"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

The eyes on her were apparent.

"Quand le chat n’est pas là, les souris dansent."

She mumbled under her breath, trying, yet failing, to appear unnerved.

"... Sure thing, babe! But, Violet doesn't work here," the bartender said. "She quit a few weeks ago, but I'll get you your drink if you still want it."

Alizée took a step back, pale eyes watching the bartender carefully, before she leaned her elbows on the counter, ignoring the performers and mens' eyes on her. Her fingers drifted over the bills she had placed on the counter, before reaching into her wallet and slapping a hundred on top of the stack.

Her eyes went dark when she stared at the bartender again, lying through her teeth. "Real shame, that. My boss was looking forward to booking her for a good gig."

That's when Void swirled in front of her vision. His voice echoed in her mind. "We're looking for a biker gang, right? I got someone that fits the description, and they can't stop staring at you."

"Hm?" she thought.

"And they just sent a text."

"Did you see to who? Or what?"

"No. Just that they sent it damn quick."

Her eyes flicked to the side, eyeing her red-haired companion. Muscled, rough around the edges. How did Alizée not see this beast of a women when she first walked in? Her hands were large enough to wrap around Alizée's throat without much hesitation.

The real concern that made Alizée's heart quicken a beat was the text. There was only two possibilities she could think of. Either one, the muscled woman sent a text to Violet directly. Or two, and unfortunately, more likely, she sent a text to her 'friends.' Possibly the Wolfpack. A one-way ticket straight to Father Wolf, if such was the case.

Damn, she hoped she was wrong. What a way to send yourself on a silver platter.

She took another long moment, silence stretching as her fingers pressed on the hundred on the counter. With a click of her tongue, she slid it over, eyeing the bartender again.

"Come on, I know you know more than that. Why did she leave?"

A pause. "And uh, two gin and tonics. And a beer, same as her." She gestured to the muscled woman beside her.

"That sounds about right, right about now."
@Lexisheeps All good! It's Angel next, and then your turn so you still have some time, there's no rush. And of course, IRL comes first. :)
@WhiteAngel25 No rush and no pressure, I can't wait!
Echoing what Angel said, absolutely fantastic round! So much character development, and the drama.

There is a bit of planning that will be going into this next post, so I will likely have it ready tonight or tomorrow, depending on how everything plays out. :)

Very excited!

”You think I should give Britney a rest? Well, that’s fine, are you offering to help me instead? Maybe you can start by helping me pay for my next phone."

Alizée pulled a whisp of platinum hair from her vision, tucking it behind an ear as she considered Luca's words. Same old Luca.

"Shame, if only they saw the world like you do." Said the metallic voice of the Void Heart.

"Like I do?" She thought.

"Why yes, being in absolute love with your fate, and with me."

"Go to Hell, Void."

"Where do you think I come from? From your books, where I wander is very close to what you describe." His cold smile split the orb wide.

She pushed a frustrated hand to her temples, wiping her hair back, before turning to Luca.

"I can see when my advice isn't appreciated. But I will say this: you're asking the wrong question..."

And she left it at that. If they had anything more to say, it was cut off when Auri spoke.

"What is most interesting is that their leader, Judas, uses the Father Wolf alias."

Alizée swore under her breath. There's more than one Father Wolf, isn't there? Just what this story needed.

"I am suggesting that we simply investigate the Wolfpack. If Judas or the Wolfpack are not involved with the murders or Father Wolf, we move on to the next lead." Auri continued.

"So we night-stalk some girls? The next victim is Violet." Said the cold, sickeningly sweet voice in her mind.

"Absolutely not." Her thought snapped back.

The Void Heart swirled menacingly around Alizée's shoulders, wide purple and red eyes with their black sclera narrowed at her. "Talking back now? Need I remind you the last time you thought talking back was a good idea with me?"

She remembered. Ashley Stone had been the one to break up that fight before the police got involved. Damage to property, among other charges, would have been the least of her worries.

She glared at Void from the corner of her eye, watching as it slithered around her. "That was a long time ago. And I, for one, am sick of letting you have your way all the time."

