Showcase:
"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.
"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.
Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."
"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."
She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."
She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.
Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.
"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.
Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.
The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...
She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.
She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.
As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.
Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.
God, she couldn't breathe.
He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.
A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.
Lord Tenebris is the leader of the Anlite [an-lahyt] alien race that discovered immortality three million years ago. They use technology to permanently change their form from matter to a hybrid anti-matter that (rather than annihilate both sides into energy) converts matter to energy that the antimatter uses to sustain itself.
They need a continual supply of matter, and for millions of years, they have slowly devoured stars. Lord Tenebris sends its acolytes to scout out suitable stars. Depending on the size, stars take anywhere from 1000 to 10,000 years to disappear.
Sol, our sun, is next on their agenda.
ROLEPLAY STYLE (Rated PG-13.) This is a gritty, modern, magical realism & sci-fi story full of flawed characters and opposing views. Petty criminal behaviour is encouraged. Minor profanity is allowed. We will be split into three teams as the fate of our sun is decided. This focuses on character interaction and development, plot twists, and choices.
SETTING Chicago, US., Year 2016
In this alternate reality, all is the same save for the birth of metahumans — people gifted with strange and otherworldly powers. Science has determined that metahumans are, in fact, they’re own species (Homo Novus). The political powers have been slow in creating new legislation for superpowers. With no direction, there is a rise 'metacrimes' (criminal behaviour by those with superpowers). Media has pushed the general public to be fearful of metahumans. For the most part, the two groups are delicately tense with one another.
The Anlite view metahumans as the only intelligence on the planet, and will soon approach them with a proposal in regards to taking the sun.
There will be three ideologies amongst the metahumans:

(Rated PG-13.) Welcome to a gritty, modern, magical realism & sci-fi story full of flawed characters and opposing views. Petty criminal behaviour is encouraged. Minor profanity is allowed. The Anlite view metahumans as the only intelligence on the planet, and will soon approach them with a proposal in regards to taking the sun.
There will be three ideologies amongst the metahumans:
Those who believe in the Gaia Legend
Those who believe in Power
Those who believe in the Anlite
1) Legend says that the Earth is alive; its ancient name is Gaia. With access to billions of years of knowledge hidden in galactic databases, Gaia knows how to defeat the Anlite.
Those who wish to commune with Gaia must have three keys. Two are physical, one is energetic. Clues about these keys will be revealed.
2) Great power is needed in dire times. There is a metahuman that will receive a weapon of mass destruction to wipe out the Anlite, but it will require the energy of most, if not all, metahumans (pyro or stellar capabilities are most effective). The machine will amplify all the power it's given threefold, but will leave a permanent Weak Status on all metahumans that participate.
Those in this ideology would prefer taking power from another metahuman rather than sacrifice themselves.
3) The Anlite offer immortality to all metahumans that do not wish to die with the consumption of Sol. The procedure is painless, and being a hybrid of anti-matter has its own perks. Never worry about being hurt by matter (shot, burned, cut) ever again. Overcome all sickness, ailments, and status effects. Be welcomed into a family of knowledgeable beings. All you have to do is swear absolute obedience to Lord Tenebris. To reject their offer is to die.
WEAK STATUS Power and movement speed is halved. Example: At your peak, you could throw a wall of fire. Now you are reduced to throwing a fireball. If you’re an excellent runner, now you become winded with ease.
Roleplay Specifics
This roleplay will focus on character interaction and development. To have an active part, it’s recommended you play as a metahuman. Plot ideas are encouraged. If you want something to happen or have a sweet idea, PM the GM. Our goal is to have lots of delicious conflict bouncing between the three ideologies, plus other parties.
We have space for 6-8 skilful and dedicated writers, maximum two in the Anlite ideology, and the remainder evenly spread between the Legend and Power ideologies.
There is a unique opening for 1-2 players who would like to play as metahuman police. This will be their occupation (and may affect their ideology). They will be the main tie between metahumans and regular people, and the Law breathing down on all metahumans’ necks. Their role will become more prevalent later in the story.
Rules:
Be willing to post twice a week within High Casual standards, minimum 300 words per post.
For repeated posting between two players (like a fight), keep it in the PMs and post in the IC as a single, joint megapost.
To play in either Legend or Power, there is a risk you’ll receive a Weak Status, and you’ll need to play accordingly.
Listen to the GM.
Have fun and try something new.~
Apply with a CS below, and I’ll review it. I may ask for a writing sample.

Congratulations, the Elementals have discovered a new team ability!! (Yahtzee stumbled upon this by accident, but I’ve been hinting at it for several months now.)
The Elementals have a unique ability, if their elements combine just the right way, it sparks a connection that runs deeper than any of the five senses regular humans have. With this connection, the Elementals are aware of each others desires and intentions, can feel each others bodies and the ground under each other’s feet, and they can work in perfect sync. It’s a super-ability that’s very hard to focus and maintain. But, with practice, the Elementals will be able to develop this ability enough that they will be ready to take down Vrail. This will be their edge when all hope is lost.
