As for the Nen question, personally I’d assume it could actually be a transmutation, conjuration, or manipulation ability, depending on it’s use. My brain went transmutation given your changing your shadow into something solid, but I’m not really sure. I would think of how you’re going to use it most and go from there, remember you can also use connecting categories at 80-60-40.
My current idea is that my character will actually be limited in what he can turn his shadow into though the available forms will increase. Each form has to somehow be meaningful to him whether they're symbolic or not and he will start out with two representing his uncle, a dog and an arm, note his shadow doesn't actually get the senses of a dog just the "body" of one.
Other limitations will be that while he can switch his shadow's "mass" around it's limited to whatever size it had when he activated his technique and has to remain connected to him. If his shadow is destroyed either by damage or anything that would remove shadows normally the technique is cancelled and he of course can't use it if his shadow isn't visible due it being too light or too dark.
Formal Name-
Pasche Foster Informal or Preferred Name- Pasche
Age- 13
Birth Place- (If known or notable.)
Birth Date- (If known, and only M/Y.)
Gender Or Preferred Pronoun- Male
Height & Weight- 5'1 and 140 pounds
Notable Physical Attributes- Pasche is naturally pretty quick which his uncle focused his training teaching him to dodge as well as both parkour and how to shadow people without being noticed, so he has some decent stealth skills. That said he is better at parkour than at shadowing people, and only has experience with either in the city.
Discovery of Nen- After passing the Hunter's exam his uncle immedaitely taught him how to open and close through meditation which took about six months. It took him another year to learn the basics as well as En.
General Ability- Pasche of course has learned Ten, Zetsu, Ren and Hatsu. Of the more advanced techniques En is his best to the point where he can create a circle of three meters and hold it for about 70 seconds followed by In. He is still struggling to master Gyo, Ko and Shu and hasn't started on learning Ken and Ryu yet though he knows the theory.
Hatsu- Living Shadow: Pasche uses his own shadow as a medium for his Nen, allowing him to both solidify and control it as long as its both visible and connected to his body. While he is limited in the forms he can use his shadow is still somewhat fluid and he can increase it's range by decreasing the "mass" of the form and vice versa. While he feels whatever happens to his shadow damage isn't transferred. He is limited in what forms he can make his shadow take, as they must be of things that hold importance to him, though they can be symbolic or direct copies.
Forms Shadow Dog: A shadow that takes on the appearance of a German Shepherd. While it is completely solid and can use it's claws and teeth to attack, it has no senses and can only move the way Pasche controls it. Shadow Arm: A right arm made out of Pasche's shadow, it lacks the natural weapons of Shadow Dog but is as dexterous as a real hand and can bend in directions no human arm can.
Weapons or Equipment- Pasche carries a grappling hook for when he needs to climb something quickly that can't be done with just parkour skills and as a midrange weapon or way to pull opponents/objects towards him.
Since his uncle taught him some knife fighting skills he carries a a combat knife for when he gets into fights.
Finally due to a habit he developed before learning about Nen he carries several smokebombs to cover his escape in case a fight proves too much.
Trained Skills or Knowledge- His uncle taught him several skills that would be useful to have as a Hunter. Due to his natural quickness and small size stealth and parkour got the biggest focus. Parkour: Since being able to use the most effect route/method when dealing with rough terrain is always useful Pasche has been taught the basics of parkour. While only familiar with cityscapes he excelled at it and with the help of his grapplinghook can easily make his way across most rooftops.
How to shadow people: His small size and ability to take unconventional routes make it pretty easy for Pasche to follow people without being noticed as long as they can't use Nen.
Knife fighting: Pasche isn't the best or most experienced fighter but his uncle taught him the basics of how to use a combat knife.
Basic disguise skill: This is the weakest of Pasche's skills but he knows enough to slightly change his appearance, mostly by changing clothes, using make-up to hide his scar and a wig to change hair color. He can still be recognized by his voice and mannerisms though.
Notable Scars or Physical Appearance Traits-
His red hair and the scar underneath his left eye.
Notable Personality Traits/Personality- Due to knowing how easy it can be to follow someone if you know what you're doing Pasche has developed a habit of briefly using En at random intervals when out in the open. He can also be quite stubborn when he really wants something, even if he knows it's dangerous but is willing to take the time to properly prepare for whatever he is chasing. During his free time he also likes to people watch from some unseen spot like the roof of a building.
Past Affiliations or Experience-
He has helped out his uncle with his detective/bounty hunter job as a trainee/intern at the small and relatively unknown organization "The Hunter/detective Agency" though he always thought he name was a bit too generic. Of course he was never brought along on any dangerous missions and in fact it was only after three months of helping out and training that he even got involved in a small fight which is how he got his scar.
Notable Relations- There is his parents of course as they raised him and together with his uncle are the only family he has. Pasche's uncle is a small time no star bounty Hunter who he has always looked up too and who has taught him every useful Hunter related skill he has so far.
General History- While his parents and life were pretty normal Pasche idolized his mother's brother, a small time bounty Hunter, and loved listening to his stories. His parents were okay with it as long as his brother kept the more gruesome details to himself. Unfortunately for his family those stories had a bigger impact on Pasche than anyone suspected and when he was 8 he decided he wanted to be a Hunter as well.
His family was all against it and his uncle even stopped seeing him but after Pashe repeatedly tried breaking into his uncle's office or follow him when he had a mission in town they realized he wasn't gonna back down. His uncle decided to make sure his nephew would be prepared for the job by training him before Pasche even took the license exam. It still took about a month before they were able to convince Pasche's parents but after that his training began.
