Was talking to someone who worked in closed captioning who is now getting a new degree because so many companies are turning to AI to close caption now… Which AI is pretty shite at it still.

Games I haven’t been playing video games lately, but once I pick them back up again, I’ll make this list

Nero yawns and gets their ears to pop before they nod at Caden’s question. “I’m okay, it just took me by surprise.” Nero says with a grin before they peek out the window. The landscape below was getting smaller by the second. They turn back towards Caden, still smiling. “Now answer the question.”
Kiki’s face lights up in excitement. “An arcade? I don’t think I’ve ever been to one before.” Even though they had been alive when they became popular, it wasn’t the most important thing on her mind at the time. She takes the helmet from Avery with a small thanks.
“Okay, so… no going over the speed limit, please.” She asks, knowing that’s a long shot.
Nicholas “Nic” Wu
Location: Nic’s Soon-to-be-Old Apartment - Chicago, IL Skills: Fit
Nic follows Cass with a big smile. “Can I go with you or do I need to drive the van?” He asks his girlfriend.
“Kat and I are taking the van, you get to relax with Cass - lord knows you need it after this week at the hospital. Did I tell you guys how many times he would get stopped during our shift overlap? People treat him like some sort of celebrity.”
Nero glares, but it doesn’t have the desired expression when they’re laughing. “Just had to guilt trip me, I see.” They say before they stop narrowing their eyes at their dragon.
“What’s your favorite movie?” Nero asks instead. The two didn’t really watch television - there still isn’t one in their bedroom and Nero likes it that way. It meant more time spent on other activities. The plane launches into the air and Nero grips the arms of their seat, going wide-eyed at the sensation. Flying in smoke form was a much smoother ride.
“Definitely not.” Kiki says with a small grin as they approach his bike. Her stomach does a couple of cartwheels, both at the aspect of riding the death machine again but also just excited about the date. “Even if you told me where we were going, I probably don’t know of it.” She admits to Avery as she pulls on the borrowed gear from Sarah. The leather felt more sturdy than the light pants and jacket she had worn last time on his bike.
Nicholas “Nic” Wu
Location: Nic’s Soon-to-be-Old Apartment - Chicago, IL Skills: Fit
Nic can’t help but grin at Cass still, but lets her out of his arms as he acknowledges everyone else who helped. “Thank you.” He says before kissing Cass again. “I should’ve known you’d plan something like this under my nose… Thank you for thinking of my dad and me.” His heart swelled with gratefulness at the amount of work they all must have put in.
“Wait, Jane did you work a full shift and pack my place? You’re actually insane.” She waves Nic’s comment off, but her and Kat grin at me. It’s a little sad to be moving away from them, but it’s not as if they’ll never see each other.
“How many places can you recognize from in the air?” Nero says with a tiny pout as they mull over it. “Las Vegas?” They guess as they place their hands on their knees and lean forward closer to peer at Caden. Nero narrows their eyes and tries to see if they can guess based on Caden’s expression or clothes or even luggage, but they come up empty handed. With a dramatic sigh, they lean back into their seat and cross their arms.
Kiki shakes her head at his comment, but lets herself be distracted by Avery’s hand around hers. When he mentions the house being empty, Kiki laughs softly. “It’s weird when it’s not empty.” She replies. Then again, she’s never really lived anywhere that has a full house staff like Caden does. Kimiko has barely stayed anywhere long enough to get a place of her own and her da only kept a housekeeper and butler on staff at his place.
“So, where are we going?” She asks as they step out the front door.
Nicholas “Nic” Wu
Location: Nic’s Soon-to-be-Old Apartment - Chicago, IL Skills: Fit
Nic takes the water bottle from Cass and greedily chugs, a little drop of water spilling out and dropping down his chin and neck. Once he catches his breath he looks between Cass and everyone else in bewilderment. “You packed the whole place??” He asks, touched before leaning his bike against the moving van and pulling Cass into a hug, picking her up a little and spinning her around before kissing her softly.
Nero purses their lips and playfully glares at Caden as he tucks his phone away. Curiosity gets the better of the little imp and they cock their head. “Why’d you turn it off?” They ask. They only had the one phone on them, leaving the one specific for contacting demons at home. Since this is supposed to be a break, Nero made sure that nothing will distract them, especially demons. Speaking of, they grab their phone out and put it on ‘airplane mode’ before slipping it back into their purse.
Nero watches as Caden sits and resists the urge to jump into his lap - they had been warned to be a good passenger, whatever that means. Not wanting to embarrass Caden, Nero had been secretly watching airplane and jet etiquette videos in their moments alone.
The fox grimaces a little, half tempted to agree to it just to get out of riding the motorcycle. “But then you wouldn’t have the opportunity of me wrapping myself around you in fear and I’m afraid you would be sad that you missed out.” Kiki shoots a wink at him to cover up the nervous jitters she’s having. She can’t remember the last time someone had properly taken her on a date… Well she can, but she’s trying not to think of Caden right now.
“You look very nice.” She observes after giving him a once over. Sometimes Kiki wishes the wolf would wear some brighter colors, but Avery did pull off black very well. Kiki grabs her yellow crossbody purse and phone before stepping out of her room.
I hope you haven’t been working too hard to pack everything up without me.
Nic texts while stopped at a red light. He has a feeling his ‘local sorceress’ has probably done more than her fair share of helping with the move even just today. He can’t help but be grateful to her though - she had helped convinced his dad to move into a new place together and sell his home. The light turns green and Nic moves his legs, pedaling faster than usual to get home quickly.
“Are you going to tell me where we’re going yet?” Nero asks excitedly, unable to stop their fidgeting and wiggling as they sit in one of the leather seats. This is going to be their first time in a plane and they can barely contain their excitement for it or for the secret location Caden is taking them to.
