Children are taken advantage of all the time. I was just picking a couple JSAers arbitrarily because he wouldn't have been old enough to idolize Batman. What I meant as far he would fight crime like Dr. Mid Nite and The Flash, not that he would gain powers in a comparable way. The thing about college costing a lot of money, I just chalk up to the fact that Howard would've eventually been good enough to pay for several semesters before taking on student loan debt.

Satisfied, @Inkarnate? Or is there more I should be explaining? This really isn't actually bugging me like application processed used to.
Personally, I think the sheet needs a lot of reworking to be sensible. But I don’t want to block anyone from the game – my opinion isn’t really relevant.

It's really thin and whimsical on purpose, but what do you think is nonsensical, specifically? If I actually skipped a beat so far as basic logic goes, I wouldn't mind realizing it now rather than later.
So, can we say he got a grant from Lex Luthor and call it a done sheet?
Yeah, not all of Jimmy Eat World’s output is optimistic one hundred percent of the time lyrically, I think most artists are more three dimensional than that. Even evocative happiness-driven genres like twee have plenty of artists reaching into tones of melancholy, somberness, and regret.

Generally speaking, I think Jimmy Eat World's Chase This Light is even more optimistic and saccharine, though it's also not without it's melancholy backdrop. In fact, the sadness is what makes it so uplifting, in my opinion. I was fifteen years old when I first heard the song "Here it Goes". It talks about people not valuing you and stuff like that, but it's also one of the more encouraging songs I've ever heard.

This is reaching back to before they were a general emotive pop-punk band and closer to a general Midwestern emo band (see "Static Prevails"), but the song "Your New Aesthetic" off of Clarity is one of the most awesomest songs ever, once you get over it's deliberate disjointed nature. I'd say that Clarity is extremely optimistic because it's about growing up, getting over your problems and deciding you'll do something productive with your adulthood (see "A Sunday").

Otherwise, I don't know if I'd call this optimism or just general off-the-wall happiness, but Masked Intruder is a pop-punk band in the vain/vein of Blink-182 (but better) with the persistent shtick of assuming the guises of a crew of romantic burglars. What they say isn't always nice, but I haven't ever heard them play a sad song. Check out the EP "Love and Other Crimes".
Name: Doctor Raymond Howard // Age: 29
Alias: The Cleanfreak (Formerly Mr. Clean)

Appearance:
If a child encountered Raymond out of costume, he'd likely rationalize that Raymond is a leprechaun vampire. He's a short snaggletooth with skin bleached white and dreadlocks stained crimson. Five foot two, with a telescoping waistline, marshmallow white irises and ivory fingernails. He sounds like he's got clipped vocal chords and/or throat cancer. When he's presenting himself as The Cleanfreak, he wears sterile white fatigues with a set of back-mounted canisters, filled with various chemicals, connected to a pair of pressure hoses on his hips.

Skills/Abilities:
He's not strong, but he's very fast--fast like a psychotic weasel on meth. He's finnicky, not objectively the smartest, but he's full of surprises. He has years of experience as a janitor, decades as a playwrite, a lifetime as a JSA fan, and several months as an OCD wrangler. He has a Doctorate in Genetics.

Biography:
Unfortunately, Raymond Howard lived a nerdish life, in Gotham, where he was harassed by his peers and generally hated by nearly everyone he knew. He wanted to grow up to be a geneticist so that he could give himself superpowers and fight crime. He imagined some heroes got their abilities through science. Unfortunately, he knew his parents could never scrounge up the money to put him through college, so he started work as a janitor when he was fourteen, around the Renaissance of superheroics, to save for his future.

Unfortunately, he was peer pressured into smoking some mysterious drug when he was in college, that caused him severe general anxiety. He dealt with this for years, training to build his muscles to a point comparable to the unfriendly neighborhood Batman. In what he considered a personal triumph, he channeled his angst to a specific stressor, angst at the unclean. This made him a much more effective janitor.

Unfortunately, when he had finally gotten his degree, he found himself kidnapped by The Joker, who had designs for Dr. Howard's specialization. So he drove the good doctor insane and performed a bizarre series of "medical" procedures on him, including bleaching his skin. He was rescued by the Batman after supplying the Joker with the designs for several different monsters, none of which have presented themselves.

"Unfortunately" The Joker is dead. The Batman is absent. As a changed man, Doctor Raymond Howard has recently dedicated himself to cleansing Gotham City of it's filth--and then the world!
Was thinking of doing a supervillain OC.

Also, sorry for the late response. I was out of state.
I'll give you a used kidney if you let me in!

WEEK 04: As the first round of secondary plots are coming to an end, let's discuss antagonists. So far there hasn't been anything too serious in the RP but what are your thoughts on antagonists? What makes a good villain for you? Do you like them unhinged, do you like them cold and calculating? Do you prefer an NPC villain or one who is directly portrayed by another player? What's good about being bad?

I think a good villain is not necessarily one that is powerful or even intelligent, but a good villain creates complex multifaceted issues for a hero to overcome. Confrontations between protagonist and antagonist need not even be violent. I actually like the way Timothy Zahn said it in his commentary for Heir to the Empire, something along the lines of the fact that each side should have a few tricks up their sleeve and that each contest between enemies should play out like a chess match.

The Joker is a great villain for Batman, he also puts up a surprisingly good fight against the entire Justice League, but as clever and unpredictable as he is, the confrontations are much more personal when they are specifically against Batman because of their shared histories. I always think that a good villain should have some sort of opinion of the hero, whether they've interacted personally or not.

I'm working on my sheet and my new potential PC is likely to be a mundane, with a little bit of Batman and a little bit of the Scarecrow in him. While my intent is not to play him as an outright villain, I can easily imagine him operating outside of the good graces of the other characters.
I'm just gonna go ahead and rescind my application.

This is the story of your character's life, their defining moments nd how they made it from the womb to where they are now. You can include as much other details as you think is necessary but don't go overboard and spell everything out. Sometimes its best to show through the IC than to tell in the CS.
