Was talking to someone who worked in closed captioning who is now getting a new degree because so many companies are turning to AI to close caption now… Which AI is pretty shite at it still.

Games I haven’t been playing video games lately, but once I pick them back up again, I’ll make this list

Kimiko pats his arm. “Don’t let it all go to your head now.” She tells him before returning her gaze to Nic.
”The blessing was under Shouren and Lì Wu, so your parents would be the ones who made it.” She tells him before glancing between Cassi and Caden. “Do either of you have any fox spirit contacts you could reach out to?”
Kimiko hates that the shift in the conversation has to make her the center of attention now, but she guesses it’s better than the alternative. “The scroll only shows the names of the blessed and their location.” Kiki tries to remind herself that she doesn’t have to be irritated by the question, even if it feels like she’s explaining it every other hour.
“As for revoking - this is the first time I’ve seen it happen… Someone pointed out to me recently that I should probably reach out to other kitsune.” She steals a glance at Avery.
He tries not to, but Nic start to overthink everything that’s happened in the last couple of weeks. “But it was made by my parents? Not my grandparents or anything?” He asks, eating his food slowly.
When Avery squeezes her hand before standing, Kimiko blinks, just now realizing she had done it without thinking. At Caden’s question, Kiki smiles nervously. “Oh, um, well, Nic, were there any big changes with your family in the last couple of weeks?” She wanted to ask if they stopped being ‘pious’ but that’s not exactly polite dinner conversation.
“It could be anything, just something that changed from typical for your family.”
Nic kisses Cass’ head as he stands with both their plates, nodding to let her know he wouldn’t put tomatoes on her plate. At Kimiko’s question, he tries to think of anything that could have changed in his family. “Honestly, days and weeks blend into each other for me, especially with the long hours I was keeping at the hospital. Sorry - my dad might have a better idea though.” He adds the last part as he returns to his seat and sets Cass’ plate down in front of her.
Nero picks at their food, enjoying the steak, but finding most of the other foods a little plain. They don’t know if that’s because of the food or because of the tension that only just let up.
“You invited me! I couldn’t say no.” Kimiko bumps Avery with her elbow. “Besides, that was before I knew how fast you ride.” She glances nervously over at Caden and then Cassi. She could cut the tension with a knife.
Without really thinking, she puts her hand on Avery’s forearm, trying not to go into the same freakout tone that she had used this morning with Nic.
There’s no way anyone’s missing the silent showdown between Cass and Caden. Nic pats Cass’ leg before standing to grab her plate. Leaning down, he murmurs to Cass, “Would you like me to prepare your plate? Just let me know what you don’t want.” He once again glances over at Caden but otherwise tries to stay out of it for now. Any other night, he might play mediator, but this isn’t his place.
Nero gave a subtle nod to Caden when he whispers it’ll be okay. They give his cheek a kiss before hopping off to grab one of the more rare looking steaks. They glance back, not missing the shared look between Cassi and Caden. They add some of the sides to their plate, more to try than anything else, before they pull the chair nearest Caden next to him and sit down in that, hoping that might help with the tension.
Nero shifts their weight, knowing there’s a secret conversation going on between Caden and Cassi. They hide their anxiety by holding their drink with both hands, sipping it and trying not to glance between the two. Or say what’s on their mind.
Nic whips his head to look at Avery, keeping his hand on Cass but shooting the werewolf a grateful smile. “Feeling pretty good actually. There’s a few muscle aches but that’s just from me not treating my body very nice for those few days.” His mouth feeling dry, he gulps some of his Italian soda down. He’s sure he doesn’t need to elaborate for anyone at the table to understand what few days he’s referring to.
“How about you, Kimiko - it was your first session with Avery too, right?”
Kiki chokes a little on the candy in her mouth before just swallowing it. “I was a little sore too, but I don’t know if it was the workout or Avery’s driving skills with a motorbike.” She glances sidelong at Avery with a little smirk.
Nero can’t help the little sly smirk that grows on their face at Cassi’s question. “I’m finding everything to be comfortable, yes.” They keep their tongue in check though, not asking how sexting with Nic is going.
Nic gently squeezes her hand back and when she leans back in her seat, he places a hand on her thigh. Trying not to be obvious about it, he glances between Cass and Nero as they exchange words nervously. He’s glad he knows more about Cass, but also he wishes he had learned it sooner so that it isn’t fresh on Cass’ mind right now. He steals a glance at Caden with an apologetic smile.
Kimiko laughs lightly, covering her mouth so she wasn’t showing Avery her mouth full of candy. She tucks the candy into her cheek before answering. “It means star ball - kitsune all have one, they’re kind of like our life source. I would show you mine, but typically my fox keeps a hold of it.” Plus she’s still not sure how his wolf would react either.
Nero looks up when Caden rests his hand on their shoulder and beams. They nod their head side-to-side and kick their feet a little in a happy wiggle as they continue to sip their drink. Even though they want to join the conversation, Nero holds back just in case they manage to say the wrong thing.
Nic shakes his head in answer to Caden. “As much as I would love to keep borrowing it, I think my bike misses me.” Nic tells him before Cass starts to tell Caden about their day. He claims the seat closest to her and sits as well.
“Oh, we probably should let Mr Singh know we were able to restore it.” He mentions before grabbing one of the appetizers and eating it.
Kimiko glares at Avery when he winks at her, before she picks up the bag of candy, selecting one that looks like a large marble. “This almost looks a Hoshi no tama.” Kimiko muses before popping it into her mouth and sitting down again. She notices Avery waits until her and Cassi have sat to sit down himself.
Nic chuckles and shakes his head. “I have some Italian soda for now, but maybe in a bit?” He glances over in Cass’ direction and relaxes a little when he sees Cass hugging Kimiko - that’s a good sign.
Kimiko smiles, hugging her ‘big sister’ back. “Yeah, well, I missed you too, I guess.” She pats her back awkwardly, still not the best at showing her true emotions. She can’t help but steal a glance at Avery before she mentally chastises herself.
Nic squeezes her hand before the two of them head outside. When Caden approaches the two of them, Nic finds he has a new appreciation for Caden after learning everything from Cass. He takes Caden’s hand but hugs him instead of shaking it. “Long time, no see.” He jokes with a small smile before turning to Cass. “Apparently we missed a memo about coordinating our outfits though.”
Nero stays perched in the seat after Caden gets up, offering a small wave to Nic and Cassi in welcome. There’s something different with Cassi and Nic’s not meeting their eyes. Nero fidgets in their seat, looking at their lap as they wait for Caden to return.
Kiki stands up with a sheepish smile. “Hi Cassi.” She says with a small wave, wanting to stay behind Avery and hide, but it’s inevitable that she faces Cassi’s wrath. “Nice to see you too.”
Nic chuckles. “Might as well. It would make for a good mixer if nothing else.” He helps her out of the car before going to grab his backpack from behind the driver’s side before rejoining Cass. He takes her hand and squeezes it gently before the two of them head inside.
Nero glances up at Caden before nodding. “I figured it’d be better coming from you… Maybe since it’s been a few days since we last saw each other she might be willing to warm up to me more.” Nero says optimistically. If Cass won’t help with the branding, Nero still plans on going through with it.
“You’re worried.” Nero says, reaching up to smooth the small crease in Caden’s brow.
Kimiko appraises him for a moment from behind her drink. What if I wanted you to, though? She asks silently to herself. Instead of that though, she says, “I’d like that.”
She straightens in her seat. “Cassi and Nicholas are inside the house.” She says, mentally preparing herself for it.