The little imp pulls at their sleeves and hair to make sure everything is still in place. Kiki had taken Nero with her when she had gone to a salon to have her white hair colored and insisted that Nero get a hairstyle upgrade as well. Their hair isn’t as wild as usual and has some purposeful layers to it as well as a temporary dye job that’s already fading back to Nero’s typical white blonde hair. The vibrant orange was fun for a little bit, but Nero is happy to have their own hair color again.
Nero’s happy for the mental break though - over the last week they had pushed themselves into trying to uncover more about Mundus or Abaddon, or really anything that could give the demon a clue to how they had escaped the devil’s grasp or where he currently is. As much as Nero has been trying to fake that everything is fine, the stress had been getting to them and they were often picking fights over small things or pulling pranks that were more mean than fun.
Kiki was just finishing up on some light makeup when she hear the familiar knock at her door. She had made sure any remainder of the bruises on her neck was covered, excited for their first official date. She double checks in the mirror that everything looks good and tries to see if any of her hair has turned white again - good on both parts.
Opening the door, she sees Avery and grins, the cut on her lip only a tiny scar now that’s not easily seen. “That doesn’t look like a swimsuit.” She teases, knowing that the two had been invited to join in the pool party with the staff.
After much persuasion and heavily debated talks, Nic had finally convinced his second-in-command to switch shifts with him so he could leave work a little early today. It didn’t stop a lot of the staff or regular patients from cutting Nic off in the hallway and talking to him on his way out though.
Nic understands it though - he had been gone for two weeks and had only just started working again this week. It’s rare for Nic to miss work and even rarer to hear he has a girlfriend. Everyone wanted to meet Cass and kept asking when Nic would finally bring her by the hospital. He didn’t have an answer for them outside of ‘soon I’m sure’.
Finally though, he is free from the hospital and unlocking his bike from the rack. Nic had already changed out of his scrubs and into some clothes to help with the move. He puts on his helmet and starts the trek to get to his soon-to-be-old apartment and into the new place he and his dad had finally agreed on. Somehow, they had found a place not too far from Cass, his dad’s shop, or the hospital. It’s perfect.
Finally free, on my way home now. <3 He texts to Cass.
Kiki gives a soft snort in response. “You just want me to hold onto you tightly.” She mumbles. It doesn’t take too long until she’s fast asleep.
Nero
Location: Caden’s Home - Chicago, IL Skills:
Nero nods before smiling crookedly. “It’s even harder facing your own demons when you are a demon yourself.” Nero jokes as they turn back to the book they were reading before the two had started watching videos.
“I’ll hold onto them for a special occasion.” Kiki says before they reach her bed. She crawls onto the bed and doesn’t hesitate to lay her head on Avery. “Just… Give it a couple of days and then we can go on a date and you can tell me how pretty my new haircut is and I’ll pretend that riding motorcycles is fun.” She starts to mumble as she closes her eyes and gets comfortable. “Just don’t blame yourself anymore.”
Nero
Location: Caden’s Home - Chicago, IL Skills:
Nero once again finds themselves in awe of how Caden just always seems to know what to say. “I’ll keep at it then,” Nero pledges in response. “Even if it means I end up writing the book on Mundus myself, I’ll figure this out.” Even if it’s just to placate the immense guilt they feel towards Cassi.
Kimiko closes her eyes again once she sees Avery’s return to normal and relishes in the feeling of his lips on her forehead. “I’d actually prefer if the attention was taken off of me anyway…” She says before looking up at him with a small, wry smile. She grabs both of his hands and starts leading him out of the bathroom back to her bed,
“Let’s continue this conversation in a more comfortable place, though.” She tells him.
Nero
Location: Caden’s Home - Chicago, IL Skills:
Nero frowns as Caden speaks. They understand what he’s saying but there’s still so much unknown that the little demon is still trying to figure out. “What if there’s something like that hidden away still? I can’t just let everyone I did as a demon ‘off the hook’ because I didn’t have my humanity or was just ‘following orders’.” Nero finally shifts their gaze to glance at Caden before sighing.
“I don’t think Cassi should be blaming anyone but me for it.”
Kimiko had guessed earlier that Avery might be blaming himself for what happened to her, but she’s not sure how to help him understand that it’s not. She watches as the yellow in his eyes starts to fade, but still remains. “You had no idea what was going to happen last night and I can’t begin to even imagine what it’s like as a werewolf to have this… bond thrust upon you.” She doesn’t really know how else to word it and kind of lets that thought trail off as she takes a deep breath.
“You were able to find me before anything more happened, that’s why I keep thanking you even when you threaten that your head will get bigger… I think we both know your ego is already too big at this point.” She teases half-heartedly before grabbing his other hand and placing it on the cheek that’s not bruised. “And see? You’re touching me and there’s no pain.”
Nero

Nero avoids looking in Caden’s eyes, opting to stare off to the side and focusing on a letter in one of the books’ titles. “I killed them. I single-handedly wiped out her family, Caden. How could I not feel guilty about that?” Nero clenches their jaw before taking a deep breath.
Pushing the door open, Kimiko peers into the bathroom to see Avery hunched over the sink, his eyes closed. She hesitates for a moment, suddenly feeling like she’s about to be rejected by him again before she rolls her eyes at herself and walks up to him, placing a hand on his arm. “What’s going on?” She asks, her tone heavy with concern.
”Was it seeing the bruises again?” This part she asks in a smaller voice, somehow feeling guilty for whatever’s happening to the wolf.
Nero

Nero chews on their lip in thought. “Probably not, no… Just… Like you said, we aren’t ready to take someone like him on right now, but I can’t help the feeling that he’s just going to appear out of nowhere. So I keep thinking if I learned more, we might stand a better chance…”
