"We need to work on your name later, I'll go call you Crow for now." Ashley decided as she conversed with the group, it appears that K-Pop guy and the crow have a history, something she should inquire for later.

Durand huh?, Ashley thought as if the surname explained a lot to her of course she will know that name. It appeared countless times in their classes after all.

There is also the news of them backing her father, god this life got more complicated.

"I would appreciate if we don't talk about my surname Mr. Durand, I've been trying to get it changed to Herrera for years and my petition is constantly blocked every turn. As far as I'm concerned I am not one those Whitlocks, got it?" Ashley's voice suddenly went colder in tone Emily never her take. The room felt it's been colder in an instant.

And Luka felt that he might actually die if he pushed further.

Seriously she met the whole family one time and any thoughts of tolerating them went down the drain. The tolerable one is Wesley, a literal infant and ironically his father not that she will say it to his face.

Ashley opened her eyes at the counter looking at the surroundings as she listens to Luka.

"There is too little information for us to craft a quick plan." Ashley answered as she looked at the door. "But we could use precautions to take the advantageous positions when we went into contact with the enemy." she spoke as she took the coffee and obliterated it in one gulp.

"I'm asleep when we got ourselves killed to can anyone explained to me what happened that time?" she further asked to the group before tending to the Crow.

"That's coffee, think of it as a surge of energy in liquid form. It seems it is more effective on you since you typically don't drink one."

She took a glass of water and placed it near the Crow.

"Drink up, I hope this could help you."

New Ties if approved

4. She must be careful around Luka, he might bring her unwelcome developments to her life.
5. She hates being a Whitlock.

Flashback

Monogatari
Aiko Muramasa is a child born from an unexpected union, one between an heir of a clan known to forge some of the finest blades in the Land of Iron and a clanless Ronin who quickly rose through the ranks by the virtue of her talent and adherence to the principles of Bushido. A figure of hope and admiration for the masses and Aiko herself. An ideal warrior of Bushido that Aiko wishes to follow in the footsteps of.

That code of Bushido however will lead to her family's ruin when they played host to a foreign dignitary, she remembers him being a rude guest and on the first night of his visit he got killed by his own guards that he insisted to keep with him along with her father. She remembered the chaos, the rage inside of her as she cut the traitors off with her mother.

It will be her first and last battle with her however, as the failure to protect the dignitary became an undeniable stain to their name, one that under the code of Bushido can only be satisfied through seppuku. She was spared because of her age and a passionate appeal but she was forced to watch her mother and what remains of her family cut themselves so that she may live with dignity and honor in accordance with Bushido. The sight will forever haunt her as she struggles to uphold the ideals set by her mother, as she finds herself questioning if Bushido is the actual way of life that she should strive for.

She found the answer to her question a month later, when the very people that her mother once protected took advantage of her naivety and looted anything of worth at what remains in her house. Despite being capable of easily escaping her ties, she tries to understand why they are doing this and why they desecrate the place where their protector once lived.

There is no reason other than plain naked greed and the belief they are powerful enough to prey on her an emotionally distraught young girl and win against her. Because as they say, the code of Bushido is an land in the sand made by the weak to deceive the strong because there is only one truth in this world, the truth that allowed the Land of Iron to once dominate the world.

That truth is that 'Might makes Right', the weak cannot fight back, protect themselves or even try to defend themselves.

So it is her right to kill all of them, when she easily escaped their binds and took the last blade her father worked on, after all they were so weak that a girl like her could easily beat them despite their numbers, right? Because she is strong, because she is not weak like everybody else. Aiko survived that night but she will never be the same.

She spent the following years wandering as a Ronin, taking the dangerous jobs she comes across and honing her skills against powerful opponents. Beast, shinobi or fellow samurai it doesn’t matter as long as she gets into an intense fight where she can throw herself and forget about everything.

She continued her life until a mission in Konoha set her blade against Yusuke Uchiha, the man that she did not know at the time will win her hand... (in progress)

Kokorononaka
Aiko lived most of her life as a thrill seeker, the woman who revels in fights especially the ones where her death is a possibility. For her it is an addiction, a way for her to run and cover any insecurities buried inside of her mask of a free willed woman. She had considerably mellowed out at her time at Konoha, letting herself mask slip sometimes to show the girl she was before; a fair, curious girl who held the blade to protect her family.

Ashley stared at Santana unimpressed by the joke but she will admit that it lightened up the atmosphere. "Figures, you're just playing with the card you've been dealt."

She then contemplated what she felt, it felt like ripple in her heart letting her see the world more clearer. Like her sight is being cleaned on the spot.

"Well it's not like I want to die here." Ashley spoke as she turned to the crow, Emily and the K-Pop guy. Letting herself die so that Mr. Whitlock won't find her is tempting but she digress.

"But we're not going blindly or in a rush. Let's start with introductions, I am Ashley Whitlock and as Emily said I'm a college student. I'm currently on an accelerated course for my bachelor's degree in history minor in political studies. I knew how to throw a punch but I don't prefer that option, so how about you guys?"
"Santa... na..." Ashley spoke as she listened to the bartender's 'deal', so she truly died while asleep? That was very unceremonious and honestly a bit embarrassing. She doesn't know what death should look like but this is definitely now how she imagined it will go.

She briefly looked as Emily who apparently saw someone that caused their death, she would ask her on who it is later. Or maybe she doesn't need to.

She looked at the card on her hand, so she is given a chance to redo things and save herself. She knew she had no choice but to take the second chance but there questions that needed to be answered. Emily already asked the how but she also to ask...

"Why us?" Ashley asked. "Emily is correct, there are other people in the diner who will handle the situation better." she spoke.

"People who can fight, people who can scheme or won't ask questions like us and yet you picked us, why?"