Of course that didn't include Nen training but Pasche was taught several useful physical and fighting skills over the course of the next two years with him finally being allowed to take the exam after his tenth birthday.
@Duthguy Sounds good! Is he trying to accomplish what they could not in their stead? Did they push them in that direction intentionally or was it a desire they discovered on their own? Thoughts and thoughts, be sure to flesh out that part!
The way I see it it started with the relative telling stories about the glory days and the more (recent) impressive adventures of his friends, some "clearly exaggerated or made up" because he mentioned them pulling stunts no human could do. At first he was against mc becoming a hunter just like mc's parents but he realized mc was serious convinced them to let train him at least somewhat so he is better prepared.
I have settled on making the hunter relative mc's uncle, that way it makes more sense for him to still be somewhat active as minor bounty hunter, which might offer more story opportunities than if he was fully retired
In my case the related hunter will probably be my character's uncle or grandfather who never made it big due to an injury early in their career that resulted in their arm or leg not healing completely properly. It's fine for everyday stuff and thanks to nen they could still handle some relatively minor fights
Of course the girl didn't know anything, Simon supposed that was more likely than her having all the answers somehow. He missed her cowering at first because the box had caught his attention though the fact it was filled with battle chips of all things only raised more questions. When he finally noticed how scared the girl was he didn't blame her all things considered and while he wanted see if the could wake bowlingball-head up and ask them some questions he figured he had to calm her down a little first. "Hey, are you okay? I'm sure we can find some others humans over at that phone tower we can ask for help."
=Battlechips
Swrd: Cut enemy in front! Range is 1
Cannon
Thunder1: A rolling lightning attack
Recov10: Recover 10HP
LilBomb: Bomb that explodes vertically
Meteors: Rains a total of 30 meteors on the enemy area. Reducing the enemy area means more hits per panel.
Super Vulcan: Fires down the row, hitting 12 times. Also hits the panel directly behind the target.
while it had been a few days since his birthday Simon could still hardly believe his parents got him an Omniphone Gold, sure the whole resetting thing was gonna get annoying but still. Happy to finally have a phone with a camera he had taken several pictures already, of dogs, the sky, cool cars and so on.
The annoying part of the phone resetting became very clear when he was in the middle of typing a book-report and his phone suddenly rang, the fact that all he heard was static was just weird but that it caused the phone to reset without giving him the chance to save his work was far more upsetting in his mind. Not in the mood to redo the last half hour and feeling oddly tired Simon decided that a nap was a good idea.
When he opened his eyes again the first thing he noticed was some person with a flaming bowlingball for a head holding an egg. As he looked around he noticed more and more odd things about his surroundings, like the word welcome floating in his vision, the fact that he was outside and some unknown but cute girl. "I don't suppose you know what is going on."
While he managed to sound reasonably calm since he didn't want to make the young girl even more scared then she no doubt was he honestly was pretty close to panicking.
At first he thought he had to be dreaming but it all felt too realistic and he had never had a lucid dream before.
Personality: Simon isn't the most outgoing person, but he also isn't a lone wolf and genuinely appreciates his friends even if he doesn't always show it. While he prefers to let others take the lead he will speak up if he feels it is necessary and he is very much the one in charge when it comes to Solarmon and Fanbeemon. He also has a tendency to hold grudges if wronged but is trying to work on it.
History: Simon's life was pretty average for the most part, he was an only child who did decent in school and was neither super popular or at the bottom of the social order. The most interesting thing that ever happened to him was a trip to the hospital due to a minor allergic reaction to peanut butter.
While he enjoyed the battle network games he wasn't super great at them, and being more of a casual gamer usually just finished the story and called it good. He never played any of the Digimon games but did enjoy the first two animes.
Other: Simon is allergic to peanuts.
Digimon:
Name: Fanbeemon
Appearance:
Stage Type: Warp digivolution
Personality: Fanbeemon has no issue fighting and deleting non-sentient viruses but would prefer to just talk things out with Navi's and other Digimon, unless there is no risk of either side being deleted. If talking is not an option though, he will give it all during the fight until it's over.
D.N.A.: A mix of the usual Omniphone apps, some photos of whatever caught Simon's interest and several memes, while the green D-3 toy came with the Veemon/Wormmon pair and the Digimental of Knowledge.
Turbo Stinger: Rapid-fires its wide-aperture laser cannon.
Bear Buster: A single blow fired after charging up energy. This technique can bring down even larger Digimon, but it is difficult to hit agile enemies with it, so it is mainly used against enemies on the ground.
Charge +1: Increases your Buster charge rate, allowing you to produce charged attacks faster. As above, there are four in the game and that is all you need.
Shield: Press left+B in battle to make Megaman briefly raise a shield. Same principle as Block but the damage will be nullified instead of just halved. Also unlike Block, it will be completely ineffective against breaking attacks. If you have Shield Style while this is equipped and raise the Shield juuust before the enemy's hit connects, then you don't just nullify the damage, you recover 100HP as well!
Shadow Shoes: Move over cracked panels without breaking them.
Personality: Solarman can be a bit hotheaded (pun intended), but unless something sets off him he tends to listen to Simon. When angry though, he tends to forgo subtilty and prefers to use his strongest chips, the fact that Simon rarely agrees will only only make him angrier. The rest of the time though he gets along pretty well with both Simon and Fanbeemon.
Other: Battlechips

five blank chips.
five blank capture cards.
Solarman's charged shot resembles a cartoon sun and came from a plug-in PET toy.