Rules for this new state:
- Elementals will not speak.
- Elementals will not think with words.
- Elementals will work in sync.
A deeper explanation on this will be given at a later date. If you have any questions, let me know. :)
Appling | Circus of Wonders
Cora watched as the sphere of Ice hovering over their heads slowly cooled the golden flame, blurring the line that separates elements. As the flame quite literally froze, it flashed a bright, diffusing light that coated the sphere in a subtle golden glow. In that glimmering moment, Cora felt time slow down, and in her heart she felt a peculiar sensation. Feelings without thought, emotions she couldn’t recognize as her own.
It was… it felt like Yahtzee! Cora immediately looked at him standing beside her, and he returned her stare in sync. His eyes, they weren’t the normal gold-brown she was used to seeing. Instead, the entire eye was white-gold, softly glowing just like the sphere above them. But nothing seemed out of the ordinary; it felt as though she’d seen all this before.
It wasn’t a hunch, she knew her eyes appeared the exact same as his. It didn’t scare her. At that moment, she was totally wrapped up in the heightened Sixth Sense she could feel. Their energy fused together felt like a literal extension of her body. She could feel it outside of her as vividly as if she closed her eyes; it was a whole different sense altogether. It was strange, but her sense could also feel Yahtzee. Not just feel, but know. She knew exactly where he was standing, which leg his weight was on, and where his eyes were looking. But on top of that she was also aware of his feelings, the unvoiced urges before his thoughts were even constructed.
He was an open book as she undoubtedly was to him. And she had never felt so soulfully tranquil.
Her mind thought too fast for words, but her feelings flashed from confusion to a kind of joy. It was terrifying and amazing at the same time, feeling as though their vast consciousnesses would simply disappear into each other.
Unfortunately, as Phil’s electrons of light were orbiting separately from the golden sphere, the light could not combine with the other elements, meaning Phil could not See as Cora and Yahtzee suddenly could.
The moment could have been a year, an eternity. But all too soon the experience collapsed with the destruction of the ice sphere. The golden light fell from Cora’s eyes, and a sadness crossed her face. The moment was over, and she could no longer See.
As the debris settled, Will was revealed at center stage. Immediately Cora felt something was off. She couldn’t see his face, but Will was giving off a sickening vibe, forcefully engulfing her tranquility. She felt dread. Pure, unadulterated dread sinking her heart. It was overwhelming, and strangely nauseating. Cora stumbled on her feet, numbly affright.
I don’t know this man… She thought.
Will triumphantly spoke to the crowd, malice coating his words. "And now...!" Particles of water came to focus in Cora’s vision, being drawn together to one source at the beckon of Will’s arm.
"For the main event..." Cora felt her jaw drop in horror. Oh God, this can’t be happening…
Will let the ball reach a size that would flood the entire big top. "DEATH!"
Cora’s world was plunged in icy water, the currents tearing her away from the stage. She was blind, deaf and lost in Will’s finale, only realizing too late that Will meant to kill them all. Weak with betrayal, she fell adrift up among the tent’s high beams, drenched under the sphere that would soon suffocate them all.
As her lungs burned for air, Cora uselessly flapped her wings in the high current water. She was stuck in the whirlpool, hurt and alone. The man she thought she knew… Will, he was gone. A monster took his place, one that didn’t even recognize her.
Will, how could you… She thought weakly. How could you abandon us?
Her broken heart grew hot with anger, sharpening her mind against the water crushing her chest. She drew up her strength, rapidly cooling the temperature of the sphere starting from her point near the ceiling, then down. The effect was true to her wishes, the sphere turning from water to ice in a wave from top to bottom. Everyone became encased in translucent beauty, and it held there for a moment before something cracked.
Another crack. Then, the ice ball split apart, crumbling away into particles. The audience was saved, but many remained unconscious. Cora had to wonder if she had been too late in releasing them. But there was no time to regret, and even less to think. Cora quickly stood, clearing her throat.
“This is a critical emergency. If you have your life, evacuate the premise immediately. I repeat, evacuate immediately.”
She didn’t have time to find the other Elementals. Will had to be stopped before he tried killing again. She spotted him, hovering at the edge of the destroyed tent with a blackened trident. As their eyes met he almost smiled, but it wasn’t genuine. He was fierce, terrifyingly so. Grimacing, Cora stepped forward, flapping her ice wings once to cut the distance between them.
The look of a betrayed lover haunted in her stare as she locked eyes with Will’s bottomless pits. Her voice quivered with emotion, but she held strong. “Will, what is the meaning of this? How dare you betray us -- me. I thought you were better than this.”
Hehe, I know. But yeah, I was thinking after the tea break. Evelyn will still want to see Polaris' assets, even if she's been automatically accepted into the group. XD
Glad you enjoyed it~! I'll try not to take so long next time. :P