Void simply chuckled. "Have it your way. I have a feeling I'll get what I want in the end, though."

"Shut up."

Just then, the door to the flower shop swung wide open. Staring at the group with an intense gaze was non other than Kali. Alizée blinked, recognizing him. The abscised one of the group, last she remembered. One of the more level-headed ones. One that she had some amount of confidence in before everything went south.

That was, at least, until he pulled out the badge.

THUD.

The folding chair clattered and fell behind Alizée as she shot from her seat, wide-eyed and panicked. A badge? Kali was a badge? Since when? Was he here for her? No, no, not possible. She kept herself low-key on purpose, leaving minimal traces. And it wasn't like she killed anybody, her night-stalking just left victims hospitalized.

Auri seemed to read the room and moved Kali into one of the back rooms. But the damage was done.

Swallowing hard, she shoved past the seats and group members in her way, but just as she was about to barrel out the front door, she ran straight into Jack. Her breath caught, staring up as he Void-walked right into the flower shop.

"Jack...?" She said, trying a smile. Before looking over her shoulder, swallowing again. "I... have to go." And she pressed a scrap of paper into Jack's hands. Her phone number. And she fled out the front door.

She didn't stop her panicked, almost-running walk until she reached her car, a modest, old model camero, and slid in behind the driver seat. With shaky fingers, she started the engine and took off.

There were many moments of silence before Void eyed her, slinking around the passenger seat. "You're that scared of getting caught, huh?"

"Of course I am. What would my father think...?"

"Relax, they wouldn't have any evidence on you anyway. I've made you a wicked night-stalker, one that's near untraceable."

"Near untraceable."

There was another moment of silence. "Where are you going?"

"Where do you think?"

She pulled up on the opposite street of the Veni Vedi Veni, neon lights flickering in the night. Taking a breath to steady herself, she turned off the engine, tossed her keys in her purse, and stepped out of her car, locking it twice. She double-checked her surroundings before stepping towards the strip club.

"You're just gonna walk through the front door?"

"You got a better idea?"

"Sneak around the back."

"Not necessary. This might turn out to be nothing."

"What if it isn't?"

"Then you'll be watching my back, right?"

"Humph."

She smirked at that, and opened the door to the Veni Vedi Veni wide, stepping inside. She made her way to the bar, ignoring the glimmering lights and staring faces, throwing down a few bills.

"Gin and tonic." She paused, then leaned in closer to the bartender. "And I'm... looking for someone. Someone by the name of Violet. Personal business."
Since then, Drake has been hoping to run into her while doing his vigilante work and put an end to her.

Drake what? D:

My reaction to @Days and @WhiteAngel25's posts. Epic is an understatement. The intro to Sabrina and Auri is tear-jerking. And the dragon really did open up Pandora's box. ;)
@Lexisheeps We should definitely make that scene happen, lol.
Ohhh, muahaha indeed! Yes, we got a real banger with this one. Our new post is up, and we have quite a few thickening plot points going on. ;)

A crystal glass of wine slowly stirred in Von Galloes' relaxed hand as he lounged in his business seat, staring at the sea of security feeds stretched across the wall in front of him. He was watching two feeds in particular. One feed showed as Nick and Thierry scuttling down the hallway, panicked and scared. The other showed shadows creeping around Stella, Star and the group as they made to face off with the Void Dragon.

"Nice trick, Mr. Cress. It produces the results I like to see."

His eyes flickered to the security drone hovering beside Mr. Dress's chair, and gave a small nod. The drone proceeded to fill Mr. Cress' glass up to the half-way mark with more deep-red wine.

Von Galloes stared, sizing Mr. Cress up like a child would a puppet. "Now, now, you needn't worry, Mr. Cress," His smile revealed sharp teeth. "Your British Museum is safe, as long as you keep giving me what I want."

HiveMind Underwater Research Facility, Floor 1C

The blaring of the emergency sirens seemed to fade to the background as the elevator dropped off the lonesome pair, Thierry and Nick, to floor 1C. Here, the emergency lights flickered similarly, in shades of red and back, along grey tile and stark white walls. Similarly, on this floor, there was an eerie presence. However, the Hollow kept to the shadows, watching its prey and lurking just out of sight.

