Name : Erin Farain Nicknames : Strategist Gender : Female Age and birthday : 18 years of age. Born as the last leaves left the trees. Origin : Born a commoner as her parents before her, Erin remains firmly lodged in the capital where she was born. It is only there she may yet realize her destiny. Length and build : Erin draws a modestly tall 5'11", not too shabby for someone who looks like they just barely skip above the border of malnourishment. Her bodily shape does relatively little to evoke any specific reaction when compared to the peasants around her. Weight : ~120 lbs. Sexuality : She loathes the day when she'll have to sit down and think of such things. As it stands, it seems any particularly forthright individual will make her uncomfortable.
Appearances :
Occupation : Mapmaking is an artistic job, and one she has a knack for. However, now that her father has passed away, leaving her and mother to manage the store of scrolls and maps and ink, she finds the itch is returning to find her calling.
Favorite phrase/saying : "The past is where the future lies."
Favorite Food : Carrots have a particular crunch to them, don't they?
Favorite Weather and Season : In the autumn and in the rain, is where Erin thrives.
Patron God/Goddess : Erin does not ascribe to henotheism, but rather believes that each god merits his or her own respect and sacrifice at the opportune times, however unruly such thoughts may be.
Personality :
There is an itch. Something within me that demands its place in the sunlight. Out there my destiny awaits, no longer should I be shackled to the mediocrity of my parents. I am the only one that will see reason. We were great once. The tales of majesty, of brilliance. Yet we dine only on beets and the store is breaking apart. The taxes are breaking our backs. Father is gone, but can a man who did nothing with his life truly be forgotten? Is he simply remembered for what he accomplished? This is what awaits me too. A failing business and a mother bereft of all spirit. This is no life for the Farain family.
I will bring us back into the light.
History :
The story of Erin begins a time before she was given a place in the world. When the land was yet in turmoil, the Warring Times, there was a man who distinguished himself. A brilliant strategist, fierce in mind as well as mastering the art of the sword. Though he came from no great family nor carried with him any wealth, his intellect bore him soundly through the unstable times. One of the lesser nobility swept him into their service as a weapon from the warlord's tent -and a bodyguard if necessary- and he held true to his skill, giving the righteous noblemen countless victories with his keen insight and trust in the soldiers. A legacy was born solely on his prowess. From the humble Arkan Farain, master strategist, would spring many a glorious tale.
Then, he fell. On a warm summers' eve, illness took hold of Master Farain. Though he successfully composed a final plan for the future of his masters, he was taken from the world, leaving behind him a wife and two children. Those children would grow up to become inspired by their father, and continued in service of their fathers' noble masters. Though neither of them would ever become brilliant strategists, they delved into advisory matters that they could flourish in, and carried the banner of Farain, humble though it may be.
The cycle diluted. The children that came after were likewise inspired by their grandfathers greatness, and though they never quite excelled at neither advisory roles nor strategy, the result was a new artistic bent to the Farain family line. They would become mapmakers and scrollkeepers, now that their noble masters would not see use for them anymore. They too had children, whom planted themselves in the legacy of their parents.
Erin Farain was born yet more generations after that, brought into a world where peace had now been the standard for some time. Though the tale of Arkan Farain was fondly told to her as she grew, she was to accept a fate as helper in her fathers' now failing store. At her fingertips were the preserved stories of greatness. Of the temporary glory that had been given to her family. Of what a brilliant mind could do. How could she not challenge herself to continue such a legacy, rather than rot away in apathy?
Her father took ill and vanished into history. Erin noticed how not even their few regular customers seemed to notice the change. Her mother turned to managing the store in silence. She too would suffer the fate of a failing candle, and noone would notice. They had become nothing. Fortunately, Erin had spent more than enough time poring over maps, scrolls and books in her contentious youth. She'd read up on strategy. She'd made herself nosier than she should in the workings of the land.
It would be her.
Theme song : (A theme song for your character? Video or normal URL links are fine.)
Clothing and/or armor : Erin generally dresses herself in plain, cheap garments that go with the seasons. Her reasonably frail exterior has forced her to invest in a robust cloak (as seen above). She also owns a set of padded clothes, doubling as possible (poor) armour and protection against the elements. She is regularly seen in her cloak. It has become something of a fashion choice, despite noone else agreeing with it.
Tools and weapons : ======= Name : The Sword of Farain - Longsword Description : It is a sword. It may parry other weaponry should the wielder be apt enough to pull off such a maneuver. It may also jab and cut opponents, given a chance to do so alongside appropriate force. Appearance : It is included in the picture above. Really, it's just a very old sword. ======= Name : Quills and Inkpots Description : By positioning a quill betwixt ones fingers and immersing the tip of the quill into an open inkpot, one has proceeded through the ritual that allows oneself to put words - or indeed imagery - onto paper or other surfaces. Appearance : These tools look exactly like one would expect medieval writing equipment to look. =======
Skill/Abilities : For all her self-proclaimed chance for greatness, Erin really isn't half-bad at strategizing, having immersed herself into the works of her ancestor and his peers for much of her young life. Determined to follow his footsteps rather than her fathers', she has also taken up practicing with the old blade she recovered from the attic, though she's only good enough not to hurt herself.
Other skills include a working knowledge of moderate mathematics, a beastly understanding of geography, and an apetite for vegetables.Traits Frowns subconsciously. Is clearly destined for greatness according to herself. Blemish-free.
I pledge loyalty and honor to the High Ruler of the Empire.