Fylkirlén Forest

Lucas looked at the flames with a little pride as left Gwen to choose their destination, he initially thought that he would struggle casting flames in a forest encased in the ice but it appears that he is worried for nothing. As long as uses his own mana, his glyphs will operate normally.

Now time for the next step, adjusting the glyph to use the ambient mana instead of his. That way the flames will not just consume his mana but also allow him to make a torch for them to carry. With the amount of ice mana surrounding him, it will prove to be quite challenge that will need a minute.

A minute that he simply won't have as he felt a chill behind him, forcing him to turn around and prepare a glyph for a potential battle.

Finally her prey in sight, with a rush of energy Liv chilled the group of Gwen, Ayuna, Ceri and Lucas, slowing down their movements and reactions, dashing around the trees to hide her position still.

”Høhø, you Phoenixes can either surrender or face the might of Setsuka-sama and her best forces!”

In a millisecond glance Liv already identified the main threats of this group, a Glyph Mage with likely a large reservoir of spells, but can he maintain his campfire and fight back at the same time?

He could see it in the corner of his eyes, shadows moving and sneaking around the tree. He cannot say for certain but he had a weird feeling about this one.

He took a glance at his group, aside from Gwen the flame he made is a lifeline. He had a choice of fighting back or keeping flames lit.

Well there is another option.

"Forces imply numbers." he spoke as he kept tracking of the moving shadows. He doesn't expect banter but he needs every second he could to modify spell a bit.

"And if you are the best..."

The cold will not bother these flames.

"...it speaks on the quality of your organization." he spoke as he threw the modified flames to the trees allowing it to slowly spread around the snow.

It will remain ever burning as long as coldness lingers.

"I hope you mind the landscaping and arson, it's getting too cold here." he spoke as flames of arrow began pursuing Liv.
Ashley is not a frequent patron of Mario's or any other restaurants. She prefer making her own food and leaving the leftovers at the fridge for her to eat later. It was how she and mom managed their money back in the day and she wanted to continue that life. There are exceptions to this preference though like when was too tired to cook (which never happened) and holidays (which is the current situation).

It hasn't been the same though, eating food alone felt like tasting ash in her mouth and as much as she tries admit it she is only doing it out of habit. She could try inviting Emily or accepting Professor Rudolph's offer to join him in the Christmas. Right she should've done the latter but she doesn't really want to impose herself on him.

She felt like an idiot.

Ashley closed her eyes, the diner wasn't that filled there is nothing to steal on her so maybe she could just take a small nap...

Ashley opened her eyes sitting on a stool, that was weird because she remembered taking the seat. Her eyes darted around her where finds Emily, a crow and a man who won't be out of place in music videos. The man appears to have a beef with the crow and the crow seems to be capable of speaking

What is happening? Is she on a high?

Fortunately it is enough to distract her from the shock of waking up dead.

"So what is this place? I'm pretty sure this is not anyone's idea of heaven?" she asked touching the card between her fingers.
<Snipped quote by Digmata>

I'm guessing that Prof Rudolph is a lecturer at whatever university Emily and Ashley both attend; out of curiosity, who is Mr. Whitlock to Ashley?

Also, if no one objects I'd like to do a minor retcon and move the start of the campaign from Buffalo to NYC; it shouldn't impact the overall story much but after thinking abt it I just like the vibes better =V

Ashley's estranged father, a career politician who revealed himself at her mother's funeral. Ashley wanted to just avoid him and pretend they are strangers.
@rush99999@Digmata Would either of you be interested in Emily having a tie with one of your characters? ^^"

I've been busy today and just recently got access to the internet.

As for that sure, since I plan go make two NPC ties for Ashley let's make the last one as PC one.

1. Professor Rudolph is like a father to me.
2. I wish Mr. Whitlock would just leave me alone.
3. Emily and I know where the lines are drawn.

It appears that Emily is a victim of plagiarism and pretty distrustful to the point that a crow is her best friend. Ashley is a girl focused on her studies so they could probably some sort of 'we both want to be left alone, let's stick together and do our stuff in silence.

They could be roommates in a dorm as well.

Q: "What is it that fascinates you about this subject, and how have you come to be so knowledgeable in it?"

A: "Ever since I was a child, I always wonder why me and my mother live in the slums or why the city have one? So I studied the past hoping I could catch up with the flow."

"As to how I learned so much, the library let me read for free, the internet is there and a mentor supported me."

Lucas gracefully landed with the help of his magically constructed wings, the sheer coldness of Iceberg now assaulting him in full force now that he is outside the blimp. Fortunately his branch of magic thrives in sheer versatility and while the weather is hostile, nobody else is.

[Glyph Magic: Grand Campfire]

Warmth would cover the area around Lucas and the gentle rays of magical fire to Ceri, Ayuna and Gwen which garnered his attention. That face of hers it felt familiar.

It was a very hot day back then, it was him, his teacher and that poor siren.

She cannot speak a single word and she have no choice but to bottle it up.

Sometimes she will enter his room and wake him up. He already knew what she wanted and will make space for her.

If only so that he could shoo away her nightmares.

There's no mistaking it, Gwen is having a living nightmare perhaps a vague one but it is one worthy of being kept an eye on.

"We should be the ones asking you that." he coldly spoke to her yet it also had a tone of worry, of genuine concern?

He smiled a little at Gwen's recognition of his talents as he materialized his book.

"I don't have her photographic memory nor the training necessary to become cartographer but I can cheat a little." he declared as opened and revealed a page. Drawn on it was the map of Iceberg, specifically the section where they crashed landed.

"There's a castle nearby, we might be able to find it for temporary shelter but a cave system is also available in the opposite direction.