The hallway seemed to stretch on forever in silence, until they came across room 6425. It was locked, however, a control room 30 paces down had a panel that, with the flick of a button, would allow the cell door to slide open.

Peering into the dark cell would reveal a horrifying sight. Sitting on the dark tile, panicked whimpering escaping her parted lips, was a small woman. Her ashen blonde hair was lack luster, and her skin paler than the sun-kissed texture her father had last seen her with, seven years ago.

But there was no mistaking it. This was Aurélie de Villiers, dressed in the rags of a patient suit in the basement of HiveMind's facility, white coller around her neck. And, with a dealth-like vice grip, a needle with a long razor point hovering millimeters from her jugular vein was held in her hand.

"Well, Monsiuer Thierry. What do you have to say to my meeting now?" There was a dark chuckle over the intercom as security drones floated into the hallway, their presence crowding the door where Thierry and Nick stood. They had stun batons at the ready, red eyes locked on them.

"Make one wrong move, and poor little Aurélie here will get a lethal amount of morphine in her system. She'll be put to sleep... And it'll be your fault." Von Galloes said, like a cat watching his prey.

"You don't want that, do you? You'd do anything for your sweet little angel, even after all these years. Hm? Surrender. And.... let's have a little chat. We can talk all about how well I've cared for your daughters after all these years."

Upon closer examination, a trained eye could tell some foul play going on in Aurélie's system. The hand that gripped the needle stood icyly still, like an executioner's blade waiting for the signal. The rest of her body had minor muscle spasms, like she was trying to fight the puppet strings over her form.

While Nick had mental control augmentations done to his mind, Aurélie had physical control augmentations done to her central nervous system, controlling the precise movement of her muscles.

"Well. I'm waiting, Monsieur Thierry." Said the sickly sweet, cold voice of Von Galloes over the loudspeaker.

Outside the HiveMind Underwater Research Facility, Radioactive Ruins

Subject #3 tugged on Stella's sleeve as she spoke, her voice high-pitched. "I-I can turn on the submarine, b-b-but that... thing I recognize it. It was... my mission. Where I had been sent to... to... never come back. Where you found me, with the wolves. It... they want it."

Subject #3's voice was too shrill. A flap of dark shimmering wings, a turn of its long neck, and its glowing violet eyes locked onto Stella. She heard a voice in her mind as the dragon towered over her.

"Human... you dare to play with me? You really think you can handle the raw power I possess?" Its voice was metallic in her mind, and black like ink.

It turned to face her fully, claws breaking away the stone in its grasp. It was easily three times her height with its neck fully raised.

"Very well."

Its glowing eyes narrowed.

"I challenge you."

Its sharp eyes shifted to the rest of the group, watching Subject #3, Star, and Aaron. They would subsequently here its metallic voice in their mind. "I challenge all of you. Prove to me you are worthy of what I possess, or die."

As Star watched the dragon, she would realize a couple things. It was the same as her textbooks and research in her old office. This large dragon was the personification of Dark Condensed Energy. Every manifestation of DCE required different tactics to 'open the treasure' and get the condensed core within. As this dragon represented the heart-of-hearts, nullifying or deactivating the DCE here might mean the collapse of dark energy in the area, and a resumal of natural order.

As Stella held the ornate stick, a quick shift to the side would reveal glass. There was, in fact, a see-through glass tube all the way through the centre of the artifact. Staring down the sight would reveal a bright, glowing orb in the shape of a thumping heart in the dragon's chest. The ornate stick was hefty in her hands, and had a slight tingling sensation. It could reveal just as well as it could deliver an electrical shock to anything it touched.

As Ramses lagged behind the group, he would notice something strange with his shadow. Every few seconds, it seemed to twitch, like it had a life of its own. Perhaps Ramses' eyes were playing tricks on him, but for a moment, red eyes appeared in the head-area of the shadow, watching him, before he blinked, and it disappeared.
