains even while sober, though most wouldn't trust him to use a knife if he weren't under the influence.
- Musician - Also had the behest of his mother Kite was forced to learn to play three instruments. His mother thought it would be good for him in the future and figured she could get some cheap entertainment out of it. Violin, Piano, Guitar.
- Agility - Kite is quite agile boasting incredible reflexes, even while sober. Quick movements aid his ability to avoid attacks, whether he's fighting or simply running for his life.
- Strength of Will - Whether sober or drunk, Kite can really on his never say die attitude. Despite his timidness sober, even if he would be tortured he wouldn't give up his comrades. And while drunk, he'll never back down.
Devil Fruit: N/A
Haki: N/A
Gear: Kite generally has two
Flintlock 6 shot revolvers with a sword at his side. He also carries around 4 smoke and 2 flash bombs. He has been known to change up his equipment, but not very often.
Fighting Style: In combat Kite generally sticks to hit and run tactics. He tries to keep himself mid to long range, using firearms to the best of his ability. While he can manage in close quarters combat he prefers to avoid it, even when hopped up on booze, because it is not particularly his forte.
Techniques:- Screw Shot - Kite loads and fires dribuls (his name for his Drill Bullets) which combined with deadly accuracy have incredible piercing power capable of mowing through most armor and shields.
- Rico-Shot - Kite loads and fires his ribuls (his name for Ricochet Bullets) which as one would expect may bounce off nearly any solid surface to reach its mark.
- Bullet Haze - Kite can do this while moving, or standing completely still. He rapidly aims and fires, turning as needed, out of a near 360 degree radius. Currently, he can move fast enough to empty his guns, reload once and empty them again. Typically, this offers anywhere between 1 and 24 shots in a short span of time.
- One Sword Style: Penta Slash - Apart from the basics, Kite holds one special sword skill. Putting his speed to the test he swings five times (typically in the shape of a star or pentagram). On average, at least one of this slashes gets through his opponents guard.
